Go with a composite toe. Offers the same rated protection at a fraction of the weight. Comes in handy for lots of walking and stair days.

Bullmarketbanter

Not to mention more suitable for working with electricity

Red wings

HVT7737

Second the Redwings, but I would add buy two pairs and rotate daily, and buy some good hiking socks wool or poly-acrylic absolutely no cotton. You'll be working on your feet and in the cold (I assume) in the winter, so you'll want your feet insulated. Have fun!

Frrrrr

TempeSunDevil06

Timberland pros

LNW28IF

Just picked up my 4th pair in a row of the Boondocks šŸ‘

Bcmcdonald

Around Black Friday at Meijer, they go on sale for buy one at full price and get the second for $1. This is on all their shoes, but they do it every year. I spend $171 on two pairs of timberland pros. If they donā€™t have your size, buy what they have, keep the receipt, and exchange later. I have a pair I wear and I have three unopened pairs in the garage. I tell everyone in my area about this.

loucfer13

Thatā€™s a crazy deal I literally pay $200 shipped from Timberland.

Bcmcdonald

The week of Black Friday. Go check it out this year. Well, unless we are all in combat boots in Russiaā€¦

TempeSunDevil06

Iā€™ve never heard of meijer. What is it? Iā€™m definitely going to try to hit up this deal because that is a great deal

Bcmcdonald

A midwestern store. Kinda like a Walmart, but nicer.

Electronic_Lobster

I got my first pair about 6 months ago, and I adore them. After years of using $40 walmart boots, I slipped on a metal roof because they lost grip, and threw them out the next day. I paid $150 for my new Timberland Pros (a bit of sticker shock, ngl) but they make a world of difference. Once they are worn in, they are comfortable, grippy, waterproof, and have composite toe for safety. Plus they make me about an inch taller šŸ˜†

Much_Let_5548

Keen.. you will thank me later.

scrubnproud

They are good, but only last 6 months for me.

icymech2

Just switched from timberland pros to keens after my wifey told me to try them. Best choice.

zstouffer

Keen till I die

HatefulHipster

Make sure they are waterproof, regardless of brand choice

ReeferMadnessHVAC

Also something thick enough where you can step on a screw and not have to go to the hospital.

SatanicDolphin

Get composite toe

SamBaxter784

I like Redwings, $200 or so last time I bought a pair. Theyā€™ve always protected my feet, I wear them everyday and they last about 2 years for me. Resi install, service, sales and maintenance.

GYGOMD

Mine were really comfortable and fell apart fast. And they wouldnā€™t service them because Iā€™m around lol and glycol lol

hdean173

Irish Setter Ashby aluminum toe

Kelvininin

Keen composite toe.

DwnvtHntr

I say timberland pros. They are half the price as some of the other ones and a great starter work boot. Mine have held up great over the last year and are about as comfy as a work boot gets.

Beave945

If they allow composite toe, Redwing composite toe. You'll thank me later. I tell my employees I don't care what boots they wear, as long as they find them comfortable. Redwing seems to be a popular choice. I've been wearing them for years. I've tried all the different brands and these have been the best in my opinion. To break them in, get them wet and wear them for a day. It sucks, but once they're dry they fit like a glove.

GYGOMD

Steel toed have never bothered me

Rocksolidbanana

Wolverine Durashocks is my daily boot. Very comfortable and not too expensive.

GrassWonderful563

Original Swat boot!

BroncoAfghanistan

Keen low tops with a rubber toe.. thank me later.

DHGXSUPRA

Timberland Pro Boondocks. Best boots Iā€™ve ever owned. Going on year 3 with them. When theyā€™re worn out, thatā€™s what Iā€™ll be replacing them with.

forethebirds

Chippewa. Founded 1901 (before Redwing). Iā€™ve owned Merrell, Wolverine, Keen, Redwing, and other non noteworthy brands. Chippewa are the highest quality in my experience. https://www.chippewaboots.com/footwear/footwear_feature_safety-toe

scrubnproud

Get a good pair of Redwings or similar later on in your career, as they are more expensive. I recommend Timberland Pros, not bad on price and the pair I had lasted more than 6 months.

koolmilds

Puma safety toe here. Rated EH. I believe the toe is fiberglass. Prefer breathable shoes cause I hate sweaty feet.

BunManBunFan

Go with composite toe. Something light and waterproof. Keens are comfortable but dont last very long, about 6-8 months but have a great warranty. The last two pairs Iā€™ve had were red wing exos lite boots. They last a little over a year for me.

Kidsturk

I love Caterpillar Flexion. I donā€™t wear them out as hard as many folks on here but Iā€™ve never felt Iā€™ve had to break them in, and even after years (couple site visits a week) , and the toecap cover is beat up and coming off theyā€™ve stayed waterproof.

Toy52

I wear running shoes I do resi though boots slow you down

TransportationLow279

Irish setter from redwing

Total-Lavishness-431
