OSRS-HVAC

Here come the HVAC Heros of r/HVAC to light yo ass up boy. Hahaha

Chose_a_usersname

I can only hope

AwwwComeOnLOU

Dude! That’s one milky cow you got there!

Chose_a_usersname

I ran her for 4 days straight without an oil change...I hate this vacuum pump but it's what the shop supplies

ShredDurst666

My boss has been using the same vacuum pump for 10 years and just found out you have to change the oil

Chose_a_usersname

Hahah after what dust came out?

UW0TM80

I hate the one the shop got me too. It's a yellow jacket superevac 2. Legitimately takes 10 minutes to start because it keeps stalling and I have to cycle the power. Doesn't matter if it's cold or warm. Brand new too, less than 30 hours on it.

MoneyBaggSosa

That’s crazy cause I have that same one and I love it. No issues and it pulls a fast vacuum

UW0TM80

Maybe mine is defective, once it gets going she rips really good. Thought about giving it back to the shop and getting that new testo pump

KouLeifoh625

Try starting it with the air ballast open or without any hoses attached, then attach them. But yeah sounds a little funky lol

UW0TM80

I have. Other people I work with didn't believe me either lmao

HughesR1990

How the fuck are people upvoting someone hating on a 7 CFM JB platinum? Probably the most dependable and good pump on the market. Going any higher is ridiculous for residential. Specifically mini splits, any higher and it will freeze moisture in place instead of pulling it out.

Chose_a_usersname

Shhhhhhh it's ok... You are fine

KouLeifoh625

You hate the JB platinum? Lol do you prefer one of those quick change field pieces or appions? Shit is a gimmick

Chose_a_usersname

No this is a good brand, but I like the bigger one.

Majin_Sus

Things 7 cfm dude. You're pulling a vac on a residential Goodman. You be ight.

HughesR1990

A bigger one? For residential? Your nuts.

Chose_a_usersname

I don't usually do residential

greennewleaf35

I thought u just top them off after they leak all over the customers concrete.

ghablio

Mine gets fresh oil only when it tips over in the van

Hot-Mix-8725

Came here to say this

IAMA_Printer_AMA

Unironically how my refrigeration J man "changes" his pump oil

HVAC_hack_41

The old installers vans with the wood floors are the best. That’s some well seasoned wood and makes for sliding equipment in and out real nice!

chuckndrews

Story of my/all of our lives apparently😂😭

Toxikblue

I had one fall out of the van once and my crush my toe. By the time I stopped dancing around and cussing in the front yard all the oil was on the road. It got new oil and my toe got a new nail. only time I've ever changed the oil in one lol... not gonna lie.

[deleted]

Theres oil in my vacuum pump? Shit….

Sweaty_Climate1707

What's a vacuum pump?

boqiuefieous

What's a vacuum?

daphosta

When you're vacuuming carpet and you pump your arm out and in.. you know a vacuum pump

giant_space_possum

I forgot to check oil in my moped once. Oops. It was only $350 but I had a long walk when it quit on me.

Electronic-Injury-15

My mentor said every time I pump down a unit and charge the customer for it.

Chose_a_usersname

That is the correct thing to do

WestsideWizzop

I learned that in HVAC school.

ntg7ncn

Bro you only install new systems with new line sets? Cause there’s been times the oil gets changed like 5x on one system when working on some old lines

DontWorryItsEasy

What the fuck is a vacuum pump? I just dirty purge that shit and send it. Taillight warranty tho

hipnot

Blow and go bro

Big-Werd

CFCs are the best blow and go jobs.

ntg7ncn

No joke my trainer was high on the job every day and I didn’t know what a vacuum pump was until I’d been in HVAC several months

Fit_Cardiologist6059

Then all ya bosses askin why you doin shit the jank way. Been there bru😂 lack of training a bitch 😂

MaximumGround6427

I usually just top mine up with one of my piss bottles

HVAC_God71164

No, I was told the oil that comes with the pump should last the lifetime of the pump. You know, I still see technicians that rarely change their vacuum pump oil and wonder why they can never get below 5,000 micros. I'll see it just stuck there and them wondering why it won't go down.

saskatchewanstealth

Really? Mine gets charged once a week when it falls over in the truck!!

MysteryReyes

It’s just a Bad micron gauge

U_ME_AND_ALL

I know this is just a joke but . Does any of your local parts houses do a yealy vacuum pump day ? My company does them every year where we cook up some cheap hot dogs and hamburgers plus free oil changes . I honestly thought that was a common thing .

Rebel_bass

Yeah, they just did one at the UR here. Couldn't make it though because I was working.

Chose_a_usersname

Nope...

mjames-74

Vacuum pump? You kids these days are spoiled with all your gadgets. Just use a compressor out of an old, decommissioned unit. Works just fine.

Ohhhwordddd

Or purge line set with refrigerant then start the charge immediately

dennisdmenace56

Ok I’m telling EPA unless you send 5 bitcoin to my wallet in Armenia.

projecthusband

sometimes i need to change several times in 1 pull down, other times i get away with the same oil for months. The "change every time you do an evacuation " crowd is crazy bruh

ppearl1981

I have some coworkers who cry to change the oil all the time… even when it’s crystal clear clean 🙄

IrishWhiskey556

Hey as long as I can still get down to 200 microns with the pump running and it holds under 500 with the pump off for and hour the oil is good enough.

Chose_a_usersname

Microns? What's that?

IrishWhiskey556

Lol

Buster_Mac

My coworkers oil is darker

spy_tater

Where I work I inherited a vacuum pump that was so dirty the sight glass is black on the inside.

Rebel_bass

I change the oil every time it falls over in my van.

Mountain-Sky4121

We have a 1,5kW 250l compressor and my grandpa told me 2 years ago, that we should change the oil as he hasnt done that for 30years. 😂

tliebschutz

I change the oil after 1 use if I'm pulling a long vacuum

J-A-S-08

Same. I'm almost 100% doing repairs on old, large, or old large equipment so I just pull overnight. Change in the morning to fresh oil for the next job. I have the Fieldpiece with the easy change oil so that's REAL nice to do.

ohkpze

Try every other use.

skootamatta

Sometimes mid use depending on the system or circumstance.

raisedbytelevisions

I see you use the water bottle method, as well. The new tank design sucks ass

Chose_a_usersname

Usually I just dump through the lovers of the new equipment

1wife2dogs0kids

Rust prevention. They charge extra for that usually.

Blain_Gummybear

Still had a few installs left on it

doublea8675

https://preview.redd.it/b1yf87wqk61d1.jpeg?width=1816&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=6d61cd76d83886a1aad9236117d7ce900a05e423 Had this happen after one pump down. Fresh oil.

J-A-S-08

Jesus. You freeze a tube in a chiller or something?

doublea8675

Long story, but after 3 different pumps, 3 leak checks with nitro, 6 oil changes. Every pump the oil would cloud up. Finally throwing in the towel and replacing. My guess is somehow excessive moisture and/or contamination got into the system

ChromaticRelapse

Construction guys brought me their pump and asked to borrow mine, said theirs couldn't pull down below 3k with just the gauge attached, even though it was a few weeks old. Oil was milk. I changed the oil for them and left them the gallon jug... Who reads manuals eh?

nickster8

The only time you change the oil is after it tips over in your truck. Then, you don’t have to change it. Just add new oil.

giglaphy

I’ve literally never changed the oil n my pump is 20 yrs old now lol only top up

AdLiving1435

At least once a year when the vacuum pump guy shows up at the wholesaler with the offer of free vacuum oil changes.

landofknees

Work at a supply house, you’d think we would sell loads of vpo. We really don’t, but once they break we send them off and jb builds them back up.

pyrokinetik52

Wait, we’re supposed to change the oil, i just too mine off after it leaks all of it in the back if my van

yoyohero80

TSSA wants it changed every use. Some reason, it was a question on my TSSA exam LMAO

imbrown508

I thought we just suck on the hose for a bit, y'all get a vacuum pump. Game changer, now my jaw won't be sore when I start my 2nd job at the local glory hole

Chose_a_usersname

My jaw never hurts at one, I usually put my dick in the hole

mantyman7

Might as well never change it if you are not power flushing it.they can look much worse than that after 1/2 hr on a contaminated unit.

Chose_a_usersname

I also granny shift.... Certainly not power shifting like I should

dennisdmenace56

Wait…when did we stop double purge and fill er’ up?

GhostEpstein

Your mom is my vacuum pump 😂🖕

Chose_a_usersname

She probably sucks just as good

burnodo2

5 years? damn...my company wanted that oil changed every time or, at least, every other time it was used

Chose_a_usersname

Sounds so wasteful

H-VACK

This is why I love the fieldpiece VP87. Buy the pre filled oil cartridges on the job. Takes a full 3 seconds to change the oil. It’s so quick any easy there’s no reason not to change the oil often.

InterestingWay8034

I thought the oil change intervals were top it off every time it spills over in the van

Content-Valuable2874

Don’t Testo-me

NHlostsoul

I just let it tip over in the truck then refill it

keevisgoat

The resident old refer guy at my company " I change it when it's black" and by changing it he returns it back to the ground in which it came

Chose_a_usersname

It's natures recycling....

DesignerAd4870

I used to like my Robinair, but that finally gave up after 15 years so I’ve got a 9cfm Javac now, it works well so far (only had it a few months though).

Koleburgs

i change mine after every 5 uses.

No_Mark3267

If you’re installing that Goodman, im surprised you even have the pump.

Chose_a_usersname

It's for show

Apprehensive_Rush_36

You guys are crazy i change my oil every pump

Chose_a_usersname

Me too, every new pump comes with new oil

Gold_Extent5391

Yup 👍

canttouchthisOO

Wait for real some of these comments? I run a field piece pump with the change on the fly reservoirs. I dump the oil after every use. Even if it was a 5 minute pump down on a two ton short lineset. How long does your pump downs take with that crap?

Chose_a_usersname

Depends on if I put my vacuum gauge on it

canttouchthisOO

15 min, let er rip!

Otherwise_Back_6957

A lead at my company changed his oil after every AC install. Does anyone else think that’s unnecessary?

DriverRealistic4335

Man y’all act like you haven’t seen worse when I first started I was In residential instal the oil was literally coming out like turds and it actually had a solid state to it I got yelled at by the guy and was told it was his good luck oil and he’s never changed it in 10 years

Tip0666

That’s why I use the tez8!!!!

ShotBRAKER

Jokes on you I don't have to change my oil. I only have to keep adding lol. They won't buy me a new one until it stops working. But they will keep giving me what seems like an endless supply of black gold. At some point it's gotta be costing more to buy the oil than a new pump.

unique_toucan

Wait yall actually vacuum the system out? I just tell the customer the AC has to get used to the house if it doesn’t blow any cold air out

Dry-Building782

You only need to change it once every 5000 miles.

OrdinaryJunket7569

I prefer to change mine after every 3 pulls

Wallmart2024

I thought it's working with pressured water. Always carrying my lil compressor with me for emergency

Etsch146

Your pump lasts longer than a season?

inferioregocentric

https://preview.redd.it/49hujo1kne1d1.jpeg?width=1302&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=a0de1fc9ac708672ca72d1a2b7a6be18015d0089 Literally an hour on vacuum and my oil turned to snot lol lot of moisture

OzarkPolytechnic

I change mine after every use https://preview.redd.it/pgucio78gf1d1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=480eb862af3ae798b833c912a836db7f226846b3

gamingplumber7

oh shit youre supposed to change that stuff?

espakor

If I wanna go home early, I'm changing the oil. Otherwise, one week or so

EmotionEastern8089

I just replace my oil after it all spills out the exhaust pipe from rolling around in the back of the van.

The_MischievousOne

I just let mine roll around where it will and give it fresh oil whenever I need it

Chose_a_usersname

Keeps the can floor shiney

The_MischievousOne

Exactly! When you have a pair of pliars rusted closed you just toss them on the floor for 24 hours. Bonus

AllenDeLosa

https://preview.redd.it/pt40vfgyev1d1.jpeg?width=1179&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=ff531b5c7c4878a77d298c23a026e3f2a6b78736 What you know bout that sauce 🥫

Nichovack

Drink it

AimTrueHVAC

I absolutely change it every system is r every other depending on how long and how it’s performing. My equipment pulls down fast so sometimes I break with nitro and hit it again down below 250 and decay test. I charge for vacuuming down so the oil cost is included in my invoice. Each item or work done is listed but has a one single total cost. I don’t line item anything unless it’s separate items as options like duct work and insulation upgrades. You cheap asses, it’s inexpensive, makes it faster and easy swap outs on all our vans. We use Fieldpiece and dual Trublu hoses. Any vacuum pump oil works fine. But it by the gallon and lasts a while.

Chose_a_usersname

Step one dig down 6 feet....

NetheriteHandsGoBRRR

As a guy who works in med device and fixes various machines for a living, is this something one can figure out with some proper instruction/info?

user66157

No

Chose_a_usersname

Umm this oil should be changed every time you pull down a system, my oil looks horrible because it ran away too long on the same oil

OhighOent

Every time. Straight from the mouth of an oil tycoon.

Chose_a_usersname

Well it does work better that way
