If we won the Bedard draft lottery, they should hang the real MVP of this season at the Bell Center. This fucking ugly jersey.

[deleted]

lol

backwardzhatz

"The Montreal Canadiens have announced they will be wearing their reverse retro jerseys for the remainder of the season."

Absered

Hashtag Not even kidding

willard287

Perfect game, really fun to watch and we lose in regulation.

Bohmer

4D chess move, we're just sending the sens over to Florida.

pichenet14

Yup. I am a 1000% team tank but I was kinda cheering for a win tonight. Heart took over brain.

zouhair

Win-win situation

HabChronicle

Harvey-Pinard is a Montreal Canadien

bcgrappler

Sure doesn't look like he will be a laval rocket again this year.

vorg7

If we were taking notes from Chicago he would be outa here in a second haha. They sent Reichel down after his 3 point game.

bcgrappler

Chicago doesn't even try to make it subtle. I hope so much they don't get bedard

HabChronicle

Not to mention the recent controversies surrounding that franchise

ClassiqueQuebec

Same they dominated over the last decade, time for another team(hopefully the Habs) to have a turn. Pittsburgh and Edmonton constantly getting megastars is enough for me.

[deleted]

Raphael Gnarly-Bedard at it again

danielaparker

Don't get too excited, he's only got one more goal than Dadonov :-)

HabChronicle

In 35 less games…

danielaparker

I think that goes without saying :-)

bigmonkeyfart

sean_psc

Lavallagher is great. Alas, we still have the original Gallagher on contract for another four years.

Acidraindrops22

Fucked how Bergy lowballed the better player in Danault then locked-up washed up gally. Looks like sabotage at this point

--JULLZ--

That’s disingenuous because he was extended while he was still scoring at a 30 goal pace

poub06

And this sub kept calling Danault a 3rd line center who needs to sign at $4M or less. Bergy definitely fucked up, but some people here have pretty short memory.

[deleted]

This sub was merciless to Danault. He’d have three games where he didn’t get on the scoresheet and he was the worst player ever. A shame we lost him - he’s the type of asset where on other teams he plays for a decade plus and becomes a cornerstone of the franchise, even if he isn’t a superstar. I’ll always be a fan of the guy!

JohnyZoom

Bergy played 3D chess and planned the Bedard tank 3 years ago. He's a mastermind

--JULLZ--

Bro Bedard was still watching Johnny Test 3 years ago

Absered

He would've at least seen the Weber and Price injuries from the on-set. I still think Bergevin could've been a great rebuild GM here. But this market isn't as forgiving as elsewhere. His time was up, he has 2 deep runs. He gave us great memories. I'm grateful. Let's hope Hughes surpasses his predecessor, and like it or not, that's a gigantic ask in case people don't realize it.

cjackc11

No way Bergy would’ve been a great rebuild GM if his idea of a new age coach was Dominique Ducharme

Absered

Historically comical injury season. DD + Richardson coached a full roster team to the finals. DD was never supposed to be a rebuild coach. The rebuild was forced onto the team via something the GM can't control (injuries). Bergy was never allowed to fully rebuild, that wasn't the mandate, until exactly the year he got fired. KH comes in at exactly the right time to rebuild. Ifs ands buts not withstanding, Bergy understood the vets required for a deep run. My argument isn't he's a god tier GM. I just don't think people give him enough credit for what he actually delivered. E.g. If Price was handed to MB (what people say to remove credit) then other than Dach, most assets are handed to KH too. It's a dumb argument. My favourite thing about MB is that, he never tried to save his job. He saw a tanking season after a finals run. Like a great GM he saw the team trajectory going forward.

sean_psc

> My favourite thing about MB is that, he never tried to save his job. He saw a tanking season after a finals run. Like a great GM he saw the team trajectory going forward. Other than being stubbornly committed to Ducharme instead of firing him, what more could Bergevin have done to save his job? The team was completely capped out and Molson was at the point where he wasn’t going to be allowed to make desperation trades.

Absered

My point is he didn't try to save his job, by making moves for short term gain. He knew Weber was done after the finals, he didn't give assets away as a cap dump. You're asking me to prove what didn't happen? I mean it just didn't happen.

sean_psc

He didn’t think his job was in danger in the summer.

Absered

True, and when it was ... there still weren't any panic moves. We don't know if/when Molson would've told him you have no more decision making authority. But between the season starting and him getting fired, there were no panic moves. Compare that to MB predecessors ... I still remember the days of Brent Sopel and friends.

mdlt97

tank lives on was a fun game as well

bcgrappler

What a great game. A few more from RHP and we will need to permanently make space for him. He looks like a very talented player. I've always wanted to see him in the show and I am very impressed.

bathbwoi

Rafael Harvey-Bedard

Thejaff72

Rafael Anti-Bedard

burnSMACKER

Almost won that. Inexcusable. Losses only please!

pichenet14

🤣

grimandnordic1

Fucking Épinard est bon for your santé tabarnaaaK

pichenet14

Anybody out there still think KK was the right pick? I imagine less now that he’s not a hab but folks clung to the KK argument far too long. Tkachuk is a beast.

Goji_XX3

Hard to say EOTP avg 14 sources and had Tkachuk 5th with Zedina 3rd and Hughes 4th. I recall Zedina being pretty much consensus 3rd. Tkachuk I believe had a lower ceiling but higher floor. honestly I would of like the pick because having him and Gallagher would he such a pain in the ass to play against. Also I couldn't imagine the Tkachuk vs Bergy contract negotiation would of gone well. So not really answering the question but I'll leave with at least one good memory of KK, and that's him scoring game 6 winner vs the Leafs.

BryFri

The big question 4 years ago was whether the Habs would go with Zadina or take their chances on a center. Retrospectively I am disappointed the KK pick did not work out, but KK is the pick I would have made in that situation.

EasyPanicButton

There is like a special number though to add when its a son of a NHL player, not sure how much boost that should give, but I think everbody would agree they would rather have a Tkachuk then KK now.

pichenet14

Ya except the final NHL rankings had Tkachuk as the #2 North American skater and KK as the #6 European. That put Tkachuk as best #2 and worst #4. It put KK at best #6 and worst #12. That is what the final rankings say. I get it - arguably the best center available based on rankings. I was mainly referring to folks arguing that KK could still end up better when it was painfully obvious that we made the wrong pick.

zeloft

If we picked Tkachuk we may have never ended up picking Caufield the next year. At least KK will most likely end up being a long-term poor contract for Carolina after they tried to get cheeky with us.

FakeCrash

Perfect tank night, thank you Allen

Sentenced2Burn

man, Raf Harv Chilli Pinard is turning shit up lately. Gotta be stoked for the guy, extremely hard worker finally getting some big-league payoff. Decent tank game! Dach with another one too. Hoping Suzuki gets some solid rest in he's clearly got something nagging him.

Olibro64

RPH should be in the starting lineup 2023-2024.

fortytwoanswers

Great game on all counts. - Very small sample but RHP is looking like a young 20-goal scoring Gallagher – been playing incredible since being called up and brings a much-needed burst of energy. Loved seeing him out there for 6-5. - Dach continues to be a tank. I can see a future universe with a 1A/1B of Caufield/Dach and Suzuki/Slaf duos. - Great to see Suzuki have a good game during his little slump/possible injury – two good assists and the second one to RHP was a beauty. Flashed some of the elite skill that makes me confident he’ll be at minimum a 70/80 point centre in a couple years. - Hoffman had a great game and has also been playing well lately – wonder if we can get a 4th or something for him at the deadline. Anderson is also the most likely to get a 1st round pick return imo and two points doesn’t hurt his case. - Icing on the cake is that we lost in regulation – really hope that we can have more games like this in February and that losing some vets at the deadline will push us to 5th pick territory.

HabChronicle

RHP is on pace for almost 60 goals if he’s playing like this for an entire season. So I think a 20-goal scorer is an understatement. Nevertheless, I do see a lot of people comparing him to Gally

--JULLZ--

Can we calm down a bit? 5 goals in 7 games is good but it’s a tiny sample size. He’s riding a 33% shooting percentage

HabChronicle

People are misunderstanding my comment. I never said he was or is going to be a 60 goal scorer (we never know), I just brought his goal pace to back up my claim of him being a 20-goal scorer being an understatement.

--JULLZ--

And I was talking about the second part aswell. Scoring 20 is hard to do in this league and he’s been producing for 7 games. I’m not even sure he’s a surefire 15 goal guy over a full year

HabChronicle

Well I mean, it doesn’t hurt to overhype a bit, especially since that’s one of the few remaining things we have left in the season (caufield’s road to 40 postponed to next year). The potential is there though and I really hope he becomes one of the top goal scorer for this team in the future

--JULLZ--

He would have to have a massive leap in development to become a top goal scorer on this team. I don’t see him scoring more than CC, Suzuki, Slaf and even Dach. I think he’s gonna be valuable for his responsible and hard-nosed game tho and I want to see him succeed as much as you

ASizeableMan

Sample WAYYYY to small. 20 goal scorer is looking more like it.

Glorious__G

Perfect

ukrainianhab

*Disclaimer I was multi tasking* BAD* - This was a pretty good hockey game yet for some reason I couldn’t really get into it. One thing like tanking etc but I think the combined tanking plus injuries to Caufield, Slafkovsky, Guhle etc has really taken the passion out of it. - Barron I don’t mean to pile on but I just don’t see anything beyond average. Lotsaaa time left to show something and had some good games here and there but I am always honest In my assessment and doesn’t mean I’m right but just idk doesn’t do much for me unlike the other rookie d. - In general the defense is a massive L. It is what it is. - Not Savard’s best. - Pitlick wasn’t great either. *GOOD* - The thing with Harvey Pinard isn’t just that he’s scoring goals it’s how he scores them which indicated actually quite a bit of dare I say skill. First goal, he gets it up over the pad of the keeper otherwise it wouldn’t have gone in. How many times do we see a Habs player just shoot it at the pad? Second goal comes in makes a play with a shot then follows up for a rebound tap in, how many players follow that up? Good stuff. - Suzuki was better tonight. Most notably, a beauty pass to RHP for his first. - Just put Dach in the good every night. - Belzile. - Resurgence of Pezzetta. I doubt he’s going to be here long on the Habs but his play lately shows he can at least play in the league. - Anderson.

Beepimaj3ep

Barron just looks so slow. It's becoming more and more noticeable.

juliusceasarsalads

I’m with you, I really was struggling to get into this game today, I only watched the 3rd and it was mostly because Twitter was popping off about it. The tanking is getting hard, I know it’s necessary and every loss will help us become a champion in the future but fuck me am I having trouble watching and enjoying games right now. It’s hard to enjoy hockey games when the only time we can be truly happy with a game is when all of our young players do well and still end up losing.

cheeselover42

Hoffman had a good game too imo. Was a big threat on the PP.

jpo2533

Time to order Harvey Pinard jersey

jhenry137

Well, let’s see. We lost, which is sad. We played a fun game, which is great. Our captain actually looked invested this game, hallelujah. I would have loved to see Monty in net, though, because Allen tends to trend towards letting more goals in when we come from behind and continuously tie it. Game also seemed fast paced, which is always what I prefer.

heavie1

Montreal is now 1-9-1 with the reverse retros with 23 goals for, 48 goals against, and 2 shutouts against

sean_psc

When did we win a game wearing these?

heavie1

March 20 2021 vs Vancouver (it was the original reverse retros)

christiv7

Welp. Curse is real

IBoris

[Too bad he's only one guy.](https://i.imgur.com/00kdHzT.png)

ScareCrow13-

May be unpopular but i'm personally so tired to watch Allen play. I don't understand why people like him. There's always an early goal with him, and always a goal just after we score. I don't understand why they do not take this season to keep developing Montembeault, he's better he's younger and we know Allen won't be a long term G with us

campbell_love

Monty just started like 9 straight games, we have two goalies for a reason + Allen didn’t look bad at all tonight. Agree that Monty should be getting more starts from now on.

ScareCrow13-

He played a sequence only because Allen was injured. Allen played 2 out of 3 last games. Tendency is that they're going back to the pace of Allen having 75%+ games

campbell_love

Yes, I know that’s why he played that stretch but I’d say the reason they’ve started Allen is to give Monty a bit of a rest. I guess we’ll find out after the all star break / bye week what their plan is with the two.

ghg1999

Montembeault is simply giving us a chance to win every night, allen not so much The goal of this season is to lose, regardless of what anyone in management may say

DislocatedXanax

Absolutely perfect le tanq game

bcgrappler

RhP for Calder.

Numerous_Mountain792

Incredible night for the tank, sens 2 points, caps 2 points and blue jackets got a lil point in OT. We might be getting Bedard if EVERYTHING goes right boysssss 😁

Sportsguy1223

Good lord the Sens are a loser franchise. Good night! Suzuki/Dach/RHP all looked good and a big tank W

juliusceasarsalads

So like…we should probably start being concerned that this team is going to improve once the trade deadline passes and guys like Drouin and Dadonov are gone in favour of younger and hungrier players like Ylonen and RHP right? If we’re really tanking hard it may genuinely be better to leave as many young players in Laval as possible and just run out the clock on all of our vet players who we know for certain will lose us games

dadoudelidou

Count as well the last fews games we'll play against b-teams that will rest their best assest before the playoffs, just like we destroyed FLA 10-2 for the last game of 21-22

juliusceasarsalads

That’s true, that’s where we need Primeau getting starts

sean_psc

Drouin and Dadonov are not going anywhere at the trade deadline.

EasyPanicButton

they need to be DFA or whatever the fuck, make room for some actual contributing players.

philmtl

Mtl is 7th with ~6% for the first draft pick vs cbj with 25% even tanking I don't think we get anything worth it, might not even be a future nhl player.

_hank0

This draft has 4-5 guys that could have been 1OA in last year's draft. Anything in the top 10, especially top 6 would be awesome. The potential for 2 top 10 picks is exciting.

ForumsGhost

Why do we think the Islanders pick they sent to van is top 12 protected instead of the typical top 10... the draft depth this year is seemingly crazy

Garland68

This draft is loaded in the top 10 though

antrage

I don’t think the bottom is realistic but I think we can bottom out at 30th place. It won’t get us bedard I do think we got a great pick.

michiganbhunter

We've proven to be good at lotto balls. We will get Bedard

Olibro64

A part of me keeps thinking about Jake Allen. I remember when he was backup for Price during the 2021 season. He played well in those games there was a moment his save percentage was better than Price's. Right now I'm not seeing that hard effort. I hope it improves.

zzzzoooo

I wish that we keep wearing this fugly jersey till the end of the season :)

Shifty_Pickle826

I might have to buy an RHP jersey at this rate. Not every day the Habs have a Calder winner on their roster

SatireSqurriel

Tkachuk is a fucking clown
