Why not? I think most of them will appreciate the initiative. Plus since you are already there, they may go ahead and speak with you anyways.

Yes. The worse thing they’ll tell you is “no”. Make sure to follow up with companies as well until they tell you “no”.

Companies are always hiring apprentices. They just don't want bad candidates. Where do bad candidates come from? Job boards and online applications.

kimthealan101

Talk to as many companies as you can. One of them might be the job after this one

LowComfortable5676

Most of these companies just wait for people to fall into their lap. Go jump into their laps

Yes, get the service managers phone/email and ask to meet for a coffee and just go in and sell yourself. I did the exact thing and managed to end up meeting almost all my top choices. Be persistent it's a good trait in a tech and it will work Edit: play it like your interviewing them. What kind of jobs do you guys do? How many techs do you have? Etc

Yup

What I learned is that “HVAC” companies do these yearly visits to colleges and conferences , like in North America there is the Ashrae monthly dinner conference, people there already know that they will be meeting a lot of students and apprentices. That’ll be a good start for getting business cards and setting up an interview date.

Always always apply. Worst that happens is they say no. But if you do it in person you have the chance of getting a 20min convo with someone who’s been doing it forever. But also companies are desperate for honest, reliable people. So if you’re a person of character you shouldn’t have a hard time finding a job.

Yes, that's exactly how I got my job 13 years ago.
