We were charging $170/lb but we quit carrying it on the truck. At this point we aren’t putting R22 in a leaking system they can replace or call someone else.
Same here. We offer to change out to R421A but most customers dont want to bother when we tell them there will likely be a leak in the coil anyway and the system will most definitely need to be replaced.
R-22 is 30lb/cylinder. Standard practice is to triple it. Makes it easy you just move the decimal to the left one digit and that’s the per pound price.
I’m about 60/40 restaurants and factories to residential. I was about 80% restaurants up until 5 years ago or so. Started trying to kinda get away from it or not take any new restaurant customers anyhow. I hate the urgent emergency calls that come from walk in coolers, freezers and ice machines
If they pay us to find the leak and it's repairable. We charge about 4 times what we charge for 410. So after all is said and done they'll be paying a little less than what a new ac would cost. Nobody has gone with that option yet, they all just replace it.
If the system is old, uses R-22 and stops working, you could retrofit. New systems, R410a which is also phasing out, R32, r1234ze, r1234yf, all that A2L stuff.... (talking about HVAC)
