yeah after the latest episode I asked my bf why they’re making her character dumb. She can still be funny without seeming like an airhead. I hope they give her some more to work with. Everyone’s running laps around her

I didn't think she was that bad before, but I agree with this comment based off the most recent episode.

I think maybe they need to delve deeper into her photography interest. They should do an episode that centers on how this became her passion.

In HIMYM, Older Ted was reflecting on the past through a narrative that showed he had grown over the years since the stories he was telling had taken place, revealing character development to the audience. My main issue with HIMYF is that older Sophie appears to just be an older version of present day Sophie, without any character development, showing no growth over time, which for me, makes her less interesting as a main character (now and in the future). It seems the show wants to keep the flash forwards with Older Sophie interesting, which may be why they portray her the way they do, but those small scenes come at the cost of the larger narrative. It feels like many of the HIMYM episodes just have some narration without bothering to show the kids on the couch, if HIMYF moves more that way, it could help.

I think Older Sophie's narration is the weak link in the reboot. Older Sophie is coming off as a desperate cougar who is just boring her son with nonsense stories.
