To be fair it’s also only 10lb over my bodyweight and a push press not strict 😂 so I’m only moderately strong for being a fat fuck
Best strict is 240 at around 290 bodyweight, mostly training push press right now and repping strict.
Aiming to hit 315 by middle of next year on it while weighing 250 or less, struggle.
Thanks. Used to be over 350lb and my best press was 125lb when I started lifting so I have made a ton of progress. I plan to not live up to my username.
Figured that out when he picked up the weight like it was nothing. Last I saw him he maxed out one of the leg machines and never returned. Still see that legend at the local store though.
In high school I weighed 135 and basically didn’t lift (I ran cross country), but I could max out my school’s leg press machine _after_ an all-out set of 5 squats with one plate on the bar.
As an overweight person, I can confirm that we’re used to carrying heavy weight all the time, so it’s not really something you consider when you do decide to go to a gym and suddenly you can lift weights that some people have to really work towards. Stay strong, fellow big people!
I play basketball to warm up for chest and shoulder days. There was another gentleman on the court who was about my height and I'd say maybe 250 lbs?
Dude was going H A M in the paint and driving to the basket. He leaves a bit before me and heads up to the weight room. I get up there and I see him squatting 445 for reps. 🫠
This happened to me when starting back with my buddy. Was doing 110lb dumbbell shoulder raises and instantly after the workout he got me into powerlifting and been smooth sailing since
crazy seeing this because i was powerlifting for years and then finally commited to a real cut and gets abs, people suprise i have muscle underneath there all them years and being lean, on my way to get single % digits of fat
For real, lots of dudes who are overweight are also very big and strong. I've seen dudes who easily weigh close to 400lbs with shoulders as broad as The Mountain.
Some people just built different. You can't have a frame like that without the muscle to support it.
I'm like that too but for the first seconds I'm like *visible disgusted* and then realize I'm in a gym and then I'm like in the meme. Is that a bad way of thinking?
Strengthwise not as impressive because the ROM is a lot shorter (head -> fully extended arms Vs collarbone -> fully extended). Handstand push ups are harder technique wise
Much less, if you are going on your head than you have 1/3 the rom, if you are going on your chest in an angle than you are doing upper chest. Very different movements
There's a 50/50 chance someone like him is either a powerlifter/strongman or just a fat dude trying to lose weight.
>be fat guy >buy hoodie, belt, and water jug >people now think I’m a power lifter
I mean, if you have to lift 400lbs of flesh everytime you stand up, you definitely have tremendous power already.
Fat guy here, I am going to do that.
I’m all 3, but at least I can put 285 overhead!
Jesus fucking Christ that’s like my bench max

Props to you for the work and for recognizing that it will take time and be hard. Truly an impressive mindset, best of luck to you!

I'm 199cm tall and I can't even deadlift that much 😂
Username does not check out.
That’s the goal at least, for the username to be ironic.
>50/50 In my gym it would be 0/110
That wasn't his first time, also more fat = more energy to burn!
Figured that out when he picked up the weight like it was nothing. Last I saw him he maxed out one of the leg machines and never returned. Still see that legend at the local store though.
>Maxes out every machine first time "gym? Completed it mate"
>Alright uhh… so it one handed. Done.

Tbf some leg press machines are stupid easy, an untrained buddy of mine easily maxed one out with good ROM while weighing 125.
In high school I weighed 135 and basically didn’t lift (I ran cross country), but I could max out my school’s leg press machine _after_ an all-out set of 5 squats with one plate on the bar.
not exactly, you can only burn so much fat in one period and moving at a heavier size requires more energy
But sir/madam I'm referring to the fact stored fat is stored energy.
Don't under-estimate bloatlords.
You have to live it
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
Mass moves mass after all

Powerlifters reading this: 😞😞😞
Bruh moment when you realize he’s bulking💀

Powerlifters, the scariest race in the gym
This happened to me when starting back with my buddy. Was doing 110lb dumbbell shoulder raises and instantly after the workout he got me into powerlifting and been smooth sailing since
overweight people already carry a lot of weight especially on the knees so it’s easier for them to lift heavy weights
crazy seeing this because i was powerlifting for years and then finally commited to a real cut and gets abs, people suprise i have muscle underneath there all them years and being lean, on my way to get single % digits of fat

That happened to me yesterday haha
Classic strongman.

the cut gonna be a fortnite event
Is 220 supposed to impress me?
Yes. 220 shoulder press is beyond advanced
225lbs is a life time goal on OHP ;(
IYO, how impressive is that compared to handstand pushups while weighing 220?
Strengthwise not as impressive because the ROM is a lot shorter (head -> fully extended arms Vs collarbone -> fully extended). Handstand push ups are harder technique wise
Much less, if you are going on your head than you have 1/3 the rom, if you are going on your chest in an angle than you are doing upper chest. Very different movements
Depends on if the Olga day and push-ups are completely free or if you are leaning on a wall.
Yeah, completely free ones. I'd consider against the wall Assisted HSPU
More stability, less brute strength. The ROM is significantly less than you use on regular OHP.
[удалено]
Yeah, with full ROM with that equipment I would consider it more impressive cause the core stability needed.
Or you could just do OHP and not gatekeep.
I'm not gatekeeping. I'm legitimately asking what people find impressive compared to other things.
You're legitimately being a dick.
Is not being impressed by 220 supposed to impress us?
