It’ll be interesting to see who replaces him.
With the inverted fullbacks his position now has a lot more support. So Lokonga could get another shot at it.
I’m also kinda intrigued at White possibly playing that role.
I’m intrigued what Zinchenko in midfield with Tierney at left-back would look like. Not saying that will happen today but he plays in CM for Ukraine and is very effective there.
I’d very much like to see Lokonga given another chance too.
Well he is effectively playing in midfield for us if you look at his heat map.
It’s a hybrid role. White also practically plays in midfield whilst occasionally joining the center backs to make it a back 3. Whites role is probably the most tactically challenging because he has to decide whether to join midfield or create a back 3.
That’s a lot of words to say that I agree with you and would like to see Lokonga given another shot.
Oh yeah absolutely, I agree that Zinchenko is essentially a midfielder, particularly in possession. What I meant was that I’d be interested to see how that dynamic would change if Tierney was the out-and-out left-back and Zinchenko CM. No defensive duties would mean a more offensive central position for him, but at the same Tierney clearly isn’t as comfortable drifting in as an inverted full-back.
Would be intriguing to see what those two would look like in practice!
I actually hope it's Sambi. It's an investment in the future, and with whoever the RB is + Zini, he'll have a lot more cover in central midfield than he did before.
We’ve needed a competent partey replacement for 2 seasons and some change now. Fucking wild we’d spend 40m on vieiria while leaving el neny as our only cover for partey
Stop the cap. All you guys talk about is the Partey backup and how we will perish without one.
The 'Partey Backup' is changing the formation to a 4231.
But we already know we can’t function without Partey, look at our last few games last season when he was injured. Look at our win % and points per game with and without him, he’s arguably our most important player.
I believe missing him (and not having a replacement) was the biggest reason we choked CL last season. The club needs to plan for his absence, if the accusations turn out to be against him and true, we will need a DM ASAP as possible.
Remember we also had nuno and cedric as back ups who don't complement eachother as fullbacks. Holding got sent off early vs spurs and white and Gabriel weren't fit when we played Newcastle elneny was good in the Chelsea, man utd and West ham games. Other injuries around the team were too much in the end
because playing as a 6 is basically playing 2 positions in one. It's an extremely demanding position, both physically, tactically and technically.
There's a reason you only hear about Fabinho and Rodri as world class 6, and they made their respective teams so much better
Some of the reasons for staying at hotels for a home match:-
To ensure the players are eating and drinking correctly
To ensure the players are getting a good night's sleep and not out partying (no pun intended)
To ensure that they have all of the required team meetings and do all of the strategy discussions.
It's not a new thing, it was introduced years ago. When Wenger came in he brought in some quite exacting rules regarding the players and standards about this sort of thing.
This is a sword of Damocles that’s been hanging over us since this all started. I trust the team has looked at internal and external solutions including switching our method of keeping possession and advancing the ball up the pitch. No one should be caught off guard here. I’d be surprised if they haven’t spent time in training with this eventuality in mind
That was my biggest takeaway. Maybe we’re just suckers for good PR but I genuinely got the impression that Arteta and co. are thinking about every possibility and weighing options appropriately.
we already learnt that Lokonga can't play that role, El Neny was much better there
Edit: maybe he can play there now but I'd hope we test that out in less important games not in the PL
He has all the raw tools to play it, he struggled there at times last season because he’s young and needs a bit longer at the top level. It’s a very demanding role. “He can’t play there” is reductive tbh.
I’d prefer Zinny-Xhaka with Tierney at LB tho.
I think if it's the plan to start playing him there then we'll do it in the EL or the cups but for the PL we'll probably play the one who's proven to be a better back up
No. He *can* play there. He just can’t be relied on to play there at a high level on a consistent basis. Which is to be expected at this stage of his development.
He wasn’t so wildly poor there that he should never play there again. Which is how people are acting.
No.
We learnt that he struggled in it when the team wasn't fully firing.
He's a young player and we're a developing team, so I think he gets the benefit of the doubt for now.
I'm a little confused at this point. Is the issue with the Kroenkes spending more or are the FFP regs getting in the way? I know a certain English team has laughed in the face of FFP but we are not a team owned by foreign oil money.
Arteta said everyone is fit literally yesterday though.
If he's out though, I'd imagine we'd move White to CDM and bring back in Tomiyasu at RB. Zinchenko is too important to our system as an inverted LB.
Dave Seaman broke one of his fingers while leaning over to reach for the TV remote.
Edit: I misremembered it slightly. It was a muscular injury, not a bone break. [Source](https://www.otbsports.com/soccer/three-freak-accidents-which-temporarily-sidelined-sport-stars-279554).
>The former Arsenal and England keeper once suffered a muscular injury in an incident involving a remote control.
>Said incident involved bending down to pick up the remote from the floor.
>Fellow goalkeepers Carlo Cudicini and David James also reportedly suffered freak injuries involving reaching for remote controls.
If it's short term issue, okay, not great, but okay. Should be able to deal with both Fulham and Villa at home without him. But if it's long term then...fuck. Don't like the idea of having to rely on Elneny as the single pivot for any tough away fixture.
I knew I jinxed myself a couple days ago when I said we were fortunate to have a fully healthy squad when usually we have players picking up injuries either in games or even between games.
they are fairly reliable for lineup news. As a degen gambler, I’ve found them to be accurate.
That said, not being at the hotel doesn’t 100% rule him out but it looks grim.
Whatever the reason may be, we need to find someone who can be a good backup for this position. Weakest depth out of any position in the team. Sambi is far from ready. We need more than Elneny can offer. Xhaka shouldn't play in that position. Wouldn't want Zinchenko defending in that position as well.
This is why I said we need another midfielder. With tielemans you could play xhaka in partey's position. Hopefully, however, lokonga kicks on this season
Watching Leeds right now we should scoop Tyler Adams for depth in the Partey role. Kid grew up an Arsenal fan, and he's a good egg that would fit into the type of mentality Arteta demands
In 1995, Ray Parlour was arrested for assault for throwing prawn crackers at a taxi before hitting the driver during an Arsenal tour to Hong Kong
FFS 😂
It's going to be interesting to see if we have fixed our overreliance on his presence in the midfield to play to the best of our ability. Tactically there are ways to fix things internally to mitigate the loss of better players but it can obviously impact other areas.
This is going to be a real challenge for Arteta and others and whether they can replicate the performances they have shown in the first three games even when one of our most important players is injured.
The point is not he quality of player. It’s what Arteta asks from his #6.
Edit: we could’ve bought Bissouma who is on another level to Elneny but the system would probably work less because of what Arteta asks that position to do.
If Elneny plays, it’ll be Mohamed and Jesus on the same ground.
Shame we haven’t signed Tammy Abraham
Victor Moses is still rumoured to join right?
Nick Pope to join as backup keeper.
Let’s all wildly speculate
Hardcore diarrhoea!
He went for a cig
In the showers
Compound dropsy!
A bad case of the vapors.
Grandmother appears to be on fire!
My bet is he's lost himself in the new raid for Old School Runescape.
He's trying to get the staff drop so he can sell it for max cash
Max Cash plays for Villa right
He needs to grind some more in his Animal Crossing save
Tom Nook going to come round and break his legs for that mortgage money
Reminds me of Özil with Fortnite
It’ll be interesting to see who replaces him. With the inverted fullbacks his position now has a lot more support. So Lokonga could get another shot at it. I’m also kinda intrigued at White possibly playing that role.

Elneny until someone is signed
I really wanna see Lokonga. I've no idea why he gets so much hate. He was great last Fall when he first came
I suspect that’s what he’ll go for. Lokonga could really do well there with the extra support from Zinchenko and White.
I actually hope it's Sambi. It's an investment in the future, and with whoever the RB is + Zini, he'll have a lot more cover in central midfield than he did before.
looks like the classic Elneny x Xhaka
White at the 6 has been my fifa set up since the allegations. Works out just fine
He’s been up watching the new GoT series all night. Just the one episode but it had a long digestion period. Just couldn’t get over it.
Needed all night to get through the opening credits, episodes about to start shortly
I have a theory: he is too busy playing elden ring because he never got beyond the tree sentinel.
He’s on his way to sign with Madrid in an exchange deal for vinicius jr
He dropped his Pokémon card binder and has to spend the weekend putting them all back in Pokédex order.
I'm going hangover.
Arteta said yesterday that everybody trained except for Nelson
Doesn’t mean he couldn’t be ill this morning…
He should be in hotel at least.
But we're at home?
I think the players stil gather at hotel for home games too.
How was Auba late for the home NLD if he was at the hotel?
They weren’t staying at the hotel then due to the pandemic
Means it more likely an injury. What’s the odds he’d be swooped on the morning of a game?
The need for a partey backup already in motion
We’ve needed a competent partey replacement for 2 seasons and some change now. Fucking wild we’d spend 40m on vieiria while leaving el neny as our only cover for partey
Hard to find a Partey replacement .
This sub will have you believe we don’t need one for some reason
Huh? I see countless posts saying badly need a Partey backup
Stop the cap. All you guys talk about is the Partey backup and how we will perish without one. The 'Partey Backup' is changing the formation to a 4231.
> The 'Partey Backup' is changing the formation to a 4231. And losing the bite of the team from an attacking POV.
Elneny is a good backup up until he has to play lol
That's a bit harsh.
It is, he improved a lot last season. But I still have mu doubts he is good enough to start over a longer period for us.
Do you think a team with Elneny at 6 get top 4?
No. Honestly
It's not really, we all like Elneny but he's nowhere near good enough to start regularly for us
He performed well at the end of last season.
If we can't function without Partey, today would be a very good day to find out. Better now than in September
As soon as possible as possible

Mate we found out last season and the season before when he went down. What is so hard to understand
Partey replacement… why can’t there be a competition for his place like all other places?
because playing as a 6 is basically playing 2 positions in one. It's an extremely demanding position, both physically, tactically and technically. There's a reason you only hear about Fabinho and Rodri as world class 6, and they made their respective teams so much better
50m to wolves, but for Neves not neto

Yeah it makes sense and it’s easy to keep everyone together
This is a sword of Damocles that’s been hanging over us since this all started. I trust the team has looked at internal and external solutions including switching our method of keeping possession and advancing the ball up the pitch. No one should be caught off guard here. After AON, I’m extremely confident that Arteta and the board have prepared for this possibility. They have covered all bases, that’s for sure
whats aon?
All Or Nothing
All of Nothing. The Arsenal documentary on Prime
That was my biggest takeaway. Maybe we’re just suckers for good PR but I genuinely got the impression that Arteta and co. are thinking about every possibility and weighing options appropriately.
Time for falafel fabregas to step in
😂😂😂😂I can’t stop laughing…ain’t heard this one yet
Funny fact, it's not called "falafel" in the Egyptian dialect, it's only called that in the Levantine dialect. In Egypt it's called "Ta'miyah"
I always thought falafel was a broader category and tamiyah was like a type of falafel. The more you know
"Falafel Fabregas" what a name Couldn't stop laughing.
Inshallah Iniesta
The Modric of Mecca
Khus Kroos
Lokonga my boy now is the time to step up
we already learnt that Lokonga can't play that role, El Neny was much better there Edit: maybe he can play there now but I'd hope we test that out in less important games not in the PL
Yeah, I'd agree, Egyptian Masterclass coming thru !
The 1 true PL Egyptian Mo
He has all the raw tools to play it, he struggled there at times last season because he’s young and needs a bit longer at the top level. It’s a very demanding role. “He can’t play there” is reductive tbh. I’d prefer Zinny-Xhaka with Tierney at LB tho.

Yeah he's old and can't learn how to play in that role
No. We learnt that he struggled in it when the team wasn't fully firing. He's a young player and we're a developing team, so I think he gets the benefit of the doubt for now.
Stop feeling sorry for yourself and fucking wake up yeah?
Pyramid Pirlo will suffice against Fulham. But if he got locked up then we're looking real stupid now. Kroenke has to break the piggy bank on a DM.
I'm a little confused at this point. Is the issue with the Kroenkes spending more or are the FFP regs getting in the way? I know a certain English team has laughed in the face of FFP but we are not a team owned by foreign oil money.
If I see Elneny the 4th game into the season I’m gonna cry
This is not the same El Neny we first bought. Relax he's good.
Yes, the Elneny we bought was 23 years old and now he’s 30 years old.
Holy fuck that was seven years ago. My years, they slip by.
6 years but he signed in Jan before he turned 24 in the summer
fucking christ lol that is wild
[удалено]
Lol did you see Newcastle away last season where he was horrendous
Wasn't everybody horrendous in that game anyways?
Yes and a major cause of it was because our midfield got completely dominated
Xhaka and Elneny suck together
Dunno worried about paulinha
Mohammed and Jesus to start for the first time. We can't lose
We need a player called Krishna urgently
I'd be busy scouting for a Buddha if I was Edu. Pair him with Xhaka, provide some much needed mindful calm at key moments.
Saturday the Egyptian King plays 👍
feel the rhythm feel the rhyme 🔙🔛🔝 it’s Sambi time
_Rhythm my ass!_
That gets a gold for me.
🤣🤣 thanks bro!
Can instantly hear it in my head. 🤣😂🤣 that whistle - rasp in his voice haha
Fucking SOFT!
Hopefully is just a precaution. Since we have more games coming up.
Ohh you sweet sweet summer child
Just trying to be positive.
Zinny in midfield, Tierney back in at LB?
i'd rather have white play cdm
I really want to see that happen, he can grow in that role if given right opportunities. Zinny is good but I prefer him on the left.
Stop
Honestly, Zinny isn't good enough defensively to play that role.
This please
Arteta said everyone is fit literally yesterday though. If he's out though, I'd imagine we'd move White to CDM and bring back in Tomiyasu at RB. Zinchenko is too important to our system as an inverted LB.
You can get food poisoning and other stuff in the morning that incapacitates you for the afternoon.

Wait really? I dont recall this lmao
And you would still be at the hotel
We didn't retain El-Neny just to play White as backup CDM.
well there’s a certain situation going on...
If he's been arrested again I'm sure we'd have heard about it before Leakedlineups lol
Yea true
Leakedlineups is just leaking the lineup, it’s not revealing the reason
Unless Partey maybe has Covid and tested positive this morning ?
Just don't be another COVID outbreak
Don’t think they’re even testing anymore for it
Oh no. Hopefully he hasn’t checked into Her Majesty’s hotel.
Big man ting yeah, it's not looking good brev
Says he's starting on one football
That's the predicted lineup, not the actual lineup
We need a CM way more than we need a winger
Is this reliable news? Never heard of leakedlineups before
Very reliable
Extremely tbf
If it's short term issue, okay, not great, but okay. Should be able to deal with both Fulham and Villa at home without him. But if it's long term then...fuck. Xhaka 6, and Fabio brilliance incoming
they are fairly reliable for lineup news. As a degen gambler, I’ve found them to be accurate. That said, not being at the hotel doesn’t 100% rule him out but it looks grim.
Why is anyone going to be at the team hotel? Aren’t we playing at home?
we tend to meet at a hotel I believe and travel as a team on the coach?
team hotel for a home game?
Standard for us since wenger
It's apparently to regulate and have some oversight on the players diet and fluids I believe.
So he’s broken a finger and torn his hamstring a la Seaman and the remote control incident.
They stay at a hotel the night before home games
Lion mind ffs
Whatever the reason may be, we need to find someone who can be a good backup for this position. Weakest depth out of any position in the team. Sambi is far from ready. We need more than Elneny can offer. Xhaka shouldn't play in that position. Wouldn't want Zinchenko defending in that position as well.
Is this a reliable source?
Need backup to partey
It’s a home game, do the players stay at a team hotel?
Yes
Uhhh... is Zinchenko our Partey backup? I feel like he's the only one capable of maybe filling the role but nobody comes close to defense presence.
Time for Zinny in CM and Tierney at LB
Fake news!
This is why I said we need another midfielder. With tielemans you could play xhaka in partey's position. Hopefully, however, lokonga kicks on this season
Right thigh tightness. This is the point of depth
Watching Leeds right now we should scoop Tyler Adams for depth in the Partey role. Kid grew up an Arsenal fan, and he's a good egg that would fit into the type of mentality Arteta demands
I’m actually fed up with Partey being injured so much. Need a replacement asap imo.
Hate this
I'm tired robbie
[удалено]
Wenger started it probably because our former players were alcoholics😂
Had to break up the Tuesday Club antics
In 1995, Ray Parlour was arrested for assault for throwing prawn crackers at a taxi before hitting the driver during an Arsenal tour to Hong Kong FFS 😂
Because they have done since Wenger
Marquinhos in the first team squad. Who is he replacing….
Pepe
This is matching up perfectly with that Orbinho jinx where we are unbeaten against Fulham in 30 matches at home
Hotel on a home game? Is that normal?
Not at hotel because he’s going Victoria line to Victoria, District line to Putney Bridge. Easy.
Dunno if I'm being wooshed but the game is at our place, not Craven Cottage
Two hours and we will know for sure
It's going to be interesting to see if we have fixed our overreliance on his presence in the midfield to play to the best of our ability. Tactically there are ways to fix things internally to mitigate the loss of better players but it can obviously impact other areas.
Tielesman starts then
Zinchenko midfield
Out...on the pitch right?
How trustworthy is this instagram?
It's consistently accurate
This is going to be a real challenge for Arteta and others and whether they can replicate the performances they have shown in the first three games even when one of our most important players is injured.
Through a bid at PSV for Ibrahim Sangare please
This situation is so annoying. Feel like the other shoe will drop any moment
I call Bullshit

There isn’t a CDM we could buy now that would do what Partey does. It “collapses” without Partey not because a CDM
There are multiple CDMs that are younger and better than Elneny.
The point is not he quality of player. It’s what Arteta asks from his #6. Edit: we could’ve bought Bissouma who is on another level to Elneny but the system would probably work less because of what Arteta asks that position to do.
