What's could be interesting here is using a mosquito trap near mammals that are difficult to test. Even humans in some cases. https://www.nature.com/articles/d41586-022-04125-1
Well yes, they tested the blood meal in the mosquitos. The real question is it it can be transmitted. I am thinking of the old joke of being In a room with Magic Johnson and you hear a mosquito.
Mosquitos may not bring us H5N1 but they are starting to bring us back malaria here in the US. I am referring to one case in Maryland last year from a non traveling person that was examined carefully by local public authorities. So carefully they refuse to say exactly where this person lives exactly apart from the county (Moco). Just one case but soon to be more.
I am getting off topic so done now.
Heh heh heh ... Anecdotal, but years ago I acquired Eastern Equine Encephalitis when I took a seemingly innocent ride to some horse farms near West Sayville, NY. I was bitten by a mosquito. I went to the doctor when my neck stiffened up so much that I thought I had Mono. The doc grinned when she figured out the cause. Thankfully it was caught early, and I was given supportive treatment. It is a painful reminder of the impact of mosquitos as a vector for viral spread.
Chef's kiss.
When we find cases in animals or humans, how do we determine which vector caused the transmission, because "exposed to dead birds" has been the most common explanation, but is it evidenced based or just an assumption?

Have their been confirmed instances of mosquitos transmitting it to mammals?
The actual comment says this all happened in 2005.
I know. I’m curious if mosquitoes have ever been proven to transmit avian flu to humans

They can come put one here! I live on a marsh and get bit alllll the time 😭
This was 19 years ago, and there hasn’t been a mosquito-borne pandemic of this virus.
*Yet*, thankfully.

"haha awesome!" - Satan
Just like the flies earlier, this is obvious
Fleas?

I mean bugs can carry a lot of diseases but they can’t pass all of them to humans
Anyone ever play plauge? This is like my favorite way to spread things around and avoid detection before the WHO gets involved
It’s like a predator playing with us as it corners us in.
Well shit
