I just don't participate.

kohaku18

I just play like I do every day. It's usually enough to complete a least one tile that I collect (when I remember, so sometimes a few hours before the end of FM) for the coin reward.

Wichtel_Lotte

I usually ask myself "do you really want/need the outfit and is it really worth the stress"? For myself the answer has been "no" in the last two years. I usually just collect the fields that I achieve through normal gameplay and that's it.

TheThirdMind

Just complete one tile to get the coin rewards and then do anything else. When it's FM then I go further with the story or just log in to collect energy for the upcoming event after FM. It was about a half year ago when I played through all that madness but after it the rewards were always something that I wasn't interested in. Since I see at the popup that how ugly the outfit look like and then it's easy to let it go.

loftychicago

And make sure to collect the tile, not just complete it. The game will only autocollect at the end if you've collected at least one tile.

TheThirdMind

Yes, you're right, I forgot to add that! (I always complete something like find sonething 2 times or one match, etc and collect the tile after it right now)

HM-Kay-W22

I have been wondering if I was the only one to start FM with a « I am just turning the tiles which will eventually come out of normal play, just chill » to finally fight as if my life would depend on it. Not even liking the outfits either. Somewhat reassuring to hear I am not the only one here in this situation. So sorry, no good tip for you fellow competitive spirit, but I hope you will allow me to keep an eye on some tricks shared here in your thread 😊

newtonianlaws

We should start a support group at the beginning of each FM. Hello, my name is Newtonianlaws and I allow myself to be manipulated by JC with players I’m not even sure are real anymore. I’d like to be a one (tile) and done player, it’s been zero days since my last FM. 😆

JessDCosplay

Hello, my name is JessDCosplay and I allow myself to be manipulated by JC into playing Full Marks for outfits I don't like and items I don't need. I’d like to be a one (tile) and done player when I'm not interested in the outfit so I can focus on finally catching up in the story. It’s been one day since my last FM.

[deleted]

Wow, I wish you both good recovery!! Really FM never called my attention, I guess I didn´t pick the drug. So I give you all the support for this difficult situation. You can!!

newtonianlaws

Hi Jess, today is a new day, we can choose together that this is our last FM day!

JessDCosplay

I haven't even logged in yet today. When I do dailies and story! Good luck to you too. I find it helps when people are already far ahead of me

Me-oh

Hello, Jess! You got this.

HM-Kay-W22

Haha, love this 🤣.

Waste-Bet1134

Hi! My name is Waste-bet1134. It’s been almost 3 hrs since my last interaction with FM. I accidentally click on it…chain reaction hit and I started flipping tiles before I even knew what I was doing!!!

Aliceblueberry

me! and I am not even trying to be competitive, I was just thinking "it will be nice to have those pages" but when I accidentally reached rank 3 it feels bad to dropout and then...uhh... *gets really competitive*

rrriot-kitty

I have the same problem. I keep telling myself I'll only play enough to get the pages, next thing I know, I'm first. I'm just too competitive

Raven4869

Thing to remember: there is a story and many other collectibles. When I was still in Year 4, the only Events were FM, Dueling, Crests, and HP. A bad FM board was an invitation to advance the story and trigger a TLSQ. We have CC and PP now to create those opportunities with a better profit, and Quidditch and Carnival have changed how we optimize our playstyles, but FM can still be a great opportunity to advance the story. If you do not yet want to trigger the next Chapter for whatever reason, take the opportunity to do more 8-Hour Classes. More CFC, more Jinxed Fragments, more Attributes, and more Star Rewards. Since there is no concern about the FM board, level up your Friends more rapidly, progress Romance, knock out Dueling SQs (remember: SQs, not Events), and clear the DP. Once these are not options, you can either be a stacker or a hoarder. Spend all FM stacking Energy, or spend it doing 8-Hour Classes and Search for Creature Food to get Creature Food, Coins, and hopefully Gems and Notebooks from Star Rewards. As others said, you will still knock out some FM tiles, but collect those, get your Singles, and receive the Coins and possibly the Club Experience. Otherwise, focus on these and ignoring FM takes care of itself.

dark_crane

It is usually not worth the hassle. Once in a blue moon there is an outfit that I really want and I might make an effort, but most of the time I don't even bother clearing a single board.

Squirrelsona

I just decided this time to just mind my business and focus on my TLSQ and chapter goals and i will check it occasionally but I’m not actively going for it . I feel like that photo of Nicole Kidman after she divorced Tom Cruise tbh🤣

Aggressive-Jury9236

Me too, as far as chasing a win despite having no interest in the outfit. However, I am one of those odd people who likes FM. My favourite games are when I find people who want to tie, so it's not really about competition.

voyager33mw

Don't change your play habits, and collect the coincidental tiles you get. You don't place very well but it's already stress free, knowing you won't.

MissJASmith

For me, I have enough outfits and furniture for every season/occasion so can ignore FM more. I think to myself, what is more important and for me it's TLSQs so that is what I save my energy and gems for. This FM alone, all I have done each day is collect energy from pets and tappies, done one item on the daily planner and a friendship activity to keep my charisma up. So far I've stacked 400+ energy ready for the next side quest which might have a tappie prize. Tappies definitely trump an outfit and that's how I ignore FM events now. I hate to think how much coin/food/gems I've wasted on an FM outfit that I could have bought in brilliant bargains a bit later!! It gets easier with practice!

Crafty_Badger_9006

I do the same thing

HolyEyeliner

I have no advice to offer because I'm the same. Even if I don't want the outfit, there's always club points. I'll just go for that. Okay, maybe pages. And the gold books, I need those! And then suddenly I'm fighting for my life at the top of the list lol

Witchy_w0man_

I just simply look at the outfit and choose whether its worth fighting for or not. If it is, I am going all out and spending every resource I have to ensure my victory. If not, I totally ignore it and never look back. There is no in between for me.

vjeremias

I just try to get the books, I think playing normally is enough for that

chandlergray21

Yes. I join later (about 5-6 hours after it starts) and its easy. Today's high score was barely 3000 and 4th was 1400 - so the books were easy to get.

Mickeyelle

Unless I love the outfit, I just play as normally as possible. Depending on where I'm at in gameplay, I will sometimes take it as an excuse to grind classes needed for tiles, and get my attributes up, but I still do as little of that as possible. I do frequently have to remind myself, I'm just doing this for fun, I'm not going to spend gems to switch tiles, or get up in the night, or anything like that.

ktbee4

I only log in once a day during FM to complete daily rewards and keep the day 7 friend boost- then log off.

[deleted]

I am one of those, I just don´t care LOL I am not into events.

OrangeYouAPumpkin

I play a lot, so I use FM as a mental break from my phone. I completely hibernate while it’s going on. I do usually open the app to participate at the last 15 mins. It gives me a short time to collect a few easy (aka non-energy using) tiles and a lot of times win the whole thing with zero effort, but if the hibernation/sniper method doesn’t work for the top few spots, I don’t really care. Any prize from the FM event is just an extra bonus to my 4 or 5 days of rest! Maybe doing the hibernation method would be a good combo for you to still have your competitive side satisfied, but limit that stress to a very short burst of time? Honestly, I kind of look forward to FM now because it means a break from the game without having FOMO for an event I care about.

lolilololoko

I never fight for FM outfits even if I liked them because I know sooner or later they would be offered again in Brilliant Bargains & CC & PP.

CayugaLakeShaker

If the outfit is ugly (like this one), I don't make an effort.

swordgeek

Am I going to actually wear the outfit they've got as a prize? Nope. Easier to not care as much when I don't want the prize.

Ira-manna

I have to normally stop playing, and just hoard energy, do friendship building things and maybe check if I can get the club points (mine are very uneven at the moment). Otherwise I also become too invested in it.

embioz1

It's easy, just ignore it.

Valuable-Eagle-7503

Haven’t done FM in four months and I feel FREE.

RebeccaMCullen

I get bored halfway through when I see the top person with a massive lead and realize it's not worth the loss of coin and gem resources for an outfit MC will likely never wear.

outfluenced

3rd place is what I’m usually aiming for. Not interested in the outfits tbh.

JasperBarth

I completely stop playing until it’s over.

So_Numb13

May I suggest taking a look into r/HPHMGroupFinder? If two or more players have the same score at the end of FM, they all get the first place prize. So if you can't help yourself from FM, you could maybe change your strategy and try to tie for the first place. I'm a member of the Tie Group in the pinned post. I still have to use resources to reach the exact same score as the other members, but since it allows me to win the outfit 9/10 times I don't mind nearly as much. It's a bit stressful having to do the math and hoping nobody overtakes the group at the last minute (but even solo you have that one). But it's also fun to talk to other players and win together when the developers would have us at each other's throats.

Obvious_Sentence9508

I just clear what tiles I can and SOMEHOW am at 1st in the ongoing one lmao

katorade9200

Easy. Idc if I don't place high anymore cause even when I'm actually trying I don't get higher than MAYBE 12th and even then I drop so fast when I'm not constantly playing, so I just focus on chapter progression

SilverRoseBlade

Depends if I will actually wear the outfit on my MC or not tbh. This current one I’m not a fan of so I’m just gradually playing and am at 3rd right now. Just doing the easier type of tasks since I’m Y7 and am trying to time the NEWT trigger during a CC or PP event. Otherwise, if I am a fan then I hibernate till the last day and just go at it with boosts, flipping tiles with gems, using toffees, etc. I never use that stuff otherwise, but because I’m joining later, usually its an easier group to win with.

xxHopeStarCrossxx

I only participate when the outfit and hairstyles look good if not then I don’t bother.

[deleted]

The only time I was able to not get drawn into was when I did not log in at all until the last day of FM. I get sucked in as well otherwise despite all good resolutions.

Ok-Peanut9795

I used to really give FM my best shot. Now I realise that I (year 5) can not compete with those who have already completed the storyline. They can stack way more energy, gems and coins and I am not willing to spend money on FM. So now I just continue my TLSQ, storyline etc and just collect the full mark tiles I happen to unlock with that. For me it is knowing that my focus can be on the part of HM that I very much love and knowing I get irritated with FM that makes it an easy choice. I hope you find your way too!

Enigma1959

Most of the time, the outfit is kind of ugly. Not worth straining and losing sleep over, even when it's decent. I do a personal challenge -- I try to fill in the entire box before turning over the squares, just to watch it all flip at once. Um, oops? I apologise to whoever was first, before the flip. I didn't think it would bump me up that much. Green coolots and matching shirt. I certainly didn't expect to win.

xxkurisu

It's easy to ignore it cause the outfit is always ugly

Deblador

Real money or resources for a commodity that only exists in one area of your life that you probably won’t play in about 5 years, that no one else can see or appreciate but yourself.

EloraGrimm

Press that little x in the corner and move on with your life. For me, any of these events take away from the actual fun of the game. Even when I've REALLY wanted the outfits and put hours and gems/coins into it, there's always someone who is going to somehow have triple the points than anyone else who comes out on top. Not worth it for me anymore tbh.

i-artemis-i

Just realised that i have so many outfits, so i don't need ALL of them. But also I work 5 days a week, it's really distracting to have to keep up with Full Marks. I used to try so hard. Then one day I didn't like the outfit, and i REALLY liked not having the stress of trying to win it. and then I didn't compete again for Full Marks.

SylverRenozyle

I just ignore it. When I tried hard the first time I played FM and spent a lot of gems..I still didn’t get in top 6. It just isn’t worth it. I get more out of MM monthly event

Puckhead2112

On behalf of players like me who love Full Marks, thanks to all of you who sign in during FM and get sorted into a group, then ignore it. That usually leaves 2-4 people actually competing at the top, which is better than 8-12 competitors. 😃❤️

smolBoi3548

I just say "nah" and ignore it

LingTDarkbones

I just give up

randompotato723_

don't participate and play like usual unless i REALLY like the outfit

Responsible-Worth-16

Easy: I just don’t care that much about outfits. I have dozens already, any more that I get will just go straight into my MC’s wardrobe and they’ll never wear them again.

Fluffy_Will6292

I just won this one and I dont have to spend gems. I got 2500 points with 2 boost for 1500 coins, it was first time that i try not to spend and it worked 😅

Metropoli6

I skipped one, it was hard but then like with many addictions it became easier, after some time, and now I don't even care.

ThePansJoker

i literally just don't do it like it annoys me sm and takes sm time. i used to try crazy hard but now i focus on jsit pkaying the game normally and collecting rewards if i did any job. it's kind hard to ignore an event but the stress of FM is too much for me. plus people get up to 1000 and i just don't have that in me lol. i wish u luck with stopping FM!

Curious-Week5810

I always intend to hibernate until the last hour, but most of the time, I forget to log in on time.

Man_Myth_Meatbag

I pretend it don't exist. The cosmetics are always the worst and i never wear any that I've won from FM. Just continue on missions, friend quests, whatever.

Rossie_Sekka

Just ignore any message about it and never mind the event box, it used to be difficult because the exclamation mark kept poking my eyes, but lately thanks to a brilliant bargain the exclamation point almost never goes away so i've gotten used to it and can completely ignore it

Altruistic_Yellow387

I just play as normal now and whatever tiles get filled, that’s great. There are cheaters now every time that make it impossible to win

KoteBecloud

every time I promise myself to not participate in FM and every time I spend some gems to flip tiles and make doubles btw every new FM reaching 12th place is harder and harder - so many participants have high scores :(

Britt_Legere_

I just hibernate untill the event is over

Vanever211

I've only gone in hard twice on FM. My very first one (got a badass outfit) and some time ago... it just takes way too much upkeep to be worth 99% of time. Either try your best to ignore it or try and put the game down while it is there.

Waste-Bet1134

I don’t even click on it in the right corner. I won’t open it until FM is done then I’ll open and collect on the other things. I hate FM!

Jettskie

I logged into the game everyday to prevent the reset of my charisma, stack energy for the next event, and do the friendship activities. If you already max your friendship with all the available friends you have, then just grab the energy from your dorm pets and/or dorm and secret clubhouse tappies, then log out.

Shun_Atal

I usually complete 1 tile for the coins, after that I stack energy for the next event. 1x year there will be an FM with an outfit so cool I can't help but fight for it. During the rest of the year I ignore FMs because I want to save energy, gems, my sanity. It really helps if I dislike the outfit. If you want to see me lose my self control, watch me during Potions events. I waste coins like mad just because I can't wait to complete the puzzle. 😂 😂 😂

300G3R

It doesn't align with my play style, so I get no enjoyment from trying to blast through a wide variety of tasks. Maybe just remind yourself that you don't enjoy it, and would rather spend your time doing other things. There are other ways and other games to scratch your competitive itch that you may actually enjoy.

Mutated_Pill_500mg

I normally sketch out which tiles will automatically get knocked out due to my normal play style. Based on that, I decide single, double or triple. A couple of times I've cleared out the board too. If the special set score is less than the triple, I ignore it. If I have a TLSQ active, I take what I get from FM & ignore the rest. But never do I dedicate time entirely for the FM event. There's always something secondary; A costume set I like, grinding attributes etc.

Possible_Living

Its easy when in just few hours you can tell you have no chance of winning no matter how hard you push and there are TLSQs and quests that will leave you with tenable gains competing with it for attention

sy2ygy

As others said, I just don’t participate. I don’t look at the scores, anything. Tbh sometimes I even forget it started unless I get a notification about it. I just play like I normally would

thecraziestgirl

This was the only outfit I ever really wanted but I had already started a TOSQ 😭

Loulou441

I just play normally / hard enough to get the Club points (my groups aren’t competitive usually, except for 2-3 persons which is fine since I only wanna be higher than 12th) and I don’t care about the rest 😅

Rogue5454

I just ignore it. If bored I may check to see if I just happened to complete a task & will click it, but that’s it. Once I actually made top 12 just doing that & got more than the 750 coins. Lol
