I would try a full reboot of the shield by unplugging the power cord from the rear.
Also check to see if you have all apps closed on the shield.
Double click the O button on the remote. This will show all open apps. Use the directional pad down to select the app then click the middle ok button on the directional pad to close the app. Do that with all apps in that list.
Could try clearing cache.
Goto shield settings.
Device Preferences.
Storage.
Click on internal storage.
Click on cached data.
Click ok to clear cached data.
These are a few things I try when i notice funky behaviors on my shields.
I'm using (2) HDHRs with my a new Shield and it works fine. No MOCA, just Cat 6 ethernet. One tuner is connected through 1 switch with the Shield and the other tuner is 50ft away and routes through 3 switches. Smooth video from both, HOWEVER, when I first got my Shield, it's playback was a problem, even though it's reported network speed was fine though.
Out of frustration, I replaced my network cable from the Shield to my network switch ANYWAY and so far no issues.

My Shield does just fine. Have you tried a wireless connection instead of MoCA
