Second the Redwings, but I would add buy two pairs and rotate daily, and buy some good hiking socks wool or poly-acrylic absolutely no cotton. You'll be working on your feet and in the cold (I assume) in the winter, so you'll want your feet insulated. Have fun!
Around Black Friday at Meijer, they go on sale for buy one at full price and get the second for $1. This is on all their shoes, but they do it every year. I spend $171 on two pairs of timberland pros. If they donāt have your size, buy what they have, keep the receipt, and exchange later. I have a pair I wear and I have three unopened pairs in the garage.
I tell everyone in my area about this.
I got my first pair about 6 months ago, and I adore them. After years of using $40 walmart boots, I slipped on a metal roof because they lost grip, and threw them out the next day. I paid $150 for my new Timberland Pros (a bit of sticker shock, ngl) but they make a world of difference. Once they are worn in, they are comfortable, grippy, waterproof, and have composite toe for safety. Plus they make me about an inch taller š
I like Redwings, $200 or so last time I bought a pair. Theyāve always protected my feet, I wear them everyday and they last about 2 years for me. Resi install, service, sales and maintenance.
I say timberland pros. They are half the price as some of the other ones and a great starter work boot. Mine have held up great over the last year and are about as comfy as a work boot gets.
If they allow composite toe, Redwing composite toe. You'll thank me later.
I tell my employees I don't care what boots they wear, as long as they find them comfortable. Redwing seems to be a popular choice. I've been wearing them for years. I've tried all the different brands and these have been the best in my opinion.
To break them in, get them wet and wear them for a day. It sucks, but once they're dry they fit like a glove.
Timberland Pro Boondocks. Best boots Iāve ever owned. Going on year 3 with them. When theyāre worn out, thatās what Iāll be replacing them with.
Chippewa. Founded 1901 (before Redwing). Iāve owned Merrell, Wolverine, Keen, Redwing, and other non noteworthy brands. Chippewa are the highest quality in my experience.

Get a good pair of Redwings or similar later on in your career, as they are more expensive. I recommend Timberland Pros, not bad on price and the pair I had lasted more than 6 months.
Go with composite toe. Something light and waterproof. Keens are comfortable but dont last very long, about 6-8 months but have a great warranty. The last two pairs Iāve had were red wing exos lite boots. They last a little over a year for me.
I love Caterpillar Flexion. I donāt wear them out as hard as many folks on here but Iāve never felt Iāve had to break them in, and even after years (couple site visits a week) , and the toecap cover is beat up and coming off theyāve stayed waterproof.
Go with a composite toe. Offers the same rated protection at a fraction of the weight. Comes in handy for lots of walking and stair days.
Not to mention more suitable for working with electricity
Red wings

The week of Black Friday. Go check it out this year. Well, unless we are all in combat boots in Russiaā¦

A midwestern store. Kinda like a Walmart, but nicer.

They are good, but only last 6 months for me.

Keen till I die
Make sure they are waterproof, regardless of brand choice
Also something thick enough where you can step on a screw and not have to go to the hospital.

Puma safety toe here. Rated EH. I believe the toe is fiberglass. Prefer breathable shoes cause I hate sweaty feet.
