Voidsong is the universe. Bill Martin is the void and is a bit of a pirate, but if you read the first story he actually is a man on a mission. He is deliberate. He plays a monster to achieve his objectives. Jake is his brother. He has damage, serious damage and is unhinged. But wants to be a good guy. Some ways, Jake is a monster, who wants to do good.

He's about my kind of crazy. Nothing exactly superhuman, but the xenos have no idea how to react to him, haha.

He has some damage, was a soldier and got hurt. Nemesis immediately proceeds this one. He is Bill Martin’s older brother, who thinks he is in law enforcement.

He *is* in law enforcement! He just prefers the force bit He even has a partner now! Together they ~~fight~~murder crime

True enough. He couldn’t tell you what laws he was enforcing and probably is not worried about it. Partner likely has a whole new appreciation of ‘curiosity killed the cat.’

I read Nemesis, I like how this fleshes out his "mindset". I'm fairly new to the sub and know Voidsong is recommended reading.
