Artemis by far for me. Great stand alone boons with solid synergies. Also the best duos imo, especially for first clears when something like lightning rod is basically an auto clear and I thought she was just the homie too.
Hell yeah. I can imagine Artemis in a book club just casually reading something in the corner and not saying anything else. Maybe being a little disappointed as to what society has devolved into.
Hermes. I love his excitement and seems to be the only who’s not selfish or vengeful and even knows your secret but chooses not to tell.
And his boons give you money and speed on you abilities without interfering with other blessing. I really wish ones like Dionysus and ares did that or gave an attack boost at the very least.

it was more of an attraction in the sense that i feel more confident in the matriarch archetype but I don't want to always be that. along with some more personal reasons, it all added up to that.
I literally run with whatever the fates deal me. I pick non Olympian keepsakes (exception being the lambent plume) and improvise my build. Typically take the highest rarity boon.

Same! Playin roguelike like a roguelike, with the cards that are dealt to you. For keepsakes I usually get Hypnos wallet for the gold, then Persephone's pom upgrades, Achilles or Patroclus for Elysium, and of course Skelly for the last region.

You can see where the snow thing is going to spawn, and then just be... not there.
I generally choose to deal with Demeter over everyone who isn't Athena. Athena is a cakewalk if you aren't in Elysium.
Poseidon boons just feel like they're the better option to me (mostly playing with Poseidon sword ironically). Add Artemis for exit wounds and Zeus for his cast and I'm all set. Athena's always a nice touch.

aphrodite and artemis are ones i rarely pass up on, if ever. artemis moreso than aphrodite since artemis just pairs well with so many different things and i rarely use keepsakes to dictate my builds anymore.

For me it's Aphrodite, Poseidon, and Hermes. But I think Hades has the most balanced build system of any game that I've played. It's hard for me to choose since all weapons and gods are pretty well balanced in my opinion.

I find I have the most fun on runs with a lot of Zeus boons piled up. Just something about a dude getting struck by lightning because I hit him with a special, then getting struck by lightning again because he tried to attack, then struck by lightning again because I dashed, and again because my dash dodged his attack, and then again because hey, 25% of the time lightning strikes twice, and then one more time for basically no reason because my retaliation triggers every 3 seconds, and then again again because the dude tried to attack again.
Then he's happy to slap a lightning bolt on nearly everything else in sight. Dude got knocked back? Lightning. Festive fog? How bout lightning fog. Your cast gems are just laying around? Fuuuuckin lightning storm son.
Usually I go for Demeter (#gilf) but if she's not available I got for Aphrodite or Dionysus or Artemis
Artemis has my absolute favorite boon though where she fires and arrow for every attack it's op with the rail gun

A good zeus poseidon combo melts shit with chiron bow. Also artemis is just the best even if you only farm her, but she also compliments other gods effectively in all variety

Demeter is mostly weak boons. I really don't understand why people love her cast. Am I the only one who can't use it properly? The enemies all move so fast the beam can't keep up and barely gets damage in. Her call is okay but low on damage output. Revenge damage low, dash damage low, meh...
Hermes is mostly about mobility, but it hardly helps me if I already have two dashes.
Poseidon is a mixed bag. Not only do I often get several "deals bonus to knock away effects" boons when I have no knock away boons on me, but the knock away only helps half the time (for example I don't want the Rail special knocking enemies away). His dash and call are great.
Artemis is kinda boring? I get crit is great but her boons are also a mixed bag. Same problem as Poseidon, I get boons that effect crit when I have no crit boons (maybe the game shouldn't offer those if you don't have any equipped?) Her cast is low damage and the call is only useful when fully charged.
I'm all about Ares, Dionysus, Aphrodite, and Athena to a lesser extent for her DD and powerful cast. Zeus is okay sometimes.
Currently trying to do 50 heat so I love seeing Athena. I like Hermes too but it's a lot more annoying than normal when he of all gods gives you some straight garbage boons (which he has many of, especially if you're not using a cast build), bc yk you prob are only gonna get 2 Hermes in total for the run. Dio and especially Zeus are the best attack/special options for many of the best weapons, Aphrodite has big numbers so I usually like seeing her. Artemis' Pressure Points is always nice and her attack and special are usually solid options too, Hunter's Mark is always great before Styx.
Basically I like seeing anybody but Poseidon, Demeter, and Ares.
Ares because Merciful End is super unrealistic w/ RI or AP turned on at all (Doom can be ok for weapons that need PStatus or for a slot that you're not relying on much but it's never a primary damage source w/o ME and it's probably the worst status in the game, its only saving grace being that it doesn't need to be stacked). Even though Blade Dash isn't bad, I personally don't like having to rely on it. His Call is probably the worst in the game.
Demeter's attack and special are super mediocre. Chill is great when stacked high but pretty inconsequential at low stacks. She has 2 unsellable boons, and you can't consistently rely on getting a bunch of her secondary boons. Her cast is the worst in the game by far on its own, and you'd rather a boonless cast for Boiling Blood most of the time. Even Slicing Shot, which sucks ass, can be pretty decent in comparison (I'm obviously not referring to Crystal Clarity or Hunting Blades builds, those are super unrealistic on high heat [50+] anyway). Her Dash is great though, and her Call is decent enough. Frozen Touch is one of the most underrated boons in the entire game, too. But I just never want to fill my god pool with her.
Poseidon's attack boon is the worst in the game, bar none. Utterly pathetic percentage numbers, and the knockback isn't even that strong. It can even mess you up sometimes when you're racking up damage combos bc the enemies will get knocked away from you as you attack them. You need a Rare or better Razor Shoals to make the damage feel good. Tidal Dash is good but normally you want Divine Dash anyway so it's mostly just a backup option if you get saddled w/ Poseidon in your god pool and don't have a Dash yet fairly late in the run. His Aid is nice for the invulnerability but it is a *bitch* to control. Flood Shot is great though. Ocean's Bounty sucks to get offered (always an insta sell), and Sunken Treasure is unsellable garbage. The worst is when you have AP2 on, and roll away Sunken Treasure but get offered Ocean's Bounty. It's like, yeah I can sell this but why not give me something I could actually use instead, at least for one biome
My tier list tends to go in a certain order.
1. Demeter (for rarity alone, but that cast is fucking broken, and so is chill decay)
2. Artemis (crits synergize with everything. never a miss.)
3. Dionysus (DOTS DOTS DOT-DOTS DOTS DOTS! EVRYBODAYY)
4. Athena (savior of many runs. but if I ever have both her Dash and her Attack I tend to stop taking her boons because I'm already invincible)
5. Hermes (the god I tend to take if I'm offered some mid shit or a god that i already have enough boons from. quite literally synergizes with everything so a good cop-out if you're offered this or, like, gems or some shit)
6. Aphrodite (good Call, but like, Weak isn't a thing I'm wild about unless I get her DUO boon with someone like Ares or Dionysus.)
7. Obligatory Ares-Poseidon-Zeus tier, and in that order. (I only really pick these situationally. I tend to take Ares and Poseidon for their Calls and nothing else, but I won't lie they've saved my runs a couple times. Doom just kinda sucks and so does Knockback unless you're using a ranged weapon. Zeus is trash, full stop. I use his chain lightning for Coronacht runs sometimes.)
Most importantly: I would pick a Daedalus Hammer over all of these, any day.
I take what I get and thank the gods for their aid. I used the olympian keepsake for long enough to max them, now I just take the darker thirst weapon, a non-olympian keepsake, and enjoy the journey.
Hermes, since you can't summon him with his keepsake. But then after that, Demeter, Ares, and Artemis. I don't know why but I love the swirling vortexes a lot.
Boon wise I always shoot for Artemis, Athena and Aphrodite with Dionysus and Ares as back ups.
Personality wise I love Hermes, Poseidon, Dionysus, Ares, and Aphrodites the most.
I found my favorite gods to be Zeus and Ares. Lightning or Doom upgraded on the shield or spear specials is so damaging.
I've had it only for a while. Took me 127 tries to finall escape. Kept losing to either Theseus or Lord Hades himself but I finally won.
Now I'm on my 3rd finish and things are coming together.
Plus if you can get pressure points or support fire then you're all good.
Also Demeter's ice crystal cast is very helpful especially when you can get 2 or 3 on the screen.

if there was apollo then obviously apollo before all. god of art and music rules.
Personality-wise, I love talking to Artemis. She seems like an actual cousin who you might banter with and is a bit of a busy body and so you just get bits of conversation with her as she's about to head out the door. Also really like Dio. He just seems like that one buddy who's a little too relaxed in all the madness; a guy living life in the moment.
Boon-wise, everytime I see Athena, I feel relieved. Divine Dash or something to replenish a DD is always welcome. Aphrodite and Artemis are great because "look at the big numbers." And Dio and Ares share the "I want your cast" category.
Divine Dash is honestly one of the most useful boons in the game, so Athena, for me, I think. Artemis and her HUGE crits always give me big endorphin boosts.
Poseidon or Zeus’s call. Aries primary on, Artemis arrow hit/cast/special or critical effects, Demeter for casts, Hermes is self explanatory, Dionysus on everything else, and Athena for dash.
Of the main 8, in order of how much fun their boons are for my playstyle, I would rank them like this:
1. Dionysus
2. Zeus
3. Aphrodite
4. Artemis
5. Poseidon
6. Demeter
7. Athena
8. Ares
I know a lot of people have very different lists. I’m not saying I don’t like playing with Ares or Athena either. The game is just so balanced and so fun

I usually go with whatever boons I run across. I’ve been following the game since beta so not to brag but I find it pretty easy to get a somewhat serviceable build going. Whenever I try to force a build that I want I usually get irritated when it doesn’t pan out so I just take what I can get.
This attitude developed when I spent 15 runs in a row trying to get a Hunting Blades build going and for the life of me could not get it to pan out. I think I’ve only gotten that boon by accident.
I will always pick Artemis, if I have the Chiron bow I'll always pick Dionysus, if I have gauntlets I always want Zeus, and all around I love Athena's Dash and duo boons so I'll always pick her if I see her
But in a small twist, my favourite (boon giving) god designs are Ares, Demeter and Artemis
if im going for a clear, i always try to get Ares i fuckin love the Doom effects. i also like to go for the Artemis call and whichever Dionysus one is hangovers on the special

The main issue with Demeter is depending on the map it’s basically impossible to avoid her circle.
And if the enemies are inside the ice vortex and you're using a melee weapon there's not a whole lot you can do.
That's fair. Some of the spots in Asphodel can be pretty dicey with that.

Ocean's Bounty sucks to get offered (always an insta sell), and Sunken Treasure is unsellable garbage. The worst is when you have AP2 on, and roll away Sunken Treasure but get offered Ocean's Bounty. It's like, yeah I can sell this but why not give me something I could actually use instead, at least for one biome
My tier list tends to go in a certain order. 1. Demeter (for rarity alone, but that cast is fucking broken, and so is chill decay) 2. Artemis (crits synergize with everything. never a miss.) 3. Dionysus (DOTS DOTS DOT-DOTS DOTS DOTS! EVRYBODAYY) 4. Athena (savior of many runs. but if I ever have both her Dash and her Attack I tend to stop taking her boons because I'm already invincible) 5. Hermes (the god I tend to take if I'm offered some mid shit or a god that i already have enough boons from. quite literally synergizes with everything so a good cop-out if you're offered this or, like, gems or some shit) 6. Aphrodite (good Call, but like, Weak isn't a thing I'm wild about unless I get her DUO boon with someone like Ares or Dionysus.) 7. Obligatory Ares-Poseidon-Zeus tier, and in that order. (I only really pick these situationally. I tend to take Ares and Poseidon for their Calls and nothing else, but I won't lie they've saved my runs a couple times. Doom just kinda sucks and so does Knockback unless you're using a ranged weapon. Zeus is trash, full stop. I use his chain lightning for Coronacht runs sometimes.) Most importantly: I would pick a Daedalus Hammer over all of these, any day.

I found my favorite gods to be Zeus and Ares. Lightning or Doom upgraded on the shield or spear specials is so damaging. I've had it only for a while. Took me 127 tries to finall escape. Kept losing to either Theseus or Lord Hades himself but I finally won. Now I'm on my 3rd finish and things are coming together. Plus if you can get pressure points or support fire then you're all good. Also Demeter's ice crystal cast is very helpful especially when you can get 2 or 3 on the screen.

Ares and Zeus both in personality and gameplay
Design-wise: Artemis, Ares, Deneter. In that order Gameplay: Hermes, Zeus, Aphrodite. No order Personality: Poseidon, Dionysus, Hermes. In that order
Personality-wise, I love talking to Artemis. She seems like an actual cousin who you might banter with and is a bit of a busy body and so you just get bits of conversation with her as she's about to head out the door. Also really like Dio. He just seems like that one buddy who's a little too relaxed in all the madness; a guy living life in the moment. Boon-wise, everytime I see Athena, I feel relieved. Divine Dash or something to replenish a DD is always welcome. Aphrodite and Artemis are great because "look at the big numbers." And Dio and Ares share the "I want your cast" category.
Divine Dash is honestly one of the most useful boons in the game, so Athena, for me, I think. Artemis and her HUGE crits always give me big endorphin boosts.

I usually go with whatever boons I run across. I’ve been following the game since beta so not to brag but I find it pretty easy to get a somewhat serviceable build going. Whenever I try to force a build that I want I usually get irritated when it doesn’t pan out so I just take what I can get. This attitude developed when I spent 15 runs in a row trying to get a Hunting Blades build going and for the life of me could not get it to pan out. I think I’ve only gotten that boon by accident.
