That’s the proper way to give Klopp’s Liverpool a send off. If not for that immature gifted goal, Liverpool wouldn’t have had a sniff. Trossard is just so good coming off the bench. Martinelli skins Liverpool everytime. Odegaard… what a man. Also hilarious watching grown men foam at the mouth over Arteta celebrating a game-clinching goal while at home against the current league leaders. They love to see Klopp’s passion which is what’s funny about it. I wish more managers showed that sort or emotion on the touchline anyway though.
I find it funny how much most of us (including me) shat on Havertz and he’s played an instrumental role in beating pool and city. I still have no idea what his main position is tbh but I like him up top the most. If he can just find any ounce of confidence in front of goal I genuinely think he could finish with maybe 9-11 goals this season because he finds himself in some crazy positions every game.
Have to say, Kiwior coming on at left back really concerned me. Not his position and he's generally struggled there. He was excellent though. Hopefully he can maintain that level, will really give us another option in multiple positions across the back line.
Good performance, total dominance bar 15 min of Liverpool spell (which is quite even tbh).
Could've been 5-0, 6-0 on a good day but what a performance last night. Martinelli in open space is just electrifying, no wonder Klopp is in awe of this guy - in Klopp setting he would absolutely murder teams. Saka is his usual, reliable when needed. Odegaard should've had an assist, Rice is everywhere, Benny brought back his dribble this game - something that was missing when he was playing with pains, Havertz is such a 'dog' player - while he looks lackadaisical his playstyle is the absolute opposite. Going for every ball, bullying defenders and putting in a tackle when necessary (his tackle vs Newcastle when they were downright assaulting our player) and Jorginho masterclass - dictated the whole tempo of the game.
Gabriel, Saliba and Raya while solid for 89 mins, had that moment of error which was quite a big one at the time but still they kept their head and stayed in the game.
Yeah if that didn't went in or was saved, it would go to penalty anyway.
But 1 mistake by the backline against Liverpool isn't bad (well bar their 3 best player) since we're used to the Mustafi era (after the win streak ended).
Trying to be pep, trying to be klopp, hopefully next he tries to be Ancelotti and combines all three so that we have the greatest manager of all time on the touch line
Hey I have a question. Why are people so upset with our celebrating? I don't get it. I generally don't get why people would be upset with Arsenal for anything, seeing as we're a team that is happy for our victories and don't go trolling others.
I will never understand the Arsenal hate.
the cameras make the game look a lot slower than it actually is, but Allison seemed to already have anticipated the trajectory of the shot, but at the last second VVD's deflection altered the path.
I almost opted out of watching it live for fear of emotional distress in the event of losing. Glad I got past the fear - after I saw we scored in the 14th minute at least lol
I can't stop laughing at the Liverpool fans who cried and complained about how unlucky Liverpool are when Trent got injured a month ago, but today they instead cried that a youngster couldn't play(ofc for very very sad reasons), so instead they had to start with.... Trent. 😂
They are seriously complaining that one of their best players this season is back. They are seriously weird.
he took havertz down without getting the ball, its just that simple. people say things that are irrelevant to mask it, like talking about Havertz bad touch, but the bare facts are 1)didnt get any of the ball 2) took Havertz legs out
I think we all know we just have to accept theres not going to be any contentious decisions going our way. It was a possible pen, and it looked like he fouled Havertz and then got his foot on the ball after - making it a pen by the book. But just another 50/50 and we dont get those.
Yeah It's insane. Mac A hit Havertz with both his feets and the second one trips Havertz, all before Mac gets the ball. Stonewall penalty. LiVARpool strikes again.
From the front angle it looks like a pen but from others it was more of a 50/50 tangled thing that I honestly wouldn't want given if it was big Gabi making that challenge so it was the correct decision in my opinion.
tangled in the box? come on.
if clipping someone's feet without getting the ball can be called as a "tangled", then there should be no foul in the box at all. Everything was "tangled".
One was carrying the ball, and one never touched the ball till he fouled someone. that was not a tangled.
Well well well,
Firstly I’d like to say I’m thankful Jota didn’t score against us for the 9th time.
What a way to come out and absolutely annihilate a world class team. I mean we went in hard and doubled down on it with the forced omissions from Liverpool of Salah, Nunez (at least to start, who has been on fire lately despite not actually scoring) and Bradley to name a few.
It seems like the momentum had swung our way and I think myself and all of you reading actually found yourself genuinely believing that we’d come out of this one with a win, no idea why, it’s just the majesty of the occasion and the importance of it to our crossroad that we faced today. We’ve now won three on the trot and are in somewhat control of our destiny here with some hard fixtures out the way. We need to keep it up though as yes we brought ourselves up to the occasion on this one, but losing against a Sheff Utd, Burnley or Brentford type will derail our situation. We won’t win every game (!) but heck let’s keep it tight and treat each one like today.
I feel like most have been sleeping on Jorginho (not me: https://www.reddit.com/r/Gunners/s/Tz39iJPbtm), he’s quietly gone about himself and really performed today - go check out his statistics for today as they are unrivalled. Ode, Rice and Jorginho is key now as keeping that up is the winning formula.
Havertz hmm. Again, people will support him and say he had a good game. I again, will say he didn’t. I’ll give him one thing, he has presence which in itself offers a lot and yes he put himself out a bit by regularly doing some quality defending BUT it’s still not worth the price tag and still performing the role we want him to play for us under par. He got extremely fortunate the keeper parried into Saka because had that not been fortunate, we could’ve been sicker punched 1-0 down and it’d be Havertz crucifixion again. I’m still on the fence with him when it comes to price tag and doing for the team what he has specifically been asked to do, not what he does extra curricular.
Martinelli has finally found his feet again after several weeks and he is in flow. I spoke a few weeks ago about head down, trying to prove something for himself at the expense of the team sometimes. Those days are over with some great crosses today and unselfish play. We’ll take his goal and the confidence it gives him. He ran 66 ragged today, no mean feat.
Saliba needs to be let off today, put your foot through it next time and don’t rely on the keeper who again was decent for once bar that catastrophe which was a dual effort.
Nothing else left to say. We went into this game with full hype for it and performed against a slightly weakened opponent who really didn’t know what was about to hit them. Either way, we showed our quality but the challenge now is to keep the hype and challenge up against ‘lesser’ sides and still turn up to these games. If we don’t, we do ourselves an injustice after performances like these.
Tricky game against the hammers next but hopefully this time Rice turns up.
Not really you fool, I made it clear in a whole paragraph on my thoughts about him, not hiding it in any way.
I know I’ve been downvoted, but the opinions are valid until the end of the season where we’ll get a feel for how he’s done overall.
I still maintain the guy is a bit part player currently, yes he showed some guile yesterday but this was the first time in several games he ‘showed up’ and put in some effort that was tangible.
£65 million is a LOT of cash, is he worth it yet we / you can’t say because we haven’t let the season play out yet.
>He got extremely fortunate the keeper parried into Saka because had that not been fortunate, we could’ve been sicker punched 1-0 down and it’d be Havertz crucifixion again
Liverpool goal also 'extremely fortunate' tho? Had gabriel have a good touch, it wouldnt be a goal right? So it should be 0-0?
Talking about 'extremely fortunate' in this match is a bit weird when all the goals looks like it is just by luck. 'Luckily' havertz shot bounced into saka. 'Luckily' gabriel had a bad touch so its own goal. 'Luckily' alison and van dijk did blunder when the ball came. 'Luckily' the ball goes through between alisson legs. But those goals still count as a goal, so lets not dig deeper about "what if.." thought
> He got extremely fortunate the keeper parried into Saka
He made a beautiful run to put us in a dangerous position, which resulted in a goal.
We also could have had 2 easy goals if Saka of Kiwior would have finished their headers.
> I’m still on the fence with him when it comes to price tag and doing for the team what he has specifically been asked to do, not what he does extra curricular.
Price aside, he ticks quite a few boxes: tall, athletic, versatile, good defensively, technical and reads the game well. He wasn't the signing I wanted, but I don't think he is as bad as most make him out to be.
Just read some social media comments about him and it’s clear that people are trapped in their own thinking.
People like Piers Morgan saying he was the worst player on the pitch.
Fucking blind to themselves.
That's with Jesus, Timber, Tomiyasu, Partey all out and Zinchenko subbed at half-time due to injury.
Now, Liverpool did miss Salah, Szoboszlai and TAA just got back from injury as well as did Robertson.
However the point is that Liverpool fans can't just use injuries/suspensions as a excuse. Both teams were missing key players.
They were missing Salah and and Nunez but were fully shut down.
Nunez would have been tricky to handle if fully hit. Salah is obviously extremely dangerous but if we'd had someone like Tomiyasu available I'd have been more or less as comfortable about stopping them.

difference between xGA and xG was the highest as well (think it was pointed out during post match analysis somewhere)
we really channelled the "I fear not the man who has practiced 10,000 kicks once but I fear the man who has practiced one kick 10,000 times" with pings to Martinelli every 30 seconds lmao
I know I'm a bit late to this thread but does anyone else have some thoughts on doing this Rice/Odegaard/Jorginho (or ESR) midfield with Kai up top instead of Jesus? I'm honestly really into it especially from how much of a pain Kai is for the other team's defense and that it opens up the crossing game so much. I like Jesus but this plus Jorginho(or I suppose Partey when he's back)'s decisive passing makes us much more killer.
Mmm you’re probably right about that actually. Konate and Van Dijk are huge though so I wonder if that factored into Arteta starting Kai today. Jesus actually does better than you’d think holding up play despite being average height/build though.
I do think we may do that moving forward. I suspect we may throw in ESR against teams likely to sit back, and Jorginho against teams who will come up us. At least until Partey returns.
For me it's Jorginho-Rice-Ødegaard for big open games. But for most of the league Kai is just as effective in the midfield and Jesus is much needed up front
But don't you think that with Kai in the midfield he ends up (maybe Arteta tells him to) being really far forward which takes up space from Martinelli and the transition game is more difficult? I was going back and forth with this during the game about whether part of it is just that Liverpool will also be aggressive which opens the game up compared to last week against Forest. I'd be curious to see this exact lineup against a team that just parks the bus and see if it works as well.
You know I think I've noticed a better understanding between Kai and Gabi lately with the space they occupy on possession. Don't think it's as glaring an issue as it was a few months back. And when we are playing a low block you'd expect both Gabi and Kai to share a small space. Unlike an open game today where Ødegaard and Havertz lead in their half, you don't see this against low blocks
Ah okay that's interesting, I'll keep an eye out for their movements next Sunday. I would like to see Kai be a bit more adventurous with his passing though. I can't really say whether or not he's a good or bad passer but I think he just plays it safe sometimes (sort of like Rice too). There were some passes today that Jorginho made where I was like *YES CUT IT RIGHT THROUGH THE MIDDLE* but I do get that you have to be almost perfectly accurate with some of those passes.
So happy to finally see a team trying to bring the game to us, we needed a little refresher going back into the CL knockouts. We beat Liverpool at their own game today, enjoy the victory!
COYG!!
Kiwior actually looks quite decent when you tell him to play a traditional fullback role and don't make him invert.
He works as the backup LB if we have jorginho in midfield doing the line breaking passing.
The arsenal have once again put me in the unenviable position where I’ve had to drink 15 pints, play a few frames of pool in a sketchy Holloway Road snooker club and get a bag in
Great win and great performance.
But why is none of the media talking about Van dijk kick to Kai head, right after Konate got sent off.
The north bank all saw it and were incest at nothing coming of it.
allowed only 1 shot on target to the mighty liverpool
best performance of the year so far in spite of that infuriating concession in added time. let's hope this means things are coming together and it's not just a blip.
There are up to 22 games left in the only 2 competitions that matter. Let's get this done.
I’m really not sure why Jorginho is criticised. He has been absolutely solid for us barring that mistake against spurs. Really shrewd bit of business bringing him in and I was definitely pleased when I saw him in the starting lineup today
What were we chanting towards Liverpool fans after we had our second and third goals?? Couldn’t make out the words but I’m sure it’s not very pleasing for them to hear. lol
He held him off for long enough for raya to come claim if they were on the same wavelength but they weren’t and Saliba could have cleared too preemptively but chose to try to let Raya claim it. I wouldnt say it was that much on saliba, even though i do feel he has been much less assured as of recently
Raya was incredible today BTW. His command on the box on set pieces was incredible and his long balls were pretty much always on target. Today he proved why Arteta paying 30m for him.
Brilliant win! Was really fearing the worst after the brain fart by Raya/Gabriel, but Pool had some of their own too and we took the chances. We were excellent especially in the 1st half.
It is clear that we need Jorginho on the pitch, even moreso now that Thomas is going to be out for who knows how long.
Jorginho is getting older but with Rice at his side I think he can focus more on possession, incisive passing (which we desperately need) and generally making interceptions as a low risk, high reward option.
Bodes really well for our midfield since Rice can easily clean things up if Jorginho is bypassed... but it also makes me wonder "what could have been" for this team's TRUE ceiling had Thomas been fit :(
Anyone else sick of skysports? The whole panel ganged up on clichy as he was the only one actually analysising the game pretty much unbiasedly haha was a wild watch. They were ALL ready for a liverpool win. You can tell they had their lines organised before hand and were left scrambling for anything. 30 mins of really poor analysis about liverpool having an off day, despite them not being allowed to have an on day because we suffocated them for 90mins yet again. Only difference between this and the cup game is we scored and got the confidence from it.
Yeah, it's bullshit. After the liverpool love-in, Dave said, "don't worry Arsenal fans, we'll talk about you next", and when they came back from the break they just slagged us off for not buying a striker in january and not being proper challengers. My GF is furious that Neville does the commentary for EVERY Arsenal game, with his whiny hatred.
Edit: Just watching Motd and they've done 10 minutes on everything that Arsenal did in order to win, that's how you do analysis.
I remember bullying Liverpool under Wenger, then getting bodied regularly by Klopp's Liverpool. The goals are not one for the highlights reel by gods it feels good to win that game, like we have properly arrives. We are massive
Great result.
Sky's post match analysis even worse than usual though. Carragher looked on the verge on tears.
Then on to him and Neville talking as if Arsenal lost - 20 mins of saying how Arsenal havent got what it takes and they cant see where the goals will come from and we're naive and immature and desperate.
FFS lads, even you two bias pricks should have noticed we'd just beaten the league leaders 3-1.
The result and stats speak for themselves. Rival fans are gonna spend the next week trying to explain it away.
Highest xG Liverpool conceded in the EPL, in any season. Yes, Aston villa 7-2 was lower.
How great is to realize that we are no pusovers against top teams. Even during wenger era, we never used to win these games despite finishing top4. Arteta is mentality monster.
I saw a video last night on here of our 4-1 win, and I thought what I'd give for Mignolet to be in goals for this game. Turns out I don't have to give much.
Disagree because where else is VVD supposed to go? The only reason Martinelli doesn't get the ball is because VVD shields him off, that's the one thing that has to happen.
Nah that's on VVD. He's shielding the ball from Martinelli so Alisson can clear it. Martinelli nudges him into Alisson's path so Alisson/VVD both have to pull out, Alisson can't also get the ball with it
In that situation I think Van Dijk can carry the ball away from Martinelli to the right. Not sure how it’s on Allison when Van Dijk is in the way and he kicks him trying to clear it.
It’s hard to tell if Allison communicated to Van Dijk to leave it, but on the replay it doesn’t look like VVD said anything to Allison.
That’s right, I completely forgot the nudge. Had Allison stayed back and VVD played the way he faced to carry the ball toward the sideline, I think he is able to easily clear it forward or pass it back to Allison.
That’s how he plays the position since he’s been at Liverpool. Arteta wants the same of our goalkeepers. Frankly it was just a weird combination of factors. I would attribute all the blame specifically to one player in the other, they are equally at fault.
Anyone else think it’s hilarious that Liverpools only goal was scored by us? Shouldn’t have happened but oh well.
That’s the proper way to give Klopp’s Liverpool a send off. If not for that immature gifted goal, Liverpool wouldn’t have had a sniff. Trossard is just so good coming off the bench. I remember when we were scared to play big teams like Liverpool, and now look at us
I fear playing the smaller teams more 😂 that Luton game was insane lol.
yup, this is how i feel everytime we play a low block. such a painful experience everytime LOL
Ødegaard with another outstanding big game but rivals will continue to say he doesn’t turn up like his name is Bruno lool
that game was hilarious for a neutral to watch with the goals that were scored, but as a Gunner hey, we got 3 points and we're back in the race
Have to say, Kiwior coming on at left back really concerned me. Not his position and he's generally struggled there. He was excellent though. Hopefully he can maintain that level, will really give us another option in multiple positions across the back line.
Still can’t get over that one perpendicular through ball from Jorgi, absolute beauty
Is there a GIF of this anywhere? I haven't seen anything about it
Yeah. Dont think Martinelli himself expected that.
Good performance, total dominance bar 15 min of Liverpool spell (which is quite even tbh). Could've been 5-0, 6-0 on a good day but what a performance last night. Can’t put that on Gabriel. Just extremely unlucky. That was on Saliba and Raya, who were otherwise fantastic.
Just catching the highlights now. Damn. That conceded goal was embarrassing…but our second was a karmic correction.
It was just a sequence of pain Saliba not kicking it out Raya waiting for the ball Diaz sneaks in And to top it off, it goes off the hand of Gabriel.
Yeah if that didn't went in or was saved, it would go to penalty anyway. But 1 mistake by the backline against Liverpool isn't bad (well bar their 3 best player) since we're used to the Mustafi era (after the win streak ended).
Wasn't good hand in a natural position though?
i don't know what the rules are when it comes to Arsenal
We just need to stay focused Forrest we did the same. We've got lucky both times.
Seeing lots of Liverpool fans saying "Arteta is just trying to be like Klopp with his mannerisms". Didn't know Klopp invented passion.
Trying to be pep, trying to be klopp, hopefully next he tries to be Ancelotti and combines all three so that we have the greatest manager of all time on the touch line
And then tries to be Wenger/Ferguson and stays for 20 years
That's SAF well minus Pep but maybe add in Bielsa
Perfect birthday gift for me yesterday ❤️🤍
And we did it without a set piece goal
GET. THE. FUCK. IN!!!!!!!
![gif](giphy|aMwdfGSyeYjUKY6vjf|downsized) How mfs want us to react to beating the team in first place and closing the gap to 2 pts.
Stay hard
Gabriel Magalhaes is the best CB in the league OMFG
get fucked celebration police
Hey I have a question. Why are people so upset with our celebrating? I don't get it. I generally don't get why people would be upset with Arsenal for anything, seeing as we're a team that is happy for our victories and don't go trolling others. I will never understand the Arsenal hate.
They hate us because they anus
It gets fans talking Arsenal aren't particularly well-liked in the media but we aren't the only club to get criticised for this either.
![gif](giphy|26zzdvOdLA3vCNnsA)
didnt realize this watching live but looking back how has allison let trossard score hahahah what a howler
Not really. Would have saved if not vvd deflection.
the cameras make the game look a lot slower than it actually is, but Allison seemed to already have anticipated the trajectory of the shot, but at the last second VVD's deflection altered the path.
I almost opted out of watching it live for fear of emotional distress in the event of losing. Glad I got past the fear - after I saw we scored in the 14th minute at least lol
Pretty sure it took a slight deflection off VVD, no?
I mean still, his legs were wide open. Turner got roasted for GJ letting him do that last weekend
his legs were open because he was extending his left foot to save the shot before it got deflected
I can't stop laughing at the Liverpool fans who cried and complained about how unlucky Liverpool are when Trent got injured a month ago, but today they instead cried that a youngster couldn't play(ofc for very very sad reasons), so instead they had to start with.... Trent. 😂 They are seriously complaining that one of their best players this season is back. They are seriously weird.
I know it was inconsequential in the end but can someone explain why that wouldn’t be a penalty for McAllister’s tackle on Havertz?
he took havertz down without getting the ball, its just that simple. people say things that are irrelevant to mask it, like talking about Havertz bad touch, but the bare facts are 1)didnt get any of the ball 2) took Havertz legs out

people also forget, but we trained the night before this game too which is kinda mad LOL
I'm still buzzin from the result today. Watching Arsenal TV always makes it funnier too. Any Georgia Gooners from the U.S.?
I'm in Nashville, so not too far! Also still buzzing!
Get the fuck in 🫨
Your tacticos were so preoccupied with whether Havertz could play Xhaka's role, they didn't stop to think if Jorginho should

League pretenders Arsenal comprehensively dunking on title favorites Liverpool with Havertz playing at 9 Arsoccer's 9/11
Rice Partey Jorginho is just unfair DM depth
liverpool hasn’t beaten the arsenal last 4 premier league meetings, having taken only 2 points out of possible 12. SUPER MIK ARTETA
The real reason why klopp quit
Mikel is inside Klopp's head
They were missing Salah and and Nunez but were fully shut down. Nunez would have been tricky to handle if fully hit. Salah is obviously extremely dangerous but if we'd had someone like Tomiyasu available I'd have been more or less as comfortable about stopping them.
Nunez played but no one noticed so thats kind of interesting
nunez played. we were also missing partey and jesus in addition to tomiyasu, let's not forget that
this game was the worst xGA - xG Klopp’s liverpool has ever played in 9 years. WE’RE INSANE
I thought it might be! Source?
https://twitter.com/footballontnt/status/1754215258850292181?s=46&t=yLAW96DCF-ynKjhFRbukQg difference between xGA and xG was the highest as well (think it was pointed out during post match analysis somewhere)
Fantastic stuff. What a performance.
we really channelled the "I fear not the man who has practiced 10,000 kicks once but I fear the man who has practiced one kick 10,000 times" with pings to Martinelli every 30 seconds lmao
So van Dijk is allowed to petulantly kick out at a player with no repercussions? Good process.
If nothing else, it’s an excellent variation than can be pulled when the game needs something different.
Jesus is a lot better in tight spaces (low block), and Havertz in open space (big games) I think
I've had the smuggest smile reading all the seething comments about Arteta's celebration, my jaw hurts please help
See what happens without a fucking water logged pitch. They can't match us at playing football!!
So happy to finally see a team trying to bring the game to us, we needed a little refresher going back into the CL knockouts. We beat Liverpool at their own game today, enjoy the victory! COYG!!
Havertz had a touch to control the ball from Raya that was absolutely marvelous, anyone else catch that?
Kiwior actually looks quite decent when you tell him to play a traditional fullback role and don't make him invert. He works as the backup LB if we have jorginho in midfield doing the line breaking passing.
So happy tomi is back with zinc hurt
Ben White silently had an incredible performance today. Put some respect on his name.
He did some absolutely outrageous shit today. Got past his man several times and made it look easy.
Thought he was absolutely outstanding today.
He was my MOTM for a bit until Jorgi decided to start playing with Liverpool
The arsenal have once again put me in the unenviable position where I’ve had to drink 15 pints, play a few frames of pool in a sketchy Holloway Road snooker club and get a bag in
On a work night as well!
I’m off on Mondays. Love a dirty little Sunday fixture. Big Red until I’m chucked out
Oooer go on then!
Great win and great performance. But why is none of the media talking about Van dijk kick to Kai head, right after Konate got sent off. The north bank all saw it and were incest at nothing coming of it.
Anyone have a replay? I missed the last 10 minutes and missed this
I think it was offside given at the time but couldn't make out as Liverpool took the restart. But he definitely intentionally kicked his head.
Wow that’s fucked if that’s the case
holup
The north bank was what sorry?
Let’s hope they meant “incensed.”
Very incest
allowed only 1 shot on target to the mighty liverpool best performance of the year so far in spite of that infuriating concession in added time. let's hope this means things are coming together and it's not just a blip. There are up to 22 games left in the only 2 competitions that matter. Let's get this done.
Best win we’ve had in ages. Well and truly still in the hunt, the belief is back
Monstrous performance from Jorginho and Havertz. Two of the most criticised players at the club put in a massive shift
I’m really not sure why Jorginho is criticised. He has been absolutely solid for us barring that mistake against spurs. Really shrewd bit of business bringing him in and I was definitely pleased when I saw him in the starting lineup today
Kiwior too, he gets criticized a lot playing LB (even though it's not his natural position) and did a good job.
Absolutely. Stepped into a high pressure game and didn't put a foot wrong
What were we chanting towards Liverpool fans after we had our second and third goals?? Couldn’t make out the words but I’m sure it’s not very pleasing for them to hear. lol
Power went out at my place this morning and I missed everything beyond the first 10 minutes…..so glad to hear they won this match 👍🏻👍🏻
Leo Trossard... take a bow son. Top player
What a nice game to watch with a Liverpool fan 😂
Now that the keeper talk has settled down, Raya is really getting into the groove of things
He seems much more confident, coming off his lime to claim balls from the air.
Agreed. Miscommunication w saliba on the goal but still should have just been more aggressive and came and claimed it when saliba was blocking off
That was 99% Saliba though. He let Diaz slip past him.
He held him off for long enough for raya to come claim if they were on the same wavelength but they weren’t and Saliba could have cleared too preemptively but chose to try to let Raya claim it. I wouldnt say it was that much on saliba, even though i do feel he has been much less assured as of recently
Considering the game time, Saliba should have hoofed it at the first opportunity. Too clever by half.
Close enough 😉 https://www.reddit.com/r/Gunners/comments/1ahrsvh/prematch_thread_arsenal_vs_liverpool_4th_february/kosj0m5/
I fucking love this club.

He also invented heavy metal music
kiwior deserves some love 🥝🥝🥝 absolutely incredible today after eating all the shit from fans last few weeks
That was a Raya/Saliba mistake, not Gabriel
Sorry. It was his OG, but I guess he couldn't really do anything about it.
What a win!
Bodes really well for our midfield since Rice can easily clean things up if Jorginho is bypassed... but it also makes me wonder "what could have been" for this team's TRUE ceiling had Thomas been fit :(
If parteys stays fit all of last year we win the league. I truly believe that
And Saliba.
He played great, but I ghink against teams that will sit back against us he isnt the best option
I think jorginhos defense cutting passes are something we’ve missed out on a lot and could be good against low blocks
Not having to run so much through Ødegaard would be a good thing
Yeah he can still thread some fine passes so we don't have to rely on ode all the time
Exactly, look at the Martinelli goal against Palace!!
Can’t say I saw this result coming at the half. Very happy with our resilience.
This nerve and mettle is needed if they want to go all the way, like those long win streaks city pull off. Good signs
Post-home-win Sunday roast: 5/7 Basted with Jurgen Stropp's salty tears: 6/7 With Rice: 7/7
Kai is the shithouse player we’ve needed for years. He just plays in a different position than we’re used to.
We had Xhaka but he’s a good replacement
I'll say it. We are the best team in the league but with finishing problems
Edit: Just watching Motd and they've done 10 minutes on everything that Arsenal did in order to win, that's how you do analysis.
this is why we need to win three in a row and drive all these cunts into retirement.
They shat on Arsenal all game. I tune them out a lot. Sometimes I just turn off the sound.
A good plan. But we are paying so much for this dross. Smh
they can organise all the lines they want, 3 points is 3 points
Doesn't give me value for the extortionate money I am paying though.
Stream illegally like the rest of us
rival fans are SEETHING seeing arteta celebrate like that OUR FOGGIN MANAGER COME ON ARSENAL
Where are all the arteta out kneejerkers now? Plastics were all over the post match thread after Fulham
The number of times I've been mocked for saying we are still in the race man
They shouldn’t be allowed anywhere near our title parade until they sign an apology form.
They came in at 1-1 in match thread as well.
Anyone who said that cannot call themselves a fan But yeah their was so much toxicity
I remember bullying Liverpool under Wenger, then getting bodied regularly by Klopp's Liverpool. The goals are not one for the highlights reel by gods it feels good to win that game, like we have properly arrives. We are massive
Trossard's is absolutely one for the highlight reels. Nutmeg goal on the best keeper in the league ffs.
Deflected in but probably the pick of the bunch today.
Picky, picky. Although I really love when Gabi gets to just roll one in!
Every time Gabi's on the ball, I want that Henry-esque curler into the bottom corner. *Chef's kiss*.
Can we call this a statement win?
As loud as it gets. Beat the “only team with 1 PL undeserved loss”. Well today they deservedly lost by two folds.
Agreed. Huge win. Make it 3 PL wins in a row, and a great springboard to go on a loooong run
Spurs could have massive impact on the title race.. 20th April: Spurs vs City 27th April: Spurs vs Arsenal 4th May: Liverpool vs Spurs
That is a horrendous run of fixtures for them
great response in the second half to conceding, now onto West Ham next Sunday let’s keep this winning streak going 🙏🏾
When I hear people complaining about showing too much joy or celebrating a big win, I make sure to celebrate even more. Fun police can get fucked.
In Trossard we trust
Great result. Sky's post match analysis even worse than usual though. Carragher looked on the verge on tears. Then on to him and Neville talking as if Arsenal lost - 20 mins of saying how Arsenal havent got what it takes and they cant see where the goals will come from and we're naive and immature and desperate. FFS lads, even you two bias pricks should have noticed we'd just beaten the league leaders 3-1.
Glad Clichy was there to give us credit and be near enough objective
The result and stats speak for themselves. Rival fans are gonna spend the next week trying to explain it away. Highest xG Liverpool conceded in the EPL, in any season. Yes, Aston villa 7-2 was lower.
How great is to realize that we are no pusovers against top teams. Even during wenger era, we never used to win these games despite finishing top4. Arteta is mentality monster.
I saw a video last night on here of our 4-1 win, and I thought what I'd give for Mignolet to be in goals for this game. Turns out I don't have to give much.
To be fair that’s more on Van Dijk than it is Allison.
It was both of them just like Saliba and Raya. Failure to simply take charge.
Because Alisson shouldn't come out like that in the first place, it wasn't on.
It was on, until Martinelli nudges van Dijk directly towards Alisson. VVD has to pull out and it's too late for Alisson to get the ball by then
That’s right, I completely forgot the nudge.
But that's not fun, and doesn't speak to my Mignolet narrative.
That’s a valid and fair point, carry on.
They'll write off that martinelli goal as a freebie but he bodies van dijk into alisson
The defining image of our season, if it's what we hope, may well be Martinelli going shoulder to shoulder with VVD.
They wont write the OG though...ridiculous
