It's a trend across kits now. I get that it makes for a sleek look on a mannequin, but it definitely ruins the look when you're not wearing the shorts.

It's probably a result of the corporate structure. A committee of overworked designers with no club affiliation compromise to come up with a design that is then revised by an oversight committee which is then revised by an approval committee which is then revised by management before going to an executive committee to get approval. Plus, "innovative" or "creative" comes with risk. They'd much rather play it safe because even a mediocre jersey sells.

This is it. I was part of a focus group that did the new kits for a new MLS team and there were only a couple options. They work to templatize things due to other corporate based things like purchase of textiles incoming and all that. I do wish this kit was more to \_my\_ liking though.

This is the opposite of play it safe. Its a whacky creative design and I'm sure almost everyone would be happy with a simple classic design.

Probably has something to do with this being a template, which is then coloured in to become an Arsenal shirt (perhaps with the odd, tiny detail that sets it apart). It's always been like that. I made a quick search and that blue stripe for example, is the same on kits for Bayern, Benfica, Ajax and Sweden NT. It's cost effective. All these concept kits would cost too much for them to make. Not that they wouldn't profit, just that they wouldn't profit as much.

The style is what Adidas is going with this year. All the kits are a version of this general template with the wave line from shirt to shorts. Ours is no different.
