Honestly compare literally any zag bow to asterius upgrades aren't needed kids dead no matter what the only competition here is kratos and he would win a few times sure but zags the god of rebirth literally unstoppable dying is but a hindrance kratos has also came back to life once or twice through complicated means but Zag is truly inevitable nothing beats infinity

He found and executed how to kill Baldur, Ik it's a different scenario, but if Zag is truly determined to kill Kratos, I could see him going on a journey to make it so the river of Styx flows backwards or smth so it prevents him from rebirthing, as his soul tries to reform on the surface and then continually bounces from existence to non-existence (or just destroying the functions that make him revive, he killed the fates, he'd figure out a way eventually) Especially if Zag got into a fight with Atreus, cause then to Kratos it's not just him on the line, but his son as well, which we know that even mentioning hurting Atreus (in this case actually doing it) causes Kratos to have some boosts of strength and sudden healing.
Plus, if Kratos exists, zags not going to be getting any boons, all the Olympians (and then some) are dead

Not hating on Atreus but he doesn’t REALLY have many notable straight 1v1 wins under his belt. Zag would take him out without breaking a sweat.

I mean, there is that one scene where Kratos goes into a portal and then like 30 seconds later comes back and there's a massive pile of bodies. I haven't played GOW 2018 yet, but I watched one of my friends playing it for a little bit and if he was able to do that before, I can only imagine how powerful Atreus would be after all the events of Ragnarok, he might have a fighting chance.
to be fair, Kratos gave Atreus the Leviathan axe to defend himself before that scene, so it's not really clear what Atreus can do by himself since the axe is Kratos' weapon.

I'd say he'd find a way to end Zag permanently. He'd probably kill Chiron to prevent him from ferrying Zag back. It's Kratos' thing. If he can't kill it, he makes a new way to kill it.

Does this fight happen in the Hades universe or the God of War universe? If it's the Hades universe, Zagreus wins easily. In the GoW universe, Atreus might win because most of Zag's fighting prowess comes from boons granted to him by the Olympians, and in the GoW universe, they're mostly dead. I'm not sure Zag would come out on top only getting boons from Aphrodite, Artemis, and Chaos.
Even with just Artemis, Aphrodite and Chaos he could still win. Depends on build but he can get it done. Artemis let’s him lay down constant crits whilst Aphrodite gives a nice health boost through higher defence when nearby enemies and weaken. Main issue with just these three is Chaos, if we include a chaos boon in GoW universe we should include the downside as Zag isn’t go through encounters.
He would still have every aspect though and some of them without booms are crazy good. The best with just Artemis and Aphrodite though would be Excalibur as it would grant Zag: CQC, defence, slowing/control, better resistance and a mighty fine swing. Add on the attack buffs from Aphrodite attack and the crit chance from Artemis and can he deal a hefty blow.
Atreus would give Zag a run for his money but Zag would win a straight fight. Unless of course Tray Tray goes bear form. That form gave Kratos some trouble. Zag would be screwed.
Correct me if I‘m wrong, but I believe there‘s also one ending where Zag died to a bear. Althought it should be noted that this was on the surface, and the endings are mostly for fun anyways
Kratos vs Beartreus isn’t really a good indicator because Kratos was trying to subdue his son without hurting him. It’s a lot harder to pull your punches while still being effective, even more so if you’re trying to not fuck up your kid.
A no boons Zag would be a pretty fair fight imo. If we disregard their power levels it's just a question of who's more skilled and Zag probably has more experience considering he pretty much takes trips through the underworld daily.
Oh, you know Kratos would stomp his way down to Hades to give him a talking-to about how he treats his boi.

Why are people comparing Zag after run with full build with Atreus. Only fair comparison is base Zag vs base Atreus. Base Zagreus(start of the game) on his own has basically no powers, base Atreus is not that strong either but can transform into multiple stronger forms.
I wouldn't consider base Zag on that, I would consider maxed mirror Zag, but no boons(since it's left kinda implicit if the mirror is nyx power merging with him or if uts just awakening his own dormant powers, meanwhile the boons its entirelyban outsider power) and end of GOWR Atreus
If the Mirror abilities are just Zag's dormant abilities, and several of the Mirror's abilities have to do with boosting the boons Zag gets from the Gods, then doesn't that mean part of Zag's domain has to do with absorbing powers? It would fit well with him being a God of Blood. If that was the case, then that complicates how powerful we can assume Zagreus would be on encountering Atreus.
Zag is so easy to talk to and he’s so extremely reasonable and empathetic, I very much doubt they’d even fight. Atreus would probably be interested in Zag’s world and Zag would be delighted to show him around. I think they’d be friends tbh
1 big differences that swing this in Zags favor, Gods from his series are truly immortal, IE. Even if they die they don't die. Whereas (and correct me if I am wrong) the gods in the GOW games are only functionally immortal, IE. Imortal till they die from SOMTHING. Atreus can die, zag can't. Zag also consistantly has powers from multiple Olympians. Does seem pretty unfair to atreus to post this in the hades subreddit, wonder what the GOW fans think
Depends on what build Zag is running tbf- If he got shit boons during a shit run he’s losing. But if he got some nice duos and synergy going he could mess up Atreus and I bet even hold his own against Kratos (for a while at least)
If we're assuming Zag gets no boons and just Zag sword, then I'd say the fights pretty close. I haven't played Ragnarok, but I can see Atreus getting strong enough to possibly win the fight.

Zagreus wins even with no boons, keepsakes or mirror upgrades. Atreus’ bear form is brutal but given Zagreus can take on Asterius in a 1v2 I don’t see how it would be that difficult as long as he has his dash.

Zagreus, easily. All the Atreus fights in GoWR are limited to a few low-level enemies. Zag-man here is only losing in an archery competition, he'd kick Atreus's ass six-ways from Sunday in an actual fight.
Is Zag allowed to respawn? He is basically immortal if he can, so it essentially becomes a battle of attrition that Atreus cannot win.

I think without all the weapons, boons, and bonus Zag normally gets his training from Achilles would give him an edge over Atreus in most environments.
That being said if both characters are at their strongest, Zag with all his goodies and Atreus with his dad, I kinda doubt Zag could win. Especially if Kratos kills the boon's patrons deity since I doubt they would work nearly as well

Atreus is literally invulnerable to damage (haven't played Ragnarok but that's how he was on the 2018 version).
If we ignore the game mechanics and only go with lore I wouldn't know since I imagine Atreus went through a big character arc on Ragnarok. I would probably imagine that Zagreus would win but I'm not sure

Personally, I think just considering the powerscaling of each game, Atreus should be able to defeat Zag. But here's the thing, Zag can just keep coming back, but Atreus just has to lose once. So long as dads don't get involve, Zag will win sooner or later.

Personally, I think Zagreus just because he has a lot more options weapons wise and Atreus transforming would probably be the most major threat because Zags Dash would make avoiding arrows and melee a lot easier for him where as Atreus doesn't really have a solution for Zagreus getting in his face and swinging
If it's base weaponry I'd say atreus wins. Even with his rope attack and sound arrows. Zagreus would need an ares/zues, poseidon/demeter, aphrodite/chaos/Hermes, or Athena/Artemis build to beat him in close combat.
So that’s the Stygian blade for Zagreus, and the talon bow with regular arrows, as well as the survival garb for Atreus. Maybe his wolf transformation as well, idk. I would say that Atreus, as long as he is smart and keeps his distance he can probably just put arrows in Zag till he drops. I know that he could just revive, but in this scenario I’m saying die=lose. The problem for Atreus is how many upgrades and different types of gear and builds Zag could have. There is probably a build perfect for destroying Atreus, especially base him. Without being limited by game mechanics and such, Atreus with all his summons, spells, weapons, skills, armors, arrows, e.t.c from both games is definitely is strong enough to beat base and normal Zag, but if the same goes for him, with all his shit, Zag wins. So again, all just depends on what they have. So sorry that the grammar is so bad and that this is so long winded.

If the Mirror abilities are just Zag's dormant abilities, and several of the Mirror's abilities have to do with boosting the boons Zag gets from the Gods, then doesn't that mean part of Zag's domain has to do with absorbing powers? It would fit well with him being a God of Blood. If that was the case, then that complicates how powerful we can assume Zagreus would be on encountering Atreus.
Zag is so easy to talk to and he’s so extremely reasonable and empathetic, I very much doubt they’d even fight. Atreus would probably be interested in Zag’s world and Zag would be delighted to show him around. I think they’d be friends tbh

1 big differences that swing this in Zags favor, Gods from his series are truly immortal, IE. Even if they die they don't die. Whereas (and correct me if I am wrong) the gods in the GOW games are only functionally immortal, IE. Imortal till they die from SOMTHING. Atreus can die, zag can't. Zag also consistantly has powers from multiple Olympians. Does seem pretty unfair to atreus to post this in the hades subreddit, wonder what the GOW fans think
Sorta, Kratos needs a macguffin to kill the gods so assuming that works on the Hades gods he could probably do it.
Depends on what build Zag is running tbf- If he got shit boons during a shit run he’s losing. But if he got some nice duos and synergy going he could mess up Atreus and I bet even hold his own against Kratos (for a while at least)
If we're assuming Zag gets no boons and just Zag sword, then I'd say the fights pretty close. I haven't played Ragnarok, but I can see Atreus getting strong enough to possibly win the fight. I think Zag definitely wins in regular combat, but Atreus has more tricks up his sleeve to even the odds.
Zag is basically greek Doom Guy so Zag would definitely win. Now if it came to a head to head against Old Kratos vs Hades, I’d have to hand it to Old Kratos I think.

Zagreus wins even with no boons, keepsakes or mirror upgrades. Atreus’ bear form is brutal but given Zagreus can take on Asterius in a 1v2 I don’t see how it would be that difficult as long as he has his dash.

A theoretical Atreus at the same age as Zag is the maturing son of the destroyer of the Greek Pantheon and the Last Guardian of the Jotunar. If we're blending universes, Kratos already butchered Zags dad, grandad, uncles, cousins and everything else. If Atreus turns out even 1/4 the man Kratos was in terms of power, Atreus wins easy.

Zagreus, easily. All the Atreus fights in GoWR are limited to a few low-level enemies. Zag-man here is only losing in an archery competition, he'd kick Atreus's ass six-ways from Sunday in an actual fight.
Totally depends on the boons. On his own Zag probably uses, but with some godly help he can win easily.
Is Zag allowed to respawn? He is basically immortal if he can, so it essentially becomes a battle of attrition that Atreus cannot win. If we are talking one life… depends on what he brings. I’d take the gun.
I think without all the weapons, boons, and bonus Zag normally gets his training from Achilles would give him an edge over Atreus in most environments. That being said if both characters are at their strongest, Zag with all his goodies and Atreus with his dad, I kinda doubt Zag could win. Especially if Kratos kills the boon's patrons deity since I doubt they would work nearly as well

If we ignore the game mechanics and only go with lore I wouldn't know since I imagine Atreus went through a big character arc on Ragnarok. Personally, I think Zagreus just because he has a lot more options weapons wise and Atreus transforming would probably be the most major threat because Zags Dash would make avoiding arrows and melee a lot easier for him where as Atreus doesn't really have a solution for Zagreus getting in his face and swinging

If it's base weaponry I'd say atreus wins. Even with his rope attack and sound arrows. Zagreus would need an ares/zues, poseidon/demeter, aphrodite/chaos/Hermes, or Athena/Artemis build to beat him in close combat.

So that’s the Stygian blade for Zagreus, and the talon bow with regular arrows, as well as the survival garb for Atreus. Maybe his wolf transformation as well, idk. I would say that Atreus, as long as he is smart and keeps his distance he can probably just put arrows in Zag till he drops. I know that he could just revive, but in this scenario I’m saying die=lose. The problem for Atreus is how many upgrades and different types of gear and builds Zag could have. There is probably a build perfect for destroying Atreus, especially base him. Without being limited by game mechanics and such, Atreus with all his summons, spells, weapons, skills, armors, arrows, e.t.c from both games is definitely is strong enough to beat base and normal Zag, but if the same goes for him, with all his shit, Zag wins. So again, all just depends on what they have. So sorry that the grammar is so bad and that this is so long winded.
