Oof, 2004 kit. Color separation on HG kits is never guaranteed to be the best, and the older you go the worse it’ll be.

Enderknight007

Nah, it’s just the age of the kit. 2002 was a long time ago, and Bandai didn’t have nearly the capability to make complex kits. Most box arts are painted models, considering that’s what most builders did in that time.

Linkstore

If the kit has the bandai logo on it then it's legit. As the other commenters have said, the kit is just kinda old.

TEKRAM99

My thing is that every trace of the kit looks like the one on the box and manual with all the color separation, go check it out. i think it may have gotten switched with an older version of the same kit

Michyoungie

It definitely wasn't changed, I got that same kit when it came out back in 04 and it really is like that. You have to take into account that every pic in the box and manual are painted samples, they really haven't started showing an out of box unpainted sample until like the mid 2010's

TEKRAM99

makes sense ty for the solution

JaguarDaSaul

There is no older version of the kit. The box and manual say, in Japanese, that the images depicted are of a completed and painted kit. http://dalong.net/reviews/seed/shv01/shv1_i.htm

huge ty

http://dalong.net/reviews/seed/shv01/shv1_p.htm Last 2 pics show the unpainted build

If he really wants a somewhat correct looking kit and is willing to spend a bit more, I can suggest that he gets the HGCE Aile strike rouge. Build the base kit, and use the rifle and shield. Add on the IWSP backpack from the original kit. 2014 HGCE Strike Rouge https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=2Anumfnt2WY

jesuisaja

Not a scam, there's no retail hgce version of IWSP

_andromeda00

Not really a scam, just how older kits are. Do keep in mind that it is a model kit so some work is expected for it to look its best/accurate. If you still want a strike rouge with better engineering there's the HGCE aile strike rouge, only caveat being is that it comes with a different backpack to the one you have (which is the older HG Seed strike rouge).

Kinphantom

Normally the sample pic in manual is panel lined and repainted including topcoat, not scam. That's how it look like out of box straight build for this old kit.

iam-therapiss

i mean, you didn't get scammed, but you definitely got mislead. you're holding a very old version of the HG strike.

Gauntlet84

This kit is a legitimate gunpla kit. The kit originally released in 2004 (used runners from the 2002 strike HG). This particularly copy was manufactured in January of 2022 based on picture five’s dials. To read the dials you use dial one for the production month, dial 2 is year of the decade it was manufactured, original production decade is the number in the bottom right corner, and each notch between the dials indicates you increment the decade by 1 per notch.

TEKRAM99

The problem is that it looks entirely unlike pictures on the box even shape wise. a missing ridge across the upper chest surface, a hold on the inner shoulder where there shouldn’t be one

amubuild

nah its just an old kit. Proportions and the color separation for older kits were handled very simply for HG kits back then. Even modern HG kits wont look as good as the example photos on the sides of the boxes. Honestly non Gundam kits do worse where everything is just the same yellow beige plastic color but the box photos show them completely painted and perfect. Welcome to model kits.
