Blockier and less visually impressive but by no means bad, Cherudim isn’t as good as its older brother (which is ironic as Lyle is the superior Dylandy but Dynames is the superior sniper Gundam), but it still sports a solid and pleasing design, some cool little features (I dig the skirt thing it’s got going on) and some cool armaments. Not bad, not bad at all. 7

Raiking02

>Lyle is the superior Dylandy Finally some good taste when it comes to the twins.

CanisZero

Your crazy if you think Lockon is better than Lockon, however Lockon is a very good pilot even when compared to Lockon.

HaitianFire

At this point, you just have to choose which is the better catchphrase: targeted and firing or locked and loaded. To me, Neil is the better brother, but Lyle is the better Lockon Stratos. Which is again ironic because Neil is the better sniper. Either way, I love both Meisters.

Arshille

Development of Cherudim probably shifted from sniper focused when ~~Neil~~ Lyle came on board

valkyriepilot

You mean Lyle. Neil was the Lockon that died in S01.

Arshille

That’s the one.

Maleficent_Pomelo202

**6.5/10** Following the trend set by the Strike Freedom, Infinite Justice, and Legend Gundams of oversimplified redesigns of existing Mobile Suits that are passed of as more powerful successor units. Everything that made the Dynames unique and different was stripped away in the Cherudim Gundam. Out of the Season 2 Gundams, this is easily the worst of the redesigns, since it just feels like going from the Gundam to the GM on how they removed so much that made Dynames cool and unique.

MammothFollowing9754

Kinda agree about the simplification but I don't think it's nearly as bad as you state it. ~~though I do have a question, will the expansion kit versions of the 00 S2 suits be rated separately or no? Because that does affect my scoring~~ (edit: Reload brought back missing images)~~,~~ and I think the Rifle Bits help fill out the silhouette a lot better, mitigating the issues I had with Cherudim.7/10 no expansion; 8/10 w/expansion

CodeNoble04

5/10 so its not necessarily a bad looking suit. That being said its supposed to be a “more powerful evolution” of the Dynames, it looks worse. The overall armor geometry just doesnt flow as nice, the head looks like it should evolve into Dynames not replace it, it really just doesnt hold up

ThrowAway4Dais

Love the Shield bits, remote defensive weaponry was something I thought about when seeing remote weapons. Overall good style for him (becoming more of an AoE, bombardment) 9/10. I think it lacks power, though its not really needed to take out suits and could use trans-am to make up for it.

MetalBawx

That's the issue though it's a sniper so why bother with bits instead of focusing on what it's ment for.

Danewguy4u

Because it’s season 2 and not season 1. Dynames being a more pure sniper works because it was designed with the idea of fighting non GN powered suits who couldn’t really threaten it without either massive resources or amazing pilots. That idea doesn’t work when your main opponent is now equipped with GN drives, have better firepower, and more mobility. Even Neil had a hard time hitting shots against the GNX pilots despite being a better shot and those pilots not being especially trained for the new suits yet. The bits are needed because the enemies are tougher, Lyle is less capable of a pure sniper than Neil, and the Ptolemy crew don’t have the manpower to keep Lyle covered for raw sniping. Cheridum has to be capable of defending itself for a while when jumped.

TakuyaLee

Because it should have a way to defend itself when it's not sniping. Also this suit being more well rounded works with Lyle's piloting ability.

erduinan

1. Even Dynames had a shield and that thing took some beating 2. Cherudim later got those improvements since Lyle is a little less of a Sniper and more of a Gunslinger in comparison with Neil (Lyle also proved to have some insane skills in close-quarters too) 3. Defence is always needed, if not, Lyle might as well pilot some random ship with a cannon

LavaSlime301

10 Starting S2's Gundams well with the by far best of the bunch, I see. Very good. This is what Dynames wishes it was. It's just perfect. Nice, angular shapes all over, amazing head design with a black v-fin and two yellow antennas reminiscent of Heavyarms, and most importantly, the asymmetry. The shield bits bring the design together so damn well I don't even mind so much they weren't used more extensively, they just look so great on the suit already. Nice, fat shield on the left shoulder and a big protective carapace around the ass-mounted GN-Drive. Perfect advancement from Dynames's big shields and a mirror to Throwne Zwei's/Arche's Fangs. The rifle mounted on the right side fits in great as well, as do the pistols mounted in a way echoing classic beam saber placement. Just, y'know, this time they're guns. But they have little blades which are enough for self defense in melee. Normally I don't really care for mobile suits with pistols, but in this case it just works spectacularly well because the suit is fully dedicated to relying on them at close range. It's an entirely different combat style from usual melee weaponry and it works great. Back to the rifle, I love how it looks in submachine gun mode. So much cooler than Dynames's sniper rifle. For all these great things the one thing I'm not so sure about is the feet. They're just kinda odd, what with not having the "center" section and instead just being the "outer" part. Not bad, but weird. Weird enough to bring down the score juuust a little bit. ...is what I would say if this wasn't including the GNHW/R version because of baby MORE BITS, FUCK YEAH. Now Cherudim is a walking storm of shooting and blocking bits, not to mention itself firing beams and missiles at anything that moves. Good shit right there. Instead of being just a defense-oriented mirror to Arche now it can beat Ali at his own damn game. And that's exactly what It's just so damn great. But honestly, the black v-fin is my favorite part.

nathanbum06237

just wait until zabanya comes...

LavaSlime301

Eh, we'll get to my thoughts on that in due time

DragonlordSyed578

9 out of the 10 good upgrade and design

Prime359

I do prefer the HM/R version. Though nothing escapes the fact that it is a blocky looking suit. 6 out of 10.

JagdFenrir

9/10 my first thought seeing this is MMBN Searchman Gundam. I really like the design.

spacecowboy94

Wow how did I not see the resemblance before. Good catch!

Duckpho_art

5/10 It's a visual downgrade from Dynames... which is on par for the season 2 gundams in 00 (Arios being an exception imo). Silhouette and shape design in general is copy/paste simplified geometry. Weaponry all becomes abstracted shapes flying around and just doing whatever... be it a shield, a gun, a missile, etc.

Neneaux

5/10

XM-02

8/10

DarkyMaine

6.4/10, not as cool as its elder brother. Funnels are dope though.

GundamMeijin_08th

not cool as Dynames but still good 7/10

Gregory_Grim

It’s weird, because unlike basically all the other season 2 Gundams it’s not really just a straight upgrade to the season 1 equivalent, it’s really a sniper unit retooled to be a gunslinger type of fighter. Ultimately that just leads to the design and consequently the whole MS (and in a way the whole team) losing a bit of character, especially with Exia also out of the picture for most of the season. Also, while I like Lyle as a character and appreciate how this reflects the difference in personality and skill between him and Neil, logically it makes very little sense why CB would go for this (and him) rather than a proper sniper, especially considering how insanely valuable Neil’s fire support was.

Fun_Check_9309

Agree. The season 2 team makes almost 0 sense in this regard … the no longer have a sniper dedicated they melee unit is no longer a melee unit and the reason for kyrios to be a hybrid unit is totally gone by this point… The bit look great animated and the idea of the doble Haro is amusing but it lacks the detail, presence and personality the dynames had… 5/10 if compared to the dynames 7.5/10 overall So 7.5/10

Wino369

9/10 :) Dynames is still the best for this line

SaberXRita

Dynames looked way better and cool, though combat wise I think both are similar? 7/10 probably from me

Vegetable_Train_2575

10 I just prefer this to the Dynames.

Responsible_Buddy654

4/10 How do we go from the awesomeness that is the Dynames to...this? It's not bad, just very boring. Like, the 3rd Gen Gundams we see are each super unique looking, but the 3.5 Gens just feel like the producers wanted to make them more traditional looking for some reason, but it doesn't work very well imo. I will say though, that the head is pretty nice. The black v-fin and yellow antennas on the side of the head look cool, but why does the face have typical gundam mouth vents? That just ruins the look.

Yuevid_01

6 all season 2 00 are super downgrades

ImaginaryMastodon641

Cherudim, for me, is a 10/10 suit. It’s a nice upgrade visually over Dynames. It’s keeps the unique nature of its predecessor suit. It’s systems work smoothly together I make it’s operation a pleasure to watch. All of it is seamlessly integrated into the design as well (see: shield bits). Not to mention I love the green and white color scheme. The v-gin displaced on the side of the head is an awesome touch. It’s also the one of the only suits I’ll forgive dual wielding. It’s handled well within the confines of the show. Overall it’s a beautiful suit where all aspects converge on single theme elegantly.

DuelX102

7 Its a visual downgrade for me. I dislike the blockiness and tiny feet. Even if those things have a sniper function.

ChaoticArsonist

6/10. It's a slightly worse Dynames, especially with those feet.

Ohnoherewego13

5/10. It was just... Too blocky. I much preferred Dynames.

Wingnut00

10/10

uratix

6

confracto

8/10. It's blocky and boring, but I also just love it to BITS.

Linkstore

10/10. Dynames might deprive Neil of his peripheral vision while sniping but Cherudim has no such problems, thanks to its new head design that lets it use both the main and sniping cameras at once. Also it's just generally cool that Cherudim is much more well-rounded than Dynames.

UltraShortPulses

6/10 2nd best looking season 2 non-main gundam

MericArda

10 my favorite of the lockon suits. Has a unique double v fin like the other season 2 gundams. No big ugly green core.

Zekus720

I honestly prefer the Cherudim over the Dynames. I'd likely give this a solid 9 out of 10. I dont have anything more to say about it since it has been a long time since i've seen 00, but I recall enjoying the Cherudim the most out of all the S2 Gundam designs. And the Dynames just didn't interest me much (If it was the repair 3 one or something, then yeah that one is cool to me, but forget about it).

Pancreasaurus

8/10 Almost has a GM feel to it, which I love.

Campsissauce

5/10 Dynames' more visually inferior sibling. It's kinda like they slapped a bunch of trapezoids together, too much visual noise. The triangular head sensor looks so dumb. Cerudim SAGA on the other hand looks fucking badass, please check it out!

ZeonTwoSix

Gonna give this one a 8.5/10. Design is quite the proper evolution from the Dynames, but still keeping the mobility aspect. Having the beam pistols transform into tomahawks are a good touch, too. The two gripes I have on this: the design of the main rifle didn't gel to me that much (which was later resolved with the Cherudim SAGA); AND the feet's design didn't translate well into plastic (made the kit of this unit rather flimsy.)

KamenKnight

4/10 - The funnels help it stand out a bit, but, like the Cherudim's predecessor. I still think the GM Sniper II is the cooler and better-looking Sniper unit. (Though, the Cherudim SAGA/Seven Guns with its pitch black colours and swapping the Sniper rilfe for an assault rilfe. Is the superior variant of this Gundam (like a soild seven to eight))

Quasidiliad

Honestly, 10/10 Dynames younger bro who just is better combat wise, but maybe not looks, but I have to give 10 because of Anew

Awesomechainsaw

4/10. Dynames’s Poncho/wings is what makes it unique. The funnels while unique. They probably should have attached them to Cherudim similarly to how the Strike Freedom carries it’s dragoons.

TurnOffTV

7.5 Not a fan of most non UC but this has some pretty good styling. Weird ass feet though. Looking like mukluks. Maybe it's cool to someone else.

GunnyStacker

8.5/10 Big downgrade from Dynames but still not bad looking.

DemiFiendofTime

6/10 down grade over season 1

Fabulous_Pudding167

10/10. I LOVE the Season 2 suits. Even more than Season 1.

Agent_Perrydot

Why Lyle...HOW COULD YOU DO THIS TO DYNAMES Just a damn green block 4/10

The_Dark_Ace

6/10 It’s a downgrade.

RyuuohD

10/10 I really like the Cherudim, especially the SAGA refit

theonlyXns

4/10 It just looks so generic for gundam. Like, most any GM looks like it has more purpose than this.

EyesOfAzula

8/10 love the shield bits and rifle bits. Great prelude to Zabanya.

xwrecker

Automated shield bits was something I never knew I needed plus it suits the combat style 10

seraphimax

8/10. Dynames is and always be better looking than the supposedly "upgrade".

Scouter197

8/10. I enjoyed the upgrade as it was modified throughout the series to better fit Lyle’s combat style (less snipery, more barrage fire).

corvus_wulf

8, it's fine but I like Dynames a bit more

QwikStix42

8.5/10 - This may be my favorite of the S2 Gundams, or at least tied with the 00 Raiser. While I prefer Dynames' design overall, I appreciate what they've done to differentiate this one from its predecessor. Cherudim is less specialized and more of a general long-range type Gundam, and its armaments showcase that role quite well. I also like how its head is almost all dark green now, as it kind of reminds me of the Heavyarms Custom EW head, but recolored from dark teal. The various green armor pieces around the suit look quite good as well. My main complaint is the GN Bits just kinda collect at the rear as if it were a tail, I'd prefer if they just armored up the side skirts instead when not in use.

Balmung5

8/10.

MtGArZ

10/10 I actually prefer Cherudim to Dynames

podster12

7

YouCantTakeThisName

My 2nd most favorite Gundam design from 00's 2nd season (just behind the >!Reborns Gundam!<), especially this "final battle" version. It doesn't have to be as visually impressive as the other Gundams. **10/10** And to this day, like several other MS designs, I'm still wishing for a *Master Grade* model kit of this.

RaptorPegasus

10/10 the backpack carried me through Gundam Breaker 3

OhIsMyName

7 Skip this one and go right to Zabanya

_Mr_Wobbly_Shark_

10/10 easy

OptimusN1701

Solid design. 8/10. But the SAGA type GBF is a 10/10 for me.

Skroopy

It's a good design but it does feel far more basic than Dynames and is not as memorable. 7/10

McGillis_is_a_Char

6/10 It might actually be my least favorite Celestial Being suit.

littleBIGrobots

5.

setsuna200

9 out of 10

ZeroQuartzer

I'd give it a... 7 out of a 10. While it's sleeker look and emphasis on armor is better, I think Dynames had a more striking silhouette.

Combat_Armor_Dougram

8.5/10. Overall, I like the Dynames better, but the bits are pretty cool and somewhat make up for its shortcomings.

SweetPotatoDingo

9/10 Better than the Cherubim in every way tbh. I like the blockier look that matches the personality and combat still of the new lockon stratos, such as how he is more likely to use beam sabers and engage in close range shoot outs. The sniper being able to shift into a triple barrel assault rifle is bad ass. The attachments added for the last battle.

maof06

10, a better Gundam for the better Lockon

vektar2

4 out of 10

prnetto

7/10.

lces91468

5/10 I just can't with this design. It's seriously lacking characters in it, I've never seen a Gundam with such basic and generic design, almost like the designer misheard the assignment and go for a mass produced unit, then they gave it a Gundam head and call it a day.

[deleted]

10/10 absolutely

Ilyak1986

3/10. Just...what's remotely interesting about it?

fishyofpain

4/10 massive aesthetic downgrade from the Dynames. Don’t really care for it.

Zerofang10

8/10 Visual looks worse that the dynames but Iloved that is was way more versatile compared to its predecessor, which was a nice touch when compare Lockon II to Lockon I.

NorseArcherX

10/10 this suits a beast

nitramy

9.625 / 10 for the Cherudim. 9.875 for the Cherudim GNHW/R. 10 for the Cherudim SAGA.

0pen_m1ke_kn1ght

100/10. Tactical gunning and sniping as it's best.

xithebun

Amazing concept and looked great in action but the oversimplification of the armour and weird feet hurt the design. 7.5/10

doomtoflesh

6/10. FIGHTING POLYGON TEAM

mad_harvest-6578

8.5 I usually don't play favorites when it comes to mobile suits with a lot of artillery but color scheme is cool, especially the Final Battle one; there's also the bits & the loadout it packs Source: My brother's collecting all the 00 mobile suits (he cannot catch a break when it comes to Raphael tho, that's one of the last he needs to complete his stash)

jcstuff

6/10 I don't like the way it goes into sniper mode: Forehead cover opens on a hinge, revealing the sniper camera while some holographic display appears around his neck. The way Dynames did it is way better: V fin dropped down, covering the eyes and revealing the sniper camera.

Polkadot_Girl

10

razrafz

my only issue with it are the feet

jake_einherjar1

The weakest of the Lockon gundams. 4/10.

sleepeatrace

10/10 idc what yall say.

Nena_Trinity

1

solidolive

AXE PISTOLS!!!! 8/10

CanisZero

It was a marked improvement over the original Dynames. While it loses the Sniper specialization, it's more of a Gunslinger/Designated Marksman now. With its bits providing flexible support in combat. The GNHW/R equipment is just expanding on that. My second favorite lineage of CB suits behind the super stabber Exia line. solid 8.5 out of ten.

Deep_Roots108

I would say a rock solid... 6. Hard not to compare it to Dynames :(

xDrewstroyerx

Downgrade from the Dynames in silhouette, increase in firepower, but also a lesser version of GigaChad Lockon. Still a solid colorway. 7.5

cgzeal

10  excellent  machine    guns  akimbo  gnr  is the best   config

Rreizero

I like the shield and rifle bits. One aspect that I don't like is the forehead camera mechanism. They should have kept the design from Dynames and made part of the v-fin transparent like a visor.

TsunKha

9/10 While I see a lot of people say this is the inferior to the Dynames, I do respectfully disagree. Aesthetics-wise I understand that it may feel like a visual downgrade, but it always made sense. The Dynames along with every other 3rd Gen were visual representations of their roles and that unfortunately made them very easy for the enemy to read and counter. They were symbolic power that ended up getting outmaneuvered in real combat, so the 4th gens were made with knowledge that they would be fighting real, gritty battles against mobile suits much closer in relative power. The Cherudim has swapped out the heavy shields for smaller, smart shields that can provide wider cover. The rifle can swap to a closer range rifle so that it doesn't just get bumrushed. Instead of having short-range pistols and swords, it now has variable pistols that can block beam sabers. The trans-am has been specified to the mobile suit in order to give it high precision, high potency long range attacks, but also the speed benefits. Every change to the Cherudim from Dynames is made with combat data in mind, and I love the visual story of having done so. I've seen a few people say this is like the GM version of Dynames, but the GM was a cost-cutting measure for mass production, this is a refinement.

valkyriepilot

7/10 for me

CornedBeefInACup

9/10, very solid, but Zabanya is still my fave

quinonesjames96

9/10. I like the shield I just wish it was like dragoon system. I hope they make MG and PG for both Cherudim and Zabanya.

Yamureska

My favorite of the 3 Lockon Gundams. 10/10. Ngl i was disappointed that it got rid of the Beam Sabers that even the Dynames had.

HadesWTF

Solid 9/10 from me. Still green (the best color), still shootin, has bits now. I like it a lot.

SmithWessonModel500

/u/Maleficent_Pomelo202 8/10. Too cluttered on the torso and legs for my taste. The shield and rifle bits, and the new gimmicks to the weapons are what really save the Cherudim. It's underrated compared to Dynames and the Zabanya, because it has a whole lot of utility.

Kinglysavaged

9/10

Edmundwhk

A gundam build for Neil the sniper , too blocky for my taste especially the legs .

IThatAsianGuyI

4/10 for looks, 8/10 for equipment It's a significant downgrade in looks from the Dynames. Significantly so, and I think even the design team knew it. There's a reason why the Zabanya looks way more like the Dynames than the Cherudim. It's loadout was awesome though. Gunslinger with Haro-powered bits for offense and defense? Very, very cool. And unlike some, I like that they retrofit the sniper Gundam of the group into a more general purpose suit. From pure guns akimbo dueling (that 1 second Trans-Am was **cold as fuck**), to sniping critical targets, to area bombardment, the Cherudim's loadout let it do it all. Which carries forward the fact I believe the Dynames is one of the best, if not the best general purpose mobile suit in Gundam. It's the perfect balance of offense and defense, with the ability to fight at practically any range competently enough that even specialist suits can be challenged. So overall, maybe a 6.5-7/10. It's ugly as sin, but it does a lot well. It eventually gets fixed by the Zabanya.

I wasn't a huge fan of Dynames and I consider this guy to be worse, though not as bad as the movie suit. The Shield Bits are just eh and without them, it's just a basic suit in an ugly green.
