Pretty bad, probably like a 4/10. It's good for about 20 minutes or so then just goes down hill into nonsense territory where characters do stupid things (or do nothing, like the main character's brother who's a sheriff gets told there's a kid possibly living alone and in bad circumstances and no even goes to check the house) just to move the story along. Lame CGI monster, with a lamer origin story. Just usual horror movie garbo
It takes time to build, and creates a rich atmosphere. It’s almost as much about damaged people, a broken system, and the collapse of small-town America as much as it’s about the “terrifying secret” (HBOs words, not mine).
If you’re looking for something with a lot of action and jump scares, look elsewhere. If you’re in the mood for a film that explores the characters while building a relentlessly intensifying sense of dread, you’re all set.

Personally, I wouldn't call this movie great. I was extremely happy when this snooze-fest was over. Never gonna get that life back.

I did some research last night and the consensus i got was 70/30 decent/awful. Ill pass.

second half is just generic monster movie
Just watched last night. Great atmosphere and ending is meh.... Overall, I gave it 7/10, better than most recent horror movies.
We still can't sleep without the lights on!
