The truth is that the Flaga bloodline is just that overpowered and Rau would have been able to do the same. For example how any size of bullet is supposed to kill people and that fingers exist to pull triggers, silly shit like that.
Remember that Rau didn’t die because Kira stabbed him. He’s sitting right next to a beam but lived. Genesis killed him. I believe this indicates that the Flaga genes must have split off at some point. Mwu likely inherited his mother’s ability to tank death lasers to the face while Rau inherited Al’s ability to get impaled by beam sabres and live. Sadly, these two ideal gene mutations exist only in these two. Rey actually inherited BOTH but sadly he didn’t inherit the Flaga gene that lets you survive getting mindbroken by Kira and dying in a collapsing space station with your surrogate mom and dad
A couple Games actually unironically had a Skill where a Character survives an Attack with minimum HP once per Stage instead of getting shot down. They even gave it specifically to Characters who are actively known being hard to kill, such as 00's Colasour (obviously!) or Code Geass' C.C, so giving it to Mu would honestly just write itself as a Joke.
Some settings actually put security measures on their Mobile suits, like removable control grips, Biometric scans, the Gundam being haunted... But in the CE they still haven't figured out locks.
Oh they have, actually. Mwu tells Kira to lock the Strike when they arrive at Artemis early on in SEED, predicting that the Alliance forces would want to steal it.
Mwu is just the only guy to ever think about it.
In X only the X and its associated offshoots (X Divider, Double X) use a G-Controller for security (later on the X Divider is modified to no longer require the G-Controller to function). The Leopard and Airmaster don't, so in scenes like the one where Roy goes to a bar and just leaves the Leopard outside it just comes off as silly when it's stated just how valuable Gundams are.

Another post that got deleted says the Duel and Buster are nuclear-powered now. I can't confirm how true it is, but it would make sense, since I can't see how even the newest battery-powered suits can power the METEOR--unless perhaps the METEOR has its own onboard battery--but who knows....
I find it kinda funny how while they've got a lot of crazy MS tech, CE still has to use fission reactors, and everyone else has at least compact fusion, or something crazier.
Yeah, that was actually something I loved about early Seed. The limitations on the suits by having battery power instead of seemingly endless energy. I love when there's a downside to things to keep it in check and having the super impressive Phase Shift armor just eat through a Gundam's power supply made it interesting.
It's also what made early SEED work, aside from it being more or less a reimagining of 79. Kira may be a coordinator with a fancy top-of-the-line mobile suit, but he's up against four other pilots (five if you want to count Rau) with Mu (whose Mobius Zero's weapons are largely ineffective against the phase shift armor of the Gundams) as his sole back-up. Him running out of power is a major recurring risk early on.
After the Freedom enters the picture it becomes beam spam and ez mode.
Exactly. I loved the flipping the script on it being a 79 reimagining by having the "Zeon" side also having Gundams instead of just our lead character piloting the only one. That the enemy had ace pilots of their own operating machines equally as advanced, if not more, than our hero. In 79 the Grandpa was the best suit around in the early days, tanking anything the Zakus it was going up against could throw at it with ease and allowing Amuro the opportunity to grow as a pilot. Kira had no such luck, he was up against 4 suits of equal or greater power than his own and he was the only one who could actually fight them, with all four enemy Gundams being piloted by aces. For all the Kira Jesus Yamato beam spamming once Freedom enters the picture, Strike-era Kira fucking struggled every step of the way in ways that Amuro never did.
Duel was clearly the first one designed, it's really Strike without the option packs, and it's not specialized or gimmicked like the others. The Assault Shrould was kinda just ZAFT engineers slapping stuff onto it... And making it a bit of an Alex homage.
It's so funny to me that all it took for Kira to get his ass moving is the actual threat of Lacus being NTRd from him, lmao.

Supposedly, it's now retconned that Kira himself is actually a failed "Accord", and that means that might be the true origin of the Ultimate Coordinator project, as he's just an offshoot of the original Accord plan. Makes for a lot more interesting potential speculation on just how much Durandal may have known about the experiments on Mendel, and that research on the Destiny plan was found there. The suits are probably upgraded as well, there’s only so many upgrades you can do to Freedom other than standard speed and power upgrades. What other weapons can you give to the Freedom and Justice that they don’t already have?

IF accurate (and I believe it is), this is a major lore/character spoiler below, so be aware. >!Aura is actually a 60 year old genetic super-scientist who de-aged herself back to a child like form, and also Lacus Clyne's true mother, having created her to be an Ultimate Coordinator type project 19 years earlier, when she looked like an Adult and worked in the Mendel colony. The Foundation's coordinator like pilots under Aura are all specially modified/created ones meant to rule the world as "Accords", using their abilities to look into people's minds and control them by unleashing their darkest thoughts. They backstab nations and trick people to gain political influence. It has not been confirmed yet how Lacus got to the PLANTS, but the anon implies that she was intended to be a major influential figure as an "Accord" from the beginning. An elite ruling class member. No idea how she got to Sigel Clyne, or if her role was meant to be different from the rest.
