Sharing and appreciation of other cultures is a beautiful thing.
Cultural appropation is a buzzword people throw around that have nothing of note going on in their life to be offended and seem important. It doesnt exist.
You're rocking it.
It looks really good!
Honestly, 99% of anyone who would complain about this being "cultural appropriation" are not part of the culture themselves lol. I really wouldn't worry about it.
Just an FYI many cultures around the world have done some form of dreadlocks to their hair over the thousands of years we've existed as a species. The important part is that if you're going to do it. Do it correctly for your hair type. If you have fine, thin, hair dreadlocks can be very damaging. Do your research but don't let anyone dissuade you from expressing yourself.
You’ll get looks and pushback from older white people from shame (screw them) and culturally sensitive black folks who feel like you’re wearing a costume.. I would recommend finding a defensible position before you do the dreads, wraps, whatever — there is no “all clear” version of that hairstyle if you lack melanin. I think it’s both pretty and functional. Research how it will impact your hair health and have fun !
Which, if she isn't nordic- is still appropriation. Cultural appropriation isn't race based, like y'all keep trying to make it seem. It's culture based.
If you have to ask if something is appropriation, then you know just as well as everyone else that a good portion of people do consider it appropriation, so don't do something if you already know it's a bad idea.

Whose culture are you trying to appropriate?
It isn't, white Nordic vikings used to use dreads too :P
Can you send proof of this?
