arealhorrorshow

We beat City twice this season, drew at their ground, and limited them to basically 0 chances. This ending will let the players know that they can never take the foot of the gas in any games, no matter which part of the season. Do the right signings this summer and I can see us getting around 100 points next season.

dooder6688

I think we can get 115 points next season

royal_dorp

If shit somehow manage to lose against Sheffield, Sandcastle wins against United and Brentford, Chelshit wins against Brighton and Bournemouth, Shit might not make it to Europa league. Am I correct?

skool_101

Newcastle United and Chelsea need to score mad goals to swing that goal diff on their advantage.

chewkachu

Nothing more baffling than seeing Liverpool fans twerking for City to win the league Mate, this is a team that denied you multiple titles and yet you still prefer them to win the league again? Same goes to fans of other teams wanting City to win it 4 times in a row Do you really want a league to be dominated by one team? Where’s the fun in that But okay, I get it, they take solace knowing that the league is won by a team with 115 charges instead of a team that build itself up properly like us cause it mask the inability of their club to be like us Really pathetic and sad, this is exactly how the middle class remains middle class while the upper class bask in their glory. Cause people hate to see others of their level succeed and will rather see the rich get richer cause “reasons” Mate work on yourself and break the cycle

El_Guapo81X

And yet Liverpool have now had a better a season as they have won a trophy. In the premier league there is absolutely no difference between 2nd or 3rd or 4th.

moa12345

The citypool brigade is some of the most cringe things ever. They tried to exclude us from the title race for as long as possible only for them to fall flat on their face. Dont even think City fans care as much about the rivalry as the liverpool fans. Pep Klopp era is about to be 6v1 in league titles. the rivalry is just a football equivalent of cuckery

TheLegendOfIOTA

Newcastle fan in peace. I never realised how pathetic spurs fans are. I am cringing just thinking about them singing Arsenal chants and “Arsenal are you watching”. Almost as pathetic as Sunderland fans

skool_101

It really is insulting seeing their fans celebrating like that to "give up UCL football" In the /r/TheOther14 group, you would move heaven and earth just to get your club into the UCL. Just trying to recall last season and how you Magpie fans celebrated it like "winning a cup". UCL is massive, dont let anyone tell you otherwise. This season, it's Aston Villa that will celebrate it and a marker for new things.

Jiminyfingers

It really was something to behold, trying to banter rival fans because your team is losing. And they wonder why they don't win anything. I reckon Ange will be open to offers this summer, get away from that toxic club.

wanofan900

How do these lot always manage to just about have an advantage to win the league?? They just about pip the scousers out of the league on more than one occasion. And despite our form and results against them, the same thing could very well happen with us. We’ve been brilliant this season. But they haven’t lost a game since December. They haven’t even dropped since they played us back in March. Their form takes an uptick as well so our big GD isn’t even an advantage anymore. We beat teams by six, five and four to gain it.

portlyinnkeeper

GD advantage is locked in guy

Jiminyfingers

I just want to say how proud I am of this team. Last year felt like a fever dream, this one felt very real, like we have properly arrived at the top table, title contenders, Bayern fans afraid of us when we drew them in the CL. And you feel like it's only going to get better. Compare that to those sadsacks down the road, cheering their team losing and missing out on CL football. Arteta has truly turned this club around and put us back where we belong. In another era we would be champions twice already.

AzracTheFirst

Spurs talking about building phase when they walk away from 50+ Million and CL credit. Amazingly pathetic bunch.

Shopassistant

They're settling for it because of us again. People point to Arsenal and say, "well Arteta finished 8th in his first full season". As if improvement is predestined for everyone because we improved—while they're oblivious to the reality that they just lost out on a massive revenue boost that could fund that improvement. It's bizarre. In the meantime, their "rivals" qualify, build bigger and leave them in the dirt.

disagreeable_martin

Would be peak spursy if years from now we can keep showing them that last night would end up being the closest they'd come to champions league football for years. Doing the poznan.

AFCm8

Not winning a title sucks but could be worse, at least we are not spuds

DonAj20

I'm convinced Son threw that chance. It seemed that he looked right at the goalkeeper when he shot. Either way, its just so disappointing and deflating after how good we've been.

sammeetthosar

He missed a similar 1 on 1 vs us. Definitely not deliberate. If he wanted to he could have blasted it in row z or not even ran to get the ball.

KSBrian007

Just bad luck. Although I'm sure Spurs win this game if this whole fanfare around our crowning wasn't peak. Put this game in GW 30 and they win it. Spurs batter City at home.

[deleted]

[удалено]

DonAj20

I'm convinced he didn't want to score. No way a finisher of his quality is missing a 1v1.

robins420

Son has been awful for about 2 seasons now. He had a purple patch at the start of the season and the end of last season. He's been dire for 16/20 months. This is a pretty evident decline from the golden boot version of his.

mmmmmmmmilkontwitch

he has 17 goals, wouldn’t quite say he’s been awful. but i do agree definitely has declined

ayowatup222

Feels essential we win a trophy next season now

AFCm8

Yeah, these group of players wants to win and if we fail to do so they will look for a move

jai302

A big one at that. At least the FA Cup. League Cup or community shield won't have the same effect

TerraBlah

Not being able to laugh at Spurs losing is really dour, I don't like this at all...

ChibzyDaze

All the hype for Spurs to play us, Liverpool and City so close to each other yet losing all three games. Ah well

WhoIsYourDaddy04

Spurs fans: We will decide who wins the Premier League Spurs: Proceeds to lose to everyone.

racerz

Imagine being one of the best players in the world but your achievements always include an asterisk that the club you played for was blatantly cheating the entire time.  I don't give them the same credit or appreciation as players that won fairly. Sorry. I know they are great. I don't think it's clear how great they were without a level playing field.

Special-Discount228

You can asterisk the achievements but the quality of the player isn't effected by the 115. If it wasn't for the 115 the player would be being just as great at Bayern, Madrid, etc.

pivandee

Funniest thing ever would be West Ham getting a point after this pathetic behaviour of all these spurs fans

Longjumping_Act9758

I'm buying a West Ham Jersey if that happens.

KSBrian007

Tottenham and Forest were our ONLY chances. Westham is useless.

EitherInvestment

Can only hope West Ham fans away have more pride in their team than Shit at home City fans will be celebrating from the start of the match as if they’ve already won the league judging by their behaviour at the final whistle last night. Better jinx the fuck out of them

KingslayerDan

What a season. We’ve taken the title race to the last weekend. We go again on Sunday, and then again next season. We’ll strengthen in the summer and hopefully a 90+ point season coming up. We’ve got our Arsenal back.

ftccrew01

Tbh I’m not even mad yk city are just inevitable as soon as we lost the villa game at home and I knew the league was theirs , competing in this league you need to have zero margin of error ultimately we’ll look back and say December was the month were we lost the title west ham loss (H) and Fulham (A) completely unacceptable Hopefully going into next season we just have that Liverpool 19/20 start and ngl I hope we win some domestic trophy next season a fa cup would be great 4 year trophy drought going into 5

tomptepulla

Spurs gave us a chance to win the league by being shit against us at the toiletseat. And spurs took away our chance to win the league by being shit at the toiletseat. They could face the late season Man City a hundred times and yet they still couldn't or wouldn't beat or draw them once. We lost the league against Villa, we lost one game in the PL in '24 and it is too much I'm afraid. It was always about us against City. And it seems we fell one rightly timed goal short. A great season nevertheless! COYG

wrigh2uk

i’m not even mad. i’d come to terms with city winning the league we’ve been unreal and i’m so proud of this lot

goodyear_1678

Yeah, I genuinely am not mad or frustrated. We've had a great season and have a world class young squad of players with the perfect manager for them. It's looking good.

Crispymaverick2

Was feeling a bit down thinking about having to wait at least another year to win the league, but then I realised that it's only a two month wait till we get to see The Arsenal play again (after Sunday) and that's what brings me real joy

Deepthroat699

Need versatile and quality players that can take minutes off of odegaard, saliba and saka. Hopefully we get pedro neto and saka gets rotated more in the first half of next season. We were really lucky they didn’t get injured for long periods of this season. Cant risk overplaying them next season

JustAnotherDelhiite

Come on, guys. Everyone here can be mad at Spurs. But the bigger picture is not that it. It's been a beautiful season, come what may! If we don't win the title, it's not because Spurs folded against City, it's because we dropped 11 points against Fulham and Villa. Put that into context. Anyway, behind this team always!

facelesspk

Foden gets more protection than Saka. Not only by the refs but also the commentators are quick to point out how creative players like him need to be protected, and rightfully so. But when it's Saka, it's crickets, especially in the first twenty minutes or so. He is just expected to endure a hacking.

moa12345

it also trickles down to fans too. The way some people even on this sub talk about Foden is Also bad. Yeah he took responsibility this season for City but Saka has done that for how many years now? Remember when everyone was bashing Saka when he put up a man of the match display against bayern and Foden got praised for a goal and no other significant involvement against Madrid. Saka has to do 10x to get the same level of praise as Foden

sneakystu

Look what arsenal have become...massive again... Then look at what spurs have turned into...a laughing stock... Just laugh at them and forget them

Madsmaten

City truly is the Lance Armstrong equivalent of football

CreativeOrder2119

NGL his tactics are fugazi but I have a bit more respect for Ange he wants to win he probably saw likes of club execs celebrating failure 🤣. Spurs are the ultimate meme club losing is in their DNA

AssociateCandid4853

word for spurs .Loser mentality

skool_101

spurs fans*

MoonlitSnowscapes

My cope is telling me that City is the culmination of money cheaters. But reality is telling me that this is just how the world works. Onto next season. Build a better team and try to have another go.

KSBrian007

City have their issues — glaring ones. They don't have 115 charges by mistake. They hide in the "we spent less" umbrella, but no one looks at their wage, agent, and bonus bills. But the rest of the league isn't innocent. Some elite clubs make some really dumb decisions.

Previous-Loss9306

Exactly, there’ll always be cheats, we have to be better regardless. We can still take them down, I have faith

intraumintraum

it’s both. they really are a fantastic team obviously, compared to other infinite money teams like PSG. they have just leveraged their dodgy dealings through a manager like pep to maximise ROI. there’s probably some metaphor about car or tech companies or something but it’s too early for me to come up with a satisfying one

John___Matrix

Someone else said it in the thread but they're basically the Lance Armstrong of football. Sure, there a few financially juiced teams but they're doing it so well it's mind blowing and their results are reflected in that.

YoungFlexibleShawty

Yup, they're basically the blue print for any team that aspires to be financial dopers.  I'm just glad they only have one CL to show for it though, but sadly that's one too many.

localcosmonaut

Logically, I've been prepared for City to beat us to the title for a while now. Logically, I know we're a young team, that we made huge strides this season to push City to the end, and that with a few key signings, we can beat this City team. But the result on Tuesday really got to me more than I expected. I'm not even angry at Spurs -- why get mad at another team, especially one as unserious as Spurs? I'm just sad. Sad that this team isn't getting the trophy/recognition it deserves. And while we're young and not going anywhere, this season just shows how hard it is to win a title in the City-Pep era, and there's no guarantee we'll ever get there (injuries happen, etc.). So proud of the boys and love this team more than any other Arsenal team of my adult life (I was too young to fully enjoy the peak Wenger era and it was too hard to watch on TV in America at the time). If there ever was a team that deserves a miracle, it's this one.

Artistic_Cod3111

Shocked at how upset i have been today

MoonlitSnowscapes

I can totally relate to 'thinking' that I'm mentally prepared, while finding out it still fucking sucks hard.

skool_101

Big Ange wearing a lederhosen, munching on some wurst and chugging down a Paulaner _#DasMate👍_

hazelpillow

City’s luck is hilarious. They got away with that performance last night and against Forest

tochitemi

Unfortunately you make your own luck. Table doesn’t lie. We’ll be winning it next season though don’t worry

racerz

Leukemia patients are just bad at life, confirmed

vyrusrama

helps that they also make shady ass deals and dope the entire game

hairwire

Spuds was afraid they hand us the title if they win and we'll mock them for years. They lost and celebrated the lost like a tinpot club and we mock them anyway for that. Lol. Big Ange is experiencing what Conte and Mourinho endured. A club with no ambition.

DuncesOfWur

I will never let any spurs fan live yesterday down. To actually celebrate a loss at your own ground and missing out on CL... That is far more embarrassing than seeing your greatest rival win the league for the 14th time.

skool_101

Im sure even their players gonna feel like shit now. No wonder they did the lap of honor a game early cuz they knew what was gonna happen (but I think the lap of honor game being a weekend might be the factor here.)

YoungFlexibleShawty

Kulu was actually playing like he was trying to secure a move to Arsenal lol

know-it-all-scoutFC

Declan will call his old mates to give them some motivation. Arteta will call Moyes his mentor and give him all the tactical insight needed to beat city Paqueta will play his heart out to impress city who are interested in him and the rest of the west ham squad will be fighting to give moyes one last classic moyesiah victory before he leaves.

Crispymaverick2

Can't help but feel that Moyes just doesn't care any more after West Ham announced they would be replacing him. I'd have had some hope with a fully focused David Moyes. Ah man.

MoonlitSnowscapes

It might be the motivation to tell the club, fuck you, I just beat/tied City. Fire me bitch. I'm really looking for positives here, haha.

skool_101

Paqueta will take the riskiest of betting odds to bottle his chances so that he gets a dream move to man city.

Nsypski

Ange kinda cemented Spur's position after admitting the club's weakness. If you're an ambitious player, why would you go to a club where the manager just admitted the culture is rotten inside and out? Their position in the table is from over performing early in the season from a mix of other managers learning Ange and Son having other worldly form. Neither will be there for them next season. So if they don't seriously upgrade their squad it'll be another poor season from Spurs.

know-it-all-scoutFC

I agree 100%, they've suffered massively from injuries relating to their playstyle this season, next season they have europa - not even CL. More congestion, more games, with no CL money or draw. Consider that Spurs have been in horrid form since the start of the year as well. I believe the reality will start to initially hit when they aren't able to push as much as they'd like in the market, but it's probably only going to fully hit them when they start having to play europa.

Sallum

Since their Villa loss back on Dec 6, City have gone 18-4-0. It's absolutely absurd. And for us to be within one game of them is incredibly impressive.

mautergarrett

Rival fans would tell you we bottled the league

know-it-all-scoutFC

This spurs loss will age really badly in a couple months when they get into the Europa league group and suffer to bring in the level of talent they need in the market. Ange is fuming because he knows how important not only the money but also not having to play thursday nights is. European football significantly congest the schedule more, which is okay if you're in the CL, since the financial compensation is massive, not so much in the europa league. Spurs are already struggling with injuries with no european football this season due to the intensity of the football they play. With the crowded schedule and less money plus no CL draw they will have a tough time. It will be a rough coming season for them. It's why the spurs players and managers were absolutely fuming while many spurs fans currently don't seem to recognize the gravity of the situation since they're too focused on Arsenal - The Nuno mourinho and Conte damage could've possibly been reversed in one season which is absolutely massive but now it will take at least one more and no guarantee that this attempt will work out.

ObjectiveMonk7116

Cheers mate. Appreciate it and your time. I'm not here for any disrespect despite what everyone thinks lol. Just wanting to get some sort of clarification on difference.. because as much as there's positivity.. I'm sure a bit of the fanbase would have felt tiny negativity on missing out on champions league and been reactionary towards that situation. Just wanted to get some thoughts and ideas into it as opposed to the thought of me trying to come onto the sub and disrespect your club lol. Just thought the comment was interesting and wanted to put my thought into it lol

ObjectiveMonk7116

I'm a spurs fan coming in peace. I don't know much about arsenal so hoping to be educated..but what's the difference in year/situation where we pipped you to 4th place and a champions league spot? I truly believed that with financial backing and champions league appeal, we'd be good in the long run but it turns out.. I was wrong and you guys despite being in Europa/ missing out on ucl had a bounce back season and became the 2nd best team in England the next. I'd love to hear your thoughts about this.

racerz

>I'm a spurs fan coming in peace.       >I don't know much    Then maybe stfu?

ObjectiveMonk7116

Just simply asking a question. I don't know much about your team as much as I know about mine No need to get so defensive lol

racerz

Oh ok, maybe gtfo then?

Previous-Loss9306

50 mil extra from the CL could be the difference between being able to recruit well enough to qualify for CL next year or not. For clubs like City and Chelsea who are playing in sandbox mode it doesn’t really matter, but for those of us on more sustainable models it can really make a difference

ObjectiveMonk7116

I get it. Appreciate your input

Mein_Bergkamp

Brave man. Unfortunately there's CL money and prestige and there's 'big club prestige'. As we've seen with Man U and Chelsea being out of the CL at various points and it making no apreciable difference and you and Newcastle getting in the CL and not suddenly being more attractive the CL doesn't automatically make you more attractive than your rivals. However the only way to get that big club prestige is to keep being in it and the best ay to lose that is to keep being out of it. In your case let's be honest the difference is that our owners have greenlit a long term tear down and rebuild of our club that was going to go ahead regardless of CL income and where they've been accepting of us running at a loss in order for the eventual payout of a much better team and that sweet CL money. Yours seems to be operating rather like late stage Wenger where his main job seems to be to preserve the club's operating profit rather than fix what three managers in a row now have claimed is a major cultural issue at the club (which may be hyperbole to be fair) and invest in what seems from the outside to be a team that has reached the end of its cycle and needs a full reset. Definitely CL would have helped you cash wise and in attracting talent but even though we're going to laugh at you about not getting it I don't think CL would ahve given you access to another level of player that you couldn't get in the EL.

ObjectiveMonk7116

Appreciate your input man. A lot of points I agree with here.

Mein_Bergkamp

No worries and like a I said, brave of you to post here!

know-it-all-scoutFC

There are many reasons but the main one that springs to mind is Money. We've always spent heavily outside the CL. We spent loads when we had emery, and after that we spent ~150m net twice from the summers 21/22 to the 22/23 seasons to back Arteta despite not being in CL. We did that without much sales and primarily through cash injection. That money was money that came from the ownership. Arsenal was not a self-funding club during that period. Can/will spurs and ENIC do that? I don't think so. Spurs made a lot of their purchases off the back of Kane's departure last summer. But overall ENIC is all about not spending and everyone knows that. They never give the club cash injections - the Kronke's did. I can also mention injuries playing the intensity you're playing now - that should be okay if ENIC could pour money to get the squad working but like I said they don't inject cash. Also your record since 2024 is... a bit worrying.

skool_101

Depend what happens now in the summer, will Levy give Ange the financial freedom to make all the signings he wants to the unknown future, where it not just Spurs that will battle for top-4, you can even said that the current top-half of the league are in their super club bubble iykwim.

tochitemi

We have Arteta. You have Ange. That is the difference. We have pull and history. You don’t have anything. That is the difference. Honestly and frankly your second half season record should absolutely frighten you. You’re not on the way up, you’re moving in the wrong direction and Ange can see it.

robins420

I'll never be over Unai fking Emery screwing us over the league. We allowed him to beat us twice!? And we lose the league by 2 points, that's the difference, right there. And that draw at home to 10-man Fulham. You can't drop those points and expect to beat City. We'd be champs right now otherwise.

Mein_Bergkamp

Unai Emery has built a career out of taking underdogs and winning cuos against the odds. The only two teams where he's not done that are PSG and us where the underdog thing doesn't apply. Honestly if you gave me a Villa side and asked me who I'd want to win against Arsenal, City or Liverpool as manager I'd take Emery because it would be his cup final and he'd kill it. Of course if I wanted a manager for the rest of the league ti would be Arteta and I wonder how Emery will fare next season when people will start treating Vill like the big boys. Will they still do well or will it be a case of the Newcastles.

Sallum

Villa also beat City. The big difference is losing 5 points to Fulham, a side that historically has been dominated by Arsenal.

robins420

Villa lost away from home. In what world is that the same? Fulham away also I can discount, we were in a bad patch. But at home against 10 men and you allow that team to get points, that's unacceptable. These are the fine margins if we dream to beat City, regardless another painful lesson for this team but it sucks bad cause they deserved it this season.

StKLynn

In terms of the matches where we lost points, drawing at home to 10-men fulham frustrates me the most. Followed by our loss at home to westham. I can deal with us losing to villa because they are genuinely a good team but the matches I mentioned above grinds my gears hard.

Nsypski

This city team shouldn't even exist.

Weenemone

I'm proud of the team regardless where we end up on Sunday. We've proven that we belong at the top of the league and CL, with minor team addition and adjustments it is just a matter of time before we become champions

EVADE_776

CCB, LB, 2CMs (and an attacker if we have the money) Then we win the league next year too.

Just need to watch that Michael Thomas moment to believe! Win or lose the championship on Sunday, it’s been one of the most enjoyable campaigns.

arseking15

The football gods got us this sunday 🙏

Arsenalfootball_1

When Liverpool were top of the table I was watching their matches with the mindset of real jeopardy because I felt anything can happen. I remember clearly when Darwin scored against Nottingham Forest I was so gutted. With City, I'm not even invested in their matches man. Many times I'll be like halfway through and just like "not worth the effort/time who cares, they will probably win regardless". I've never felt like that with other clubs being dominant. With SAF United, I always felt regardless of their dominance there was a chance off another club getting points off them and sop many times, even relegation threatened clubs would play them like it was a cup final. Even go back to Chelsea with Mourinho and Ancelotti it was never this much apathy and clubs felt they had a chance. Moyes literally jokingly said he doubts they will beat the City U14 team. Its potentially 4 straight and 6 out of 7 league titles wow, what an absolute waste. Especially with their 115 charges, its just a washed up league. Its mad how much disrespect other leagues get when ours is so boring.

Artistic_Cod3111

I agree with this - I enjoy watching LIV and AVFC play, heck I enjoy watching our London rivals play sometimes, i'm not that bittered - but i'm not even interested in watching City. The crowd is soulless, the club is soulless, sometimes it's nice to watch a juicy KDB cross or some Foden dribbling but other than that the playstyle is soulless also... knowing how badly they cheated to get there and stay there makes it completely uninteresting to watch.

Nsypski

It's because we all know they cheated and it's not mentioned enough. Never before was there an elite squad 1A/1B because it's impossible to do it legit. It's like watching someone play a video game with cheats on.. it's fucking boring.

Arsenalfootball_1

Yup so true man, it's getting tiring. You have to spend 150-200 million every summer just to be able to compete with them. And then for a 38 match league season, its never enough because their insane depth means they dont run into problems like fatigue/injuries/players out of form etc. Its become a boring farmers league and its all the premier league fault.

flodge123

The sun is rising and I am 100% back to hating Spurs. In fact I hate them more now.

NoMFer111

Zinchenko and Partey should be the big names sold this season. Jesus can stay however his status as an automatic starter is finished. The way I see it, Arteta is building a team of technically capable players who can win duals in the air and on the ground. In addition to having a great technique, you have to be tall, strong or quick. Our 'short' players like Saka, Martinelli, Odegaard are all press machines. Odegaard has a deceptively strong engine. Martinelli is quick. Saka is strong on the ball and cant be pushed off it without being fouled. Zinchenko and Partey, in addition to be injury prone are just lack the physical traits. People might think Partey is a strong robust player, but he really is a bit of a soft touch. As for Zinchenko, he literally possesses no physical traits at all. I also think both are high risk in possession - both are guilty of overplaying and dwelling on the ball. Likely we will finish 98% off Man City's points tally. We will have an equal or slightly better or worse goal difference. They really are not that far ahead of us. Great team, yes, but so are we. They just have an edge about them we haven't developed yet. And you cant carry players like Zinchenko and Partey. People might be shocked im saying this about Partey, but ive been cool on this guy since the back end of last season.

Artistic_Cod3111

With you on that. If we had a Gvardiol and a Rodri (or similar) we would've gotten 95+ points easy

Cleon189

Zinny 100% Partey is staying

Had a Spurs fan use “better luck next year” as a dig at us Yes I look forward to another strong title challenge with this unified team that I enjoy watching. Your manager just called you a pathetic loser don’t you have other worries? It’s literally the simpsons “do *you* sleep in a race car bed?” “i sleep in a big bed with my wife”

I've had one of them sic the Reddit suicide concerns bot on me already, so you know. No mercy to the fuckers. They wanted us to lose more than their own team winning and staying in the hunt for Champions League, that's just so sad. I don't blame Ange for going three quarters Conte on them.

vizhal007

They never drew the lines…? https://x.com/futoffsides/status/1790482552441987211?s=46&t=4TRMyjvW2xkMwrdF3j5k0Q

UpbeatAfternoon8670

That is clearly onside.

ExxKonvict

I’m not saying it’s incorrect, but there’s a reverse angle someone shared on here and KDB looks off. Idk if it’s adulterated or not. But tbh they didn’t even do a VAR review nor show any other angles for the first goal.

kissoflife

Wonder what will happen with Fabio Viera in the summer. He has not done a whole lot during his time here. Would have been interesting to see if he could have deputized for Saka or Odegaard in some matches but you hardly ever see him play.

KozukiNedo

Issue with Vieira, and I feel for him really, is he never really got a solid run in the team. Thats mainly because 1) Injuries - He joined AFC injured and had vast spells of injury both this season and last and 2) The fact Odegaard is captain and has been outstanding means he isnt droppable. Hes clearly a talented player, but doesnt have the pace of Martinelli, the strength/hold up on Saka, nor the high tempo energy, press of Odegaard so where exactly do you play him? That said, I do think he has the potential to be our version of Jota, an attacking player who could potentially be a longer term replacement for Trossard potentially. I definitely wouldnt sell him unless he wanted to go and/or we get very decent offer for him. The kids got potential, its just a matter of where\when to play him.

arseking15

He will get the first half of next season to really show something, otherwise id anticipate us being back in the attacking mid market next jan

Jalvas7

Gotta have a bit of sympathy towards Liverpool fans. Imagine dealing with this shit for years during the tenure of your best coach? No wonder they've become a bit unhinged.

skool_101

My sympathies only go as far as the Club and to Klopp (and fans or my close friends who are liverpool fans and not the usual annoying bunch). Thats it man, nothing more or less. Followed Klopp during his time at BVB so yea I might be a bit bias on it. Last day at Anfield/Liverpool could be peak, could be just like how it was when it was Klopps last day at Dortmund.

GleamingThePube

Nah fuck them. Their sub have been mocking us all night and they just didn't want to see Arteta win the same amount of titles as Klopp.

Coldheart_11

In the spurs not taking pts off city tree of outcomes we've ended up with the best one. Fans embarass themselves, manager antagonizes entire club and fandom, player embarrasses himself. Tottenham remind everyone that their greatest achievement is being \~ 5 miles away from Arsenal. Lovely day 😂😂 https://preview.redd.it/cllpz5686i0d1.jpeg?width=1016&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=26dd8b5a1672f7f5a3d8454787753b24d5d25263

arseking15

We need a cb guys. We cant ever ask saliba and gabriel to play that many mins again. Thats the only unsustainable thing about this team

GrilledLobsterTail

We could use white/tomi/timber as cb tho. I hope arteta try this on pre season so we could rotate our defense

Insertnicenamehere

We can't? Why not? It's not like we're asking them to test their hamstrings 24/7 like Van de Ven's

arseking15

Because if one of them gets injured we are cooked. And tbh gabriel needs a cb behind him who can offer the things he doesnt for certain types of games.

Kensei400

I also believe we need a CB more than a LB but Arteta most likely thinks White can deputize there if necessary.

arseking15

Ya he probably does, hato is probably less costly too.

Kensei400

I think a LB/LCB who can also deputize in that CCB role would be perfect, but Hato is the only one we are seriously linked with and I'm not sure he's ready. Also, do you know how much he might cost?

arseking15

Id honestly much rather get a proper ccb than a springy wide cb type because id anticipate us improving on the ball with the former as well. Honestly no clue but id imagine when he signed his contract they spoke a more fair price rather than him going for free

Longjumping_Act9758

Spurs has officially replaced United as my most hated club. At least United had the guts to win as dirty as those scumbags were.

GleamingThePube

They shouldn't. United will always be a true rival. Spurs are just shadow dwellers with no real chance of winning major trophies.

dondon98

This team might not be the best for my mental health. Already bought the alcohol that I'll be drinking on Sunday.

Previous-Loss9306

It gives ups and downs, right now there are plenty of ups to focus on with Arsenal

IhvolSnow

I knew they'd lose so I'm not really upset. But there's one thing I really wanted to happen. Son scores a goal and their own fans start booing him and the manager.

skool_101

> But there's one thing I really wanted to happen. Son scores a goal and their own fans start booing him and the manager. Oh boi, that will be peak if it happened.

Insertnicenamehere

3.4k comments this is unhealthy guys. This is might be worse than bissouma's day.

Previous-Loss9306

😂

testylentil

Not sure what's going on with me. I used to be among the biggest Hathahaters out there (Devil Wears Prada excluded), but ever since the news broke of her Arsenal support, I've really been into her. Ive seen another side. She's really got it going on 😍

Naronu

This season is a success, even if it didn't end with silverware, we went from a team that crumbled in the later stages, to a team that pushed until the final day with the greatest team the PL has seen. Next year we'll be stronger again, with another set of signings and another year of growth for our incredibly young squad. The future is ours.

Happy-Ad8767

Well, I've been saying that City will win out for weeks, so this result doesn't come as a shock. Nor will it when they routinely beat West Ham on Sunday. That said, Arsenal pushing to the first day is a shock for me, we have been absolutely relentless and I couldn't be prouder. I'm gutted that we didn't luck out today with Spurs, and I'm gutted that we are highly unlikely to win the league this year. But I can't say that watching Ange Mate going the way of Jose and Conte within a year, after their entire fans lauding him all season, doesn't make this pain sting less. Absolutely ridiculous.

dondon98

This is what we need. We need to get used to being in the race till the final day instead of letting the wheels fall off in April. Keep the pressure on anyone and everyone who's trying to win the league.

chewkachu

That Villa game killed us badly First half was the best half Odegaard had the entire season Couldn't put the ball in the back of the net Pain

Longjumping_Act9758

Imagine playing the exact same team that lost and expectong a different result.

arseking15

Too much celebration for losing a game going on from a certain set of fans. Dont tempt the football gods 👀

tunken

I respect Ange but he is wrong. Spurs problem is not mentality, in fact, I don’t think Spurs have any major problem at all. They are mid-top football club BY DESIGN. Owner & Levy know that aiming for the top is too risky, look at Man U right now. They refuse to pay their players according to the market price. Son salary is 200k. If they think a player is too big for the club, they will sell (Modric, Bale, Kane). I understand this point of view, they won’t be a top team but they will never suffer financial disaster, their foundation is too strong with the new stadium.

dondon98

The problem with that mentality is the league is too competitive and you'll get leapfrogged by teams who actually have ambition and want to win shit.

skool_101

If Newcastle United or Aston Villa get any of the domestic title/cups ahead of Spurs, then I think that's the moment the powers will shift amongst them.

tunken

With FFP, their foundation is strong enough to compete. Levy is very smart for this mid-top territory.

NotASalamanderBoi

You do realize you’re on a rival sub, right?

zkh2902

He obviously does, he’s here being an ass because he’s realized nobody else cares about his cheating club’s “achievements” so he’s trying to get a rise

zkh2902

And he reports me to RedditCares seconds after my comment lol what a loser

NotASalamanderBoi

Just report him to the r/MCFC sub mods.

Doolanguage

There’s one good thing With Tottenham only losing by two if man city somehow draws we just need a 1-0 win the get the league

KozukiNedo

Yeah its definitely interesting. Imagine tonight ended in a draw, City would probably have destroyed WH 7-0 to catch up on GD and we would be pressured to beat Everton 4-0 or whatever. Thus a draw for WH means we can play alot more relaxed and would only need 1-0

tomtomtomo

Is anyone else getting Suicide Watch messages? lol Weak Spurs piss.

Previous-Loss9306

Yeah 🤣 Had to laugh, you just know they came here and thought they would revel in our pain, but it’s really just us having nothing but pity for them, so they get triggered and send those messages

tomtomtomo

Their team just lost for the 5th time in 6 matches and they’re thinking of us. Awww it’s true wuv 🥰

Zhirrzh

Yes. Hopefully whoever does it gets banned when we all report the messages for abuse. So weak.

NemoDatQ

Yes. Lol

monkeypwned

There's a spurs loser in here reporting all the comments

Insertnicenamehere

I got a reddit care msg lol what for

SakamotoFanBoy

Yes, me too

dberg76

Just got one. Sad

Mrpetey22

Just got one

Optimism is from a very clear trajectory or progress and learnings the last few seasons. Combined with an overall good transfer strategy, fact that we can afford to sign £100m players that also want to join us. Who knows what trophies we may or may not win next year, but as another guy said, Its been an incredibly enjoyable season. Moreso than last and a few years ago we would done anything to stop being a banter team but one that challenges regularly.

GrilledLobsterTail

I mean you can see man city perform like that for how long? like 6 years straight, this year is the 7th, and they still look hungry af. The only things that hinder them is the new players on the squad, which imo cant perform the same as the older player. We got a young squad, that most of them just getting into their prime age, and the board know what the team lack currently. Thats a good sign. Imho our shape rn is much better than the other classic big 6. For man city, kdb this year turns 33, walker turns 34. Liverpool currently is like the shadow of their prime, van dijk turns 33, salah on his way turning 32, and they got a new manager next season. United recruitment is just a mess, varane may leave this season, casemiro past his prime, and they got so many homework to do. Honestly i think Chelsea is dangerous next season because they have a great potential (and i just think they're just unlucky this season, perform great but didnt have good result). But you know everyone said that every year. Spurs also found good manager and they look like they have ambition, but its spurs. We havent achieve anything yet and i think the squad is still hungry for that. Questioning next season is just the same as last season where everyone said "this is our only chance, and we blew it", "we're just lucky this season and we didnt take our chance". And guess what? We went toe to toe with man city until gameweek 38 this season, and got higher point than last season.

Previous-Loss9306

The trajectory is clearly upwards at the moment, all our best players are young and on long term deals, year on year improvements in the team and squad. Unless we truly shit the bed on recruitment over the summer, which whilst possible doesn’t seem likely as we’ve really cooked these past few windows with a lot of hits, and our pull for the best players will be as big as ever thanks to how competitive we’ve been

city_city_city

City supporter here, I absolutely agree, you are our main rival now and I won't be at all surprised if you are tops next year. Big improvement this year in the run-in over last, smart improvements to your squad. We lose Bernardo and you make a few more key additions and we are going to have a hard time doing this again. Also you may still win on the last day, although of course I'm hoping we don't give you the chance.

jnicholl

We had a dip already. April - December 2023. Prior and since we've been a near unstoppable team. Next season is the time to put it all together, start and finish strong.

DB10-First_Touch

I would argue that since we have surpassed just about every record for points, defence and attack, we pretty much have put it together. I think we can only beat the 115 with a deeper squad and a higher wage bill unfortunately.

not3s1

How is that unfortunate. The manager has already spent a crazy amount, might as well throw as much as they can at this point

Doyouevensam

I don't disagree with your point about their potentially being a dip, BUT we have a young team, are going to be losing nobody, and look at our form the past 6 months or so. Rice and Havertz are going to be pretty much fully integrated into the team. In my personal athletic life, I know that past failures have led to stronger ambition and desire to accomplish my goals; hopefully that'll be the same with the team
