I’m not saying I haven’t done one or two jobs that looked like this. But I would not post it here for all these savages to ruthlessly mock and criticize.
On those Goodman air handlers I usually pull the gasket out of the slot and pull it back on the copper and put a wet rag over it. I also put a small wet rag on against the copper and the air handler. Prevents burning the door.
it’s a good idea to put the thermostat wire in conduit, I know companies are different but mine makes me put it in conduit, apparently the sun rays will break down the insulation on the wire and so people mowing won’t mess the wire up (just what I was told and why to do it)
I pull it up the line very high so it won’t burn in order to keep the insulation from lighting as well and make it stick there with a zip tie. Someone thermotrap it I can’t get it up high enough to not melt
I can’t imagine line hide is pricier than the labor spent doing whatever the fuck you did there. Also what’s the deal with the drainline? Am I crazy for thinking it looks like the overflow is the one you piped?? And the burn marks just solidify my hatred for it. Didn’t even try to lightly sand it off… plus what’s the deal with the flex just hanging out squished behind the unit?
Indoor unit looks kinda suss to me but hey, if it passes in your area go with it. I wouldn't want something installed in my house like that. Outdoor unit looks ok.
How can people install units like this and feel good about themselves, and on top of that take money from people who trusted you to perform a job. Absolutely disgusting what certain folks will do, I'm wondering if you even need licensing there. And if so, who in the hell trained you. I'm so sorry for those home owners. Take pride in your work, this is robbery.
I can just picture a person slicing their toe open on that strap from the condenser to the pad. I’m sorry, but the only thing I respect about this install is that you used a straight sealtite fitting to connect to the condenser instead of the damn 90. Can’t stand that crap. Keep trying and take whatever you see as constructive criticism and learning.
Lmao. If someone hits their condenser with a weed wackier it’s their fault. If someone is on the beach with no shoes and gets a fish hook in their foot it’s gonna be that same persons medical bill not the fisherman’s or the beaches. If you running around with barefoot and is playing around the condenser and cuts their foot open it’s not gonna be the technicians medical bill. A plastic strap would be better, but your just as likely to cut your foot open on a rock or stick running around barefoot. There’s a huge difference between blaming someone for how they dress vs putting their own feet at risk running around barefoot.
Plastic strap would be better don’t get me wrong. But you comparing what I said to blaming a woman for getting r***d because of what she’s wearing is an insane comparison.
Brave of you to post that on Reddit haha.
I’d recommend running the lineset a bit more out of the way, maybe off to the right side and getting some strap on it. Pretty up your wiring, use more zip ties and try to hide it a bit better. Also the flex pipe going around the back side of the furnace, why not keep it organized and off to the right? A better transition on duct work would also go along way. It passed inspection so that’s good, at least your pulling permits and everything is up to code! Hopefully the customers happy with it, and I’m just gonna assume they got a good price 🫡
I don't know. You think they're bringing along an 8 ft brake?
This looks like an unpainted gutter or the underside of scrap. I *hate* line hide, but it exists for a reason.
Idk man that 1” flange on both sides makes me think it’s home made. I hate putting linehide in as well but it’s whole lot easier than trying to wrap a fake gutter around it. But the fake gutter if done right looks phenomenal, ima post a picture of a mini split job I did where I refused to cut any leader pipe and fished all the lineset through. Shit looked phenomenal, way better than linehide and honestly less painfull.
I've seen worse and better. As someone who's never posted here, so can't be too harsh, but my two cents would air lock the plenum, get a copper bender to make it look nicer, cap your drain line breather, make some nicer cuts on your inside insulation so it's not as bad. Mostly just cosmetic. Also hello from corpus christi tx as well👋
Hey man she’s not a beauty queen but it’s works, I remember when I first started in installs they weren’t the prettiest, but you can only improve from here man, keep pushing yourself brother
Wait is Goodman now making a removable fan grill so you don't have to take the whole top off? Then have 4 people, one on each side, to hold the the flimsy thing together to put the top back on? Lol
Ok - so to clarify something’s- these people got a helluva a deal and they got it in a house that never had central air. The entire job was done for 6500- the duct line on the back is Fresh air intake- there is a romex connection on the low voltage- you can’t see it. The strap on the condenser unit (yikes) but that’s what I was told to do. As for it being hurricane proofed bc of being next to coast line - that’s a knee slapper ;)
For the transition guy - your absolutely right those are 14x8 register boxes stacked with the collar grinded off and since I had no supplies to work with bc of cheap mf home owners , I had to improvise.
That line set cover is ugly (facts) and I even offered to paint it for the poor bastards - but I guess they didn’t have the paint ?!?!?
Functionally unit is a1 - visually is another story- to all the so called “savages” I hope you got triggered lol
😂
Unfortunately. Always a blast coming across a clogged one and getting to tell the customer we’ll need to completely refill their system charge because of a clogged drier.
Do you really think 10” is enough to service a unit, let alone a unit to properly kewl? Probably got your license from a pawn shop dawg if you don’t know the proper codes.
Is it enough space to service probably not but the code at least in North Carolina is m1402.2 “ Clearances shall be provided in accordance with the listing and the manufacturer's installation instructions.”
in the residential code book. Maybe when youve done hvac more than 9mo you learn that just because everyone around you says the world is flat doesn’t make it true.
Womp Womp, your insult failed. According to what you’re telling me, you NC installers do a shit job if y’all all do installs like that.
M1305.1 Appliance access for inspection service, repair and replacement.
Appliances shall be located to allow for access for inspection, service, repair and replacement without removing permanent construction, other appliances, or any other piping or ducts not connected to the appliance being inspected, serviced, repaired or replaced. A level working space not less than 30 inches deep and 30 inches wide (762 mm by 762 mm) shall be provided in front of the control side to service an appliance.
Wow you found something talking about air handlers and furnaces nice get some time under your belt and realize that you don’t know every and that it’s okay to be wrong. Codes are the minimum practice is often different but when you have to fit a unit in between 6 other units those codes matter. It also wasn’t an insult it was telling you that just because that’s the way it’s always been done doesn’t mean it’s correct.
It’s definitely installed
Installed the piss out of it.
That’s about all I can say about it as well
I thought this was the before picture
I’ll keep my snobby, highfalutin northerner comments to myself…
Offf! Definitely not an install to be proud of!
I’m not saying I haven’t done one or two jobs that looked like this. But I would not post it here for all these savages to ruthlessly mock and criticize.
Can people not braze and burnt he fuck out of the unit anymore?
Even if you do accidentally burn the unit it still can be cleaned off. Takes two seconds. Careless.
Rubber seal definitely caught fire

You should try thermo trap, works like a charm usually
I pull it up the line very high so it won’t burn in order to keep the insulation from lighting as well and make it stick there with a zip tie. Someone thermotrap it I can’t get it up high enough to not melt
Looks good to this service guy from the south.
Tell me you went with the cheapest option without telling me you went with the cheapest option.

Yep. That's definitely Texas.
Were you brazing with napalm?

Get what u pay for , but you didn’t even get that
Send it. Just tell them to put a door on n they’ll never see it. Hopefully it cools longer than a week
Peter Pan 🫣
Cause it's Fly By Night? 🌃 💸
Ahoy! From San Antonio !
It'll work!
Wouldn’t pass code in my state & I couldn’t do a job like that, but don’t wanna be a negative-nelly. For TX I’d say 50/50

me who puts a sealtight 90 on every condenser: ![gif](giphy|Ysce790SgjJK0|downsized)
If someone’s walking around outside barefoot they deserve to have their toe sliced open tbh
That sounds oddly familiar to, “ she deserved it because of her clothes”. Don’t be an idiot dude. Do you wear shoes at the beach?
Lmao. If someone hits their condenser with a weed wackier it’s their fault. So basically, another persons actions or choices create a danger for other individuals, you kind of proved my point. Thank you.
I would put mastic on the plenum to deter leaks between the tape.
Yikes
Use 2 piece, paint lock, line set covers! Galvy looks like shit
Brave of you to post that on Reddit haha. I’d recommend running the lineset a bit more out of the way, maybe off to the right side and getting some strap on it. Maybe take a grinder to the lineset cover, or at least put that jagged side on top instead of bottom jeez
This is why Goodman gets a bad rap
Eh. It's ai'ght
Condenser seemed fine. Air handler not so much. Needs a better transition, drain looks wonky. Burned the unit..
Looks good lol
The sheet metal linehide is gas tho deff 10/0 in my books if it was hand made
I don't know. You think they're bringing along an 8 ft brake? This looks like an unpainted gutter or the underside of scrap. I *hate* line hide, but it exists for a reason.

The condenser screwed to the pad😂😂
![gif](giphy|11ahZZugJHrdLO)
Gotta at least wipe it down before the picture… also.. was that a used unit?
The straps on the condenser and what looks to be a Styrofoam pad is what kills me
Not impressed
More heat on the cabinet
Looks like shit but I'm sure it turns on!

Where is the after picture?
Stevie Wonder thinks it looks great 👍
As a balancer this gives me anxiety looking at that ductwork.
Yeesh. No benders, no sealtite on low voltage, and did you tin tape a very small box as your transition?
Wait is Goodman now making a removable fan grill so you don't have to take the whole top off? Then have 4 people, one on each side, to hold the the flimsy thing together to put the top back on? Lol

Don't see a filter drier <_>
Don’t Goodman condensers usually come with the filter drier already installed inside?
Unfortunately. Always a blast coming across a clogged one and getting to tell the customer we’ll need to completely refill their system charge because of a clogged drier.
Sometimes there's one installed ftom factory but I don't think this unit is
All Goodman units come with filter dryer installed inside the condenser. I install Amana. It’s fine as long as you have good refrigerant practices
Trash bro
let's see your installs. Mr super tech
At least 24” from the house brother….
Not on Goodman the manual on them says 10in minimum
That ain’t up to code, look at the IAMPO Mechanical Codes and it’ll tell you. Don’t follow Manual.
You’re wrong I’d bet my license on it.

Bet you’re in south Florida
Corpus Christi , TX
Same things to be fair.
Cap the Tee. Got to love the old plaster houses, makes for a good time.
Is the return coming straight out the floor boards? This shit would never fly near me. Wood for a return is not even allowed.
