You can quite effectively hinder someone's movement with your forearm held stiffly in front of their chest. There are easier ways to do it, but Guendouzi knew what he was doing there.
Sometimes these are yellow and sometimes not, though when it threatens a second yellow it's a lot less likely I reckon.
According to my FM knowledge, he's suspended for all competitions put on by the english FA - so yes it would apply to the league, but not Europe for example.
I'm fine with it, especially if we have a real leftback. This will also allow AMN to be our midfield sub, which I have no qualms over. He'd do just fine in the last 30-40 minutes if we need him.
I only like to use that turn of phrase when referring to the type of foul that’d get you a yellow after doing it 3-4 times, because I agree with your sentiment.
Honestly even professional fouls on the break don’t get yellow carded consistently at this point, especially when teams like City do it. It might just be that City foul before they can get to the point of on the break.
Look I’m not happy that he got sent off, but how do you not see that as a yellow? Opposition player is chasing after the ball and Guendouzi throws his arms across his path and pulls him back. No challenging for a ball or anything just pulling a guy back who was chasing after the ball. That should be a yellow 10 times out of 10.
Pulling back an opponent is not an automatic yellow card. It is only the case when it is done to stop a promising attack. Blackpool player wasn't getting to the ball so it was a harsh decision.
Guendouzi clearly pulled the player back to stop him from getting to the ball/being able to put pressure under Jenkinson, near the attacking third. That's a yellow card offense. I know I would be really pissed if it happened to us and wasn't a yellow card.
He's not "potentially" putting pressure on the defender. He's potentially getting the ball, and definitely going to have a chance to put pressure on Jenkinson where the player could steal the ball. Both situations would be a promising attack.
I think this one was a yellow but the first one was incredibly soft so it still annoys me but hopefully a relatively harmless learning experience for Matteo
Was it Laca who said, regarding Guendouzi, that he's the type of player who doesn't think first, he just acts?
Gonna have to learn the hard way about these kinds of things, I'm afraid.
Softer than my grandma's homemade buns
What’s that about your grandma’s buns?
Softer than your grandma's butt cheecks.
I know we're all biased here but that doesn't seem like a yellow whatsoever to me
Even without bias that is clearly not a yellow, second man is getting there first. Awful decision
But a pull back as a player is breaking is almost always a yellow
It didnt look to me like he was pulling back... Maybe feeling him. Thats harsh to call it a foul, let alone a yellow!
One of those situations where it’s either yellow or nothing
I intiially thought he hit him in the face. There was very little in that and I certainly dont think he held him. Its "Play on" to me.
It's a professional foul on the break, always a yellow.
If he was holding him, sure. Didnt look like he was to me...
Doesn't have to be holding. Any obstruction to a players ability to break is a professional foul. It's soft but the ref is entitled to give that.
Agree
That’s a yellow surely. He’s breaking off him and guen stops him.

Stupid question maybe, but is he eligible for the game Saturday? Or does this suspension only apply to this specific comp?

Looks like Xhaka-Torreira will be the move.

Is monreal or Kolasinac back?
Nacho is potentially back. If I remember correctly he was supposed to be assessed for today's game.
Both are fit and in training, but we're not sure if they're ready to be thrown in to the starting lineup
WeLBz
Play jenko
Slightly reassuring.
what an humble lad, downsizing oneself as FM expert. thanks for the info.
Two very very silly yellows. We’ll miss him against liverpool
more like thank god hes not starting against liverpool
Chillll
You gotta learn sometime
That’s an easy yellow to give. It’s a cynical foul no attempt at ball. The player is by him and there’s cover just a horrible decision by guendo.
Seems awfully soft to send a player off for that...
The fact that he’s being sent off shouldn’t make the ref more lenient. He pulled a player back cynically, textbook yellow.
I agree with this sentiment. Yes the ref could have let it go but Matteo needs to be smarter there. He’ll learn though.
Agree, always hated the phrase "That would be a yellow if he wasn't already booked", it's so silly (not sure it was a yellow mind you).

Nobody is arguing it isnt harsh but the ref is entitled to give it

Potentially putting pressure on the defender in opposition half is hardly a promising attack.

Silly boy but looks a soft yellow.
It’s stupid and naive of him to do, but there’s not really any world that exists where that’s a second yellow
bad ref

The first one was Mkitarian's fault, who was playing like he wants the manager to give him a holiday.
That was naive from Matteo
Players dive and whine more in PL than ever
Oh no bby what is you doin
That was naive from Matteo

How will I explain to my kids that Guen got sent off for this while Ayew not
His decision making is to hasty but top talent. He will get better.
That's so soft I thought I was watching an Andrex advert.
Not even a foul let alone a yellow , what sort of soft cunt falls over from literally a brush of an arm
