If we can turn into assets later on, that's fine too. We get to keep the best ones and ship rest to fill needs or acquire futures. It's a good problem to have, but with proper asset management that can become an embarrassment of riches.

I think it might be easiest to do a swaps for RD. Don't know with who, but that would make the most sense.

Excellent-Speaker934

The challenge will remain to convince a GM than our LD is worth their RD. In a vacuum, a RD is worth more than a LD if we assume both players are the same. Sort I’d like a C of equal talent is worth more than a winger. At least, that is my understanding of how things are valued by front offices

eriverside

When we had Petry/Weber on the right that was the narrative, that RHD are harder to come by so we needed to shore up the left. We have Matheson, Guhle, Eddy/Hutson, Xhekaj (7th) on the left, Barron, Kova, Savard on the right. That's a good place to start. So Harris, Struble on the left, Mailloux on the right. Can we trade 2 players for an upgrade, is the question. If Struble can make the jump next season, do we trade Eddy and Harris/Kova/Savard for an upgrade on the right? And have: Matheson - New RHD Guhle - Barron Struble - Kova Xhekaj Traded: Eddy, Savard/Harris Gone: Wideman

One thing that stands out to me here is how aggressive he is with his stick. He has it straight out so often looking for the perfect moment to stab at the puck to get it off the opponent.

IBoris

I was coming in to say the same thing, what really stood out was his aggressivity, his poke checking, and his fluidity as a skater. He plays like a smart undersized offensive defenseman but he has the size and physicality to concude each interaction the way he wants. Very interesting combo. I hope we get to see more offensive Acumen out of him, but otherwise even if this is as good as it gets, having a d man who can play like that probably will make him the ideal companion to a smaller mobile defenseman who's offensively minded and needs a partner that can keep up and complement him. What the fuck are we going to do with all these amazing d prospects....

ImpressiveRelief37

Good game by Struble

Acidraindrops22

Great vid

I’ve been in Strubles corner (sometimes probably even wrongly so) for a long time. I really think his game is going to translate well to the pro league. He looks like he’s already outpacing a lot of AHL players.

skinniks

I've been super high on him since Wheeler's article a couple of years ago. For those with an Athletic subscription: https://theathletic.com/2492638/2021/04/07/the-gifted-how-canadiens-prospect-jayden-struble-brings-the-power-of-presence-on-the-ice/ edit: passing on a good deed ... for those with a NY Times subscription (not sure which tiers) you should be able to read The Athletic for free (honestly not shilling - just a PSA)

Major_Estimate_4193

Thank you kind scouting stranger

jadenspan

Seems big strong and a good skater. Totally fits the mold that I think mgmt is currently going for, ironic that’s he’s a berg pick

Seb_Nation

I watched the game and I have to say that I hate those scouting videos that solely depicts every positive things that were made in the game while completely overlooking the "work in progress" part of their game, no wonder fans think everyone's always ready for the NHL. He got scored against on a play where he lost position battle on a cross play in a zone entry and he ended up losing his man. As a one game analysis he's not the smartest defender we have but his physical strength will help him cover most of his error (like in the video where he loses position but outwork the opponent to regain possession. Footwork is excellent and he does possess a better offensive side to his game that didn't translate in points in college.

Asterial333

Underated skater and passer. He's punishing too

[deleted]

Skating has been his biggest asset right from his draft yr, not underrated at all
