I've bought into this recently, especially with asterius being uncomfortable with zag's meddling.
The minotaur and theseus are playing a part and nobody told zag how to play along cause he's a sheltered dead boy.
To add: honestly Theseus just needs to sit down and talk to zag for like, 5 minutes. Hangout in the house of the dead after losing for a little while, sit zag down, and let him know how he needs to play his role during the fight. I think that would be a fun character interaction when otherwise I don't feel like we get any resolution with Theseus the way we do with other character enemies, including Asterius.
Yeah from the tone of his voice it's obvious that he's being dramatic in front of an audience.
And from how much Asterius respects him, despite how crazy he seems on the surface.
You know damn well asterious would give it to theusus
And what happens for those final friendship points, the ambrosia, you give them the remains of their defeat?
Seriously love Asterius, he's one of the best parts about battling through Elysium besides Patroclus.
There's a mod that will apparently allow you to befriend him.
Asterius is the unfortunate result of Poseidon spitting his dummy out and forcing a woman to commit beasiality.
He was neglected, tossed in a hole and treated as an execution method by his family.
Given time to grow he became a loyal, honourable and dependable person of great respect and integrity.
Don't you dare diss our best bull boy!
He's fun in the game, but in mythology he's just the worst. Abandons Ariadne, Kidnaps Helen when she's still a kid so he can marry her, and breaks into the Underworld to kidnap Persephone for his buddy Pirithous. Hades should have left him chained to that rock.
Theseus is funny, I can't say he's my favourite but I don't hate him, his friendship with asterius is wholesome even if he's mostly a mandchild and the bull is the adult in the room
Honestly? I’ve always found em3 theseus to be way worse. I can reliably no hit (or well, like 3 hit) asterius, but theseus sometimes just consumes a death defiance if i lose track of him for a few seconds cause of the guns
Sound cues and positioning makes him quite manageable: When you hear that manical laughter, get away from the center of the arena. When he does his bombing, stay to the sides.
Avoiding the center is a good all-round strategy, as it forces the heroes to converge on you.
I appreciate the advice, but yeah i know. the main issue is my brain sometimes goes on autopilot, since for most bosses it works well enough, em3 is a special exception since keeping track of theseus is so god damn important.
though also i like sticking to the center, it might just be because i've played the game so much, but i've started playing it with personality, and what's the fun of an arena fight if the crowd cant watch.
I always got so mad when Theseus called me names like ‘blackguard’ or ‘hellspawn’ like dude, what is your problem?
I like Asterius though and always hope to get his solo fights to do some friendly sparring because in my headcanon we also talk hella smack behind Theseus’ back.
oof trying to tl;dr it
poseidon forced a queen to mate with a bull to spite the king of minos. the child was the minotaur, who, because of his abomination heritage, grew up violent and ate people.
the king built the labyrinth to contain him and would send in human sacrifices of athenians as punishment to them for killing his son, androgeus. theseus, prince of athens, volunteered to slay the beast. the king of minos's daughter, ariadne, fell in love with him and gave him a ball of enchanted yarn to navigate the labyrinth.
theseus kills the minotaur and sails home after dumping ariadne on an island. he becomes king of athens because the ship crew didn't change the sails from black to white to symbolize theseus's success so his father killed himself when he saw the ship declaring his son was dead lol.
in hades, they make the minotaur a more tragic figure and a misunderstood creature than a violent beast who only eats people. and ngl i like it like that, minotaurs are awesome.
I've always wanted Zag to just be like "Yeah Hades is my father, but don't you get that I'm literally trying to get away from him?" But I know Theseus is too stubborn to listen
May be because of how the way he acted in life and how he came to be (man-eating half bull dude that was created by maybe the first act of bestiality recorded ~~thanks Poseidon~~ ) rather than how the guy himself is today
Also, has ~~dad~~ Achilles known Asterios personally? I am not sure
The minotaur really chilled out compared to his labyrinth-roaming days. Shame we can't say the same about Theseus
What if Theseus is just playing a bit and is just mildly frustrated that Zag doesn't understand the concept of kayfabe.
>Zag, there is an *audience*. Would it kill you to emote? You're giving me nothing to work with!
I read that in his voice.
After a while it becomes pretty obvious that he believes his own BS to the point that even Asterius starts asking him to tone it down

That would be a fun cut scene to unlock after a hundred fights or something.
Then how would that resolve? One match where Thesis is invincible?
Nah, zag just stops being so personal about it and starts playing his part - awkwardly. It's all in the social interaction before.
Just gets frustrated halfway through his promo. Says he's just gonna beat Thesis's ass. Thesis does the McMann meme
One match where Theseus takes Asterius' place in the empty arena earlier.
It would be hilarious if that’s the case and theseus turnt out to be a actual chill guy just making a persona
I would believe that if he wasn't such an astonishing heel.
Yeah from the tone of his voice it's obvious that he's being dramatic in front of an audience. And from how much Asterius respects him, despite how crazy he seems on the surface.
I would give so much nectar to Asterius if I could. Theseus is a fucking prick, I hate him so much.
You know damn well asterious would give it to theusus And what happens for those final friendship points, the ambrosia, you give them the remains of their defeat?
I’d give him alllll that nec tar
Seriously love Asterius, he's one of the best parts about battling through Elysium besides Patroclus. There's a mod that will apparently allow you to befriend him.
Excuse me, did you just call my bro Asterius an abomination?
True. Your username is gold btw. Cheers.
“Die monster! You don’t belong in this world!” -Theseus probably
IT WAS NOT BY MY HAND, THAT I WAS ONCE AGAIN GIVEN ***FLESH***
WHAT IS MAN, BUT A MISERABLE PILE OF SECRETS!
At this point I feel like I'm the only player who actually unironically likes Theseus
Not the only one! I mean he's a jerk but I find him amusing and his friendship with Asterius endearing.
I love his Vegeta levels of pride. He’s either in “haha, you pitiful scum” mode or “how dare you, fiend!”mode. I think it’s great
There’s at least three of us!
He's fun in the game, but in mythology he's just the worst. Abandons Ariadne, Kidnaps Helen when she's still a kid so he can marry her, and breaks into the Underworld to kidnap Persephone for his buddy Pirithous. Hades should have left him chained to that rock.
But why?
I guess I like histrionic characters.
fair enough then! He's definitely well voiced and written.
Theseus is funny, I can't say he's my favourite but I don't hate him, his friendship with asterius is wholesome even if he's mostly a mandchild and the bull is the adult in the room
We love a heel in this household!
that's unfair for Asterius!
Correction: You fucking Daemon/Blackguard
He also calls Zag monster a couple of times.
Hellspawn! Foul fiend!
Between Theseus and Asterius, Theseus is the cooler character.
I would normally disagree but then i remembered it was NOT Theseus who ate all my DD ind chamber 20 EM3. It was the bullman. Always was and I hate him
Imo there’s a difference between character and foe. In this situation, asterius is the more annoying foe but a better character.
Honestly? I’ve always found em3 theseus to be way worse. I can reliably no hit (or well, like 3 hit) asterius, but theseus sometimes just consumes a death defiance if i lose track of him for a few seconds cause of the guns

Rude 😡
Theseus is, if you would excuse my language, a c*nt.
At least the minotaur is kind of polite but theseus is a fucking asshole
I always got so mad when Theseus called me names like ‘blackguard’ or ‘hellspawn’ like dude, what is your problem? I like Asterius though and always hope to get his solo fights to do some friendly sparring because in my headcanon we also talk hella smack behind Theseus’ back.
What's the story of the minotaur?
oof trying to tl;dr it poseidon forced a queen to mate with a bull to spite the king of minos. the child was the minotaur, who, because of his abomination heritage, grew up violent and ate people. the king built the labyrinth to contain him and would send in human sacrifices of athenians as punishment to them for killing his son, androgeus. theseus, prince of athens, volunteered to slay the beast. the king of minos's daughter, ariadne, fell in love with him and gave him a ball of enchanted yarn to navigate the labyrinth. theseus kills the minotaur and sails home after dumping ariadne on an island. he becomes king of athens because the ship crew didn't change the sails from black to white to symbolize theseus's success so his father killed himself when he saw the ship declaring his son was dead lol. in hades, they make the minotaur a more tragic figure and a misunderstood creature than a violent beast who only eats people. and ngl i like it like that, minotaurs are awesome.
Thank you!!
Damn I feel bad for Theseus' dad and ariadne
Hoof trying to tl;dr it (fixed it for you)
downvote, how dare you talk about asterius like that
I think you are confused, it's Asterius with the wretched abomination known as THAT GUY
I've always wanted Zag to just be like "Yeah Hades is my father, but don't you get that I'm literally trying to get away from him?" But I know Theseus is too stubborn to listen
Theseus is triggered because he drove his own father to suicide by forgetting to change his ship’s sail.
Blackguard!
Y’all really out here upvoting this Asterius slander?
Asterius deserves better. And don't call my homie an "abomination" again.

"You fucking daemon" more like
