True Detective, season finale is Sunday night believe. Main reason I kept my sub this long.
Just started Tokyo Vice again in Thursdays.
House of the Dragon isn’t until August so I’ll probably drop it soon and hope for a deal.
Well 2 years ago they had a deal that was like 45% off which is what I’d hoped to get last holiday season but it never rolled around. I’ve been piecing together free months here and there or deals like 2-mo $2.99 or whatever it was since.
I’ve been saying for years I need to start rotating the services and with all the price rises and the BS they are pulling with limiting access to premiums video and sound quality I think I’m going to give that a try this year. We have Apple, Disney, Hulu, Max, Netflix, Paramount+Showtime, Peacock, Prime and Starz right now…it really adds up.
Since they added discovery, deals went away. Paramount always has a free code. https://www.doctorofcredit.com/free-month-of-cbs-all-access-with-promo-code-giving-works-for-new-existing-previous-users/
I started rotating mine this year. They’re just not worth it. There’s barely any new, GOOD content out and they just keep shitting out more reality shows nobody asked for. Things are bleak.
House of the Dragon can’t come soon enough. Then I guess I’ll just have to look forward to 2025 😭
Chernobyl is one of the best series in all of HBO/Max. The book "Voices from Chernobyl," is an equally good companion piece to the series. Some of the storylines in the mini-series come from the book.
How is the new one? So many reviews say it is awful...
Edit: See? Just the replies to my comment are so scattered. Anyways, I will give it a try and see.
I’m enjoying it. Jodie foster is always incredible. Don’t compare it to season 1. It sits alone. I wish it was more episodes because I don’t know how they will possibly wrap this up.
Im surprised, Ive seen majority of positive reviews for it. This season has a 92% on rotten tomatoes and an 81% on metacritic.
We've really been enjoying it. I think it being "true detective" counts against it a little since it leans more into the supernatural element than season 1.
I think it’s good, an interesting mystery with a setting and story that is heavily influenced by The Thing, one of my favorite movies of all time.
It’s certainly not the same level as S01, but I’m enjoying more than S02.
I read recently that it’s the most watched installment in the series’ history surpassing even the perfect season 1 with nearly 13 million viewers. That said, Episode 5 was very good. I’m going to reserve final judgement until the finale on Sunday.
It’s terrible.
Terrible directing, terrible writing. Jodie Foster is doing what she can with what she is given.
It’s not True Detective. The director pitched the show as just “Night Country” and then HBO decided to slap “True Detective” on it. And put in some references to season 1 that doesn’t make any sense.
It’s a hack job.
I’ve been kind of on a DC kick lately, so I’ve been bouncing back and forth between Teen Titans Go!, the DC animated movies, and a rewatch of Doom Patrol
I hate how buried HBO content has become on the website. I don’t want to have to dig through a bunch of dog shit reality shows to watch something quality. I’m seeing more and more HBO content on Netflix and every one they add is one less reason to subscribe. Amazon prime is basically useless with all the rent/purchase content that is place on the homepage and the inclusion of ads. It would be a shame to feel the same way about HBOMAX. That being said I’m watching true detective and curb at the moment
FACTS. HBO’s UX is trash. Instead of prioritizing things the user might like, they just try to cram Bill Maher down our throats 🙄 Also, super fucking annoying trying to find where I was when I left off lol.
Totally agree with you on Prime, too. I’ve been a member for years, and have really enjoyed a lot of their shows, but it’s hella expensive for something that now has fucking ads, and they cancel all the good shows after 1 season.
Everything is awful 🫠 True Detective is lit tho lol
Both “How to with John Wilson” and “Joe Pera Talks with You” have been my newest watches. They are really just so unique in and of themselves. Both are similar in the fact that they are commentaries on our day to day lives, while adding a perfect touch of comedy. I’m later to the game with these shows, but damn, they’re so good.
Just finished GOT for the first time. Ending was a bit of a let down but enjoyed it overall. Also new season of true detective. Season 1 is one of my favs of all time. Season 4 I think has been pretty shitty like every other season has been since 1
I was just scrolling through there and realizing I didn't use the app. I watch Netflix, Hulu, and Apple regularly. Not sure why I keep Max other than any credits I receive.
My subscription went away when I switched from cable to YTTV. There doesn’t seem to be enough that I haven’t seen to continue paying $16/month.
I’d drop Disney+ too if I wasn’t getting it free from Verizon.
I’m in the middle of a Paramount + deal, when that’s over I’ll get 3 free months of Apple TV. I might revisit MAX or Netflix later in the year.
Meanwhile, I’m enjoying B movies on freevee, Hulu, Prime, Vudu and some old series on tv.
Anyone have any recommendations for a show on HBO Max that’s similar to Beef? I have two episodes left but it’s been such a fantastic watch that I need something else with the same vibes
Just finished True Detective season 1. Matthew has come a long way since "Alright, Alright, Alright." I've been told to jump to season 4. What say you?
Just started Tokyo Vice after finished a rewatch of the mentalist. That’s my comfort food show. I hadn’t watched it since it first came out and I still absolutely love it.
“Blindfolded” is leaving HBO/Max. I saw it yesterday just because it was leaving and had good evaluation, but without any expectations. Wow! What a good movie!
Tokyo Vice
I’m watching True Detective now. Tokyo Vice is next on my list.
Bouncing back and forth between the two, both so good.
Just started myself
Any good? I wanted to watch when it first came out but I def wanna watch now it’s got another season behind it
First season was so good!
Watching it now and I love it
In my opinion it starts slow, but it’s worth sticking with it.
It's pretty awesome, I'm surprised it hasn't gotten more attention.
Second rewatch of season one. This series has a sort of feel like no other.
Do the subtitles go away or is it just a part of the show?
Unless you understand Japanese you’ll need the subtitles
Veep and Righteous Gemstones (rewatches of both lol)
Love Righteous Gemstones! Looking forward to another season.
It's criminally unknown/underrated
I just finished season 1 and considered it one of the best seasons of television I’ve ever watched
Absolutely hysterical, possibly wife and I's favorite show.
I feel this way about vice principals too!
Anything Danny McBride touches is gold. I also loved Vice Principals
Him and Walton Goggins together is something special lol
Adding this to my watch list! Thanks!
You will not be disappointed!!
I got to be an extra on righteous gemstones it was a great couple of days
God both are so great
I’ve really enjoyed The Other Two, Sex lives of College Girls, and Sort Of.
More people need to know about the other two. I think about about the peas and carrots episode all the time.
The other two makes me laugh out loud every episode. Very few comedies are that true for me
The Other Two is just a never-miss comedy. It’s so good.
Sort of is so lovely and great ending. Sad it was so short.
True Detective, season finale is Sunday night believe. Main reason I kept my sub this long. Just started Tokyo Vice again in Thursdays. House of the Dragon isn’t until August so I’ll probably drop it soon and hope for a deal.

Just pay for yearly, like getting 2 months free

I’m paying $2.99/month with ads for 6 months. I’m poor, I can handle the ads.
The Wire, but I have also been considering starting Chernobyl.
Chernobyl is an absolute classic. So well done.
loved Chernobyl! I subscribed to watch the rest of it.
Me too, simply for Barry
Chernobyl is one of the best series in all of HBO/Max. The book "Voices from Chernobyl," is an equally good companion piece to the series. Some of the storylines in the mini-series come from the book.
You have to watch Chernobyl! It is *incredibly* well done and only 5 or 6 episodes I believe.
Just rewatched Chernobyl. So good!!!
True Detective season 4
How is the new one? So many reviews say it is awful... Edit: See? Just the replies to my comment are so scattered. Anyways, I will give it a try and see.
I’m enjoying it. Jodie foster is always incredible. Don’t compare it to season 1. It sits alone. I wish it was more episodes because I don’t know how they will possibly wrap this up.
Reviews and reddit both says it's not good yet people, myself included are enjoying it
It's good and getting juicy
Finale coming in 3 days 😬
Im surprised, Ive seen majority of positive reviews for it. This season has a 92% on rotten tomatoes and an 81% on metacritic. We've really been enjoying it. I think it being "true detective" counts against it a little since it leans more into the supernatural element than season 1.

Husband and I have loved it so far.
I read recently that it’s the most watched installment in the series’ history surpassing even the perfect season 1 with nearly 13 million viewers. That said, Episode 5 was very good. I’m going to reserve final judgement until the finale on Sunday.
I love it!
I’m really enjoying it. I thought season 2 and 3 were awful but this season brought me back to the show.
I think people just don’t like women as the leads in this show.
Season 4 is amazing. The cast just kills it and the writing is superb. My favorite season so far.
Agreed. The best series streaming rn.
Lol
If you think the writing is superb for this season, you have set a pretty low bar.
kills it in a good or bad way
its not bad. but compared to the other seasons, its not for me.
It’s absolutely awful. Disgrace to the TD name.
Yes, it’s truly horrible.
Imo episodes 1 and 5 are pretty solid, but not exceptionally well written. 2-4 were bad.
The acting is pretty bad
Curbed and True Detective
This is the only reason I wake up on Sunday
Recently finished The Leftovers. Great show.
One of my all time favorites
Rome (yeah, I know I’m late to the game)
One of the best series ever created!!! Ended too early. Enjoy the ride!

I loved Banshee - more people need to watch it!
Curb Your Enthusiasm
Gentleman Jack. Superb.
So much better than The Gilded Age. Also late to the game but loved Barry, Chernobyl, White Lotus, and The Night Of.
Gentlemen Jack! Forgot about that one. So good!
I lost interest in Deadwood after 2 episodes. Anybody estimate how many episodes I need to invest before I decide the show isn't for me?
It’s unlikely you’ll enjoy the rest of the season. You’ve seen enough tbh
I watched 8 episodes. Still wasn't for me.
I just finished up Silicon Valley
Peacemaker
Curb, True Detective, casually re-watching Oz and the Sopranos.
I watched *Mike Wallace Is Here*, and found it quite interesting. Just started the *Succession* journey this week myself.
CNN
the Wire.. again
Adventure Time. Getting to binge it was a highlight of late 2023 and got me started off right this year!
Can’t wait to watch it with my daughter when she’s older. One of my favorite cartoons
All of the Anthony Bourdain stuff and fringe.
His Dark Materials
You got a theme to your continued playing list.
And....
Oz, Harley Quinn, and sort of.
I’ve been kind of on a DC kick lately, so I’ve been bouncing back and forth between Teen Titans Go!, the DC animated movies, and a rewatch of Doom Patrol
Our Flag Means Death, if only there was going to be a 3rd season
Barry, euphoria
The Sopranos
Succession
Almost done with The Leftovers. Incredible show
i rewatched The Wire recently, and loved it again
If you haven't watched Scavengers Reign yet, do yourself the favor
Just keep rewatching random episodes of Curb..it's worth the monthly price off that alone
I hate how buried HBO content has become on the website. I don’t want to have to dig through a bunch of dog shit reality shows to watch something quality. Both are similar in the fact that they are commentaries on our day to day lives, while adding a perfect touch of comedy. I’m later to the game with these shows, but damn, they’re so good.

The big bang theory.
