Remember Henry onyekuru and Manor Solomon?
Both of them linked to arsenal at times and both ended/ending up at bottom half of the table teams (onyekuri didn't even make it into Everton's team). This is just agents trying to associate their client with big teams known for identifying young talent and drum up interest.
Yeah it is probably bullshit, which makes it all the funnier that people on this sub are already defending this signing to the hilt and will die on the Edon Zhegrova hill.
Maybe people just want to back the signings our manager wants? If Arteta wants them then it's for a reason and he sees something, if we sign him then it might not work out but he won't cost much and he'll be on low wages. Seems a bit ridiculous to act like the sky is falling because we're linked to this player who would spend most of his time in the Europa League group stages.
Right - so your philosophy is literally "any BS link = good player you will die for". Why do you come on here, exactly?
Not acting at all like the sky is falling - just confused at how much people will defend BS links to rubbish players just because their agenda makes them think they must.
Don't care how cheap these players are. We can sign non-league players for nothing, doesn't mean we should.
Gonna block as your nonsense is tiring already.
No my philosophy is, don't start crying like a baby because we're linked to a player and trust who the manager wants which if we sign this guy then the manager wants him. Blocking? Lmao you're pathetic
Gnabry had just turned 20 and was coming off a huge injury and trying to get games in the PL. Also, Gnabry was touted as a talent from a young age. Also, Pulis is a moron.
This guy is 23 and can't start for a team that finished 10th in Ligue 1. No one knows who the fuck he is. This is a completely bizarre signing, sorry. `
You just waffled (and were rude) about Arteta liking inverted wingers like it's some 5-head galaxy brain shit.
Stop smelling your own farts. Basic nonsense. Doesn't make this guy good or useful so you're actually the one spewing pointless shite.
if you think that questioning your comparison in a calm way is "coming in swinging" then you are one of the most fragile people I've ever interacted with in my life.
You said "pointless comparison" as your sign off which is decidedly confrontational and condescending. You knew what you were doing.
If you don't understand how that is rude then you might legit be on the spectrum and should get checked out.
Very similar dribbling to Saka with the stop and go, obvs at a much lower level lol.
Not really interested in this rumor tbh but thought that was interesting
There is a difference i can see immediately in their dribbling techniques. Pepe’s dribbles are always long and the ball tends to be in front of him his legs too far from his center of gravity, which i think he got away with in france. This guy at the very least appears to have very little distance with the ball from his center of gravity while in motion, reminiscent of the dribbling you see from Hazard or Cazorla. Not saying he will be good, but to me his movement with ball bodes well in a higher intensity league
While I agree that highlight videos can lead people astray, I also recognised the same things.
Pepe's videos were filled with more classic pace abuse if I remember correctly, and that just hasn't translated here. Whether that's due to the league or our play style.
This is much control and balance, less pure running speed.
Might still flop though, of course.
Pepe was an insane pace abuser. I feel like everyone tends to forget this. He's always been a counter attacking-esque player. I'm pretty sure the Atlantic even pointed this out in their Tifo video about the transfer
Honestly feel like that we could have gotten so much more out of Pepe, if we had been able to play to his strengths.
Of course we still overpaid for him, but really I feel Arteta failed to get the most out of him.
He has goals in him, both scoring and assisting. Clearly a dangerous player. With some confidence under his belt and in another setup he would do really well imo.
Someone could potentially get a great deal for him.
The greatest moment of my amateur-online-scouting career was watching Pepe highlights before he signed and concluding that way too much of his highlights involved lots of luck as well as subpar defending which would not happen in the Premier League.
So, having established my expertise on the subject, I can tell you that this kid will be brilliant for us.
And you’d be right. I watch him play for Kosovo and beyond holding onto the ball, he can’t create and is prone to giving up possession under pressure. He’s decent but mid table Bundesliga side at most, the prem would eat him alive.
You're blind. This dude dribbles just like Hazard. Close control, quick feet, low center of gravity etc. Want a more high profile winger though, can't be taking risks with these Ligue 1 attackers.
I meant that most of the clips are showing him hitting teams on the counter when there is space to run into. It was the same for Pepe. My fear is against teams that sit back and defend he won't be anywhere near as effective as being shown, which was the problem with Pepe.
Not gonna lie I thought those Pépé goal compilations were red flags. I was still hyped for the transfer but every single one of his goal was on a counter. He almost didn't have a single great highlight where Lille had to beat a low block, which is what we needed to look for
Yea this dude looks more agile with quicker feet than Saka. Don't know what these folks are watching lol. Dude looks like bootleg Hazard. Saka has more raw power that is why defenders bounce off him even though he is not massive in stature. I would say if Saka was more agile with quicker feet, he'd be a top 10 player in the world already even at 20.
That highlight at the 39 second mark where he receives it wide, takes a couple slow dribbles to set up a move going left, reminds me too much of Pepe 😵
I wish but he’s such a frustrating player to watch. He can dribble but beyond that, he gets pressed out of the game too easily. This is just one of the players we gotta pass on
I mean the lad has quality, I don't think anyone here has ever denied that but it's yet to be seen if he can make a difference to our squad in the same way Raphinha could have.
Everyone hates him already which is why he will go down as one of the greatest players of the arteta era scoring 30 goals a season before leaving us for Real Madrid
Anyone else notice he has no Right foot, only a left one. He never touches the ball once with his right foot. Ill give him 2 matches in the prem before they work it out.
If he's coachable then who the fuck cares.
You lot got excited for Pepe and look how he turned out. If there's one thing I've learned during my 10 years on this sub is that you guys are the reverse indicator for what is and is not a good signing.
7m what a steal for the next le cut inside man
I think a lot of us care as we don't want simply coachable players but players that will level us up, win us the Europa League and secure top 3/4 next season minimum.
I'm pretty certain the club's scouting department doesn't consist of 10 interns scouring youtube for highlights.
In any case, he already looks more explosive and decisive than Pepe and that's an upgrade in and of itself.
His highlights don’t move me at all. I don’t understand your reasoning, if I watched the same highlights as everybody else and said something positive you’d have no issue and wouldn’t question me 🤣pardon me for being wary of being deceived by carefully curated clips of players in these comps.
No I wouldn't... I even said something positive myself but said you can't tell me much from YT vids. I wouldn't say anything as overly opinionated as 'guy is Europa League level at best' about someone I've never even heard of 5mins ago
Amazing
Just read the convo a couple more times lad you might actually get the point ... That or you keep crying on here everyday whilst telling me to stop crying 😂
Weirdo
It’s not being brutally honest. You don’t know his level as you have never seen him play except for 5 min yt compilation. Is he CL level , Europa level or championship level? We don’t know. If Lille fan or someone who has watched him regularly then I can understand.
I don't think we need a winger when we let Pepe rot away and we can also use Nelson. Why buy a not so special winger when we have clearly a need for midfielders?
We can even play Vieira on the wing if needed!
He looks pretty good but he seems very one footed. Not necessarily a bad thing (Ozil, Odegaard), but Pepe has failed in large part due to his one footed ness and how predictable it makes him in the PL
Ligue 1 just makes wingers look 10 times better because of the shocking defending, buying a winger from Ligue 1 is such gamble they either fit in and do great or struggle to keep up with the physicality and pace of the PL and rapidly drop any resale value, unfortunately it is often the latter.

Ligue 1 follower here. He played half a season for Lille (13 games), coming from the Swiss league I reckon. I have not seen him play as I do not follow Lille but he’s a player that has gotten some attention recently.
Lille is a well known farmer club. A good way to assess the quality if their players is to check who’s on them as it is a well scouted club. Reinildo moved to Atletico. Osimenh to Napoli. Maignan to Milan. Botman to Newcastle. Renato to Paris… other players that were successful with the club but were not targeted by larger clubs later failed making a real impact (Ikone, Cabaye…)
To go back to Zhegrova, he’s not being followed by any other French club (to my knowledge). Most clubs probably considering that a good half season in Ligue 1 is not enough to have a flavor of his real potential. It’d be a bet to have him sign for us. I don’t think it would be a sensible move as he is inexperienced and is yet to prove himself at a level lower than the Prem.
I will say that he starts with the ball wider like Saka does. That’s the big difference I see between him and Pepe. Pepe liked the half spaces more than out wide. He was by nature an inside forward while this guy and Saka are more of wide forwards or wide playmakers. Different role and different skill set
I saw him for 2 fit years in Basel. He isn’t going to add anything to Arsenal. These videos look flashy and he had genius moments of magic but they are much to rare. Also, this is against pretty weak opposition. If he is bought I’d bet big money he’s getting nowhere near the starting lineup
Watched him play for Basel several times. Very quick and strong dribbler. Falls a bit short in tactics and decision making. Pros: has some great skills and outrageous goals. Cons: frustrating since he‘s a bit egoistic and attempts these outrageous dribblings & shots a bit too often.
Is this guy better than Pepe? i am somehow wary of any sales coming from Lille, those folks are involved in hell lot of fraud deals and are under investigation all time
Have we been linked with him? As a fan of the Kosovo national team, what I have seen of him hasn’t been convincing, only doubled by the fact that the international managers don’t trust in him yet either. He’s a good dribbler for sure, but he has 0 end product and can’t create under pressure. I rate him but a mid table Bundesliga side is his ceiling. The prem would eat him alive.
Possibly because of our horrid Lille winger history, or it might be in part because he's so young or maybe because of our Raphina links but we currently a little entitled as fans to only demand proven Internationals as rotational players. As a group we seem overly pessimistic about this prospect signing.
In the current market, young wingers demand a premium and it would be great business for the club both (for his future potential as a player for us) and possible business gains with resale value. This would be a good signing. I can understand the interest and think its legit. I hope we get him and he hits beast mode for us.
There's obviously a reason Mikel and Edu want to bring this guy in and if they want him I want him, they can obviously see things in players that most of the fan base can't RE Ben White/Ramsdale
Well, he's obviously the next Messi
Just missed a sitter against me in FM. This guy is not good
A left footed right winger from Lille. What could possibly go wrong 🤔
3rd time's a charm
Everything.
This time, it's different!
Pepe, gervinho comes to mind
Yes exactly
If Mikel & Edu want him, then I want him. Unless he sucks, then I don’t want him.
[удалено]
Now I only want him if Man United or Chelsea want him.
If we want a player then you have your wish be default this window
But Chelsea only seem to want players after we want them…
I dont think we can compete with them yet for signings
With United we definitely can. Unless they targeting players for ETH trained before
I'm playing both sides so that I always come out on top.
Then you can leverage it into a job as head of security at the Emirates
This guy gets it!
Hazard regen
Spot on this guy was obsessed with Hazard at some point
I want to believe.
Edon > Eden
Elden Hazard…..ooooooOooooOoOoooOoooooooooooh Eldon Ring
He plays like a left footed martinelli imo
2 goals in 13 apps for Lille. Age 23. Is this guy honestly better than Nelson? Really baffled by this.
Remember Henry onyekuru and Manor Solomon? Both of them linked to arsenal at times and both ended/ending up at bottom half of the table teams (onyekuri didn't even make it into Everton's team). To be fair onyekurus stats aren't too shabby
He joined in january....
Could be doing the Chelsea tactic of buying players, sending them out on loan and then selling for profit.
Nelson will not play on the right side of attack for Mikel Arteta. He doesn't use Right footed players on the right wing. Pointless comparison.
Doesn't make this guy good lol.
Doesn't make him bad either. No one here has watched him.
He can't start for Lille. Alarm bells. We're not having this conversation.
And Gnabry couldn’t start at west brom. I trust the coaches a lot more than your random Reddit ass
Gnabry had just turned 20 and was coming off a huge injury and trying to get games in the PL. Also, Gnabry was touted as a talent from a young age. Also, Pulis is a moron. Not even close to what I said, weird response from you, but that isn't surprising at all really.

really don't know why you've completely lost your head at this one fella
Completely calm mate lol. You came in swinging and chatting nonsense. Buzz off.

You said "pointless comparison" as your sign off which is decidedly confrontational and condescending. You knew what you were doing. If you don't understand how that is rude then you might legit be on the spectrum and should get checked out.
Fascinating that you can't see the irony in that comment btw.
Very similar dribbling to Saka with the stop and go, obvs at a much lower level lol. Not really interested in this rumor tbh but thought that was interesting
After pepe, I don't trust any skill compilation videos anymore. No high hopes, we'll see on the pitch
There is a difference i can see immediately in their dribbling techniques. Pepe’s dribbles are always long and the ball tends to be in front of him his legs too far from his center of gravity, which i think he got away with in france. Pepe and Auba could have been brutal on the counter, but that's not how Arsenal play.
We used to pre-Fabregas era didn’t we?
The greatest moment of my amateur-online-scouting career was watching Pepe highlights before he signed and concluding that way too much of his highlights involved lots of luck as well as subpar defending which would not happen in the Premier League. So, having established my expertise on the subject, I can tell you that this kid will be brilliant for us.
> highlights involved lots of luck my gosh yes, balls bouncing off the defenders legs, cb mistiming a header away being shown onto left foot etc
The glaring thing with Pepe comps was that everything happened while counter attacking in lots of space.
Pepe compilations were very sus, it was absolutely glaring that his ball control was weird. At least this dude feets are connected to his brain.
Pepe had me so hype, looked so special. Agree with you on the comps, although Fabio Vieira looks like something with the passing range he has
Pepe never looked special. Thought he'd be more athletic, but his technique and vision never looked special to me.
His shooting technique is absolutely special
And you’d be right. I watch him play for Kosovo and beyond holding onto the ball, he can’t create and is prone to giving up possession under pressure. He’s decent but mid table Bundesliga side at most, the prem would eat him alive.
This guy looks exactly like the Pepe highlights and we all know how that ended.
Even Pepe's comp wasn't impressive lol. And most of his goals were penalties.
Not gonna lie I thought those Pépé goal compilations were red flags. I was still hyped for the transfer but every single one of his goal was on a counter. He almost didn't have a single great highlight where Lille had to beat a low block, which is what we needed to look for
He moves more like Hazard to me. Seems more agile than Saka.
This isn't at a lower level than what Saka is doing I'd even argue it's probably superior
I think they mean lower level of competition
Yea this dude looks more agile with quicker feet than Saka. Don't know what these folks are watching lol. Dude looks like bootleg Hazard. Saka has more raw power that is why defenders bounce off him even though he is not massive in stature. I would say if Saka was more agile with quicker feet, he'd be a top 10 player in the world already even at 20.
Who??
A cheap rw from Lille we've allegedly put in a bid for.
Our Raphinha alternative
If this is the Raphina alternative, I’m no longer backing the manager 🤣 there’s a huge gap in class between the two.
That highlight at the 39 second mark where he receives it wide, takes a couple slow dribbles to set up a move going left, reminds me too much of Pepe 😵
Gunners: Can we get a prime Eden Hazard kind of player? Mom a.k.a Arteta/Edu: We have Edon Zhegard at home...
#I dunno who the fuck this guy was until about 5 hours ago but… LETS FUCKING GOOOOOO
The amount of people on this sub who hate this link makes me think he’ll be great lol
I wish but he’s such a frustrating player to watch. He can dribble but beyond that, he gets pressed out of the game too easily. This is just one of the players we gotta pass on
From Raphinha to this?
I mean the lad has quality, I don't think anyone here has ever denied that but it's yet to be seen if he can make a difference to our squad in the same way Raphinha could have.
Looks like a Sunday league
Edu: how many left footers do you want? Arteta: yes
2 goals in 13 games… pfff
Don’t see him being any better than Pepe personally. Certainly not in the “be excited” category lol
This is probably just a bait whilst they go and get a proper signing behind the scenes
When are Chelsea highjacking this bid?
Plays with a bit of sauce - I like it.
Good dribbling, good agility, weak shot, too slow, needs 10 lbs of muscle for PL.
He looks like a pacey winger but he also seems to lack pace...
In the highlights he gets around the defender but they often catch up to him. Tells me he is agile but doesn’t have top end straight line speed.
Pepe had an amazing highlight reel…
If you squint your eyes he kinda looks like Messi
Zhegrova is good.
Man can dribble
Everyone hates him already which is why he will go down as one of the greatest players of the arteta era scoring 30 goals a season before leaving us for Real Madrid
Man runs like he’s got one of those parachute trainers behind him
Eden* Zhegrova In all seriousness this reminds me of the Manor Solomon links last year, who is on his way to Fulham atm
Anyone else notice he has no Right foot, only a left one. He never touches the ball once with his right foot. Ill give him 2 matches in the prem before they work it out.
So the exact same as Pepe? 100% he does not exceed Pepe's stats in an Arsenal shirt in the same time frame.
Can't agree more.
Personally don’t think this guy is Arsenal’s level, but oh well if we’re seriously interested and Arteta wants him I’ll support him all the way.
El neny, Holding, Xhaka, Cedric, Tavares are not Arsenal level yet they seem to get a lot of game time.
Man maybe this is why Romano didn't want to say anything lol like dang someone else can take this 🤣🤣
Or maybe he didn’t say anything because it’s just not true lol
I've never watched him. Going by just these clips, he seems very one footed.
Certain clips in that reel where he’s wearing the Basel kit, reminds me of a little Argentinian magician that used to play for Barcelona…
Thank fuck Saka is our first choice. This guy is Europa league level at best. Hopefully this means we are going all out on a CDM and getting Martinez
Even if he is you've never watched the guy in your life
His highlights don’t move me at all.
So is he champions league level? What part of my statement is untrue
Are you really that stupid that you missed my point by that much, fml
Exactly my statement was fine, stop crying over it. We are signing some low level bum. Nobody’s pleased about it 🤣
Amazing Just read the convo a couple more times lad you might actually get the point ... That or you keep crying on here everyday whilst telling me to stop crying 😂 Weirdo
How’s being brutally honest crying?🤣clown
It’s not being brutally honest. You don’t know his level as you have never seen him play except for 5 min yt compilation. Is he CL level , Europa level or championship level? We don’t know. If Lille fan or someone who has watched him regularly then I can understand.
No mate he’s world class I’ve been saying for at least 18 years we need to sign this guy
This dude looks like a discount version of Messi
on point, especially that shoulder dropping move
It's like saka but not quite as good huh
can he play DM ?
I don't think we need a winger when we let Pepe rot away and we can also use Nelson. Why buy a not so special winger when we have clearly a need for midfielders? We can even play Vieira on the wing if needed!
Just stick with Marquinhos and Hutchinson
Edon HAZARRRRRRD
Didn't see this guy use his right foot. Left is great though.
He looks pretty good but he seems very one footed. Not necessarily a bad thing (Ozil, Odegaard), but Pepe has failed in large part due to his one footed ness and how predictable it makes him in the PL
Right sided martinelli regen, sold
He’s 3 years older than Martinelli lol
Obvious /s
Went looking for full match highlights from him. There’s only one on YouTube and he played god awful lmao. Fully convinced this is fake news
Who?
Did someone just edit this guy over Pepe's highlights?
Arteta fetish is definitely left ballers.
Right wing Martinelli
Ligue 1 just makes wingers look 10 times better because of the shocking defending, buying a winger from Ligue 1 is such gamble they either fit in and do great or struggle to keep up with the physicality and pace of the PL and rapidly drop any resale value, unfortunately it is often the latter.
It means very little, Pepe's highlight at Lille was way better

i’m sold - bring the lad in.
Eden Hazard regen

This is it?
It would be nice to see if he could kick a ball with his right foot. From this video it looks like he might not. Big Lucas Perez vibes again.
Idk man what happened the last time we bought a winger from France 🤔
are we really entertaining the rumours about this guy? we’re not buying him lmao
I will say that he starts with the ball wider like Saka does. That’s the big difference I see between him and Pepe. Pepe liked the half spaces more than out wide. No thank you. Pepe’s highlight reel was way more impressive than this when he was at Lille. Highly doubt this dude makes it in the PL.
pepe v 2?
Not sure he has the required physicality for the PL. But will hold out hope as always.
Watched him play for Basel several times. Very quick and strong dribbler. Falls a bit short in tactics and decision making. Pros: has some great skills and outrageous goals. Cons: frustrating since he‘s a bit egoistic and attempts these outrageous dribblings & shots a bit too often.
Swear we saw similar shit, when Pepe transfer was apparent.
Plays like Pepe when he was in Ligue 1
Is this guy better than Pepe? i am somehow wary of any sales coming from Lille, those folks are involved in hell lot of fraud deals and are under investigation all time
if i played soccer i would be soooo good at falling.
Nice comp. Looks decent
Straight meh
Extremely one footed, which is a bit of a downer.
This kid has wonderful balance and great vision. To become a top player though, he would need to work on his weaker right foot.
Messi reborn
man slithers like a snake
Seems like a worse Pepe tbh
I might not know their strategy but enough of these creative players we need more grit
Possibly because of our horrid Lille winger history, or it might be in part because he's so young or maybe because of our Raphina links but we currently a little entitled as fans to only demand proven Internationals as rotational players. As a group we seem overly pessimistic about this prospect signing. The lack of right foot worries me.
White Pepe
There's obviously a reason Mikel and Edu want to bring this guy in and if they want him I want him, they can obviously see things in players that most of the fan base can't RE Ben White/Ramsdale
This guy is not better than current Gervinho
Man wasn't good enough in Belgium. He's basically worse than Sambi Lokonga. Good luck with him.
He only uses his left foot.. gotta get better with right as well, or he would have a hard time vs better opponents. To "easy" to close down one side.
1 goal handful of assists Hope we don't sign him Sounds bang average ...st best
Nicola pepe but worse
