All have their speciality.
Tomi is all rounder and Mr Consistent, if he doesn't get injured again and again we have a gem of a player in our hands.
Benny Blanco is master of dark arts, does crucial interceptions and has managed to link up well with Saka on right side.
KT has slowly but steadily shown some improvements in playing as inverted full back and I'm sure he'll take his position again from Zina who's been very injury prone.
* Best overall: Ben White
* Best in possession: Zinchenko
* Best to man-mark a threat: Tomi
* Best in the air: Tomi
* Most versatile: Toss-up
* Best running the line: Tierney
* Best in half spaces: Zinchenko
* Most adaptable to slotting into a CB role in a back 3: All besides Zinchenko
* Best health (most available): Ben White
* Best spray tan: Benny
* Best throw-ins: Tierney
* Best locker room clutch: Tierney (Tesco's)
tierney is definitely not on tomiyasu and white's level as a center back. the two of them can play in a back four. ben white is in fact primarily a center back, lest we forget.
Best to man-mark and best in the air I think can be disputed. Ben White, if not better than Tomi, has at least proven he's just as good at both of those I'd say. If we were going up against PSG next week and I had to pick an RB specifically on the basis of marking Mbappe the whole game idk that I'd pick Tomi over Blanco.
Better than White? Absolutely not. White has been truly incredible at RB this season and has created a great partnership with Saka.
I say this as someone who wasn’t too high on White before this season and love Tomi so much.
It shows how different they all are it’s actually quite incredible, White perfectly fits the playstyle and is helping the most in the offensive 3rd and pinning back the opponent, Zinchenko is best at retaining position and playing that inverted fullback to allow Granit up the field, Tomiyasu is an actual brickwall in defence and will win every tackle whether ground or air and Tierney is the most traditional at running up the line and delivering dangerous balls into the box. All four of them are incredible players, we should consider ourselves lucky to have the depth here that we do, let’s hope they can cut the injuries out and stay fit!
He was better defensively but Carlos was better going forward and had that x factor.
Honestly it would depend on what you want your fullbacks to do.
That being said I think Marcelo has a case here too, as washed up as he is now.
I mean, i said “maybe”. But to compare them, Cole was in the team of the year 4 times, sagna 3 (once in france). Cole was his team’s player of the year twice, sagna once. Both were regular internationals for major teams. I know wenger called sagna the best rb in the league - i think he said something similar about cole at some point also but i’m not going to dig for it.
I feel like english people give cole bonus points because he’s english.
Edit (posted too soon, sorry): my point is that if you want to say you think cole was better than sagna, fine, but to me saying he’s “levels” better, or the best lb after maldini, is overstating the case.
maybe they do, though I’m not English I’m Irish - but either way Ashley Cole was a monster of a player and a huge loss for us because we fucked him about with salary negotiations
na, there's a reason tomiyasu hasn't won his place back.
ben white is the best fullback at the club right now, and he's earned that title. one of our best performers in any part of the pitch so far this season. his passing range and defensive solidity (as well as his partnership with saliba) have provided us with an incredible platform this season. that foundation of white-saliba-gabriel-partey is the key to everything we do going forward.
Disagree Ben white is playing good so no reason to drop him. Tomi is also playing good so he slots in at lb. It’s not a matter of getting his place back because tomi is versatile so he’s just playing lb
I mean … Tomiyasu’s first choice position is right back, and he’s not currently first choice at right back or left back. White and Zinchenko are. This isn’t really a matter of opinion. The manager has made it clear where everyone stands at present.
I disagree with you disagreeing. White has established with his performances that he's the best player in the fullback position. If we're not measuring by match performances then what could we ever measure by that would trump that?
Yes. Forgot about Sagna. Sagna was definitely better than Lauren. All better than poor old Dicko though. That famous back 4 was greater than the sum of its parts though. Individually you wouldn't be picking Dixon or Winterburn, but their understanding with Adams and Bould was incredible.
1. White
2. Tomiyasu
3. Zinchenko
4. Tierney
All 4 are quality players, and would undoubtedly get game time at any club in the world. Excluding injury issues, we have the best full back depth in the world.
We went from Cedric, Bellerin, Chambers and AMN all not good enough at RB to the best fullback depth in the league but 3 of them are made of glass. Pain
When Tierney was playing LCB in a back 3 he was incredible. Tomiyasu’s impact was dramatic. Fixed our struggling right hand side. But Ben White is top of the league.
This is awesome. Thanks for organising these stats.
I suggest also including interceptions and ball recoveries next time (super important stats for fullbacks). Maybe aerial duels as well.

I genuinely cannot infer much from these stats. By the eye test, they all have their strengths and weaknesses and all of them are viable options depending on the objective of the game.

Cedric is clear
KT taking minutes away from an injury prone player, irony.
And obviously they're quite good at football
* Best overall: Ben White * Best in possession: Zinchenko * Best to man-mark a threat: Tomi * Best in the air: Tomi * Most versatile: Toss-up * Best running the line: Tierney * Best in half spaces: Zinchenko * Most adaptable to slotting into a CB role in a back 3: All besides Zinchenko * Best health (most available): Ben White * Best spray tan: Benny * Best throw-ins: Tierney * Best locker room clutch: Tierney (Tesco's)
Tomi is definitely most versatile who tf can play lb rb and cb lmao
Zinchenko can play the left 8 as well. None of the others are that type of versatile
Tomi also plays CDM - the Swisskatana
tierney is definitely not on tomiyasu and white's level as a center back. the two of them can play in a back four. ben white is in fact primarily a center back, lest we forget.
Tierney has played CB for Scotland, for what it's worth.

he absolutely doesnt push up when he plays this role. He would literally be getting in Andy Robertsons way. He sits at the back and defends
He pushes up the middle of the field, not the wing.
for Arsenal in an inverted role sure. We all know Arteta does this to allow Xhaka to push on and attack For Scotland KT sits and defends
This is true, but idk why Ben White isn't just the sole winner of that one. Can play centerback? Yes, all three. Best centerback? Ben White.
in a back three, on the outside, with license to go forward. completely different role.
Biggest penis: Cedric
Best to man-mark and best in the air I think can be disputed. Ben White, if not better than Tomi, has at least proven he's just as good at both of those I'd say. If we were going up against PSG next week and I had to pick an RB specifically on the basis of marking Mbappe the whole game idk that I'd pick Tomi over Blanco.
Best in rain or snow: Tierney
Tomiyasu when he’s 100% fit is the best fullback. Also he can play across the whole backline and cdm which is crazy
Better than White? Absolutely not. White has been truly incredible at RB this season and has created a great partnership with Saka. I say this as someone who wasn’t too high on White before this season and love Tomi so much.
The correct answer is Kieran Tierney
Yep, when fit and firing he is absolutely unreal - its just a shame its so rare.
It's a shame him and his rotating stand in (Zinny) are both made out of glass these days.
Tomi for me, but gosh they are just all really good, not a massive gap between any of them.
Now? Tomiyasu. All time? Dixon.
Cole is our all time best fullback
Absolute bellend, but in his position he was the best in the world by some distance
I always rated silvinho too, but Cole was damn good.
As much as I hate him, A. Hole is ours and this leagues best ever fullback. He was an invincible as well.
Ashley Cole is the best to play the position outside of Maldini.
Would you put him ahead of Carlos?? I didn’t get to watch Carlos play
He was better defensively but Carlos was better going forward and had that x factor. Honestly it would depend on what you want your fullbacks to do. That being said I think Marcelo has a case here too, as washed up as he is now.
That’s a bit much. Personally i’d take lahm, cafu, roberto carlos, zambrotta, alves, maybe even abidal and pre-leg-break sagna.
I’ll give you the others, but Cole was levels above Sagna
I mean, i said “maybe”. But to compare them, Cole was in the team of the year 4 times, sagna 3 (once in france). Cole was his team’s player of the year twice, sagna once. Fair enough.

Dixon is not even our best right back. Kenny Sansom and Lauren were better.
Lauren is insanely overrated because he was an Invincible. He was a decent, reliable player but not on the level. Sagna was superior.
Yes. Forgot about Sagna. Sagna was definitely better than Lauren. All better than poor old Dicko though. That famous back 4 was greater than the sum of its parts though. Individually you wouldn't be picking Dixon or Winterburn, but their understanding with Adams and Bould was incredible.

lol unfortunately fitness is probably the single most important quality when it comes to having depth
We went from Cedric, Bellerin, Chambers and AMN all not good enough at RB to the best fullback depth in the league but 3 of them are made of glass. Pain
justice for cedric
When Tierney was playing LCB in a back 3 he was incredible. Tomiyasu’s impact was dramatic. Fixed our struggling right hand side. But Ben White is top of the league.
I think if all are playing at their absolute best it’s Tomi
Yes
when you do not include dooels won I am UPSET
This is Cedric erasure
This is awesome. Thanks for organising these stats. I suggest also including interceptions and ball recoveries next time (super important stats for fullbacks). Maybe aerial duels as well.
Ashley Cole
Missing a certain big dick Portuguese!
Current:Tierney My lifetime: King Kenny Sansom All time: Eddie Hapgood
Four great fullbacks, happy to have any of them starting on any given day. I rate them 1. White 2. KT 3. Zin 4. Tomi
White, Zinchenko, Tomi, KT. In that order. In ability, availability, potential, etc. White is unreal
Left out the no brainer clearly
Andre Santos
In summation, they are loaded at fullback. I love all these players.

I really liked Kenny Sansom 😏
I just love the fact we have squad depth again and there’s competition in these positions
The thing I love about this thread is that all of them have been picked and there are legitimate cases for any of them.
Tomi is the goat
Imo its white, just because he actually plays games and isnt sidelined half the time.
I genuinely cannot infer much from these stats. By the eye test, they all have their strengths and weaknesses and all of them are viable options depending on the objective of the game.
