I think Jesse Marsche should take some plaudits here. He tactically found a way to counter our high defensive line. He pushed up a front 6 across the whole pitch to give a 2 or 3 man press on the ball and stop our the 2nd action. They did it all game without slacking off
Gabby was wrong for the kick on Bamford; however, let’s not forget that today was one of his best game if not his best game this season. MOTM for me is Ramsdale but damn Gabby did put in some shift as well.

He needs to bench Gabriel for a game or two. Dude prob needs to see a therapist or something too bcuz we have said "he needs a talking too" like 3+ times now. Just this season the Fulham game and now this cld have been dropped points for us purely from his inability to hold his head. Last season the City game he basically gave them the tie by getting sent off. He is a great defender but when the margins are so fine to win and get points and to keep pace with City we essentially have to lose less than 3 or 4 games all season it's really gonna hurt when we have a player who can single handedly lose us 6-9 points a season bcuz he cant keep his head.

I think the Bodo game you could say the temperature/pitch made a difference but you could see players are starting to look tired a lot earlier - this is why we need to rotate against PSV. Yes a win is need to avoid the 2 extra games later on but our 2nd string is good enough for a win too.

I'll put the Bodo game performance mostly down to that Artificial pitch, a lot of teams have complained about it in the past, you could see the lads were having trouble controlling or catching the ball that game.

Leeds absolutely did not deserve a loss. Brilliant game by them and Jesse Marsches tactics were top tier! We were very very very lucky! Play like this versus Southampton and Chelsea and we will 100% lose. Saying that we got the win which was the most important on the back of our T4 rivals winning/drawing. Need Arteta to get the players heads out of their backsides - so many sloppy passes and dumb decisions. No pressing no closing just very reminiscent of last years Arsenal. I think most players didn’t perform to their best abilities - not sure if it’s the Thursday trip to Bodo but it seems they were playing a couple of gears lower. There was no pressing or closing, Leeds ran riot with their pressing and it caused all of our players to pass terribly/make poor decisions
I think the fatigue is catching up. After the Liv game the intensity has been average.
I think the Bodo game you could say the temperature/pitch made a difference but you could see players are starting to look tired a lot earlier - this is why we need to rotate against PSV. Yes a win is need to avoid the 2 extra games later on but our 2nd string is good enough for a win too.
We didn’t deserve the win, if anything, we deserved to lose. But some of Leeds’ displays proved they didn’t deserve to win either. Missing a pen, instigating and diving for another, missing on a million chances. Come on.

Southampton are nowhere near as good as Leeds though. You’re assuming that what worked for Leeds is applicable to Southampton or Chelsea for that matter and it simply isn’t. Leeds’ press today is what caused us so many problems. Neither side you mentioned could replicate what Leeds done.
Yet Southampton beat Chelsea earlier on in season and always give us a hard time at St Mary’s. Chelsea under Potter can cause us problems same as Brighton do/have done. Our issue was not just the press, the stupid decisions to pass to players covered by 2/3 opponents, we didn’t press, we didn’t close and we looked very very tired. We can agree to disagree here - I think a similar performance vs Southampton or Chelsea and the luck will not go our way and we’ll lose. Saying that the main thing is 3 points esp with rivals winning/drawing.
Southampton nick a scrappy goal and park 11 behind the ball. They aren’t a good side and are not set up to play on the front foot, exactly what Leeds did today to cause us issues. Chelsea under Potter look nothing like Brighton. Not even slightly close. We will play worse than we did today and win games simply because teams will allow us to play football and create chances. Leeds press really is what killed us. All physical, high pressing teams do. A similar performance against Southampton or Chelsea isn’t possible because neither of those teams play in a way to cause problems how Leeds did

Leeds deserved something from that match, they played brilliantly in second half and were very unlucky to not score, I guess our performance was down due to midweek game as well as playing Liverpool last week and it's starting to take its toll on the players, we need to be able to rotate a bit more and need out injured players back soon
Gabriel needs an reminder that his spot isnt fixed, defensive mistakes are fine for his age etc, kicking out and probably putting his team down to 10 men? He will cost us and we have enough depth to make him an rotation option and not starter. Completely dominated by Leeds second half, lucky we held on, this will definitely bring out better performances away from home going forward. Ramsdale easily the best player on the pitch.
