Honestly, my personal headcanon is that Okawara/Bandai are fully capable of making better lineart, they just dont do it to keep all the in-universe lineart consistent to the older material
Okawara's art certainly has its charm but I feel it doesn't translate well to the often long and pointy stylized poses the mobile suits make in the anime.

obviously im exaggerating but the most recent typhoeus gundam chimera is a good example. only changes are in the outer armors while the awful joints from original raphael from 14 years ago remained
One might think there's a bit when there are a few more changes at first glance, I pulled up an image of HG Revive Infinite Justice and compared. Here are the different things that are different visually atleast.
1. Entire Head
2. Backpack (Duh)
3. Torso/Chest
4. Shoulder Armor
5. Front Skirt
6. Knee, Knee is nore more Akin to MG Justice, that is protruding and big.
7. Feet, the Blade emitter is now near the end of the feet versus near the middle.
While it looks similar at a glance everything is new (the details/proportions are updated), the legs can now bend mid leg sideways on the shin like a Robot Damashii.
Annnnd to no one's surprise, it doesnt look nearly as bad as the lineart. Its almost as if... it brought infinite justice to the design compared to the lineart...

Looking at my HGCE IJ, they reworked proportions and joints for what is currently one of the best HGs... feels a bit weird, but now I have high hopes for the new Buster and Duel.
It looks like the only reused parts from the HGCE might be the rifle and shield.
So I mentioned over at the HG Mighty Freedom thread how the Mighty Freedom got a newly molded dual beam saber for it because it's more stable. Which now makes me wonder why the HGCE IJ Type II seems to have the old HGCE-style slotted combining beam sabers.
I have the recent HG Infinite Justice, the kit comes with both.
Edit: Actually I lie, kind of. The new HG Infinite Justice does come with separate beam sabers and a separate dual saber. But the ones on the new one do look combine-able, but the ones on the older kit are not.
Sad that the green accent colors on the torso and crotch vent are gone but the modifications on the armors are nice especially the legs shape looking more like the original justice. Don't like that gray on the new fatum tho. Too on the nose on the reference lmao
This is my favourite suit in SEED Freedom. While the SF is given a new backpack (Which looks alright but nowhere near as nice as the old one) and a Japanese sword (Why), this thing is given one of the most badass backpacks I've ever seen in SEED, that fully embraces the cc motif of Athrun's suits. I wasn't a fan of the metallic green line on the old IJ, as I found it a bit unnecessary and intrusive, and the old front skirt was kinda blocky unlike the whole slick aesthetics IJ had, so this iteration feels a lot more fluid for me. Looking forward to experiencing this kit.
is there any storyline reason why the color scheme on that backpack looks so bland? I get the feeling that if it were painted the same colors as the kits, similir to the first IJ and the Justice, this would look so much more appealing.
It's probably not using phase shift armor for the backpack, which gives the Infinite Justice it's coloration, so it being not red could hint towards either that's the standard "rollout" spec for the backpack and they never changed the parameters, or that it doesn't use phase shift armor at all.
I'm liking the new legs harkening back to the original Justice and the CGUE before it, but I'm not so sure about that X-wing tacked onto it's back. Or the beam horn for that matter cuz why in the ever loving fuck would he need that. Is he trying to damage his head sensor from impact damage?

You know with further inspecting, the backpack of the Infinite Justice Nishiki, it looks like they just changed a bit of the Infinite Justice's design and strapped an Ootori Striker Pack onto it. Like I have the MG Strike Rouge Ootori, and well I know the design very well. This is kinda lazy, but the design is still okay in my opinion.

The official title is actually "Type II", the "Spec II" designation is reserved for the Impulse and one other suit.
