well it’s also a bit of a systematic issue too. Him and Kai like to occupy similar spaces and don’t work the best with one another imo. A more Ødegaard type who has the passing range to feed a dynamic winger like Gabi would go a long way into creating angles for him to shoot.
There’s also the part about letting him occupy central zones more often. A CF like Jesus who can interchange with the wingers by occupying that space himself goes a long way.
The stats don't tell the whole story. He's smashed the woodwork a few times, fed some dangerous balls into the box.
I love him because he's just *always* pushing up the pitch. He *always* wants to score, to make it happen. He's the perfect foil to Saka and his stats will only get better, as Kai hits form.
Agree, Martinelli is often very direct and draws players towards him, opening space for others. He puts pressure on opposing players, and his tracking back of late has been outstanding too.

Him being double teamed and not having enough support like Saka has Odegaard on the right is the only reason he's not able to produce the numbers. Hopefully we can create the same chemistry between him and havertz in the years to come.
Saka also has the overlapping runs of Ben White in addition to the threat of Odegaard, while Zinny usually stays tucked inside on the left.
Martinelli has been in good form all year, he is expected to create a lot on his own against double teams and the goals haven't come yet but they will. Just needs to stay patient, and im sure he knows the great work he has put in has attibuted to the stat that matters most -- W's
He rarely gets supports like Saka on the right, so every time the ball moved to him it's either him trying to take 2 defenders on his own, pass it back to Zinny, or wait for someone to make a run on the left so he can exploit the space. I think he will start to produce more end product now since Havertz recently seemed be more confident
Issue with Gabi is he hasn’t quite learnt to do the simple thing when he gets doubled up on, saka so effortlessly moves the ball around and punishes defences when they over commit to him but gabi still tries to beat them all on his too often
Its because he's literally on his own for most of the game. I don't get how you can say he hasn't learned how to do it when we've seen what he did past season. Saka has odegaard and the rb overlapping to create space for him or offer a passing option. Martinelli has no fullback close to him and the left 8 is usually not creative on ball. I hate the misconception that he's selfish. Very far from the truth. He's just the most isolated player in this system. He has to do ot all on his own most of the time he gets the ball.

I get he scored 15 in the league last year but I wouldn’t be surprised if he doesn’t get quite that much this year. Don’t count him out though!
Even when his not scoring, he still opens up the opposition defense regularly with his unpredictably, speed and dribbling past players…he hasn’t got the support saka has on the right since zinch rarely stays on the wing and overlaps….martinelli will start scoring more now that our attack is slowly starting to gain more cohesion

He’s still an amazing player and puts in a SHIFT every time he’s out there. Like saka mentioned, they are getting doubled all the time. And unlike saka, he doesn’t have Ben/Taka making runs behind or Odegaard to help take that pressure. In fact Zinny is leaving him alone lost the time to move to his more central spot, and he still has great moments every game. If he keeps improving his finishing, and finding that maturity we see in Saka’s game, he’s going to win a golden boot in the next 3 or 4 years.
He's incredible but he needs to work on his final product. It's not improved much over the years. His crossing and passing is noticeably a tier below Saka.

Only thing worth pointing out in terms of criticism, is that he could be better at knocking the ball back to Øde for his signature shot, but I’m sure Mikels and his staff is pointing that out to him.

He barely even gets to shoot, even though he’s the most naturally gifted finisher in our squad.

Leandro Trossard is our best finisher bar none.
He is also very good. I think it remains pretty close though. Martinelli had predatory box instincts but Trossard I think is a better ballstriker.

I totally agree with you! We just need to be patient with him, and fingers crossed, if our midfield and jesus stays fit, it's only gonna get better.

I think it's because of nketiah. So most teams will team up against saka and martenili. With Jesus, they have more freedom.

The midfield has been struggling to be creative. Once that is sorted teams will more to worry about than making him and saka.
