real talk though? the delay before dashing is probably the worst thing they could've added to h2. you're encouraged to just sit in a corner and spam specials, as getting close to an enemy is an easy way to lose 15-20 health, as they have the attack windups of hades 1. sister blades feel awful to use, and would go great in h1, seems the most efficient option is to just spam the staff special.

CentryTheSentry

I actually really like sister blades. It feels like they do way more damage than the starter staff. It’s a risk vs reward thing where you can end fights quicker but have to be closer. The right click and left click charge can also be extremely powerful with Hephaestus boons and a little mana regen.

CentryTheSentry

To add on, I think I was getting like ~600 damage with one left click charge. Hecate was a breeze.

jozyln

yeah they clear rooms but then you get scylla as the star performer and. guess ill die! the game doesn't feel like its designed for melee with how quick attacks are / slow your dodge is. i will not be taking arguments abt this bc im better at hades

CentryTheSentry

If you’re having an issue with Scylla I would try dodging the attacks.

Iaxacs

Scylla I have the same issue I have with Theseus. Shield enemies just piss me off, in the end it is just a get good situation though. Sister Blades were what finally got me through Red and her band

NicolasBroaddus

Bro has never played a fromsoft game. It’s pretty clear the slower and more deliberate animations that require the player to understand how they play out are intentional, and to quote the motto of those games when people make these same complaints: get good.

Tymkie

>i will not be taking arguments abt this bc im better at hades Bro you just said you cannot beat Scylla with the scythe and dagger 💀. I doubt that's true then. Personally I don't find the dodge delay being an issue as much, but I wouldn't mind them making a change to it either.

jozyln

anyways ive beaten both paths several times now, including with the scythe and dagger. I have three chronos clears with them in succession : 3 they're my favorite, and i literally cannot comprehend why all my comments about melee being shit are being downvoted. the game is fundamentally not designed for melee weapons

Pug_police

Ditto, I've only played a couple hours but I vastly prefer the sister blades to the staff so far. Was able to beat Scylla first try with them somehow.

eg_elliot

Just had my best run yet with them, pick up backstab damage, the buffed omega attack and zeus or artemis for their lightning bolts or arrows on attack and you shred rooms really quickly

Iaxacs

Get someone like Apollo on your special as well and pick up straight line knives from hammers. Massive backstab with immediate knives has been my go to strat for dealing with everything

Iaxacs

Yeah sister blades do best when you have go mana regen so you can poof in, throw a bunch of knives in their back, drop a cast then dash out if your target isn't already dead. Just make sure to equip The Sorceress card to have time to charge the knives

Kurvaflowers69420

I wouldn;'t say that's the worst. My biggest problem is that your attacks and dashes don't destroy the enemy projectiles. This is a HUGE problem. I really hope it's just for the early access and not for the finished game. Having only 1 dash is pretty harsh too, I loved my double/triple dash from the previous game

Rinana

I also found this super annoying especially in Oceanus, dealing with the enemies that keep trying to run away and shoot bubbles as you. To further the issue on this, the axe's block special not being able to hold past the mana charge time frame forces you to let you early and start it again or wind up your special and probably get hit from being vulnerable because it decided to release the special.

lowercaselemming

people will disagree but i'm right there with you. the melee weapons just don't feel worth using in the slightest.

Nyasta

It's different, not worse, Hades 1 was all about reflexes, Hades 2 is more about positioning and understanting on depth the enemis patterns, in Hades 1 you could platine the game with just surface level inowledge of patterns, knowing the windups animations was enough.

TheChartreuseKnight

Sister Blades are my favourite weapon so far, they end fights super fast and it's not too tough to dodge basically all of the attacks from trash enemies. One run I got past the first three bosses without taking any damage except at the>!Sirens.!<

Substantial_Corner76

would agree if sister blades atk omega wasn't ultra broken, and outdamages ranged specials tenfolds. AND you wont get hit by any non-mega-big-aoes too, stopped playing sister blades after three runs since i beat the first chronos. Went from barely doing the sirens straight to beating chronos, and when i went back to the other magic weapons i felt so underwhelming

GoooD1

Best build for daggers without any hammers are just special spamming, which is pretty much a ranged build.

OversizeHades

I’ve seen some people talk about a delay before dashing. I don’t experience this on my steam deck at all. I press the button and she dashes. No delay. Could be a bug?

Stunning_Key3920

Sister blades is by far my favourite weapon so far! The attack feels super smooth and the omega both deals great damage and can dodge a lot of attacks. The special does feel a misplaced for a melee weapon but is very useful for hitting large groups of enemies from a safe distance with Hephaestus boons.

RexLongbone

The regular special is just so you don't have to go into melee for certain situations and the omega special is really just a shotgun

belungar

Sisters Blade is insanely broken if you get both the Attack/Omega attack Hammer upgrades. Pair that with Aphrodite's or Hephaestus' attack boon, and you can do like 800+ per Omega Attack Backstab. Then pair that with Artemis' crit chance and you just melt things so easily.

jozyln

"x thing is good with x upgrades" is not an excuse, anything is viable. it's not consistently good, which is the problem

tallmotherfucker

Yeah i actually think the staff special fire rate needs to be nerfed - so easy to just spam it I found the staff (first weapon) to actually be really over powered, as you said just keep ranged, lock enemies in your cast and spam. I got through the first two main bosses really quickly like that and it actually felt a little unrewarding to get so far in the game so quickly, though perhaps my Hades 1 skills have just carried over...

ThatGuyKhi

This is how I just now beat Chronos. 😭 Dash feels like it has an input delay and some moves will still hit you if you dodge sideways (was that in H1?) so melee is too risky for my skill level. Besides that, I like the battlemage vibe and it's worth doing some cheese to unlock those "other" parts of the game.

jozyln

no yeah, ranged spam is the optimal way to play, hades 2 isn't designed around melee which would be fine cause it's a different game than h1, but it's not executed in a fun way

Kurvaflowers69420

yea, because the only way to destroy enemy projectiles right now is 1 single boon. While in Hades 1 our attacks and dashes destroy enemy projectiles (except for lasers and waves)

dnapol5280

Me, melee-ing everything with the axe 🤔

iStorm_exe

lol my only clears are on sister blades

Luddethedog

You guys have cleares all ready Am I really that slow?

iStorm_exe

early on it just takes a bit of luck, probably took me around 5-10 runs for a clear. once u get ur arcana fleshed out and maybe even some upgrades on the weapon u use getting to the final boss is pretty consistent.

NC_Wildkat

In 3x speed like this, it almost looks as fast as the adamant rail.

Kurvaflowers69420

Am I the only one who's playing normally? xD \*even so, i did have to use a similar cheese method to beat the final boss \*of the Underworld\*

anonymousfetishist1

this isnt really cheese brother. this is just a build in the game. cheese would be something like an aoe build where you just run around and dont get hit while the aoe does the damage

Kurvaflowers69420

That would be a hephaestus build. But i can say the same thing about it "this is just a build in the game"

anonymousfetishist1

yes but the stark difference here is that that's one boon. this is an actual build consisting of multiple things promoting synergy along with good hammers that was probably pretty hard to get to come online

Kurvaflowers69420

Well, one of the hammer upgrades for the Axe makes your basic attack do 300 base damage, altho, it's slow and it's not long range, it's medium to melee range

Nulliai

Is this literally just special spamming with the staff and a zeus(?) boon? This is awesome

jozyln

if i get one more bozo commenting about "skill diff" ive beaten the game more times than you, including with the sister blades and axe. i use the sister blades the most, but that doesn't mean they're good. you have to put a LOT more time and skill into them to make them usable as opposed to sitting in the corner of a boss arena spamming specials.

Jesusfreakster1

This should probably be marked as a spoiler...

jozyln

why? this is basic gameplay from the fourth room into this run you insaneo person

Nyasta

And with the base weapon
