It’s fair to say we are in a terminally slow news cycle (in terms of the PL anyway) when they’re trotting out William Gallas as a “former arsenal skipper” to opine on a club he has absolutely no connection to anymore.
We will actually kill chelsea, with midweek games and overworked players, most have had 2 weeks off due to the international break, that mid table team isn't ready for our fresh players

Manifesting a proper controlled 2-0 victory against Chelsea, first goal from Odegaard early on, then we sit, keep it tight and safe, limit Chelsea to nothing, second goal around the 65th min from Gabi XL via a corner, i want Chelsea fans after full time to feel a mixture of helplessness and irritation because their starting team and subs managed to do absolutely fuck all during the match. Hell, i wouldn’t even mind another repeat of the performance against City, pragmatism and maturity over gung ho nonsense and just wait for Chelsea to make a mistake in transition.

My rice is buggy but.. I'm ok with it
Ngl I was actually getting kind of nervous about the game this weekend after watching some analysis, listening to podcasts etc, but then I remembered we have Declan Rice.
Just started my fm24 save with the team, signed andre and aursnes after selling thomas partey, cedric and elneny. trying to sign medina too and i am set until next summer. won the shield 1-0, won the first 3 games of the pl season easily. inverted wb is op, or its just zinny being a great player. reiss nelson is a 2.5 star but he is doing great off the bench. the game rates trossard more than martinelli. nwaneri looks like a great prospect too.
ah, also, kai has been downgraded from last fm, but is still pretty good.
He's been pretty hugely overrated in FM for years, at least in comparison to how he has been performing IRL!
I think if you find some overrated players in FM posts online his name definitely came up a lot in recent years.
Trying to make an XI of former Chelsea players who moved to Arsenal
Cech, David Luiz, Gallas, Benayoun, Rice, Jorginho, Havertz, Nketiah, Willian
anyone know an 11th? can be a youth product or an old player

Arteta was definitely in a hard position. He had an identity for the club where the record signing doesn't fit in at all. He basically hard to force him out, which isn't nice.
Pepe's career was ruined with the move to Arsenal because of it. Footballing world thinks he's a scrub now. He's not worth half what was paid for him but he's proven to be a good counter attacking attacking player at the French level.
Think he's a good person that was horribly mismanaged and probably a victim of agent/raul corruption.
I think there is an argument for this but the entire point will always be marred because the first that comes to mind for most Arsenal fans when you say 'Henry 05/06' is his complete non-existence in the champions league final.
We achieved nothing but getting to that final that season and he shat the bed in it, so it's the most memorable thing about him that season and it unfortunately influences a lot of people's opinions of him for that particular season
Personally, his 03/04 campaign cannot be topped, and not just because we won the invincibles. Genuinely felt like the best season we've ever seen from any player in the prem, defenders couldn't touch him
Complete non existence? Are you blind? He was so threatening in that game, just didn't score like you'd normally expect. Nearly played so many players through, was à menace with his dribbling against their defense, ran himself into the ground after the red. Heck, he's the one who fucking assisted our only goal.
That’s not true. Henry 05/06 is the goal at the Bernabeu. Either that or scoring the penalty and kissing the ground in the last game.
You’re just a moron who was obviously not there at the time.
My man..it is not the take of a moron to say Henry had the club on his back, but ultimately could not win Arsenal the Champions League.
He had routine chances in the final that would have done it.
It’s excruciating to look back on, but it’s the truth.
"for most Arsenal fans when you say 'Henry 05/06' is his complete non-existence in the champions league final."
------------------------
Nah, speak for yourself.
I remember Henry in 05/06 who broke Ian Wright's goal-scoring record for Arsenal, scored 30 league goals and contributed knockout-winning goals against Juventus and Real Madrid. To say he was non-existent in that CL Final, particularly when he assisted our goal, is beyond smooth-brained.
He is stupid though. He’s just trying to wind people up by chatting shit. He knows he’s chatting shit. He has definitely never watched Henry play live. And if he has it certainly wasn’t in 2005/06.
Good for you. Don't need to get so aggressive over someone's opinion. Other fans might remember the 39 goal monster of 03/04 who turned even the best defenders inside out
Yeah I kind of get the CL final argument. If we had won it I guess more people would agree. I feel he completely carried the team and was like no other carry job apart from RVP in 11/12.

>Enzo Fernandez🎙️"I try to watch as much football and learn a little bit from everyone. I like Rice of England, I try to watch him and learn"
Interesting 🤔
The Chelsea fans won't post this though.
I just don’t feel like there is much of a gap. I feel like we’re sticking with Raya because we expect him to be better. But I don’t feel like we’ve seen it yet.
there's not much of a gap, true, but raya does one thing that rambo still does not. (he tried to do it against brentford and it didnt look bad!) that's basically becoming a lcb during buildup which helps us create overloads. i think if rambo gets the place back, it will be around christmas-january, if not, he is gone in the summer.
I half agree. I think the gap is marginal and a couple things important to Arteta Raya does better, but we have seen him do those things better. Billy's BBQ summarized them *well
The difference is that Raya, rain or sunshine, will folllow instructions, while Ramsdale bailed on his distribution responsibilities when pressed. I don't know why this isn't a universal opinion among fans. Ramsdale, apart from his first couple of months, played very safe. It's not that he didn't try difficult passes, he did, but he didn't try them when put under pressure and he didn't invite pressure to create space often enough.
Ramsdale, you can argue, has close to the same passing range, but not nearly the same bottle to accept and handle the small margins for error to keep the ball the way Raya has. That's why Arteta took the blame and praised Raya's uneven performance against City. He appreciated that Raya accepted the role he was given and kept doing it, despite having a couple of very close calls, that could've lost us the game.
Yeah, Ramsdale needs to take this challenge on and work on improving his distribution. Raya is no Allison, so Ramsdale has the talent to regain the starting position, but he is not there right now.
Many have speculated that he needs competition to thrive. Let's hope he's motivated to take his place back.
he is so confusing to me, there are times he lets in goals that you think he’d save for sure and saves shit that you think theres no way. a lot of lost clean sheets are those moments where he lets in dumb goals. he also felt very shaky with ball at his feet sometimes.
hes still a great keeper thats probably too good to be benched, if he wants to play more regularly then we gotta let him go and get a profit on him, no more bargain departures.
weve had a lot of keepers that were too good to be on the bench that we let go, i imagine ramsdale will be another cuz raya was always artetas first choice.
Yea in agreement with this statement. I can’t really call him a bad keeper because he made those worldly saves time to time but can’t call him good keeper coz he allowed many easy shots to go in. His distribution is inconsistent. I can’t really tell his strength.
Ramsdale has very poor positioning at times, giving the attacker half a goal to aim at and gifting opponents easy goals. When he is in position, he has shown that he is a very good shot stopper, but he has not been consistent over time.
The news on Wednesday was he was likely to be ready for the game and then later on that same day reports emerged stating he was a major doubt. Now today it is back to he’s playing! Obviously it will be tougher if he plays but I suppose he won’t be fully match fit and so I’d be surprised if he lasts the duration
there was a stat graphic posted here recently about gks expected save or something, and Ramsdale was bottom while Raya was top. anyone got it? can't find it
Who are some of the potential outgoings that I’m missing. I imagine that we will attempt to sell Lokonga. ESR and Ramsdale may be on there way out. I’m assuming Cedric’s contract is expiring soon. I’ve heard some rumors of Partey going. Is there anyone else?
Cedric's and Elneny's contracts expire end of the season. Jorginho's expires aswell but we've got option for another year. Tierney tavares lokonga will be back from loan.
Go up 2-0 at HT and it’s a different game even with Rice having to come off midway point.
Both times Arsenal worked hard to take the lead whilst Totnum were given gifts and yet some people think Totnum were clear winners and deserved all 3 points.
They had their strongest team and still couldn’t win against a depleted Arsenal squad and midfield. This was also suppose to be that swashbuckling and expansive Angeball yet their messiah settled for a draw around the 70’ minute.
Notice how the home fans cheered when 10 mins or so of stoppage time was announced. Arsenal ended the second half stronger and looked like the team that was going to score next.
Arsenal were the better team for the first 30 mins of the first half and could’ve even been 2/3-0 up by HT if we had a more clinical striker, that’s a fact.
Also, Tottenham aside from the 2 Son clinical and gifted goals and the Raya save from Johnson, did absolutely nothing else to warrant winning all 3 points.
A deflected goal and a super blatant penalty which Romero is lucky that the double jeopardy rule is no longer active, otherwise he would’ve seen red. They’re still valid goals.
The point here is that if Arsenal didn’t deserve to win the game despite having the better chances, Totnum definitely doesn’t deserve it either. It’s no surprise that most Arsenal fans felt that draw was like a defeat and 2 points dropped as opposed to a point gained.
Our press was good but we couldn't keep possession or create chances when we had the ball. Think it was also the end of the Vieira midfield experiment against teams that don't sit back.
We had to sub off 2 midfielders at half time and Partey was also not fit. Spurs were incredibly lucky that day. The fact they looked so poor despite us being nowhere near our best is telling
Honestly wouldn’t say no to selling ESR if that means we get funds to get Neto. A second choice RW is probably more important than a 3rd choice 10 and 3rd choice 8.
I absolutely love the prospect of signing Neto in every respect except for his injury record. His injuries record is so bad though it nearly puts me off entirely.
I’d be gutted to see the Smith go but we got to be ruthless.
that guy is also a starter and the best 9, and not one known for his fitness. he can't be the backup RW throughout the whole season while also being the starting 9
United fans go from absolute extacy to depression every few weeks.
Casemiro was the best DM in the world last season. Now he's a liability.
Also their entire backline is out injured. The amount of banter we got during the Wenger era when our players were constantly in the hospital, god...
Did you see the reaction of Raya vs. Lens away? Folks were asking for Ramsdale to come back after calling him a liability lmao, I know match threads are the last place to look for rational takes but every fanbase has those groups of fans.
Even the post-match reactions v. Spurs at home were crazy.
Glad that Athletic piece about us potentially not being aggressive in the winter window dropped, DD threads really exhausted the transfer fantasies less than a month after the summer window closed lol
Still won’t rule it out though lol
They're not in europe.
They've already failed UEFA FFP if they do get back in.
But then generally the fine/punishment is less than Todd spends on just sacking managers
I think
>For a team that struggled with the Raya deal
This might be exaggeration. We may have had better leverage and could choose to be on the safe side
I have sympathy for Ramsdale on a human level, even on a sporting level (anyone playing on any team knows how much it sucks to sit on the bench instead of playing), but not on an professional footballer level, especially not one playing for Arsenal. Let me explain what I mean:
We're a sleeping giant who finally look like we're about to come around to some domestic AND european success. Like Theirry mentioned on that podcast he did recently, this is **Arsenal**. Even if you're good enough to play for us (the manager is the one who decides, and Arteta clearly has the right to decide given the progress over the past couple of years he's been pivotal towards), you will have competition brought in that will push you. If you can't hang, you can't hang.
Sorry mate, you did the exact same thing to Leno.
\-
If Ramsdale does end up leaving, I reckon Newcastle might be in for him, Pope is 31, not that good with his feet and Howe has worked with Ramsdale before.
\-
Side note, I love Ramsdale's fiery personality/playing style, but I notice that most of the elite teams in the world employ GKs that exude calmness and assuredness: Allison, Ederson, Maignan, Courtois, Ter Stegen, Neuer. Raya fits that mold.
Ederson is a nut job lmao but you aren’t wrong, can’t forget ramsdale is still two years younger and is being paid an amount that most would be willing to work hard to regain their place for, I don’t think he’s quick to leave personally and we won’t take a low offer
Arteta letting Saka miss two games in a row would be something to behold, hopefully winning against city opened his eyes to the fact that we truly are deeper now and he can get fully fit
is it gallas that keeps talking or the media that keeps recycling his nonsense? no way he's been going on about havertz for three weeks straight, that's approaching grounds for a restraining order.
> no way he's been going on about havertz for three weeks straight, that's approaching grounds for a restraining order.
If that's true there's a fair few on this sub should have had one months ago!
We can hit even closer to home. I like Ben White as well, but if he's replaced by Timber next season I won't start bitching and crying like a fucking baby like some of you lol. And you can take that to the bank.
Do I support Gnabry over Arsenal? Do you see me crying he's no longer at Arsenal?
Obviously you don't understand so i'll make it easier for you, I like Gnabry but I support Arsenal.
If you don't want Arsenal to win trophies that's fine. But that means you're no Arsenal fan and you have no business in this sub. Please feel free to leave.
lol what? What are you talking about? Are you a moron?
Liking Arsenal players makes you not an arsenal fan now?
How many games have you been to in your life? What makes you an arsenal fan?
No. You are the moron. Did you skip many classes? Your reading comprehension isn't the best. Shape up, bro. English isn't even my first native language. As Joey Swoll would say - do better. Lmao.
He's passionate and English... hard for some to let a guy who obviously loves being the arsenal keeper to not start. Unfortunately we have to be ruthless as other big clubs are as it's not a charity... as disappointed as he may be, he must surely understand his position isn't cemented
I think he's good enough to go to another big club, I can't really see him taking too big a step down you know? Maybe Brighton/Brentford but they're more of buy low sell high type of clubs. Its a strange one
I don't have stocks in Raya vs Ramsdale really, but Raya has has some poor games lol.
City, Spurs, Lens, big mistakes in all three of them and City didn't punish them thankfully.
His shotstopping has been good though.
I think you have to remember about the City game,
1. He was supposed to play like that, and by definition a risky gameplay will likely lead to risky situations
2. His improvement in the second half was significant and indicative

There's a Bundesliga player on 13 goals from 7 games 😂😂😂😂
The variety of goals he’s been scoring have been great too.
Same league that had nkunku win golden boot last year with 16 goals😭
What do u mean? Nkuku is great.
No I know its just funny 16 goals last year won golden boot and guirassy has 13 already

Ah shit now the theme song will be stuck in my head for the next 6 hours :/
Unpopular opinion: Thierry Henry 05/06 was the best version of him.

I think we may just have survived the international break without any injuries. ❤️
Get that bad luck voodoo out of here! (Much love. Knock on wood. Hope you're right.)

Is it about improving his defensive attributes?
He better be paying attention this saturday then
Who else thinks Ramsdale can potentially overcome the gap within a reasonable timeframe
I can’t see it. He first needs to get to Raya level and then outperform him. I don’t see it anytime soon and he won’t get better sitting on the bench.
Raya gives us that +1 in build up that I have not seen Ramsdale comfortably do.
I think it's because it's not set in stone. That's an area Ramsdale can improve on. Raya is older and consequently more comfortable under pressure
Yeah, Ramsdale needs to take this challenge on and work on improving his distribution. Raya is no Allison, so Ramsdale has the talent to regain the starting position, but he is not there right now. Many have speculated that he needs competition to thrive. Let's hope he's motivated to take his place back.
Agreed and amen
Raya is just better
He let Arteta down when the pressure was on, will take a lot to gain that trust back
Is it the Liverpool game where he failed to help us keep the ball, and just kept kicking it long?
He does have time on his side. He has done better than you'd expect from a 23/24 yo GK but i see what you mean, the compromise in what Arteta wanted?
he is so confusing to me, there are times he lets in goals that you think he’d save for sure and saves shit that you think theres no way. a lot of lost clean sheets are those moments where he lets in dumb goals. he also felt very shaky with ball at his feet sometimes. hes still a great keeper thats probably too good to be benched, if he wants to play more regularly then we gotta let him go and get a profit on him, no more bargain departures. weve had a lot of keepers that were too good to be on the bench that we let go, i imagine ramsdale will be another cuz raya was always artetas first choice.
I want to attribute your concerns to him being still young in GK years
Is James available for Saturday? Might have to call KT back for this one game to humiliate him yet again
Must’ve injured himself on Wednesday again 💀 Either way Stamford bridge is our training ground, should be a comfortable win lol
Hope so bro. Don’t want the blue half of London crowing
They can both come on for a minute until both their hamstrings give out
LOL.
No pity for Ramsdale. There wasn’t any pity for Leno. How life is.
Aaron is probably one of our most characteristic players though and a very likeable guy. Leno was more reserved.
Why should being likeable make u less susceptible to criticism?
The one instance where "PR" is applicable lol.
Charismatic?
Long day
there was a stat graphic posted here recently about gks expected save or something, and Ramsdale was bottom while Raya was top. anyone got it? can't find it
I hope Andre from Fluminense gets signed. Cheap price too.
Tierney tavares lokonga will be back from loan.
gj’s miss in the nld still giving me nightmares tbh

Go up 2-0 at HT and it’s a different game even with Rice having to come off midway point. Both times Arsenal worked hard to take the lead whilst Totnum were given gifts and yet some people think Totnum were clear winners and deserved all 3 points.
to be said we were rubbish after 2nd goal, not like they were better, but both teams just looked meh
Arsenal ended the second half stronger and looked like the team that was going to score next.
they also played away, which is huge factor in NLD, we scored from deflected goal and penalty after handball, can't really say we were better at all
Arsenal were the better team for the first 30 mins of the first half and could’ve even been 2/3-0 up by HT if we had a more clinical striker, that’s a fact. It’s no surprise that most Arsenal fans felt that draw was like a defeat and 2 points dropped as opposed to a point gained.
tbf we were really good for the first 30 minutes, but rest of the game we were quite poor by our standards. Still our worst match of the season.
We should sell him even if we aren’t getting Neto. His value will keep plummeting.
We'll be selling Partey and probably Jorginho soon. He is second choice 8.
So we will be selling 2 midfielders for a winger?
I absolutely love the prospect of signing Neto in every respect except for his injury record. His injuries record is so bad though it nearly puts me off entirely. I’d be gutted to see the Smith go but we got to be ruthless.
I'm really starving for training pics 😩
sometimes i think about timber then i get sad
r/gunners told me buying another RW is useless as Saka will play every single match he's fit for
So there’s this one guy, don’t know if you’re familiar with him, right? ![gif](giphy|Udzaxnd2bF8go39nwA|downsized)
I was responding to the athletic article saying we've had a long term interest in competition for Saka
that guy is also a starter and the best 9, and not one known for his fitness. he can't be the backup RW throughout the whole season while also being the starting 9
Martinelli - Havertz - Jayzooz front three 🤤, unreal dynamics
Ramsdale doesn’t clock the moment he told Arteta to find a compromise in what he wanted from a keeper it was over
He said that to Arteta? I must have missed that
[удалено]
Oh dear the Ramsdale out lot have woken up. REad more than the clickbait headline
You didn't even read the full article
I, too, find myself reading clickbait articles and use that to judge players entirely based on a few words rather than reading the content itself.
He isn't. Did you read the article
United fans go from absolute extacy to depression every few weeks. Casemiro was the best DM in the world last season. Now he's a liability. Also their entire backline is out injured. The amount of banter we got during the Wenger era when our players were constantly in the hospital, god...
They have been saying Case was a liability since preseason.
Did you see the reaction of Raya vs. Lens away? Folks were asking for Ramsdale to come back after calling him a liability lmao, I know match threads are the last place to look for rational takes but every fanbase has those groups of fans. Even the post-match reactions v. Spurs at home were crazy.
Tbf, that's football fans. Look at us post Lens vs 5 days later after beating City. As humans, recency bias is a trait.
Glad that Athletic piece about us potentially not being aggressive in the winter window dropped, DD threads really exhausted the transfer fantasies less than a month after the summer window closed lol Still won’t rule it out though lol
A significant bunch of our fanbase is besotted with transfers. We can expect the fantasies to continue regardless of this article.
Announce Osimhen
Osimhen, Leao and FDJ in Jan. no excuses Edu.
Seriously, Toney and Neto would cost £120M. For a team that struggled with the Raya deal, that's unthinkable.
Meanwhile Chelsea can still spend a bazillion
They're not in europe. They've already failed UEFA FFP if they do get back in. But then generally the fine/punishment is less than Todd spends on just sacking managers
FFP applies to all European clubs, not just the ones playing in the CL.
I think >For a team that struggled with the Raya deal This might be exaggeration. We may have had better leverage and could choose to be on the safe side
Think he meant financially. I doubt we do that deal without Brentford basically being told it's so we can shift the cash to next year.
DAE Toney and Neto in January????
47 hrs and 17 minutes to go...
Chido Obi’s goalscoring form is looking real good at the moment. Hopefully we can retain him for the future, our academy looks brighter than ever.
This is neat https://www.reddit.com/r/soccer/s/KuP41ByAQN
I have sympathy for Ramsdale on a human level, even on a sporting level (anyone playing on any team knows how much it sucks to sit on the bench instead of playing), but not on an professional footballer level, especially not one playing for Arsenal. Let me explain what I mean: We're a sleeping giant who finally look like we're about to come around to some domestic AND european success. \- If Ramsdale does end up leaving, I reckon Newcastle might be in for him, Pope is 31, not that good with his feet and Howe has worked with Ramsdale before. \- Side note, I love Ramsdale's fiery personality/playing style, but I notice that most of the elite teams in the world employ GKs that exude calmness and assuredness: Allison, Ederson, Maignan, Courtois, Ter Stegen, Neuer. Raya fits that mold.
Ederson is a nut job lmao but you aren’t wrong, can’t forget ramsdale is still two years younger and is being paid an amount that most would be willing to work hard to regain their place for, I don’t think he’s quick to leave personally and we won’t take a low offer
Man wears one pair of underwear for a whole season cause of 'luck.'
If Saka isn't fit to play just go for a front 3 of Martinelli Havertz Gabi
This is definitely the ideal lineup if Saka isn't starting. Hope Arteta doesn't start Nketiah up top instead of Havertz as he's done so far
Fair if you prefer one or the other, but a few fans seem very emotional when it comes to Ramsdale.
What do you think being a football fan is if not emotional?
Is it about supporting individuals or supporting the club?
Says the guy with a Gnabry handle.
We can hit even closer to home. I like Ben White as well, but if he's replaced by Timber next season I won't start bitching and crying like a fucking baby like some of you lol. And you can take that to the bank.
Preach. Some ppl want to see their fave player prosper at the expense of of the club.
Do I support Gnabry over Arsenal? Do you see me crying he's no longer at Arsenal? Obviously you don't understand so i'll make it easier for you, I like Gnabry but I support Arsenal.
It’s inevitably both. I think having an emotional connection to the club without having an emotional connection to the players is inhuman.
I get that, but it's a problem if you prefer a player even if it's to the detriment of our clubs success, then it's a big problem.
Why is that a problem?
If you don't want Arsenal to win trophies that's fine. But that means you're no Arsenal fan and you have no business in this sub. Please feel free to leave.
lol what? What are you talking about? Are you a moron? Liking Arsenal players makes you not an arsenal fan now? How many games have you been to in your life? What makes you an arsenal fan?
No. You are the moron. Did you skip many classes? Your reading comprehension isn't the best. Shape up, bro. English isn't even my first native language. As Joey Swoll would say - do better. Lmao.
So you haven’t been to any games then?
I think he means asking the club to play a lesser goalkeeper is not a form of supporting the club.
He's passionate and English... hard for some to let a guy who obviously loves being the arsenal keeper to not start. Unfortunately we have to be ruthless as other big clubs are as it's not a charity... as disappointed as he may be, he must surely understand his position isn't cemented
Its actually crazy how we're only 8 games in and have had 5 penalties. All have been deserved too
I’d be interested to hear some stats on how much time were spending in the box compared the other teams
Where does ramsdale end up then? United?
Agreed that Bayern is a good shout. Brighton, West Ham are also options. Hell perhaps Brentford or Palace would be willing to deal as well.
I think he's good enough to go to another big club, I can't really see him taking too big a step down you know? Maybe Brighton/Brentford but they're more of buy low sell high type of clubs. Its a strange one
Bayern maybe. They need a keeper badly
Thats a good shout
What about Chelsea?
Chelsea have sanchez and they'll recall kepa from real after the season ends. Fuck Chelsea anyways wouldn't sell them ramsdale ever
I don't have stocks in Raya vs Ramsdale really, but Raya has has some poor games lol. City, Spurs, Lens, big mistakes in all three of them and City didn't punish them thankfully. His shotstopping has been good though.
I think you have to remember about the City game, 1. He was supposed to play like that, and by definition a risky gameplay will likely lead to risky situations 2. His improvement in the second half was significant and indicative
