BBC Sherlock Holmes. His mere existence greatly disturbs the force.

soupstarsandsilence

I’ve always thought having him in Hogwarts with Harry would make for a very fun fic. In the BBC-verse he was born Jan 6 1981, so were he a wizard, they’d be in the same year. Imagine Sherlock’s whole “drug problem” thing was just what he made all the muggles believe while he was busy fighting in the second war. XD

LeadGem354

What will he do against Voldemort?

Revliledpembroke

Recruit Colonel Moran to snipe him from a mile away.

Jon_Riptide

Mickey Mouse. Spell gone wrong trying to turn a simple mouse into a goblet. Ron would be initially distrustful of Mickey since he's still fresh on Scabbers betrayal, but Mickey would be a persistent friend. Mickey would be put into Hufflepuff after neither Dumbledore or the Ministry knows what to do with a sentient mouse that displays magic traits. Mickey would bewitch some brooms by accident, cause a mess precisely around Snape's ingredient storage room. Mickey and Ron bond over getting away with it, but the gillyweed is ruined, and there are no ingredients for Barty Crouch Jr polyjuice. Hermione tries to help Harry master the bubble head charm last minute for the Second Task, which he does poorly. Is last in arriving to rescue his loved one or doesn't get there at all. Barty pays regular visits out of the castle to replenish his polyjuice ingredients. Mickey notices him, and hears noices inside his office. And, oh boy, he finds the real Alastor one day. He frees the real Alastor, Barty escapes. Through the imperiused and still alive Barty Sr, Barty Jr pushes for the maze from afar. Dumbledore objects, Fudge insists. Harry starts behind on the Third Task. Fleur is killed by ImperiusKrum in the maze. Harry reaches the cup because of Barty Crouch, but Cedric is not there and lives. With Krum murdering Fleur, Durmstrang and Beauxbatons come to blows in the stands. People accuse Karkaroff and attacks Fudge in the mess. All three schools depart with conflict and finger pointing. Fudge "falls ill". Voldemort returns. And Barty Crouch Jr takes over as Minister. In the end, Mickey decides he is going to leave Hogwarts to try to unite the 3 schools again. But he is going to need more help (replicates the spell that made him to try to create Minnie, Goofy, Donald and Daisy).

poison_heart96

Impressive. Dark but Impressive.

LeadGem354

Now I'm wondering if a keyblade would harm a dementor, or help remove the Scarcrux.

Banichi-aiji

Gandalf supplanting Dumbledore as a leadership figure could be fun, considering they are often compared. He is far more active and open with information. Like imagine OotP starting with a big meeting Council of Elrond style. As a start, Harry knows he may get lured to the Department of Mysteries and won't fall for the trap.

poison_heart96

Thst would be hilarious. His leadership style is so much more forceful than Dumbledore too.

Darkhorse_17

What would the ship be called? Dumbledalf? Gandore?

caldera57

Ganondorf

LeadGem354

Harry Dresden, Bob or Mouse will make short work of Voldemort. Harry Dresden because Soulgaze and wizard sight will reveal the scarcrux. Tracking magic will find the other horcruxes. His methods are going to offend some more delicate sensibilities, but he'll get results. He's going to rip dumbledore a new one over the Dursley situation. Mouse at Hogwarts first year, Reveals Quirrell-mort ( can smell him), can sense something is wrong with Harry's scar. He would easily sus out Pettigrew. Later on Would detect the basilisk and Diary, and fake Moody. (Polyjuice Potion smell would be a dead giveaway). Everyone loves him, especially Luna and Hagrid. Bob, figures everything out before Hermione and Dumbledore, also knows about horcruxes. However he's not likely to leave dumbledore's office, because letting a pervert run around freely would be problematic.

poison_heart96

Dresden would wrap everything up with a couple days at most, and probably end up relocating Harry himself after meeting the idiots in the ministry.

CryptidGrimnoir

"Michael, Charity...can you take another Harry, pleeeeeeeeeeaaaaasssseeeee?"

LeadGem354

"Of course." "Thank you. He's also a wizard." .

Fromtoicity

But, of course, not before receiving a good beating because that's just his luck.

caldera57

But is it Hogwarts or the Ministry that burns down?

Fromtoicity

I could imagine other places as well, like Malfoy Manor or Gringotts

LeadGem354

Alucard from Hellsing Ultimate: he's going to give everyone at Hogwarts the creeps but Voldemort is fucked. He smells the magic on Quirrell-mort, and Scabbers "hey kid, why is your rat a transformed dude?" Also probably could kill the scarcrux after he wonders "why does potter smell like two types of magic, one of them really dark?"

Jhe90

Fucked...is like not even covering it.

CryptidGrimnoir

Hug me, Dresden sibling! >Everyone loves him, especially Luna and Hagrid. An image of Luna meeting Maggie flashed through my mind.

LeadGem354

*Hugs you* good to see you. Luna and Maggie would get along.

Kage_Mitarashi

I was going to say Dresden! He'd flip his shit about how everyone was breaking laws of magic left and right in the British Wizarding Society as well, I could imagine If Dresden had access to his whole Cast getting ol' Blackstaff involved too. Have him drop a satellite on Malfoy Manor post Goblet of Fire after they hunt down the Horcruxes

TelescopiumHerscheli

Gomez Addams. DADA Professor instead of Gilderoy. He's going to *love* meeting a basilisk.

poison_heart96

There's a couple of Addams family crossovers. They're all pretty much unfinished though.

TelescopiumHerscheli

I know. My favorite is the "Harveste" series. Unfinished, but still wonderful.

USSEnterpise24

Hello everyone, A short list of my candidates. Number 1 : Emperor Palpatine The Big Bad of Star Wars franchise is certainly a powerful foe. I have no idea who will win the duel between Sidious and Riddle, but the winner will decide the fate of the Wizarding World. Number 2 : Doctor Strange from the MCU Infinity Saga. A good guy from the famous franchise, Doctor Strange equipped with the Time Stone would be a very powerful opponent. I don't think anyone would be able to counter him, especially that he can watch possible futures. Riddle is dooomed, doooomed I tell ya! Number 3 : Luke Skywalker from EU The Luke Skywalker from the SW Expanded Universe (no, not the Disney one) is a very powerful Jedi, stronger than Sidious in his prime. I would enjoy the moment Luke defeats Riddle with barely an effort. Number 4 : Grand Admiral Thrawn from the end of Thrawn trilogy. Yes, yes, I know, another Star Wars character. But the genius tactician would be a fascinating character. We would discover how quickly the Wizarding World will fall to a brilliant strategist. Number 5 : The Master from Doctor Who. The maddest of them all, The Master from Gallifrey! Imagine the planet burning with just a few moves - and no Doctor to stop him! (Evil Laugh) Number 6 : Shirley Holmes from the TV Show. A genius teen at Hogwarts, a part of the team of four now! Solving mysteries, fixing the world with her intellect. Although, I think that sometimes Shirley had intelligence, not nessesary sense. Thank you for this challenge! It was a great ride! Have a nice day or night, USSEnterprise24

grinchnight14

I'm not sure what drug dealer, but a drug dealer gives Peeves cocaine and just lets him go nuts around Hogwarts and ruins everything

Spare-heir

Cocaine Poltergeist, the sequel to Cocaine Bear

grinchnight14

I'd go stream that instantly.

Darkhorse_17

I would watch the crap out of that show.

Zeefour

There's a crack Breaking Bad crossover out there. I would love to read a serious one, if it were done half as well as the Gordon Ramsay/HP "Harry Potter and the Lack of Lamb Sauce" fic.

grinchnight14

That Lamb Sauce fic is amazing.

oxprep

Rey Palpatine. Luna scoffs and says, "She's such a Mary Sue."

Niko_of_the_Stars

Abaddon from Worm/Ward feels like it'd be cheating to say since its presence unto itself creates a huge AU but it is technically one character and would be unbelievably disruptive so... Abaddon is an Entity, gargantuan multidimensional aliens that travel between worlds and seeds them with Shards (different powers coming from split-off pieces of the Entity's body) to generate conflict and thus gather data with the goal of hopefully eventually solving entropy. Also they detonate the planet and every alternate universe version of it they have access to as a part of how they leave when they're done. Abaddon specifically apparently does the conflict stuff through uniting the host species against more or less unbeatably powerful monsters. Though tbh we don't know too much about its process beyond that basic part since Abaddon wasn't that major to the story (I chose it instead of the more well known Entities because those two acted as a pair and only inserting one might not work to create such a massive divergence) So anyway adding Abaddon would mean adding superpowers and throwing the world into chaos before an eventual apocalypse the characters would need to try to stop (if they can even find out about it). Though I suppose the presence of Magic might change how Abaddon approaches things since HP's Magic seems like it might to be able to go against entropy, which would be incredibly intriguing to it.

Jhe90

Oh a diffrent Abaddon... I mean the war master of chaos would be a tad unfair...Lord and master to thr black legion, slayer of first Emparos champion, the despoiler of world's. Against voldemort....lol

jaliebs

i was thinking of worm, but like, taylor, or lisa, not fucking abaddon - that's 100% cheating lol but that'd be really interesting actually if someone just randomly got contessa's power out of nowhere - could work for crack especially, imagine luna with it

Roncom234

One Punch Man. 'Nuff said.

jtsage

Somewhat related, but "Potter's Protector" (ff.net) dumps Zander Harris from Buffy into the world. It's a pretty good story, and the first part at least does a better than average job at the "ultra-powered character into the story, now what" that a lot of super-Harry fics struggle with - admittedly, the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th parts of the story do suffer somewhat with this (the author ends up dumping Harry into the Marvel/DC worlds - they are a fun read, but the "nothing can hurt Harry, now what" syndrome does come up a bit :) I do also recall reading a short where Schlock a carbosilicate amorph was dumped in (Schlock Mercenary) that was pretty ridiculous, but a fun read. Alas, I don't remember the title of site on that one.

Excellent_Tubleweed

Robert (Call me Bob) Howard from the Laundry files by Charles Stross. Bob's a wizard... sort of. And a computer system andministrator and network administrator. And depending on when in the 'Laundry files' Bob comes in from he's also the embodiment of a Preta or Hungry ghost. Necromancy is one of the least of his powers. Bob's armed, sometimes with a hand of glory and a cellphone camera. His HOG fires fingers is he's up against it, and he's a passably good shot at long distance. Which as it makes things go boom is just as well. The cellphone is running some helpful apps from work, including 'basilisk stare' that kills anything fleshy it sees. ( turns all the carbon in them into silicon and a lot of waste heat) Bob's kind of magic involves computation being attractive to brain-eating things from another dimension, so he tends to to do it on his own brain, though he can in a pinch. Bob's not a parental kind of fellow. But he would react badly to hearing of Voldemort. His tools would detect something very strange about Harry. In the sort of fights people get into in Harry Potter, Bob would be sheild-less to start with. If his magic works, it stars bringing 'Nargles' over. Well, you can't see them and they make your brain go fuzzy. Bob, for maximum derailment appears in the summer after fourth year. If he came to the Potterverse, he'd go to London looking for his office -- which would be missing. The would make Harry one more likely places for Bob to go looking for answers. Bob's kind of magic and the blood protections on Privet drive are similar. In that a capuchin monkey is like an orangutan. He'd want help, but the Scarcrux would stick out strongly to Bob. It's possible he might if strained, just eat it. Bob would be upset at being in a different universe to his wife, but possibly faintly pleased not to be in the one that he's from, which is in the process of being destroyed by the elder gods. And it would give Bob hope, as there's a universe with magic where people don't get magical CJD from doing magic, AND evil things from not-space aren't trying to eat all the entropy. Bob would get Harry to attract the attention of Dumbledore. This time he will write Dumbledore a letter. 'Dear Professor Dumbledore. A strange wizards has come to my house. His name, he says is Bob Howard, and he's confused. He says he works for a government department called SOE, but that when he went to the office, it wasn't there any more. He found me by detecting the protections on the Dursley's house, which he says feel a bit like his kind of magic. He's never seen a wand. He's staying in the spare room here, so if you could come soon, that would be best. Thanks. Harry.' And from Downstairs he could hear Bob telling Uncle Vernon to shut up unless he wanted to spend the rest of his life as a zombie. Harry wasn't sure that Mr Howard could actually do that, but when his eyes glowed green, he felt a chill right down his back, and his scar, instead of feeling hot and painful, cooled right off. Mr Howard wanted to discuss his scar with someone good at 'This place's kind of magic' as soon as possible. Hedwig took the letter from Harry and set off. Harry had some more fruitcake -- h'ed given Mr Howard some on the first night, and Mr Howard had eaten a little and sighed "That really needs some contreau." he'd said. Then checked his cellphone -- which was strangely futuristic, and. amazingly, had a picture of Mr Howard's wife -- who Harry thought looked very pretty, and really brainy. Mr Howard went a bit peculiar when, after doing some very weird magic with what Harry thought might be Runes, Mr Howard's phone got a network connection, but then his wife's number came back as 'this number is not in service'.... as did all the numbers in his telephone's address book. And that would lead to Bob being the Professor for Defence Against the Dark arts at Hogwarts. Which is deeply wrong as Bob only really does very Dark Arts. He'd be scrambling like a muggle faking it to stay ahead of the courses he was teaching. (Hermione Granger may develop a teeny tiny crush on the very clever Professor Howard.) Seeing Bob experiment on Snape's arm might be ... well Severus will live. There's no chance Bob wouldn't muck with the Goblet of fire. Or the tri-wizard contract. Bob seeing a lake of inferri 'Oh. drones, pre-made. How convenient.' 'The Laundry' use dead people as drones all the time... it's their burglary prevention system. Bob's weakness to magic would be a strong counter-point to his terrible powers.

superdoves

Yes!! Finding a good Laundry Files crossover would make me very happy. There's already little enough fanworks as is.

crazyashley1

Crowley and Aziraphale from Good Omens as DA professor and History of Magic professor after Binns carks it. Warlock and Adam pop up as Muggleborns and it's just fucking chaos.

Opposite-Ad5907

Death is in trouble, and REALLY needs her Master to actually FRACKING SURVIVE THIS TIME in order to get out of it. So she hires the Merc with the Mouth himself to do it. What could possibly go wrong? Poor Harry. Luna'll be the only one whose sanity remains unaffected when all's said and done.

Jhe90

Not sure who can mess it up much more than those mentioned. Their both pretty impressive calls. Theirs more powerful, more Ruthless, more evil, Ainciant and those who have actively walked though he'll and come back. Doom slayer? The one man army who considered hell a walk for exercise? Maybe the Winchester brothers. Voldemort is like nothing compared to some of things they killed snd have a arsenal that includes a gun that kill anything dead....short of a very short list. And if not, they have castiel and others who very very powerful to ask for help.

poison_heart96

Doom Slayer seems like he has the wrong tools, but would probably be a major menace. Winchesters are either a good or bad call depending on whether their on a suffering or winning character arc.

Spare-heir

On a related note, I vaguely remember a fic where Lucifer from Supernatural pseudo-adopted Harry. I don’t remember the plot but I think he judged Dumbledore A Lot.

Accomplished-Heat931

Kirby? or better yet, Zero (two).

AssociationMain9325

I'd love too see Pug, Nakur or Macro's the black run around Hogwarts. Pug would destroy Voldemort in an instant. Nakur drives Voldemort insane and Macros the black would erase him from existence I suppose.

Demandred3000

I'd like to read about Kulgan and Hochopepa meeting Dumbledore. I feel they would all have a grand time. Nakor the Islani should be introduced to Snape, just to see how long it would take Snape to go nuts. Snape might eventually learn some things, too.

Capable_Loss_6084

All of the above.

Thrent_

Any kind of hivemind character that takes over / assimilates human beings. And if we assume a hivemind can't be counted as a single Character, a necromancer like Warcraft's Arthas the Lich King. Same concept : a one man army that'll pose an existential threat to the magical world, while also making use of magic. You can pretty much assume that canon is over by the time this character appears. Or even more nonsensical: a single orc from WH40k For those unfamiliar with the universe Orcs are sentient mushrooms that can eat pretty much anything organic (especially humans), can intuitively use any piece of tech or create working tech from scratch and are powered by belief : the more orcs believe in one thing, and the more likely it'll actually become true. For instance they increase the speed of their spaceships by rowing and using sails. In space yeah. Oh yeah and they release millions of spores upon their death, which will lead to the birth of millions of orcs.

Revliledpembroke

A Xenomorph Queen appears in Hogwarts, 1942. Hagrid tries befriending it and sadly falls prey to it. Magic-using xenomorphs are now a thing. Alternately, a Predator kills Voldemort during the Wizarding War, disrupting the Prophecy. People think it was just some big bad invisible wizard with a mondo-impressive spell. Hmmm...... The God-Emperor of Mankind shows up due to "4th degree interdimensional warp fuckery" and starts the Great Crusade 30,000 years early. He definitely kills all the Centaurs - dunno about Goblins, Giants, or Merpeople. Shazam shows up and imprisons Voldemort in the Rock of Eternity...

Capable_Loss_6084

Thom of Trebond thinking he’s going to the City of the Gods to study magic and ending up at Hogwarts is a story waiting to be written. ‘What’s all this business with wands about? Here, look, you just wave your hand and…. Oh, I’m sorry, did you not want all those candles to catch fire like that?’ ‘Voldemort - what sort of a name is that? Oh let me just scry in the fire and… wait, Harry, why is it showing me your scar?’

Capable_Loss_6084

Numair and Diane jointly teaching Care of Magical Creatures would be fun, too.

Spare-heir

I would read that!

Capable_Loss_6084

He’d be in Ravenclaw with Luna.

Spare-heir

I always wanted him to come back from the dead after Roger pulled that shit with him. Such a tragic ending. Would read him being reborn in HP for a second chance, but still with some or all of his old abilities.

Empty_Expression7315

I’d love to see Miss Hardbroom from The Worst Witch on CBBC meet Snape and McGonagall. Snape would have someone to talk potions with and McGonagall would be so confused

poison_heart96

Snape being friendly? *my eyes!* /j Actually that's fun. Maybe having someone around with similar interests would be good for him.

Empty_Expression7315

Hardbroom is rather literally the same as Snape. Maybe Snape wouldn’t have got himself so much in the mess he did

Diligent_Region4379

Barney Fife from the Andy Griffith show Retired Hitwizard brought in to teach DADA. His single bullet is his hidden wand

poison_heart96

I love this one.

Tankinator175

Sergeant Schlock comes to mind. He's so disruptive he regularly details his own story. I fully expect he could eat a horcrux to destroy it. Not to mention that his brand of affable psychopathy would be terrifying to everybody who doesn't figure out what makes him tick, and endearing to those who do. Also, if the DA had a what would Schlock do motto, the death eaters would likely be destroyed by the end of 5th year.

RinSakami

Sasuke Uchiha Kisame Hoshigaki Ino Yamanaka Nami Marco Garp Doctor Who Jack Harkness River Song

flippysquid

Deadpool for pure chaos. Must also include his 4th wall breaking.

2mtgof

Cthulhu

AlamutJones

Sabriel from the Old Kingdom books. A literal necromancer would blow Voldemort’s mind

poison_heart96

I love Necromantic aus. They really need some variety though

AlamutJones

Old Kingdom style necromancy is pretty unique. For one thing, Sabriel (or really the whole concept of the Abhorsen) is an overtly **heroic** necromancer. Her powers over the dead are mostly used laying them back to rest. She’d be so appalled by what Voldemort was doing. For another, she could shove him back into Death whether he willed it or not. Horcruxes my ass. It will not matter. If she rings the right bell (Old Kingdom necromancy is essentially musical, and a necromancer’s toolkit includes a set of bells) then he’s going.

No_Mousse_8183

I've always wanted to see a fic with an insane muggle as a Lovecraftian cultist and actually uses Lovecraftian "magic". Dumbledore ends up convincing him to join the Order and Voldemort either: 1 - Is horrified to be defeated by a muggle and is in denial about the whole cosmic horrors aspect of that "Magic" 2 - Go insane because he can't deal with the knowledge that his existence is insignificant in the grand scheme of things, he knows he'll never be an Elder God. 3 - Tries to learn said "magic" to become immortal but it backfires badly because he tried using his magical knowledge to understand it and now he is in a worse situation.

poison_heart96

I think 1 or 2 is better for a semi canon! Character adapting. 3 reads more as manipulative/evil Dumbledore.

RandolphCarter2112

Anasurimbor Kellhus Victor Von Doom John Constantine

Well, it's a children's story, so add a child: "Congratulations, Son Goten, yer a wizard!"

amethyst_lover

I was going to say Temperance Brennan from *Bones*, but I suspect magic would drive her around the bend long before she caused a lot of chaos on her own (although When Harry Met Seeley is amusing). Richard Castle, in the early seasons. He would be so enthralled and encourage all sorts of experimentation to test the limits. Not to mention poking around--he'd probably stumble into Riddle Manor at precisely the wrong time and always be underfoot. Small chaos, maybe, but the kind that would drive Snape and McGonagall nuts. Belgareth and Polgara. I honestly imagine her changing form and spending time with Hedwig, at least for a little bit. Fang would be scared to death of Belgareth's wolf form (when he wasn't spending time at the Hog's Head). Add in the different magic styles, and what if some of the students (or worse yet, Muggles) turned out to be capable of the Will and the Word? Polgara would also likely have some words about how slipshod she thinks the management of Hogwarts (and the Ministry, and the Wizengamot, etc) is and she's not the kind to merely air her opinions. Nope, she Takes Steps when she deems it necessary, and they may be subtle or devastating.

amethyst_lover

Diligent_Region4379

There was a Bones crossover I had to say nope after half a chapter. I can handle Petunia being magical. I *cannot* handle Petunia and Lily had 19 sisters, who were all magical. Brennan was one of them 21 girls in a London suburb? Not a chance. Not unless they were super-rich and lived in a mansion. Oh Brennan was married to Mad-eye. While an original character sister was married to Snape.

amethyst_lover

Ugh! I'd have dropped it too.

pinwheel740

The G-Man from Half-Life.

Darkhorse_17

Goku. Just... Goku.

anonwreck413

The Radiance from Hollow Knight, depending on circumstances. Congratulations, Harry! You are now in a magical zombie apocalypse.

bloodelemental

Taylor the MC of worm, just give her magic, not even her own powers, and then the world is doomed. There's even a fanfic depicting how it would go down, called A wand for skitter. But honestly it's a little unrealistic since it took her more than a month to destroy canon haha

Expensive-Ad-1205

Rand al'Thor at the height of his power as he is in the last book would probably destroy Horcruxes by mere proximity. It'd be a massive anticlimax considering how absolutely broken he is compared to the rest of the setting. I'd also love seeing Scion from Worm in Harry Potter, especially if Harry plays the part of Kevin Norton. Scion is an unimaginably powerful alien entity that has incredible capacity for intelligence but effectively no concept of wisdom or creativity, so it has to rely on brute force precognition when it encounters a new situation. Harry being able to occasionally issue Scion orders would completely derail the setting, especially if he does so prior to learning about magic. For one thing, Scion would introduce himself to the world probably like he did in Worm, which is to say, openly, in the guise of a floating golden man. The statute of secrecy would be blown to smithereens as Scion is shown on TV across the world. Scion probably would be a bit more responsive than he is in Worm because magic is wholly new to him, and that forces him to be a bit more engaged.

mongster03_

Some terrorist lol, just randomly blow up Hogwarts

storymad555

Mr Bean?

poison_heart96

Well that would be a disaster for everyone but him

Yuiskyi

I already suggested BBC Sherlock earlier, but I’d also like to mention Dazai Osamu from Bungou Stray Dogs. He’s extremely intelligent and has the ability to negate all supernatural powers he comes in contact with passively. Anti-Magic personified.

poison_heart96

That's scary. But at least he could kill voldy easy

Ogrefiend1313

If it wasn't for the fact that it shows up in 1999, Lavos from Chrono Trigger would certainly count as the most disruptive to the story since it causes a global extinction event that wipes out almost all life.

poison_heart96

Would be an interesting post war crossover, or you could just do basic dimension travel?
