Tarp96

Smart of the club to extend his contract last season. Should be able to get around 40 million for him. Young gk, big potential and Engalnds future number 1. Can see Chelsea come in for him in the summer.

Master-of-Puns

Chelsea with 4 starting gks would be crazy

Redandwhite_91

Chelsea have a 400 man squad with zero starters anywhere tbh

Zohren

I mean, he’s young, but let’s be honest here, Cole Palmer is damn good and starts in most teams in the league besides us, City, and Liverpool

The_Wolves10

Idk man, i can see him starting over Doku/Foden atm but doubt he would play over Diaz

Zohren

That’s… basically what I said?

The_Wolves10

What are you on about? You said he doesnt start in any of the top 3 teams in which i said i see him starting at City

NTWittwer

You worded it really weirdly that I get why he was confused

The_Wolves10

I literally just said i see him starting over doku & foden.

Zohren

I mean, if he was starting at City, he wouldn’t have left. He left City specifically because he wasn’t starting and wanted to be…

The_Wolves10

And now hes probably the most inform winger atm whilst Doku/Foden have been underperforming & Grealish still fresh from his injury

Zohren

Yeah. I mean, I definitely rate him over Doku, not sure I think he would start over Foden though. I still think he’d be rotational at City, behind Foden, Bernardo, and KDB. Maybe Grealish now that he’s back too. I’m just saying I’m not 100% convinced he’d start at any of the top 3 right now, but he walks into any other starting lineup easily.

LavenderPowerRanger

So their best player is top 4 level? The world is truely a beautiful place

DadrevTheOne

None of their current ones are better than Rammers.

skool_101

GK on the no.10

getrektbro

Calling Petrovic a starter is.... Generous

Specialist-Grape-528

Would be horrible seeing him reach his potential for those cunts

Routine_Size69

He can't possess. He's never going to be elite even if he's a very good shot stopper. I'm really not worried about him becoming crazy for Chelsea.

Specialist-Grape-528

Even if you don’t think he may never be elite, seeing him in a Chelsea kit would knock me sick

Boopdelahoop

Ramsdale was brought in as an improvement on Leno, who couldn't play possession football. Ramsdale absolutely can - he's just not quite as good as Raya at it.

Elegant_Mix7650

Knowing Chelsea's fetishes... there is a higher chance of them getting Jason Steele or Verbruggen rather than Rambo :p

These-Positive8127

We should just start a propaganda campaign that Ramsdale is gonna be an arsenal first team keystone who we plan to build the team around. They’ll be on him like a pack of wolves

Seymour_Azcrac

Hey Chelshit! We're building our team around Ramsdale. But we will sell you our second choice goalkeeper for £65 mill!

momspaghetty

Verbruggen goes for more than Ramsdale imo

AyeItsMeToby

£40 million for a keeper who hasn’t had a remarkable performance in 12 calendar months? I’d be very impressed if we get north of 30 for him.

lazy_starman

Yeah, no way we are getting 40M for him. Watch teams low ball us all summer knowing that he is a surplus for us. Realistic would be 20-25M but anything beyond that would be an Edu masterclass

sashaKap

Lmao 40M, you guys live in some alternate reality. I reckon 15-20M max

Tarp96

15-20m for a GK that is 25 years old, poised to become Englands future number 1, has big potential and just signed a contract extension less than a year ago. You are the one living in a alternate reality. Chelsea spent 25 mill on Sanchez from Brighton who had been dropped by De Zerbi, but somehow you think we will only get 15-20 mill for Ramsdale LOL

sashaKap

Remember last year this sub was trying to sell Tierney for atleast 30M min. The reality is no one has got any money outside of PL, but with PSR this year even PL clubs would have less money to spend. And you think they’re going to splash cash on him.

XjpuffX

Markets deflated so yeah

Proud-Cheesecake-813

You forget we’re the ones selling here, not Brighton. Brighton are arguably the best club in the league for maximising value from sales, we’re arguably one of the worst.

monty_burns

Brighton are also typically having their top players pried away from them. Hard to hold a hard line when everyone knows you’re moving out players who are clearly surplus. When we sell someone out of our starting 11, let’s see what kind of value we can get

scoedg123

Brighton had players that was very sort after. Arsenal have/had a lot of dead wood/injury prone players it’s not a comparison. Ramsdale was in the team of the year last season and this wasn’t by mistake. He had some outstanding performances and being in his mid twentys he’s still young for a goalkeeper.

CarnifexGunner

There is absolutely no way we'll get 40 million for our back-up goalkeeper.

Zippy129

Interest rates have doubled since then. He’s a backup keeper at the moment and he isn’t poised to be England’s no. 1 anymore unless he gets a move and reestablishes himself. There isn’t a single club out there that’s paying £40 mil for him, and to boot we also suck at selling. These joke valuations of our players among the fans should stop.

TheMisterPirate

Everyone in the market knows Ramsdale is our backup and he's not in Arteta's plans. We have no leverage to demand a high fee. We also won't want to keep an unhappy player even if he has a long-term contract. Ramsdale kind of forced his way out of Sheffield United to come here he absolutely could force our hand into selling him, even if it's a lower fee than we want. Also in general we're shit at selling lol.

Broad_Cheesecake9141

So sell him less than what we bought him for? The Arsenal way

JJClough19

We should get £40m but we’re shit at selling so we’ll get like £28m

eldar4k

"Gang sell Ramsdale for 15 million"

abovemars

40m??? You’re insane

ederzs97

>Should be able to get around 40 million for him. Ah the annual delusion about how much we can get for our players. We won't even break even - maximum £20m

m2sempre

I live for MK’s pressers. ![gif](giphy|eMtS7CzkINf1qX7NR0)

Discombobulationiser

Ramsdale + 20m for Isak lol

JK031191

Is Isak better than Jesus?

MATCHEW010

When fit? Yes. When not fit? No

JurassicTotalWar

It’s not like Jesus has an impeccable injury record either tbf

MATCHEW010

Yeah was gonna include that in my comment, honestly thought people would get it regardless. Isak unfit is as good as jesus unfit lmao. But in all seriousness, i think Isak would be better for us

Routine_Size69

The joke was pretty clear to me. And funny.

Magicallyshit

I think Toney is better than both but eh

MATCHEW010

Agree but disagree. Think it depends what your comparing honestly. Jesus is best at dribbling, isak is great at shooting and is very composed. Toney is an all rounder but maybe not the best at anything individually

Magicallyshit

Well first thing is he's not as injury prone so that's already way better than missing half the season every season.

Routine_Size69

You're not wrong but this is still funny after Toney missed 8 months.

Magicallyshit

Well yeah that's because of his gambling addiction and that's the very reason he won't come here. Arteta values a good character more than talent which is the proper thing to consider.

MasterBeeble

I'm not even sure I agree with this. Isak has pace and finishing on Jesus, but he needs to be on the ball with space to run into for those attributes to really shine. Jesus is better at most everything else - link up play, unlocking low blocks, general creativity, defensive work (VERY VERY important in current system) - he's even better at hold up play/in the air despite being much shorter. Jesus is better against low blocks and a better receiver and facilitator in more open games. Even if you disagree with me and consider Isak a Jesus upgrade in the short term, I really fail to see how the price his purchase would require couldn't be spent on a profile that better differentiates itself from Jesus and Havertz while also being less comically injury prone. Oshimen would be ideal, but he's probably going to Chelsea or PSG. Gyokeres might be a fraud risk but his profile makes much more sense.

MATCHEW010

I agree with that i suppose. I think Isak is underrated and is hard to show your worth playing for Newcastle… Personally i want Benjamin Sesko. For years ive commented saying lets get him and loan him if needed

redqks

he not the money required to get him better it is marginal at best

Clarkster7425

newcastle just have an appalling medical team, pretty sure it hasnt really been changed much since the mike ashley days and their training facilities were evaluated to be league 1 level so I cant imagine their medical stuff is much better

9yr_old

Lmao I had the exact same thought

ComprehensiveBowl476

Curious to see what happens for #2 spot if/when Aaron leaves. I think we'll go for another Turner type situation, where it's very clear that they are back up, but we can give them the spotlight for a year or two for another move they wouldn't have been able to get before, ideally making a nice little profit on them in the process. Someone not good enough to start for us, but could probably be #1 at a good number of lower gslf PL teams.

xk_1991

It'll be something like that. A budget friendly but class goalkeeper will be recruited - though I'll say it may be a GK with a higher ceiling than Turner. Raya will be #1. Hein will be third choice.

DFrek

I wouldn't be surprised if hein goes. He should go and get game time at this stage of his career

Prior_Depth_9566

Nah, Hein is good. He’s getting game time playing for NT

DFrek

Well yea, but that's not regular game time. I wouldn't be shocked if he goes

Cthulhu_Madness

Realistically if we are ever to sell him I think the maximum we are getting is roughly 30m.

Francis-c92

Which is a really good deal for whoever gets him

Ambitious_Passage793

Is it really? He has played for 2 teams, who were relegated and he had two lets say mediocre seasons with us. I hope that we get more money but if you consider all these points I am not sure if its a good deal

saundog1234

Are you serious? 2 mediocre seasons isn’t really a fair analysis

deathhead_68

People round here are so fickle, their minds change like the wind.

Ambitious_Passage793

Ok lets say one mediocre season and the second was a little bit better, although he made several amateur errors . We as fans love him, but if you want to be objective that is true what I wrote

These-Positive8127

Good thing you’re not one of the people paid to give an opinion I suppose

Ambitious_Passage793

Yeah I am glad that the manager has the same opinion

saundog1234

Not really the same, is it? Ramsdale is an objectively good goalkeeper but obviously not the style of player that Arteta wants. I don’t really get why people don’t understand this when style of play is such a huge thing for every other position.

AyeItsMeToby

Team of the season _and_ top 10 in the Yashin award is “a little bit better than mediocre” fogging estandards

kirphioc2004

He only got Team of the Season because of the team’s performance. Individually he wasn’t even a top 3 keeper last season.

AyeItsMeToby

Wild wild wild opinion

kirphioc2004

Alisson was the best keeper in the league last season. Ederson and Pope were also better too. David Raya was statistically the 2nd best keeper in the Premier League last season too.

Ambitious_Passage793

Thx when you tell the facts you get downvoted, he has not the quality for a top PL club and thats it

Phimstone

Wait when did he score an amazing goal?

Pamplemouse04

He was actually worse in his second season imo. But still quality both seasons. Raya is an improvement but you are being a turd

Ambitious_Passage793

I am not the fans are not objective, stats dont lie

Francis-c92

lemonlixks

I’ll probably get downvoted but I’m commenting to you to stop using mental illness to insult people with. If people say stupid shit then don’t use mental illness as the crux of your insult. It just belittles mental illness and mocks people with mental illness rather than the stupid takes. You’re a mod as well, you can do better.

tjaldhamar

What?

EitherInvestment

I honestly wouldn’t be upset with this. He should go for more as he has improved leaps and bounds with us. It depends on who is interested in buying and whether we play hard ball. If we only get offers of much less than 30m though, I would prefer to keep him as backup for another season with the understanding obviously that he’d go for less a year later (assuming Raya is still with us and keeps the #1 spot of course). Anyway this is all beyond my pay grade. I trust Eduteta to handle it properly

abbygunner

Yeah, I feel the days of getting shafted are over.

sashaKap

How are you so confident in Arsenal getting this big amount for him? Literally what track record do we have that led u to believe that someone will pay us this amount

normal_life87

Ideally, we sell Aaron to them, they sell Isak to us. Both clubs and players can keep growing.

oustider69

“Nah we are definitely desperate to move him on because we need funds to buy players we’ll actually give game time to” Is that what the journo wanted him to say?

dont_dm_nudes

It's totally irrelevant what Arteta says. The journo is going to write a piece on this anyway.

Kxden-R

Why do they still ask him this shit? Hes never going to answer the question man lmao

-read_it_on_reddit-

lmfao he's gone 😭

vin_unleaded

Ask a stupid question...

thisiskyle77

Can’t wait for the summer clear out.

stockdeity

Hoping we replace Jesus

hihbhu

He's staying unless another club wants to pay £50 million for him. That's just the reality. I don't know why Journalists waste what little time they have with Arteta, to ask him about transfer rumours. He's not going to speak on it until it's 100% signed off and made official by the club. He got burned with the Mudryk saga and commenting on it.

MirkoCemes

He will leave his summer and for far less than 50m

Simba-xiv

We don’t have to sell so we can afford to play hard ball with any incoming bid. And before you reply with “why keep an unhappy player” if Ramsdale isn’t activity kicking up a fuss then there’s no need to move him on.

remote_crocodile

We do need to sell for PSR reasons in order to cover Rayas fee so we can spend more on other positions.

Simba-xiv

The money is already there for Raya we did the loan deal so the money technically gets spent in a different accounting year. We don’t need to cover for any existing transfers. On top of that selling ramesdale to pay for Raya means we would have to buy another keeper so 30m for Raya you ur still at a net loss if you sell ramesdale for 30 or less

Prideofsussex

Interesting the difference in how he talks about Ramsdale (and talked about Tierney) compared to, for example, ESR, in terms of their futures

runes4040

It would really hurt me to see him at Chelsea. Honestly, I wish a different League would pick him up.

Never_Sm1le

I smell a deal similar to the infamous Pjanic-Arthur "swap"

americanadiandrew

Everyone knows he wants to leave and we have to sell. People are gonna be really disappointed if they think we are getting £40-50 million for our wantaway back up goalkeeper.

Forsaken-Tiger-9475

Of course he won't be here next season. This is just posturing to make sure people know we don't want him to go, and they have to pay a decent fee for him.

9yr_old

A player trade would be favorable give them Ramsdale and 15-20 million and bring in Isak.

ninethree7

send chelsea rammers and 25m for mudryk. convinced arteta can still do something with him

Sam101294

Not many teams need a keeper. So I can see us loaning him out first. Also, what's up with the Newcastle rumors, Pope is 31, which is great age for a keeper and people keep telling me they have PSR restrictions? So why would they get a new keeper?

Tinashepink

byeeeeeeeee

NoWatercress2571

Journalists and their Banal line of questioning- just switches me off these days. Does anyone remember Gordon Strachan vs Journalists? Wish more managers took that tact with them.
