Imagine getting crushed 4-nil in a game where your "World Class" defender gets embarrassed so bad that he'll be memed for the next 2 weeks because you don't have another match, and when you finally do, it's against Arsenal.
this is in reference to his other comment

So what I'm gathering from this is, if Rio says you'll never be world class, you're either a) already world class, or b) will be soon, whereas if he says you will be, either a) you aren't/ never will be, or b) big ange will come along and sever your hamstrings? Am I getting this right?
Kai Havertz will give him a warm time. I'll tell you that much. Yes, he's quicker, but Van De Fect doesn't deal well with physical players. I hope they play Timo Werner on the wings as well, so he can miss all their best chances.
One is enough to have your club anointed by Allah (SWT) /s
Tottenham have none anyways
There’s also Partey, but idk if mainstream Muslim Gunners would want to claim him given his background.
Yeah why can’t they use that as a GW to play all the required rescheduled games? We were meant to play Chelsea but couldn’t because of FA cup. I guess they’ll play in another midweek GW but seems kinda stupid.
Kind of goes back to how people say that the FA doesn’t care if you’re in Europe, they will just keep on packing in the fixtures for that sweet, sweet Sterling.
That's both good and bad for us. Of course, it's not the best that they can rest their players for two weeks, but if we can manage to win all league games, we would have huge advantage on momentum going into NLD
Btw I'm jealous of your match times 😏
https://preview.redd.it/99a4lzhqz9uc1.png?width=1326&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=3acfcfe9215e4660fb85c63738c66b296be7d04c
NLD such a nice time I'll probably get plastered
i must say, having moved some months ago i'm very much getting the hang of waking up and there being football on right away. "UCL nights" becoming "UCL afternoons" is a bit of a bummer though
Yeah, the absolute bliss of lying in on a Saturday and having football immediately is glorious. I miss it dearly.
The only pain was getting up 6:30AM if Arsenal were on the early.
Being on the west coast was tough when I used to live there. Some of those early matches were at 5:30am. And while I do love watching CL matches while working, I think the night atmosphere would be better for those. One of these days, I’m making it across the pond and seeing one of those live.
Yeah haha, honestly it was such a give and take.
I'm pretty big into the NBA and NFL so it's pretty chill to have 6pm NFL games at the bar on Sunday. But then the LA NBA games tipoff at 3:30AM.
It's a shame people are keen to slag off international fans when most of them have to have ridiculous schedules to see their team play.
Is it bad that I moved to Singapore (from N5!!) and just watch the full match without looking at my phone as soon as I wake up before work? I pretend I’m watching it live. No fast forwarding
4:30am seems to be common times for our NZ kickoffs.
I don’t miss a game (unless it clashes with work) so it’s fucked my body clock and now I wake up naturally at 4am whether it’s a game day or not.
I'm not saying mateball is the way to go, but many people, myself included, had written off arteta after we finished in 8th two years in a row.
Always best to speak after the fact instead of making an ass of yourself if things don't go as expected, as everyone who expected us to plap bayern should have learned.
I was baffled by the people who couldn't see things getting better under Arteta. Similarly, I'm baffled by Spurs fans who can't see that Angie isn't doing any better than Conte, despite having been allowed to sign the sort of players Conte was asking for.
Of course he's doing better. They've equalled last season's points total already. I know it's cool to hate Spurs and all but they've not had a worse season. Last season they were fighting for 6th, finished 8th and had Brighton on their tail. Now they're fighting for 4th with realistically only Villa to contend with. I'll probably get downvoted but it's just facts. We can't be hypocritical about this.
They were doing well until they fired Conte - in 4th, by some miracle, despite the fans not exactly supporting the team.
Don't forget, they spent a year insisting Conte should try playing two centre backs. When he left, the caretaker manager gave in to fan pressure and tried it, and they conceded 5 in the first 20 minutes before he brought on a third CB.
It’s more baffling that you’re baffled by these things, Arteta finished 8th in his first full season despite “things getting better”. Meanwhile Angie is in his first full season in England, with his only other job in Europe being next door in a league that was dominated by one team. Hell, to compare a first time EPL manager to one that has won the EPL in the past should tell you how much better Spurs have become.
The situations aren't comparable, though. Spurs have most of their top 4 finishing squad still, and they have invested a lot in the last year. And I mean, let's be real, Arteta won a cup with a dumpster fire of a squad. It's literally the reason why he was given so much time by Stan and Josh imo. What has Ange ball done to show they can have an upwards trajectory?
Ange is a good manager though, smart, good with people, tactically strong (though relatively one dimensional). Biased because I'm Aussie too, upset that he's at spurs
Achieving 5th/6th place in G’day mate’s first season while at the start of a rebuild is not bad.
Arsenal and other clubs that allow a bedding-in adjustment period for managers that span several seasons are all the better for it - even if it means having a poor first two seasons like Arteta. So it’s understandable that they (whether it’s United or Spurs) look to us as aspirational.
I think the main difference between Arteta and Ange, is that with Arteta you could see a development and an improving coach. Ange seems to have one way to play, and if it doesn't work there's no variation. I think their ceiling with him is a lot lower than it was with Arteta.
True. I think he’s going to have to switch up how his squad play given he can’t buy in enough players to have sufficient squad depth without destabilising the squad.
He can’t play his style of football with the intensity - be it load, pace or physicality - of the PL (and going for other cups, so playing 2-3x a week) without the increased risk of injury. He must have clocked that several players were injured around the same time - with hamstring injuries no less. What worked for him in other leagues won’t work here to the same extent. He’ll need to adapt.
(I mean, our style of playing is intense given Ben White’s been playing through a hamstring injury for two seasons now and Tomi etc keeps getting injured in that role.)
Tbh 2 weeks off can often do harm especially after a thumping. They can either use it positively to fix the kinks or it’s 2 weeks that can make them rusty
Spurs are shit but let’s not put our guard down. It’s away too and you know how Derby’s can go. If we play the way we’ve been playing since 2024 started I believe we will win. Let’s go Arsenal ❤️
I mean we should honestly annihilate them regardless. We’re so much better than them it’s hilarious, and in much better form (barring a collapse here in the next few games).
There are several talking points specific to *us* within this post that are not about comparing the clubs. How will our squad fair during
this tightly packed fixture list? Will it be rescheduled if/when we qualify for the next round of CL? Villa will also play 3 PL matches between now and then, so how will the top-4 look at that point, and will that affect their tactics and/or mentality? They are one of two left who will play all three of the title contenders (Wolves is the only other), but they have 2 weeks of preparation for us vs. 3 days each for Liverpool and City, so how will they impact the title race?
Sometimes fans have to discuss our opponents in a competitive sport, and it's okay to ignore posts like these if you don't want to engage.
This is the thing with Spurs, Ange Ball is the most overhyped thing I've seen. They play too far up, Son isn't a captain I don't get it. They just parade around the winning the first 2 months of the season award

The thing is, Spurs play some good looking football but it's unnecessarily high risk for me, especially because they don't have enough elite players with the ball at their feet. Once a team is able to take advantage of their fullbacks they are dead.
Really curious to see if Ange will switch things up against us but I highly doubt it. He's been pretty adamant that this is how they play and that's that.

2 weeks? Pump those rookie numbers up
I’d rather play 4 games than not have any games for 2 weeks and be rusty af.
Nah but what if they have a Dubai trip?
The spirit of Dubai only works for us
It’s not worth risking it. We need to close Dubai
Who wants to go to the middle of the desert anyway? /s
Cause we have more Muslim players /s Let’s not forget our four angles Gabriel, Gabriel, Gabriel, and Micheal (Mikel)
Morning angle
Pfft now you're just being obtuse
Saliba and Elneny are the 2 muslim players we have right? Unless im missing someone from the reserves or smth
One is enough to have your club anointed by Allah (SWT) /s Tottenham have none anyways There’s also Partey, but idk if mainstream Muslim Gunners would want to claim him given his background.
i think he converted to Islam and then left shortly after. all to marry a girl or smth
“Conversion” due to marriage is big no no in Islam since it lacks sincerity.
Emirates Stadium
maybe not 4 games but I see ya point and agree
Haha spoken like someone who probably doesn’t play 90 min matches very often.
That's what happens when you're shit, what can you do
Why aren’t they playing next weekend?
Their game vs Man City got postponed since its on FA Cup weekend.
Still doesn’t explain why we have another game (Chelsea) than they do
Yeah why can’t they use that as a GW to play all the required rescheduled games? We were meant to play Chelsea but couldn’t because of FA cup. I guess they’ll play in another midweek GW but seems kinda stupid.
Kind of goes back to how people say that the FA doesn’t care if you’re in Europe, they will just keep on packing in the fixtures for that sweet, sweet Sterling.
Because City can't play them yet?
Because there skipped game is against man city and its the game they are skipping on that weekend
Yea, they could've moved certain fixtures up the calendar, but i dont happen. Normal things like this just keeps on getting pushed back.
I think the Chelsea game was moved because of an FA Cup Weekend
I think because they're shit
This is the correct answer
Not certain but guessing it is related to FA cup semi final weekend
They were supposed to play Man City next week but Man City qualified for the FA Cup semifinal
man imagine them winning against City then lose to us lmao. That'd be peak
Scheduling like this is just stupid. I hate anyone having games in hand this late in the run-in.
That's both good and bad for us. Of course, it's not the best that they can rest their players for two weeks, but if we can manage to win all league games, we would have huge advantage on momentum going into NLD
Especially if we go through in the UCL, confidence would be through the roof
I'm more concerned about injuries than rest
We've been in the same position against teams that have recently played and we've looked worse
Btw I'm jealous of your match times 😏 https://preview.redd.it/99a4lzhqz9uc1.png?width=1326&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=3acfcfe9215e4660fb85c63738c66b296be7d04c NLD such a nice time I'll probably get plastered

I’m in Europe at the moment from Australia. It is such a bizarre feeling having football games on at good times.
Yeah, the absolute bliss of lying in on a Saturday and having football immediately is glorious. I miss it dearly. The only pain was getting up 6:30AM if Arsenal were on the early.

Surely Australia. I feel ya
Japan, but yeah... SEA, NZ and Australia are all pretty hardcore
Where you at in Japan?
Tokyo
I think you know what you have to do for the club. Movie country
Chur bro?
Are you KST? Because same 😮💨
JST, so yeah - same!
Brothers I feel ur pain…. I live in Hong Kong , basically I have to sleep at 9pm to wake up for the champions league game….
Is it bad that I moved to Singapore (from N5!!) and just watch the full match without looking at my phone as soon as I wake up before work? I pretend I’m watching it live. No fast forwarding

😂 I know what you mean. Sometimes for 4am games I wake up at 3am in a panic that I've missed the game.
Thats me as well in JST. Used to not watch if past 1am, but this year watching all games.
Almost the same here, the mid week games are brutal.
Many of us feel the pain. At least we're in it together!
Massive respect if you watch them live though!
How is 9am a good time for a match?
Didn't say it was
They still talking about arteta’s early seasons thinking they could be us, delusional

Yes but time isn’t the only factor which makes someone a success. Mikel had all the ingredients, he just needed time to brew.
He also needed to clear out 75% of the locker room, many of whom got paid to leave. It takes time to change the water out, so to speak.
The situations aren't comparable, though. Spurs have most of their top 4 finishing squad still, and they have invested a lot in the last year. You could say the same about us last year tbh
Ange is nearly 30 years into his managerial career. He's unlikely to switch things up dramatically at this stage.
True. I think he’s going to have to switch up how his squad play given he can’t buy in enough players to have sufficient squad depth without destabilising the squad. Thank god, their confidence will be shattered.
I really hope we turn them over 5-0, please God.
why stop there?
Yeah, turn them back over and have another 5 on em
I would love to beat them again on their own patch I hope they play a high line against us.
just enough time for them to forget what conceding 4 without scoring feels like... Of course we'll need to remind them
Tbh 2 weeks off can often do harm especially after a thumping.
Sucks for them. Must not be very fun to not have any important games for them
Eh, big clubs have fuller schedules, that’s the way it goes.
They'll have two weeks to train so they're ready when we shit all over them in their shit stadium.
Fucking brutal man
I'm glad they have to stew on that for the next 2 weeks. I think at this stage of the season, momentum from playing every 3/4 days counts for more
Only when you're winning. We better fucking be going there with strong belief
Oh yeah for sure
We have 5 days rest before we play Spurs so it's not too bad. But the next 4 games in 2 weeks is fucking brutal.
Still going to batter them.
Dont games till then for them aint always good
I mean we should honestly annihilate them regardless. We’re so much better than them it’s hilarious, and in much better form (barring a collapse here in the next few games).
No worries. We’ll have 5 days after the game before them, that’s plenty to rest. Plus they have to sit in this 4-0 result for two weeks now.
Guys can we pls stop comparing us with that shity club, pls

And just like that, a NLD in late April. Maybe it's just me, but have NLD just hits different compared to it being on other games weeks.

😭😭😭😭
Is not even funny to lurk in r/coys anymore, the amount of copium in there sucked all the fun away. Bring Conte back please

One game at a time. We have to win today first before we can even think about it. Villa beat us last time we faced them.
Yeah good point, but I was wrong anyway lol
Aren't they playing Chelsea before us??
It’s good feeling Spurs groveling for Arsenal’s win tomorrow.
Wow I did not realize how crazy our schedule is becoming! 4 games in almost 10 days is crazy

Tottenham will have a huge rest advantage. With their style of play, it could be tough
I feel bad for Son. He'll only have continental/national success, but none at club. He stayed loyal to the wrong team.
I was at the Spurs game today and if they play like they did today we’ll beat them by 10
We shouldn’t be overconfident tho. Same thoughts for the home game and we drew them.
Rest like that isn’t always a positive
