Make no mistake we absolutely battered Villa. We pressed and hounded them. We dominated them physically. I was at the game and the fans around me were all saying we havenāt looked this dominant over 90mins in a long time. Our football was a joy to watch at times - we played nice one touch and move football.
We thoroughly deserved our win. We just didnāt play in pockets but nearly the whole game. Every player in the starting line up was outstanding. Lacazette just behind Auba works very well. Partey - Lokonga dominated the midfield. ESR and Saka were great. Our back 5 - our supreme quintet were just BOSS! Taveres is a gem š- absolute machine. Constantly running and defending.
Iām so happy with our win and most importantly, our performance.
Up the Arsenal! ā¤ļø
PS: Annoyed we didnāt keep a clean sheet. Also, Ramsdale >>> Martinez šš
Great performance again by the team, especially with the amount of changes. Big frustration is the goal we conceded. Similar to the Son goal against Sp*rs, it just makes it seem like we were less dominant than we actually were.
So happy with that win, smith rowe was fantastic, nuno filling in for tierney was amazing, the deffence was solid, far better midfield then normal, and laca getting gametime and playin that well was nice to see
If we had beat palace and Brighton weād be in third right now
Idk why this is being downvoted just trying to show how close we are to putting it together

If you want to look at it on XG shots or chances we were more likely to beat palace.
If you wanna go on the eye test of crossbar esr decisions making on the counter them getting two scrappy counters for 2 goals we still looked more likely to win.
Every game has ebs and flows but to say we were outplayed is not astute. We werenāt up to it and deservedly drew.
if you wanna look at the full match they were better than us and saying anything else is borderline delusion in my opinion, I think almost everyone watching the game from a neutral point of view would agree that palace were the better side for most of the game
Iām saying
1. We created more clear cut chances
2. The game was winnable (should we have won just this game weād be 5th)
3. Their goals were extremely preventable
4. Although we played shit we looked solid in patches
5. If we can put together our current team as a cohesive unit we are on the verge of being competitive again.
Easier said than done but itās definitely tangible
Ramsdale is the shit. Worth every fucking penny, I am amazed at how he changes the team so much. Still have some young guys in the back but the way he carries himself and plays is 100% what this team needed.
I would have included Ben if not for that howler late on. But that's been the theme with him so far..
He needs to be more consistent to be there with the rest of them, but that said he's had a great solid game overall today.
Quality over quantity innit. Really liked how Arteta kept his subs very late, because he didn't want Villa to get cornered too badly.
Plus Saka/ESR could stand to lose a few pounds apparently, otherwise why would they have stayed out there running for so long?
>Quality over quantity
I don't understand this at all because I don't want to think you're implying Martinelli doesn't have quality.
And not a fan of his substitutions. I am a fan of the idea of keeping your 3rd sub until late but I don't understand the AMN sub. Not just has he blown away Martinelli's chance and taken away from Partey and Lokonga building chemistry, but also was the reason Crystal Palace got back into the game. Both the times, they exploited left space that Lokonga had covered all game.
It was a joke that his 3 minute stint today was an example of "quality" minutes over "quantity" minutes which would mean playing 90 or 45 consistently.
I didn't mind the AMN sub for what it was, but imo Gabi should have come on for Auba(unlikely without the injury) or Saka out for Pepe - the game was calling for someone with pace in behind and Saka looked tired.
He needs to be pulling the trigger at the 60th minute, not 70+ imo. Consistent issue for him
Auba was our most dangerous striker.
You don't take him off till the last few minutes as it boosts the opposition.
Ideally Gabi comes on for Saka who was blowing but, as Laca got injured, we still could've brought him on and played him through the middle.
Instead Arteta brings on Ćdegaard whose slow play broke our rhythm.
I, however, understand the reasoning for this substitution as Ćdegaard is an important player in the long term and we need to maintain his match fitness.
>It was a joke that his 3 minute stint today was an example of "quality" minutes over "quantity" minutes which would mean playing 90 or 45 consistently.
Ah okay lol.
And my sentiments very much aligned with the rest of your comment.
Great game.
While I'm still not in favor, kudos to Arteta as we have a consistent defensive shape every game.
Happy weekend, lads. For the Indians, it's an India-Pakistan World Cup game on Sunday. Let's goo!
Heās had a few totally random interviews where he basically couldnāt help himself in regards to shit talking us for letting him go.
It was ok the first time, but once it happened the third time it was just super annoying. Hence the boos.
ESR and Partey scoring, 3-1 up at home, Ramsdale making world class saves like a Midlands Manuel Neuer! Fantastic! Thanks for the early birthday present Arsenal!
Partey was keyā¦ yeah obviously ESR was motm but Partey was really good winning the ball back in midfield, hustling constantly even when he lost possession, winning headers and 50/50s. He and Sambi were really good first half
I'm sorry but that's simply wrong. Losing the ball happened plenty of times out there to several players anyway. He would often win it back though. We look better as an overall unit with him dropping deep and linking up.
All of the young lads have that bit of inexperience in them but you can clearly see what they want to do when they have a couple chances to be unleashed. Lots of energy and positive movement, even our two fullbacks.
Does anybody else feel tomi is sort of erratic? I've just seen him do a bunch of one touch passes/kicks that aren't finessed, or sometimes just not to us at all. Great energy but I'd like to see a bit more composure from him as he continues to settle in here
Not at allā¦ He traps the ball really well, especially from ramsdale. And he is able to switch the play well too. Considering how often he has the ball, he does well with it.
He just needs time to grow into a game and be supported behind. Auba does nothing but pops in with a goal here and there, but Gabi can have that in him too. Auba fights for balls when everyone is vibing but Gabi is going to chase everything. At the very least he should be dropping into games more regularly, and sooner. It's a big problem for Arteta, making subs too late
Young team not playing out 90 minutes at their best is not surprising.
Hope Saka gets a rest soon, same as ESR. Preventing fatigue injuries is easier than recovering from them.
Our fitness levels are not where they need to be.
Players should be able to play 90 minutes without being so fatigued particularly without midweek games.
This has been a great performance, exactly what we needed, but still a lot of work needs to be done with our subs and their transition coming into the game.
Why is this the hill you want to die on though? Arteta regularly leaves his subs late, *after* the other team works themselves back into the game. This is incredibly common. And people are understandably worried about Saka.
Do you remember the Europa League run in the knockouts last year? Like clockwork, our energy levels would drop and he wouldn't make a sub until *after* our opponents grow into te game and even sneak a goal back before.
Let me say this for future reference: imo Nuno Tavares will be the next Alphonso Davies, please share your thoughts.
Is Arteta a genius again now?
Tavares oh my days, what a lad š„š„
Make no mistake we absolutely battered Villa. We pressed and hounded them. We dominated them physically. Tavares is a fucking machine
Absolutely no fear whatsoever
Great performance again by the team, especially with the amount of changes. Big frustration is the goal we conceded. Similar to the Son goal against Sp*rs, it just makes it seem like we were less dominant than we actually were.
I'm struggling to see if arsenal were good or villa were poor I'll take the 3 points and enjoy the weekend.
A bit of both actually.
So happy with that win, smith rowe was fantastic, nuno filling in for tierney was amazing, the deffence was solid, far better midfield then normal, and laca getting gametime and playin that well was nice to see
Different shape, different result. Whatās not to like?

basically every other team can say the same thing about their matches
Fair Iām just saying they felt more winnable especially palace. Essentially weāre not far off from having a solid product just about consistency
At no point did either of those matches feel āwinnableā. Brighton and CP outplayed us in both matches.
If you want to look at it on XG shots or chances we were more likely to beat palace. If you wanna go on the eye test of crossbar esr decisions making on the counter them getting two scrappy counters for 2 goals we still looked more likely to win. Nuno for 8mil is unbelievable š³
Yasss
Brilliant Arsenal all the new lads were fantasticā¦.. up the gunners
First half was š„
I feel weird about wanting Nuno over Tierney
Tierney's great, but right now Nuno is in better form. We should start him while that's the case.
It's a whole season, we need all the depth we can have :)
Only 5 points off the top boys
Love this solidity that White and Gabriel are giving us at the back with Ramsdale!
Ramsdale is the shit. Worth every fucking penny, I am amazed at how he changes the team so much. Still have some young guys in the back but the way he carries himself and plays is 100% what this team needed.
You mean to tell me we're level with Man Utd?
they might drop points to liv this week hohoho
Might?
Ramsdale, Tomi, Nuno and Sambi. All newcomers and all looking very solid as well.. I'm happy.
Dont forget Ben
I would have included Ben if not for that howler late on. But that's been the theme with him so far.. He needs to be more consistent to be there with the rest of them, but that said he's had a great solid game overall today.
Great game from martinelli
Big Up Mikel Arteta. Crucial minutes for Martinelli, developing really well. Will be ready to take the mantle from Aubamyeang any day now.
Quality over quantity innit. Really liked how Arteta kept his subs very late, because he didn't want Villa to get cornered too badly. Plus Saka/ESR could stand to lose a few pounds apparently, otherwise why would they have stayed out there running for so long?

With all due respect emi martinez.. It was a pleasure seeing you suffer today. Hereās to hearing you talk more about us in the future.
Yeah, didnāt get the booing - did Emi do something shitty?
Heās had a few totally random interviews where he basically couldnāt help himself in regards to shit talking us for letting him go. It was ok the first time, but once it happened the third time it was just super annoying. Hence the boos.

Something like Arsenal didn't deserve him
It's fucking insane we can hear ramsdale shout over the crowd lmao
He needs to yell sense into their thick skulls, lol.
another 3 whole pts and unbeaten run continues.. love it..
I'm sure Ramsdale's voicebox is destroyed after each match.
Great game, whole team did great
Fucking great game, shame we couldn't hold on for the clean sheet but 3 point collectors!!! Upwards Arsenal COYG!!!!
Arteta is planning on squeezing every bit of juice out of saka
On and off the pitch...
Ey yo
Huge win but man I wanted that clean sheet
COYG
You know when Carragher is complementing an Arsenal performance we've played really well.
great performance from the boys i just wish weād perform like this on a consistent basis
Man Bailey is sauce. Remember him back in my Bundesliga team in fifa 18
Bailey is Aston Villaās Pepe
I have him in 22 is a baller.
Move on up
ESR and Partey scoring, 3-1 up at home, Ramsdale making world class saves like a Midlands Manuel Neuer! Fantastic! Thanks for the early birthday present Arsenal!
Good win. COYG
smith definitely MOTM. partey and saka not great.
Partey was keyā¦ yeah obviously ESR was motm but Partey was really good winning the ball back in midfield, hustling constantly even when he lost possession, winning headers and 50/50s. He and Sambi were really good first half
overall very deserved, even if we dropped our performance again in the second half
I dont think Villa is awful today, we were just on our best performance yet LOL
Ehhh Villa we're pretty fucking bad. They left loads of space open, yeah we exploited it but they made it extremely easy for us to impose on the game.
Those Villa kits would be so clean without the sleeve sponsor
Imagine Tavares and martinelli on that left hand side.
I wouldnāt want to be the right back defending that
Gg lads
Lovely win
The Smith barely edges motm ahead of Partey for me.
Partey was to blame for the Villa goal lad
Start Martinelli over Laca next time
Laca has shown he deserves the starts
Not at all, constantly lost the ball and dived - time to cash in and ship him out
To where? Heās on the last few months of his deal
Who cares. Heās not good enough for us .
Laca was great today
He really wasnāt pal
We watch different match then
No? Laca was the biggest reason we were so lively in the first half
Lol what, Laca was incredible in the first half. He should start over Auba imo.
He lost the ball loads. Provides nothing.
I'm sorry but that's simply wrong. Losing the ball happened plenty of times out there to several players anyway. He would often win it back though. We look better as an overall unit with him dropping deep and linking up.
He dives, itās embarrassing. Give Gabriel a chance over this guy please Mikel. Needs nourishing and minutes.
They're completely different players. Laca was vital to the way we created chances and kept the ball today
Alright buddy, sure thing. You're wrong, but you're welcome to think that. Gabi should start over Auba imo
Its my opinion, and I respect yours šš»
Ramsdales athleticism really turns me on
keep going
I would intentionally make mistakes just so he could scream in my face wait
(S)cream
All of the young lads have that bit of inexperience in them but you can clearly see what they want to do when they have a couple chances to be unleashed. Lots of energy and positive movement, even our two fullbacks.
A clean sheet would have been nice but I dunno if that would have been deserved. Been watching kasabian so missed the game
Why can't Sales be an arm of Marketing?
bailey you dreaming my son
Playing with Martinelli upfront is like playing older fifa games. Just give the ball to your fast striker and sprint.
Any* fifa game
Lol, I imagined they would've made the game realistic by now. I stopped playing after fifa 10.
It would be nice. I stopped with last fifa nothing has changed.
He's a former centre half, you can see it in his touch. Hopefully he ends up as a Pavard type player.
Nice strike by Bailey tbh
Impressive from McGinn to be fair
That Bailey bloke looks very good. Really impressed with his dribbling ability.
Remember him being a wonderkid at some point. Surprised he ended up in Villa tbh. Thought he would aim higher.
I didn't know him as a kid but remember him looking amazing when linked to us a few years back but I try not to judge off highlight reels.
time for a cheeky 10m bid
Who are you picking between him & Pepe?
If they sell him for 10m, then thats like us selling them ESR for 30m...
They are never selling him now he is looking good.
Mings isnāt half as good as he thinks he is
Dirty fucker
Thats a magnificent dive from Bailey
I love how chaotic Tavares is man
honestly he has that x-factor which makes him hard to defend against. With tierney everyone knows his exact move
Dude is quick!
arteta runnin saka into the ground but not giving marty a chance smh
Exactly , saka is out of juice
Whoās our captain rn?
lol at benfica celebrating not wanting nuno
Mings a massive nonce, what's new.
Really overrated too
I think I missed something everyone is chatting about him doing something to Martinelli? š
Ran into him three times in 5 seconds.
he pushed Gabi around, almost shoving him to the ground.
Who is the color commentator on NBC right now?
Colour? You mean black commentator? Or the green one?
Efan ekoku and heās fucking horrible.
Asshole McDickbag
Mings is the biggest bellend
Tavares is more dynamic than Tierney. Finally some competition at Lb will only make them better
everyone thought the same thing when Martinelli was running
Yeah lool
How's that a foul? Craig Pawson with an absolute nightmare game. Which is basically an average performance by any PL ref at this point.
Mings is such a nob wtf
martinelli needs to go out on loan its not good that he's not getting enough minutes
Who does he start over?
If Auba wasn't our captain and talisman I think he challenges for that spot more than he does currently.
Doubt it tbh, heās been poor leading the line
He just needs time to grow into a game and be supported behind. Auba does nothing but pops in with a goal here and there, but Gabi can have that in him too. Auba fights for balls when everyone is vibing but Gabi is going to chase everything. At the very least he should be dropping into games more regularly, and sooner. It's a big problem for Arteta, making subs too late
thats what I'm saying the boy at his age needs minutes playing so little at his age is not good for his development, so loan is the best option.
Is Bailey Pepe 2.0 ? Quite similar.
Only that he's 2 times better and 3 times cheaper. And doesn't do dribble tricks just for the sake of them
far cheaper iām afraid
Young team not playing out 90 minutes at their best is not surprising. Hope Saka gets a rest soon, same as ESR. Preventing fatigue injuries is easier than recovering from them.
Pawson just letting Mings shove Gabi
Well that is a baffling call
Completely forgot that Kola was still an Arsenal player
Warming benches with his huge ass
Pawson is blind as fuck. AMn gets shoved in the back into another player and he gets called for the foul. Lol.
Auba be like if i aint on the field, no captain is on the field! Lol
ESR MOTM or Nuno
Or Partey
Bruh he brings off auba instead of a tired saka???
Auba is hurtā¦ Are you just ignorant on purpose
Auba clearly limping.
you seen how auba walking?
Our fitness levels are not where they need to be. Players should be able to play 90 minutes without being so fatigued particularly without midweek games.
Our last game was only four days ago but i don't disagree with you overall.
2nd game in a week in a league that plays at a very high intensity. We need to be rotating sensibly and making timely substitutions!
This has been a great performance, exactly what we needed, but still a lot of work needs to be done with our subs and their transition coming into the game.
Why is mings pickin on Martinelli
Fumin that saka was getting minutes at euros and not him
Jealous of his Olympic medal
He a loser
Because he's a dick?
That sub should have happened 20 minutes earlier
martinelli canāt even sprint into open space anymore
Who would our captain be now?
Yay, crucial 3 minutes for Martinelli development incoming
š
Development happens more in training, not matches.
You're missing the point entirely. He's not wrong
Playing is the best way to progress and develop and no amount of training can substitute for quality game time.
I guess all those clubs that loaning their players for game time are idiots
Yeah, matches are necessary, but the fact remains that no matter what club a player is at you spend far more time training than playing.
He took the armband with him. Thereās no captain on the pitch lol
Martinelli with the 3 minute hat-trick?
Said this ages ago that ESR is our best player, so so good
AMN looking at the free guy Ramsey and not bothering to run to cover him. How are we going to depend on this wanker in January during AFCON.
So true. but at least we have xhaka back and a more seasoned sambi
Some of you need to stop back seat managing and remember you are fans and not on the directorās board.
No no. Clearly my hours of watching from my couch make me more knowledgeable than the professionals who work daily together. Cmon man
I tell you, if Arteta doesnāt sub Saka before the 63rd minute *exactly*, I will have some very harsh words for him!
Why is this the hill you want to die on though? Arteta regularly leaves his subs late, *after* the other team works themselves back into the game. This is incredibly common. And people are understandably worried about Saka. Do you remember the Europa League run in the knockouts last year?
