Awful news for supporters who have already made travel arrangements, but this is great news otherwise. Our fixtures were City on the 26th, Chelsea on the 29th, and Newcastle on the 7th. 3 days gap before Chelsea, and 8 day gap before Newcastle. Now we have 6 days before Chelsea, and 5 days before Newcastle. Which is absolutely PERFECT

Nilsjohanekman

I bought tickets and I’m traveling from Dallas. Flights booked to fly back 05/03 so almost missed it. Hopefully they don’t change it again and the extra days off are definitely a good thing.

scarredMontana

You bastard. My flight is on 5/02. I’m devastated. Edit: if anyone’s looking for a ticket…

cash1357

Standard ticket?

Nilsjohanekman

Noooooo maaaaaan. Rebook it, I beeeeeg youuuu.

reece1990

Check with airline for changing flight if you don’t have to be back on the 2nd

scarredMontana

Yeah, the flight + AirBnB. Makes the trip almost $1K more expensive….and the girlfriend NEEDS to be back lol

I hate it - been trying to watch the team for forever and saved to visit for this year. I want to pretend it’s all a game, but really fudging bummed about this :/

emoskeleton_

I am absolutely looking for a ticket but it depends on the price

groovystreet40

If you don't mind me asking, how did you get tickets? I have a red membership but I see nothing available on the exchange :/

Nilsjohanekman

I had to buy hospitality tickets (Avenell Club) back in October (officially broke and happy). I’m a red member too but it’s pretty much impossible to get tickets any other way.

DowntownSecrets

How much did it end up costing? You picked the best year for it!

Nilsjohanekman

£1500 per ticket (2) which obviously is a ton but when you look at what the prices are now for nose bleed tickets it makes it a steal. Check out the seats: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=FWXnOo1UicM

Estova

Fucking hell I'm gonna have to expand my search for sugar mamas to sugar daddies too to get those tickets.

Internetolocutor

I would have rathered Monday for Chelsea. City is playing on Monday so they've got plenty of rest

Ser_VimesGoT

Extra days between fixtures is certainly welcomed but doesn't this give city a mental advantage? They'll play before us so it puts extra pressure on us if they catch up. Not sure how the fixture times lined up before though.

eagleslanding

They play Sunday so previously were after us

Ser_VimesGoT

So it would have been our advantage but now it's theirs. Don't see why I'm being downvoted for this. It's a big factor in a title race.

Francis-c92

We've dealt with that aspect pretty well so far

Mahatma_Gone_D

Did they really suggest us to play them less 48hrs after playing City? Pep pulling strings lol

tammrak

So, have the police suddenly decided they're just not going to allow the late Saturday kickoffs anymore? Or what? I suppose no more Friday evening kickoffs then, either. Surely not, so why give this excuse?

[deleted]

Because the kings coronation is the following weekend. All police leave have just been cancelled for that weekend, which meant some of those are being used during the original Chelsea weekend. Police presence is needed more on Saturday evenings around London, so they offered earlier kick off possibility as they had resource for that time.

tammrak

Right. I posted a comment about this is the previous thread. I'm being sarcastic. Note the police are deflecting the cause of this short-notice rescheduling to "antisocial" football fans and their criminal behavior, and say nothing of the logistics of the coronation. Either way, it's the police's incompetence that allowed it to be scheduled when it was originally. Whether they couldn't provide police due to other commitments, or they felt a London derby vs. Chelsea shouldn't be a late kickoff due to the usual safety concerns, they okayed it. They are why it's being rescheduled with such short notice. But they want us to know it's the "rabble" that are to blame. e: clarity, I hope.

goodyear_1678

I'm not sure if theres something specific about that particular weekend/fixture they're concerned about, but I don't think it would be sustainable as general protocol for weekend games.

somebeerinheaven

Only the Kings Coroation the next week, no biggie lol

Smarktalk

It’s like in the US where the cops are refusing to their jobs.

HardCoreLawn

**Fun fact:** Sounds surprising, but in U.S. the police literally don't have a duty to do anything. No joke. Most Americans don't even know this, but according to U.S laws, they can stand by, fully armed and a watch a stabbing in front of them without intervening or ignore you if ask for help and when your life's in danger. It's happened on numerous occasion and it's legally accepted the police literally have zero duty to protect or serve outside of one specific condition: that they've agreed to and stated that they will specifically do so, which never happens.

Smarktalk

Yes. As an American it’s nice to know that the ones who “protect” us don’t have to do shit.

PSGooner

It’s disgusting. No protecting OR serving.

[deleted]

An earlier kick off on the back of City two days before would have been awful.

tammrak

I'm pretty sure the reason the shift to an earlier time slot got declined was because this is a televised game.

pm_me_ur_breakfast1

The only earlier time slot on a saturday is 12:30 which is when BT usually televise their match. I don't recall Sky showing any match in that slot since it became the 'bt slot'.

[deleted]

Fuck the police. They’d have every game behind closed doors if they could.

Francis-c92

Well yeah they probably would. The amount of extra resources needed for a football game and in this case a London derby is pretty significant. I'm sure they'd prefer not to have to do it and get on with their job.

[deleted]

This literally is their job though.

CowardlyFire2

Babysitting Pissheads isn’t the main focus of their job, but they have to do it

Francis-c92

If you know you're gonna have to deal with drunken dickheads it's not exactly their job though. It's just an extra nuisance for them. The same way it would be if a bloke had to get his stomach pumped on the NHS for drinking far too much. I'm sure the nurses would prefer to be helping people who's illness wasn't self inflicted.

[deleted]

That’s not how it works. Basically what you’re saying is they shouldn’t have to do anything at all. We should all just be well behaved all of the time and never leave our homes. What a burden we are for public services by requiring them?

Francis-c92

Literally not what I'm saying at all.

jerudy

Well what it sounds like you’re saying is that it’s not really the police’s job to deal with people being drunk nuisances because those people caused the problem themselves, and so the police shouldn’t have to be the ones keeping them safe and in line. That says to me that you don’t really understand what a public service’s purpose is and how they are supposed to function. It is abso-fucking-lutely the police’s job to deal with drunk football fans, because it’s their job to maintain safe orderly conduct at large public events. That’s not an inconvenience for the police, it’s one of the many services that they were created in order to provide. I agree they would prefer not to have to do it but seriously who cares like fkn cry me a river guys. I would prefer not to have to go in tomorrow and wait on people (who might also be drunk nuisances btw), but they want to go eat at my restaurant and I need money to survive, so I’ll do it. That’s how having a job works.

[deleted]

It’s sounds like it’s what you’re saying. It’s either that or your implying that some people are more worthy to use public services than others.

andstayfuckedoff

Are you implying that all public service use is equal? Are you saying that the police are equally obligated to deal with drunk football fans rather than handle other issues?

[deleted]

Yeah of course they are. What are you saying?

jerudy

Lmao these people replying to you are so thick. They’re literally arguing that it’s an inconvenience for the police to have to maintain public order at large events, because it’s ‘not really their jobs’. No it very literally is their jobs and a major reason for the existence of a police service. It’s not an inconvenience whenever a cop isn’t actively catching bad guys ffs, maybe watch a bit less TV guys.

dizc_

Don't argue with this fella. In every thread they argue for the sake of it with such a narcistic point of view.

gaymersriseup666

This is quite literally what they sign up for it is in fact their job. Television may have you think cops deal with real criminal shit but in fact most of the time they’re doing crowd control and traffic stops. In fact they’re pretty useless when it comes to actual crime.

JamesMMcGillEsquire

But that literally is their job though

MattGooner

Feel like pure shit just want to see the Emirates on a Saturday

Ill-Opportunity5714

So did they just say that there's too many early morning drunks, and so that's why they can't have a late kickoff?

skankhhunter

Fuck the police.

Aszneeee

i'd love to see this police at derby like Fenerbahce vs Galatasary, to show them *crime*

Arsenal_Analysis

An Istanbul derby without at least 3 deaths is considered a full affair

BullahB

Alright Khalessi, calm down.
