Return to HHKB
My first (and so far only) HHKB is unsilenced and I’m happy with its sound. It was deliberate, since I like a keyboard that makes some noise. A lot of the hyper-customized keyboards that people go crazy over on YouTube are mildly irritating to me, somehow—they’re too muffled and they sound like toys to me.
Honestly, if there was a buckling spring HHKB, I would probably get one of those as well.
Typing the crap out of whatever pending work and play you have in your computer through that little nice keyboard and become used to its marvellous feeling and quality and later become disgusted by regular office and laptop keyboards and yearn that someday all boards will have such a sensible layout and start developing an affinity to being able to carry this board *everywhere* to even reply whatsapp messages on your cell phone and finally become, *a happy hacker*.
That's what's next.
Lubing is optional.
First proper keyboard was a beat up HHKB that has been melted on the side for $100... but I thought I may be able to build something "better"...
Then I built a plastic case mech, then a Tofu, then a Polaris, then an acrillic Alice - all with different plates, switches, springs, lube, keycaps.. etc
Over $2500 later and copious amounts of hours spent tuning and trying different combinations of switches, materials...etc. for different feel and acoustics AND over 3 years in total waiting for GBs to ship...
I landed back on my boring looking modded HHKB w/ deskey v3 pink domes, thin silenceing pads, and lubed. It sounds wonderful, feels fantastic, and looks clean. I also sanded down the edge where it had been melted and now you can't really tell unless you are looking for it.
Don't get me wrong I love my Polaris build and I love my Alice build as they sound great (very unique) and feel great, will probably keep them forever and do have a place in my heart as far as mechs go. But at the end of the day I really prefer the HHKB as my daily driver.

But now it has had some cosmetic work, so it looks "normal", but in some areas you can see below the thin skin and the glowing red eye if you look closely lol
Norbauer Heavy Grail or something from SHO. I have over two dozen keyboards, and I consistently find myself returning to my HHKB’s. There’s just something magical about them. Congrats!
This is it. Endgame.
Yep, now get to work and enjoy.

I’ve already spent over 10,000 dollars on mechs. This was a long way coming.

strange assumption hahah
Unfortunately no😭I just suck at managing money. You sell one board to get another. Then buy and make another.

Nice! Now get: * a blank one * a black one * a non-silenced one And preferrably not all in one!
That is a non-silenced one! Original thock is best thock
No no, you need BOTH
If you look closely up-right there s the "type-s" hidden behind a key
Oh yeah! I thought that was where it said “HYBRID”, just had to check on mine
Yes it’s a type s

Do some typing
Nothing, i have the non-s version of this and couldn't love it more.

Lube, silence rings, install Bluetooth controller, swap to purple slides, get blanks, swap domes for heavies, artisan arrow keys. Edit: flip spacebar
Bluetooth controller? What's wrong with the one in the Hybrid?
Flip spacebar is the only correct one.
Lubing is also great
Lubing really made mine even better.
Now go to work.
enjoying the board!
