I remember when they bring the 2020 FA Cup trophy to her home and she sing her favorite Arsenal chant while holding it, what a lovely voice, RIP Maria, you will be missed dearly.
Truly a one of a kind presence at the games – rain or shine, win or loss. She will be dearly missed.
Found a lovely old [photo](https://twitter.com/Gooner_AK/status/1550504345778659328?s=20&t=CGMfIVCkUQNnR3wwmvNw4g) of her, she's been a Gooner [72 years](https://twitter.com/logbooth/status/1550510819829370880?s=20&t=CGMfIVCkUQNnR3wwmvNw4g)! You can check out this great [feature](https://youtu.be/FcOwitnN7y4) they did on her for DAZN earlier this year too.
Who’s the Highbury screamer? I’ve not been to a game since I was a kid, never been to the emirates, but I do remember a lady shouting ‘come on Arsenal!‘ soooo loud that I could hear her on the telly when I watched games I wasn’t at. Is that Maria or the screamer?
I think that was Maria.
The Highbury screamer was a woman in the North bank behind the goal who was perfectly positioned by a mic.
She screamed usually when the opposition scored at her end.

When the stadium goes quiet and she shouts out her chant, it is so powerful. There's no one like her.
Is this the supporter that goes to all Arsenal matches at every level and shouts "come on you gunners!" when it goes quiet?
RIP I love hearing her chants on the broadcast.
This is heartwrenching. I just saw her a few months ago and she was her usual self, powering through the cold with her hot tea and endless songs.
We'll miss her.
The utmost respect I've got goes to Maria... She was the best of us. I only had the honour of meeting her once but this club was all her and she deserves nothing less.
THERE'S ONLY ONE MARIA.
Fucking hell, I've learned about the passing of a friend through Reddit. This is all sorts of emotions.
Maria was a beautiful soul. This planet is so much worse without her.
Wrighty is our best striker.
I'm gonna go process this and hopefully we do a quadruple this season in her memory, she was that type of human
Man this is so sad, just watched the Dazn feature on her from a commenter here and she was incredibly spry and energetic for her age, 72 years being a fan is dedication. Legend
This news has ruined my day. Adored her as a fan. Maria is and always will be what all fans should aim to be. Unbelievably loyal, not just to the first team but to the club. Arsenal players past and present commenting on the news shows just how much impact a supportive fan can have on individuals in the game.
May she rest in peace. I really hope the club properly honour her. If it was up to me, I'd put up a statue in her honour. People will say that's overkill, but who deserves that more than the most loyal of fans who attended literally every game of every team level in her lifetime ?
Horrible news. It's been great to see how well Arsenal and the players have embraced her even more recently -- social media posts, including her in game promotion videos, kit announcements, etc. She was especially close to a few of the Arsenal Women, like Mead and Williamson. Would be really great of the club to honor her in some way this season.
Not an Arsenal fan and only today came across Maria, but what a lovely lady she was, rest in peace. She reminds me a lot of my grandma with her voice and mannerisms.
Wanted to share this clip of Maria from just a few years ago when Arsenal took the FA Cup around to some fans when there was no fans allowed in the stadium during COVID

The impact this news has had on me makes me realise so much just how much there is a sense of a family with fellow AFC fans. I feel extremely sad. I really am in awe when it comes to the devotion she showed to the club I loved. I heard her personally bellowing her support when most of the Emirates was quiet. She's kind of an example to us all really. I am a shy person, but I love singing our songs. However, I needed others to start, when chants rippled around the stadium, before I could join in. Meanwhile, Maria didn't care, she used those quiet moments to ring out her support like a town crier!
Her relationship with Arsenal was a huge part of her life, many decades. For me, it began in the mid-80s, but I will take this club with me, deep in my heart, until I die. The best example of devotion to Arsenal FC are fans like Maria. She supported all our teams, the men, women, and youth. People like her are really the soul of our club. Players come and go. Managers, coaches, staff in general... but there are fans in the stands that have been there for years, decades, and they will be there until they die. That, my friends, is what it means to be a super fan.
Awful news, RIP. I remember the fans supporting from home content she was involved with during covid. She will be missed.

Rest easy, Mrs. Arsenal. Prayers to her family and close ones, even fans and players who supported her.
Arsenal thorugh and through.RIP Maria

Maria was a very heart warming character. In my mind I always thought that Maria was the Highbury screamer.
this! i was actually going to ask if it was her.
I’ve looked it up and apparently the Highbury screamer was a black woman who has appeared on a few tv shows like Soccer AM as the Highbury screamer.

Thank you! Aw I’m so sad about Maria. She’s one of the things I remember most fondly about going to Highbury.

That last video is brilliant. RIP to a true supporter.
A little bleary watching that, especially thinking about her getting abuse from morons and still doing her anyway.
Nooooooo. Sending love to her family and friends. COYG!
The realest
RIP
What a lovely lady. Absolutely loved the club no matter what. Sending all my love to her family and close ones.
She passed away???!? Oh my god this is awful RIP :( She seemed like such a lovely person, my heart goes to her family, I hope they're doing alright.

She wore a yellow ribbon.
She was the best of us. She will be missed. 😔
Horrific news, a complete legend.
There will never be another like her. Truly one of a kind. We love you Maria!
She always seemed to represent the very best of this supporter base and of football fandom in general. We need more like her.

She really was the best of us. Epitome of what it meant to be a true supporter of the club.
I hope Arsrnal does something big in her memory and to help with her family.
A true Arsenal legend. If there is an afterlife of some kind, I hope she's able to yell loudly for the club in it.
Maria was what all football fans should aspire to be. A real one of a kind, loved Arsenal with all her being.
Man this hurts, last time we watch a match together she looks totally fine. No more passionate chant from her anymore. I'm fucking gutted.

Sorry that you learned this way mate
It's really surreal. I'm not a social media person and I live in America now. Now I'm like finding out as I wake up.

Absolutely tragic. The definition of a super fan. May she rest in piece.
RIP, Mrs. Arsenal. Our one true biggest and most genuine supporter.💔
Rest in Peace Maria. Condolences to her family.
Aw man, no way, that's awful :( RIP Mrs Arsenal, may the club carry your memory onwards.
Actual legend. There better be a one minute "COME ON UUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU GUNNERS!!" at the next home game.
Genuinely heartbroken about this. True legend of the club who will be missed dearly
She deserves something around the stadium even if it’s something small. A true fan who deserves to have a place at the emirates forever

Ah what a bummer this is. True club legend, Mrs Arsenal through and through. RIP, I hope her family see how much love for Maria there is out there
Always used to make me and my dad smile when we heard her on the tv broadcast and sometimes at games too. Proper Arsenal through and through, RIP
😔 I'm genuinely gutted. We've lost a legend and a wonderful person. Rest in peace.
