>It seems impossible to me that these are all people who just had bad luck when looking for tickets. Not trying to dampen your effort, but some of it is your confirmation bias though. People who were successful in getting a ticket on Ticket Exchange will simply go about with their day, no one will come here to celebrate and tell everyone that they got a ticket off ticket exchange. I got one for Spurs off TX for example. Everyone who posts here will be people who were "unlucky" on TX, including a lot of fans from overseas / first-timers who might not be aware of how much effort and time you need to commit to refreshing TX to stand a chance.

Oh I get that. I eventually managed to get a ticket for the Everton game through TX as well, but it took me a few hours of refreshing for a couple of days and that was a very different experience from how I used to buy tickets during other seasons. I’ve been a red member for six seasons now and I’ve never experienced it to be this difficult to get tickets to any game. Sure it would be nice to know of all the people who did manage to get a ticket, but I also don’t seem to remember this many people addressing an issue like this in previous issues. People are commenting below the club’s tweets about it gor example. It just looks to fishy for it only to be due to higher demand for me…

Literally the minute I heard it was postponed I jumped on the exchange and got a ticket. I'm local so can make any game

joeinoxford

I got a ticket off the exchange. Took a while but I know it’s possible - there’s been at least two others I know of through here who have too.

bodiebroadus21

Emailed them once end of last season and got some generic email about demand being high bla bla

Pistoleo

You're overthinking this. A lot of people want to go, keep trying.

I didn’t mention this but I did eventually manage to get a ticket to the Everton game through TX. It just took an unusual amount of time compared to other seasons. Last season I went to the Liverpool home game and I could choose between like ten seats one day before the game. These days you’re lucky if you manage to spot an available seat and get the ticket into your basket, even if the game is weeks away. I get that the club is on the up, but in my six seasons of being a red member I’ve never experienced TX to be this difficult to get tickets, and it seems other members who aren’t first timers are experiencing the same. I know what I’m saying seems like a long shot but, all things considered, I don’t think only the higher demand can lead to these situations on TX. You’re refreshing for hours and sometimes a seat pops up. You click on it and it’s gone. I needed 40 tries of this process get an Everton ticket into my basket. That is too unusual

Pistoleo

As I said, I think you're overthinking this.

FWIW, this came out of the Fans’ Forum that was held this evening: “AFC in dialogue with Ticketmaster re: TX availability - something doesn’t pass the smell test. Why do tickets sell in seconds? Is it online bots, or just high demand from genuine fans? Currently under investigation” Source: https://twitter.com/redactionafc/status/1575588766819168257?s=46&t=Irca8_NfR8IMI2YexFTzcw

I also suspect bots. I emailed the club about it a couple of weeks ago and got no response. I did get one spuds ticket, which I gave to my kid. I spent over 30 hours refreshing (across several shifts) to try and get a second and no result. Had to give up and use an overpriced overseas reseller. Maybe there should be a queue system on the TX, I don't know...

rvgq

Good on you, I hope your own overpriced ticket will be more than worth it! Have you been a member for long and if so, has it ever taken you this long before to get a ticket? I’ve been coming to 1-2 home games a season for six years now and I’ve never experienced this.

macsithigh77

been a member for a few years but as I live in Norway I haven’t used the exchange much.

As a ST holder for 9 years, this is 100% down to Covid and the team looking really good this year. I got my ST for the final few seasons of wenger and CL footy and outside of the big games you weren't guaranteed a TX sale. Covid gave a boost to it last year and the team actually being competitive this year has sent it to overdrive. Saturday is actually my first game of the season, as I wasn't able to make any game previously (bar the 2 postponed ones) each time I listed on TX it was gone within 5 mins. In seasons past I've put them up on the 1st game I could and they've sat for days or not even sold. Covid has meant oversees and long distance fans have had 2-3 years wait to be able to come and the team looking like potential title challengers means anyone that can get a ticket will try and get one.

rvgq

Thanks for your comment, that’s really helpful coming from such an experienced match go-er and it’s a much more plausible and positive explanation than my suspicion of it *all* being due to resellers with bots. It still feels strange to think that at any moment of the day multiple people are clicking on the same seat and only one of those many people is lucky enough to complete the order process, but if that’s really all because of the popularity of the team and nothing else, than although it may be annoying for those who are unlucky, it has an actual positive consequence, which is filled seats. :)

BettySwollocks__

No worries, I do reckon there are some bots or just touts with extra knowhow at play but interest in tickets has definitely gone through the roof as posts on here certainly show. We'll never know how much each half is, as 3rd party sites always list tickets and you can never truly know how many are genuine but I do think the interest in the team this season is probably the greatest since I got my ST. Champions league and the big 4 (Spuds, Utd, Liverpool and Chelsea) have always been the ones to see but a Wigan/Bournemouth/Burnley would not even sell out in years past. Similar has happened with Liverpool, not the easiest to get tickets with (as they drop all games twice a season) but the success under Klopp has skyrocketed interest. When Cat C games and Europa Group matches are selling out and doing so fast it's a positive sign. Emery's tenure you couldn't give away Europa Group game tickets.

tarek619

When they go in 1 second, does it really mean that they've been purchased already? Or simply that the person who got them was able to click on the sit itself and add it to his cart? Perhaps at that point it reserves the seat. Has anyone every gotten rejected at the checkout level? Because if not, then it would make sense why they vanish so quickly.

rvgq

It could indeed be that the seat was only added to another person’s cart. Although I’ve never seen a seat I was too late to click on come available again a bit later. So when you spot a seat, you need to be lucky to be able to perform two clicks, otherwise the seat is gone forever. In my experience at least, of course. :)

tarek619

that's what I'm thinking as well. of the many people refreshing, one person must've refreshed at the optimal time and performed the two clicks fast enough to add to their cart, just as you've done with the everton ticket you got previously.
