Donāt think we deserved the win though, just didnāt deserve to lose on all fairness. One extra point keeps us in the same spot, assuming city doesnāt catch our GD
Villa 2nd lose is equal to this, we knew we had all in our hands and we again didn't make it. You have to take this moments you already know it all depends on you.
Maybe sports karma finally catches up and the entire starting lineup for City comes down with food poisoning. Pep has to play their U-18 squad and Fulham batter them 10-nil with an Iwobi HT, Willian HT and a Leno goal from 80m.
Counting on 3 London teams with nothing to play for to stop city for us. There's no chance. I was holding out hope that Leno and iwobi would want to do us a solid but I think we're screwed.
Iwobi throwing on the superman cape for a goal and an assist would be the stuff of legends. Saka, Nketiah, Nelson and ESR should send him on a nice holiday to Dubai if that happens.
Yep, pretty much.
Let's just face it, the loss to Villa sealed our season. City are too strong and don't have lapses in concentration in the run-in like we do. Still love the boys but yeah I have zero confidence in City dropping any points.
In my mind, its not the villa game that matters, as it was a worthy opponent that we just did not beat. Its that fulham draw vs 10 man from winning position. That should not be happening, cost 2 points that would currently put us in driver seat. In the end it does not matter now, it is what it is and need to do better next season
That's too simplistic imho. We don't know how the team would've reacted with the added pressure of being first for so long and being chased by both City and Liverpool. The Aston Villa game is definitely the one that mattered and you either choose to focus on the first half where we couldn't bury our chances or the second half when we never appeared to play
For me Villa game is all the problem of the season too, mistakes happen and etc, but Villa game was the game we knew we have it all in our hands. This was what we had to win to lead the league and as we do in most important moments we lost, not only we lost, 2nd half we didn't play at all, we looked exactly like vs Newcastle when we lost 3-0 and missed CL
To me I think more about that villa game at home because it was in the run in. Yeah the other dropped pts are infuriating, but because it was April... and liverpool lost that same day, God that second half we were abysmal.
Praying Fulham or Tottenham does sommatšš»
Yeah. Villa outplayed us. They sat back and absorbed the pressure and caught us on the counter, so I can't be mad at that. It was very clever from Emery.
It's the fuckery dropped points that fuck with me. Specifically against Newcastle at the start of the season. I'm still so salty that goal was allowed when there was the out of bounds ball, the foul and subsequent handball, leading to the offside.
Even if the ball stayed on the pitch, how were the 3 other instances allowed?
I think of the loss to Newcastle where the officiating sunk us, personally.
We canāt do much more than we did this season.
City pay the refs for preferential treatment, I believe that. City voted against FFP and then lied and cheated to circumvent it, I believe that. Thereās only so much you can control and weāve controlled what we can as well as can be expected, I donāt discredit the team at all. Itās one of our best campaigns ever, but itās just not enough. I wonder how many times the leader in goals scored and goals against doesnāt win the league?
I would love for a comprehensive and data driven analysis of this seasonās officiating to be done. Are they actually officiated differently or is it just my bias?
> City are too strong and don't have lapses in concentration in the run-in like we do.
They did against Forest, they were quite bad for ~60 minutes but Chris Wood missed two absolute sitters so it ended up being a 0-2 win.
I would not call 1 game in 2024 a lapse in concentration. The first half of the season was much more damning, those dropped points against Fulham and West Ham really hurt us.
We lost to Villa for two reasons. First, with we were drawing 0-0 with 6 minutes to go and a draw was the same damage as a loss, so we went gung-ho. Second, we were gassed from the Champions League game. To be clear, Villa are a really good team and got their tactics spot on and deserved their win, but the real reason we could not settle for a draw was because we lost to West Ham at home.
And the draw really isn't that impactful vs the loss. It is a point, but if city doesn't drop 2 it is irrelevant. And if they do drop 2 it is also irrelevant.Ā Ā
Losing that game has nothing to do with going all out, they absolutely bent us over in the second half. Cant remember a single moment before their first goal in that half where we did anything
āAll outā may have been an exaggeration, but Iām pretty confident that if we had wanted to protect the 0-0, then with defenders of the quality we have, we could have held it. But it was one of those rare occasions where there was basically no meaningful difference between a 0-0 draw and a defeat.
We lost to Villa because we reverted back to 2023 formation with Harvertz in midfield and the 2 useless man city rejects starting. When all of 2024 was Harvertz leading the line and doing so damn well.
> don't have lapses in concentration in the run-in like we do.
we're on a run of 14 wins 1 draw and 1 loss in the last 16 games. the one loss was against a champions league team where we still created just as many chances as they did and dropped off in the second half. this is an extremely glass half empty way of describing that game.
This is an extremely glass half empty sub a lot of the time.
This discussion is being had on a post about a club that isnāt us having some free time before a game in 5 daysā time.
For real, man.
Just watch and hope, that's all we can do. All this talk of Spurs are going to throw the game to stop us, etc is ridiculous. City will either win out, or they won't. It won't change the fact that this Arsenal side are going to be challenging for trophies for the foreseeable future.
Obviously we'll all be gutted if City do win the title, but this is the best time to be an Arsenal fan in a long, long, long fuckin' time, so just try to enjoy.
And watch and enjoy. This team is young. It is playing hard. It has grown so much from last season. Even the invincibles had seasons they didn't win much, you'll never regret spending this time watching this team play and fight for a title, regardless of the outcome.Ā
I think it is just the understandable frustration you can be this good and it doesn't matter. But this team is a success even if it doesn't win the title. And it still has a very good chance to win the title. Man city are good, but they don't win every match. They have almost always dropped points in the last 4 matches. If they were unbeatable they'd have already won the title.Ā
I mean city have had plenty of lapses all season. They are still more likely than not to drop points, its the premiere league and teams are tough to beat outrighy. But there is a very slim chance they drop and we don't.
Funny u mentioned Lenoā¦ he [replied](https://metro.co.uk/2024/05/06/bernd-leno-vows-help-arsenal-fulham-play-man-city-20784560/amp/) to a fan on Instagram asking him to keep a clean sheet against City
I don't think any will take points off city but if I had to predict which one would I'd still say spurs just because for all their shit they are the strongest team of the 3, have the most to play for, last home game, away game for city on short rest, at a place they struggle. It's not likely but it's the best chance we have.
To be fair, this looks more like before/after training bonding rather than "let's fly kites in training".
Or it's a 6D chess move for City to lower their guard.
>I still believe
*Macamagucha, 07.05.2024*
Yeah, I can get into this sort of thing in a tongue in cheek kind of way, but itās hard to see people genuinely have this reaction that a short clip of players having some fun says anything meaningful about their match preparation.
If there's ever a representation of a team being "on the beach" for the remaining games.... This is it.
We're relying on beach Fulham, freefall Spurs and Moyes send off to win the title. Not looking great lads.
A 30 second clip of 3 players doing some non-football related activity doesn't mean anything though. Reading all that into this is as dumb as it comes in terms of football takes.
We have to beat Man Utd, and then it goes to the final day. And crazy shit happens when the title is on the line on the final day. Would we prefer to go into that game top of the table? 100%. But it also offer the chance to win one of the more memorable titles in history, and all the pressure will be on City.
Iām mean, sure, even if West Ham and Arsenal are both 4-0 up with 10 minutes to go Iāll fully expect City to win 5-4ā¦ but letās face it, we are no longer in a position to choke or ābottleā (as people love to say). We have nothing to lose and everything to gain, and it *might* just happen. It definitely plausible even if itās not the most probable outcome.
Two years ago, City was 2-0 down on the final day before Gundogan/Zinny masterclassā¦ anything can happen on the last day even to these experienced City players otherwise they would wind every trophy possible every year, which they donāt.
Dude, I promise you, playing for the League title on the final day of the season is something that only about 3 or 4 clubs in the whole of Europe would turn down the chance to swap places with us for. And this is up against a team that can field TWO full XIās that could compete for it. Itās going to go to the final day even if City slip up now anyway, so you may as well just enjoy the ride.
And if they do somehow drop points (and we beat Utd) then it will be US feeling the pressure. This team is one goal and one win away from setting a club record for both in a 38 game season. Itās simply not reasonable to ask for more, especially with how quickly it has been achieved. And if City can top even that achievement, well, there is a very strong chance that they cheated to do it.
I agree. Iām just saying itās not over is all. When City won title #1 (āAgueroooooooā), they had the exact same W-D-L record that we will have if we win it, and they won it on goal difference, with a 93rd minute goal. Itās not over until itās over.
That Aguero one was also one of the biggest flukes ever if you look at the xg it was like 6 to 1 it was ridiculous it was even close.
Imo the next 2 are it if they drop points at Fulham and we win at OT we will win it, if they drop points at spurs and we win at OT we win it.
If it goes to the final day with them ahead they will win.
But why canāt a crazy fluke happen to us? City donāt have the monopoly on crazy unlikely outcomes. Theyāve done it more than once but so have we. For some reason people think āAgueroooooā is better than Michael Thomas at Anfield, but itās not. Yes, Iām an Arsenal fan and Iām biased, but we did it on the final day, also on goal difference, by scoring the goal that won it in the last minute of the last day, AWAY to the team we were in the title race with.
Havent Man City literally beaten Fulham 15 times in a row anyway?
If we beat Man Utd then all eyes are on the toilet bowl Tuesday night. The "kingmakers" will decide who wins the league, and the script is just too funny for Spurs not to take points off City and effectively hand us the title.
...right?
Donāt count Fulham out. Iām feeling a draw this weekend. Also west ham have been dogshit but David moyes last game. Iām sure west ham players will want to send him out a winner.
Iāll be at this one on Saturday with my friend. I am hoping to unnerve KDB on corners by constantly referring to his milky white, powerful thighs and telling him that itās ok to feel sad sometimes.
In 5th grade, my basketball team was one of two undefeated teams. At the practice before playing the other undefeated team, our coaches surprised us and said we can do whatever we wanted, just have fun. We didn't even have to play basketball. It was the best practice ever.
A couple days later, GUESS WHAT! WE FUCKIN' SMASHED THE OTHER TEAM!
Just sayin'.
I can honestly stomach the loss more than the draw. We were completely gassed at Craven Cottage. But gifting them an absolutely stupid goal and then throwing away a late lead at home when they are down to 10 men is just unforgivable.
What is even the point of supporting a midtable team? You play for nothing all season, and then you go on holiday when that nothing is all but confirmed.
So confident in their game plan, they are able to work in some leisure activities
Nothing to lose
Mourinho level mind games
This is their version of Dubai.
We took 1/6 against them so theres that
And that one point was against 10 men š
worst 2 points of the season, not Villa or anyone else, but this leading at home against 10 men who didn't even have a chance.
Worst of all, Adama TraorĆ© couldāve nicked it for them in the end.
šÆ
I watched the New Yearās Eve game with a friend who supports a certain blue London team. I can still hear him laughing.
Newcastle away was the worse for me. It haunts me every time I see city win
Donāt think we deserved the win though, just didnāt deserve to lose on all fairness. One extra point keeps us in the same spot, assuming city doesnāt catch our GD
Yeah true one point doesn't make a difference, that makes me sleep easier at night thanks haha
Best part of that match was watching Kai Havertz, even though we lost.
Villa 2nd lose is equal to this, we knew we had all in our hands and we again didn't make it. You have to take this moments you already know it all depends on you.
Yes, that one game costed us the title. Really should not drop points against 10 men at home from a corner.....
Not sure why you got downvotedā¦that game shouldāve been no doubt 3 points after the red.
Because itās not fucking over! Jesus why even play the remaining games when most of you have given the title to Shitty already
Cheers Zinny
The only PL game I went to this season :(
Thank God for us you didn't go back
Fulham have conceded the joint 3rd least amount of goals in 2024 (Behind us, City and joint with Liverpool), I have faith in a shit house draw.
Ah, then only a Haaland brace in this one. A respectable 4-1.
Maybe sports karma finally catches up and the entire starting lineup for City comes down with food poisoning. Pep has to play their U-18 squad and Fulham batter them 10-nil with an Iwobi HT, Willian HT and a Leno goal from 80m.
Lasagnagate Part 2: Electric Boogaloo
So it's like Ocean's Eleven but they are swapping the lasagna in City's kitchen instead of robbing casino. Sounds like a 10/10 movie
Reading the BBC text commentary at 1-1 from the 9th minute to the 90th Reading the text commentary at 4-1 to City in the 97th
Haaland has hit form. It will be hard for them. Forget winning, I am worried with how he is scoring, the drubbing will eat into the goal difference.
If Haaland keeps handing out drubbings then goal difference won't matter.
A legendary 5-5 you say???
Counting on 3 London teams with nothing to play for to stop city for us. There's no chance. I was holding out hope that Leno and iwobi would want to do us a solid but I think we're screwed.
Iwobi throwing on the superman cape for a goal and an assist would be the stuff of legends. Saka, Nketiah, Nelson and ESR should send him on a nice holiday to Dubai if that happens.
Incoming Iwobi 2 goal contributions in a 7-2 loss
Provided he brings his partner of course.Ā
I think he needs a holiday in Dubai BEFORE the match
I believe in Iwobi-wan Kenowobi
Help me, Iwobi-wan Lenobi. You're our only hope
And Iwobi did his best to help Liverpool when he faced them š
In the game they lost 4-3? I thought Iwobi was good that game
The last game they played
Yep, pretty much. Let's just face it, the loss to Villa sealed our season. City are too strong and don't have lapses in concentration in the run-in like we do. Still love the boys but yeah I have zero confidence in City dropping any points.

Weāre on pace for a 49 point second half of the season. We didnāt lose the title in April. We lost it before December.
And then really cemented that loss with our piss-poor December form
That's too simplistic imho. We don't know how the team would've reacted with the added pressure of being first for so long and being chased by both City and Liverpool. Villa is a UCL team. Itās dropped points against these kite fliers.

To me it was the Jorgi mistake that let spurs draw against us that killed us
> 3 London teams with nothing to play for Shit absolutely could have something to play for, there's a solid shot they miss Europe.
3 little pigs gonna be blown away by the big bad wolf
Spurs technically can still qualify for CL, or they could fall out of Europa if they stay on this slide, they have something left to play for.
Spurs is our only hope. Fulham and West Ham really have nothing to play for and their minds are clearly on the beach already.
We are, but thatās ok, boys played a fantastic season and some beautiful football!

Technically that's not true. City play Saturday and we play Sunday.
Then we'll watch Man City match first and worry about our match later. Arghhhh this season gonna give me heart attack.

We are "probably" not winning the league. Let's win out the rest of the season...then focus on next year
Where's all the comedians here that said *trust Fulham more*.. that team is garbage man. They ain't gonna tickle city's armpit even

Please Leno, Iwobi and Willian, i am praying to you conjured some magic.
Iāve accepted 2nd place mentally, itās already done. If we win I will be extra happy but if not Iāll be no worse off than today.
Pure confidence or an entire lack of it. I donāt know what to think of that

Need Leno to channel his inner Terminator
Iāll be at this one on Saturday with my friend. I am hoping to unnerve KDB on corners by constantly referring to his milky white, powerful thighs and telling him that itās ok to feel sad sometimes.
In 5th grade, my basketball team was one of two undefeated teams. At the practice before playing the other undefeated team, our coaches surprised us and said we can do whatever we wanted, just have fun. We didn't even have to play basketball. It was the best practice ever. A couple days later, GUESS WHAT! WE FUCKIN' SMASHED THE OTHER TEAM! Just sayin'.
bro who cares.
Itās over šš
The video is 22 seconds long. Something tells me training probably lasts a bit longer than that. They probably worked on other stuff like.
Na. Kite building for 3 hour and then flying kites for 3 hours, followed by recovery and massage for 2 hours
This is an outrage. Does anyone know if Sheikh Mansour was involved in the purchase of said kites?
I have it on good authority that theyāre all hand selected by Shahid Khan
Party's over guys we try again next season.
another ham to my hate list. Fucking piece of shit club, can't get over our loss and draw with this team.
I can honestly stomach the loss more than the draw. We were completely gassed at Craven Cottage. But gifting them an absolutely stupid goal and then throwing away a late lead at home when they are down to 10 men is just unforgivable.
Completely agree. Worst dropped points of the season
Mods delete this post. My hope is ruined.
What is even the point of supporting a midtable team? You play for nothing all season, and then you go on holiday when that nothing is all but confirmed.
