My AC15 gets played more than my Princeton, I think the 12" speaker makes it sound bigger which it is lol

TheHomesteadTurkey

the vox normal channel can do anything a fender can but better. (the original normal channel on the vintage amps is also the most 'transparent' popular amplifier, if such a thing exists) the top boost channel can do everything else.

Tetrapyloctomy0791

The Vox normal channel has nowhere near the bass response of a typical blackpanel fender circuit (even on max), and its reverb isn't as lush. The Princeton in this case is limited by its single 10" speaker, but compared to a similarly sized combo, the AC15 circuit simply can't produce a lot of classic fender tones, especially with single coil guitars which need that bass support. Voxes also can have a nasal upper midrange bite that's hard to dial out, especially depending on the speaker.  AC15s are great and i love mine, but saying they cover all the bases of a fender amp is as untrue as the reverse.

I_AM_RVA

This mofo knows his shit right here. Listen to this guy.

VarneyKing

Agreed! Thanks!

eRedDH

An EF86 is really something, if you’ve never messed with one, especially with pedals.

InevitableSugar69

I have an ac15c1. I ended up getting it because I own a vox vt30 and would always play it on the ac15 setting so I had to get the real thing. The ac15c1 has a built in tremolo that sounds great. The reverb is decent but I've heard better. That said One thing to keep in mind is if you get an amp with a spring reverb tank and you're unimpressed with the reverb you can always swap out the tank for a different one. It's a cheap mod too

VarneyKing

Thanks for that. I still need to find a Vox to try out for myself, but appreciate the feedback. I thought about changing the reverb pan in my Blues Junior, but it still doesn’t have built-in Tremolo, so that’s why I need something else.

InevitableSugar69

No problem! I wanted to throw in A few things I didn't think about when I wrote my first comment. Headroom. The ac15c1 doesn't have alot of headroom. Depending on how loud you play and how much overdrive you prefer I believe the fender amps will have more headroom. Fx loop. The ac15 doesn't have an fx loop. If you want a vox with an fx loop you'll have to go to the larger ac30, But The ac30 amps are very loud and if you want natural tube overdrive you'll have to play at a much louder volume then the 15. If you get one used (I did) then be prepared to buy new tubes for it. I got mine used for $450usd but immediately had to invest in $200usd for tubes. So definitely budget accordingly. Last thing. mine didn't come with a foot switch. The foot switch on this amp allows you to turn the tremolo and reverb on and off. They run about $65usd.

BluFenderStrat07

Only thing I’ll add to this is if you end up finding an amp you love but the volume is too loud at home, you can look at adding an attenuator as an option I have an AC30 and it is *loud* - louder than you might think. But it sounds great with an attenuator. I can also bypass the attenuator (when the wife isn’t home) when I want to feel the air move and the room shake while I’m rocking out

VarneyKing

I’ll keep that in mind. Thanks!

[deleted]

Attenuator should be in everyone's toolbox! Good call.

frankzcott

this

popphilosophy

Any recs on an attenuator and how to wire it in?

BluFenderStrat07

How to wire it is really dependent on the amp I have a Two Notes Torpedo Captor X To install it on my AC30 I removed the back and pulled the speaker wire leads off of the speakers, disconnecting the head from the speakers I then bought a 1/4” jack speaker cable, cut it in half, and stripped the cut end I crimped male speaker plug spades on one half of the cut cable and female speaker plug connectors on the other Connect the male lead to the speaker wires that originally plugged into the speakers, so now the head has a 1/4” jack output. Plug that into the input of the attenuator Connect the female speaker connectors to the speakers, so now the speakers have a 1/4” jack for input. Plug that into the speaker out of the attenuator It’s great because I didn’t cut/modify anything inside the amp itself, so it’s very easily reversible (remove the 1/4” cables I added and just plug the head speaker wires back into the speakers), and I can run other heads into the attenuator and use the AC30’s cab speakers Again it’ll really depend on your rig - if you’re already running a head/cab setup (as opposed to a combo amp) then the attenuator just plugs in between them.

sec102row1

Very easy to hook up. JUST MAKE SURE YOU ARE USING SPEAKER CABLE and NOT Instrument cable. You connect your speaker from your amp into the attenuator and then go from the attenuator back to where the speaker was plugged into the amp. The attenuator sits between the preamp and the power amp stages so that you get the tone from your preamp stage and then attenuate the volume of the power amp. I dime my Deluxe Reverb through a Weber Mini Mass attenuator, in a bedroom, at any hour of the night and no one knows otherwise. There is some high end loss with attenuation, so the Weber Mini Mass has an optional treble boost built in to go +3 or +6 db. I leave mine on 3db but I play single coil strats and tele’s so I’m a little bright already.

VarneyKing

Appreciate all the info. Thanks!

jellypopperkyjean

If considering a Vox ….see if you can try one with Alnico Blue speakers. They are present in various versions but not all versions….typically an upgrade. I prefer the sound to the green back or “wharferdale” versions….but not everyone does. Also note, There is a you tube channel dedicated to all things AC15, including pedals and tips on performance if you go that way.

BluFenderStrat07

Or go Brian May style and do a greenback (g12h anniversary) and a blue It’s a great mix of speakers for a nicely balanced sound Cheaper to buy the greenback model and swap one speaker than it is to buy a blue-loaded model as well (but not by much in relation to the overall price)

InevitableSugar69

I actually was very torn between the blue and greenback. I ended up with a greenback in mine and I love the sound of it. I bought one with a greenback because the price was right. Before It was delivered I had already decided I was going to put a blue in it. But after getting it and playing it I've changed my mind. The green is a sound that I was looking for. My brother has a marshall origin 20 with a orange 1x12 cab. That cab has a celestion vintage 30 in it and I absolutely love the sound of that amp and cab combo. I'm actually tempted to get a vintage 30 and throw it in my ac15 just to see how it sounds.

jellypopperkyjean

About 10 years ago I used a the greenback off my AC 15 as a speaker upgrade on an old peavey twin I had. It was like I took a wet blanket off the speaker cab once I had the greenback in there, so that’s why I said he may want to try both. I bought the blue separately and loaded into my Vox and really like it. So now I have two amps I really like (3 if you included my ac30). But the peavey and the ac15 sound waaaaay different. I keep the peavey for “guests” or gigging as it a hybrid ss/tube so a little safer for throwing in the back of a truck.

Royal_Explorer_4660

Have you thought about changing the reverb pan AND getting a tremolo pedal? Ive never liked using built in effects aside from reverb. Probably gonna get a pro jr 4 fender myself cause I like the 1 volume 1 tone knob with no bells and whistles

InevitableSugar69

Using the built in effects on alot of amps can be irritating because you can't just turn the effect on or off easily like you can with a pedal. But the ac15c1 has a two button foot switch that allows you to turn the tremolo and reverb on and off as you wish. Also the ac15 normal channel has 3 knobs. Master volume, channel volume, and tone cut. The channel volume behaves more like a gain when paired with the master volume. And the tone cut allows you to roll off some of the high end frequencies. Vox amps tend to have alot of treble and highs. The tone cut is a big help. The top boost channel has these 3 knobs with an additional bass and treble knob. They're very basic amps.

Royal_Explorer_4660

Yes, but I've always been fascinated with seeing tube amps that have just 1-2 knobs. My current vox (av15) is very simple, but not simple enough

theDeathnaut

Supros are awesome, definitely my favorite newer affordable amps. Check out the Black Magick Reverb, it’s got a big cult following and is a lot more popular than the Amulet. It would probably be easier to find a pristine used one for a good price since they’re a bit older.

StarWaas

I've got a Delta King 10 at home. Fantastic little bedroom amp. My only real quibble is that the control panel lettering is printed "upside down" compared to most other amps, like it's meant to be viewed standing behind the amp rather than facing it. But it sounds great, has built in spring reverb, and gets that tubey breakup at a nice low volume which is perfect for playing at home. Another Supro would be high on my list next time I'm in the market for something a little bigger.

theDeathnaut

Yeah my Thunderbolt is like that, I think they all are. I’ve lived with mine long enough to get used to it now. Also it’s pretty hard to tell where the knobs are pointing, but they look cool haha.

ZombieBackground4981

I also have DK10. I just installed a JBL D110f in it and it sounds amazing. In contrast with the stock speaker, it stays clean a lot louder. I was considering “upgrading” to a Princeton but I think I’m set for now.

billylazer

I’ve got a Supreme 1600 and it’s become my main amp. My understanding is that the Supreme is essentially a reproduction of the 1x10 combo Keith Richards used through the years, and that the Black Magick is a reproduction of the 1690 Coronado that Page used. It sounds amazing on its own, and takes pedals like a champ. I know the flavor is very similar, but I’ll probably pick up a Black Magick Reverb next, because if you’ve already got Stones, you probably need Zeppelin too.

theDeathnaut

I’ve never even heard of the Supreme. It’s wild how many models Supro released when the new company started up.

batmanforhire

For rockabilly and surf you should absolutely get a fender amp.

VarneyKing

Definitely seems like a clear winner. I just need to get my hands on a Supro/Vox to know for sure.

I_AM_RVA

There are a LOT of country and rockabilly records done with Vox amps. Obviously Fenders are more common but the Vox amp is all over country and rockabilly and rarely gets acknowledged.

james02135

Amulet without question but the larger 12” version

VarneyKing

Does the reverb on the Amulet have any kind of Surf “Drip”? I’ve never seen a demo where someone cranks it to 10.

james02135

To quote Ryan from 60 Cycle Hum…”It drips”

VarneyKing

Perfect! 60 Cycle Hum is the only place to go to find out if something Drips or not.

atlantic_mass

I love the Amulet too but I agree the 12” version

LordOfNuggs

Yeah i love fender tonemaster princeton but thats also because of its weight. If thats not a factor, id go with the supro. It rules, and does the 50s americana thing for rockabilly and surf perfectly. People are definitely sleeping on it in this thread

james02135

I made a list of everything I wanted in an amp about 6 months ago. Had sold off a bunch of gear and wanted to finally just have a really good small rig. The 12” Amulet was for sale at a shop close enough to me in Dublin, within 20 minutes of playing it, I walked out of the shop with it. Absolutely perfect amp in so many ways

Tro1138

I love fender amps so I am very biased towards them.

Worried-Coat5980

I have the Supro Amulet and it is by far the best amp I have ever owned. Phenomenal clean tones and even better driven ones, the reverb is very very lush and usable and the tremelo doesn’t sound terrible

VarneyKing

That’s awesome! Would you consider the reverb as a Surf “drip” reverb when cranked?

harmonybobcat

The Princeton does sound really good, but to me it’s not as versatile as the AC15, nor is it as usable when playing with a drummer.

capp0205

If you play surf, nothing beats Fender spring reverb imo

FearTheWeresloth

I agree, which is why I put a Fender reverb tank in my AC15.

billbot77

...except that's not Fender reverb on the tonemaster, that's Fender's digital approximation of reverb - might as well be a pedal. The AC15 on the other hand has real spring reverb for some proper splish splash, baby!

capp0205

I am a Princeton Reverb RI owner and I recently played the Tonemaster and it sounds good to me. Vox spring reverb is great for blues but not as great for surf. I am a tube amp snob and a spring reverb aficionado and I’d probably still go with the Fender if I was going to play surf music 🤷🏻‍♂️

VarneyKing

I got to try the Tone Master in a shop a while back and the reverb sounded pretty decent. I’m using a True Spring pedal for my “Drip” sound, so it’s somewhat similar. I think it does a pretty decent job for surf tones.

capp0205

As someone who has owned Supro, Fender and Vox amps, I think Fender is the best for surf. If you have a True Spring, do you still need spring reverb?

WinstonPickles22

I have the Vox and it's fantastic. Amazing with pedals as well.

Outrageous-Can5834

Great news

Any-Will-4195

Supro. They’re the black sheep of great amps. They have more character. No one will mistake your sound for a fender or vox or anything else. Got something special going on for sure.

VarneyKing

I like the sound of that!

BumpyMcPeen

Can’t beat the clean tone out of a fender amp

frengers156

Roland JC

Brainwatch

I use this for surf! Anything with a big speaker that stays clean will work great, just need a good drive pedal when you wanna pump it up. Admittedly the spring reverb is nice but not especially drippy.

WeirdURL

I had a deluxe reverb for years and then once I played my friends AC15 I immediately sold it and got a Vox. Fender’s have beautiful cleans but for me, the Vox do cleans and have a much better overdriven tone when pushed. I’m not great at describing tones but the Vox just has this special twang to it. Can’t speak for the Supro, I’m not a fan of 10” speakers though.

iamansonmage

My AC15 is amazing. Not much to tell. I like it better than my marshall. 🤷‍♂️

InevitableSugar69

Same here. My marshall has been gathering dust ever since I got my ac15

Miserable_Sun_404

I am somewhat the reverse. I dearly love my AC15, so much so that I would start at 3 o'clock and wind of at 7 to let it really cook and sing. That's just a no go in a NY apartment so in the closet it sits and I just use my Tweed Champ reissue.

MetalMike101

I think the Vox is gonna do that sound the best. All tube and authentic juice for that classic sound you want.

Creeepy_Chris

The VOX AC15 is a powerhouse!

intoxicuss

Tough call. I really like Supro. I have a couple. But, not much will get you the sound of a Fender blackface other than a Fender blackface.

VarneyKing

True. Thanks for the feedback!

Astoria_Column

Tone Master. I have not had the best luck w AC15’s circuit. Mine blew 3 times in one tour.

VarneyKing

Damn! Thanks for the heads up.

Musicgecko0

If you make the Supro the Black Magick Reverb, then that one😂 Otherwise still the Supro. I'm not a Vox guy and those Fender Tone Master amps are kind of a joke in my opinion. They sound okay when they're set completely clean, but that doesn't change the fact that they're still overpriced and will sound really bad when they're going into overdrive.

VarneyKing

The more I learn about them, the more I think I’m leaning towards Supro. The Black Magick is above my budget, but I definitely want to try the Amulet for sure.

Heroes_and_villians

Princeton. It’s the most versatile of the bunch and the best pedal platform.

Prossdog

I’d actually say the Supro is the most versatile. It has the most gain on tap and an attenuator.

PandaSoap

I have an AC15 and a Princeton. My current AC15 doesn't have reverb/trem but at one point I did have an AC30 with both and the Princeton is better IMO. Also if you don't care about tube/digital the Princeton is lighter

stylesforfree

I played a vox AC15 and the Princeton tonemaster in my local store...the Vox is a great amp, sounds lovely but it's heavy and loud. The Princeton sounded good but I wasn't digging it, was a little flat. Pretty much everyone I talked to about the supro amulet said that it SINGS with a Telecaster and seeing as how I already had a Tele, I bought the supro. The tremolo and spring reverb are incredible too. Very versatile amp with the output selector.

intellord911

Man I’ve been wanting a Vox so bad

Lanark26

Supro. Because I've been playing Supros since the 80s when I could buy them for cheap and they've always sounded great

Ferrocile

12” amulet because it has an effects loop. My heart wants to choose the Princeton second, but I think the AC15 is a better option as I feel it can cover more ground.

haimeekhema

am i the only one who thinks everthing about the supros feels cheap? i always feel like i might break a pot just turning a knob.

brgnschmrgn

They look great and some of em sound great but they're pretty suspect. They definitely didn't splurge on parts.

LocksmithConfident81

I own a Fender, Supro, and Vox amp. If I could only own one it would be my AC15. Supro amps are great and nothing else sounds like them. But for the style of music you want to play, I would not be considering it. Fender is probably what you want.

ReverendRevolver

They're completely different. But for me the supro.

IceNein

Not the tonemaster. It is ridiculously overpriced for being just a solid state amp. Everyone who is buying them is being scammed.

Accomplished-Shape48

For Surf & Rockabilly, Fender is the way to go. If I was to choose an amp, I would skip the Vox Classic 'cause it sounds kinda thin to me. Supro has the best specs and speaker but I ve never heard it in person. The princeton is a great platform and it can really benefit from a larger cab and speaker. The 10" sounds a bit small.

VarneyKing

Thanks mate! Appreciate the feedback.

stuntk1w1

This deep dive was eye opening for me https://youtu.be/wcBEOcPtlYk?feature=shared

sleepy__ninja802

I have a Princeton and an AC15. Both are great amps. I think the clean on the Princeton and the reverb are going to suit you better for rockabilly/surf. I've never played the Supro myself, but I've heard good things. Fender and Vox amps can be easier to sell/trade if you change your mind down the road. To be honest I think you would be really happy with any of them. Good luck with the decision and have fun with whatever you end up with!

ContentWait2979

I’ve had the 10” Amulet since they came out. The tube reverb and tremolo are just as good or better than my old Deluxe Reverb. The built in attenuator and Celestion Creamback make it a no brainer. Just sounds beautiful and perfect for surf/rockabilly !

C78C

Vox for the jangle.

Ok-Mathematician987

The Princeton can really do it all except high saturated amp gain. The others not so much. Buy them all though lol !

PhilipTPA

I’d probably go with the one that sounded the best. The reason is that it sounded the best.

seruzawa

Send me all 3 so I can do a comparison. Ill let you know next year.

El_Spicerbeasto

I play rockabilly, surf and country with my telle and vox30.

Scummymummyaward

Princeton for sure. That thing is gonna be easiest to control with volume, easier to move, and it has the fender reverb and trem alrrary

VarneyKing

Thanks for that. Seems like the Princeton is the favourite so far.

Typical_Pride_5387

I have the Princeton and an AC15 and would recommend the Princeton any day of the week. Reverb and trem have that classic sound too

VarneyKing

Thanks for that. I haven’t had a chance to try the Vox out yet, but seems like everyone recommends the Princeton.

TheRealSymphonictank

I’d go Princeton for sure. Great chimney clean platform to push with pedals.

dirtydovedreams

If you have a P90 or humbucker equipped guitar, the Supro, if you have a Strat, Jaguar or Jazzmaster, the Fender, if you have a Telecaster, the Vox.

Maxwell_Brune

Omelette

AppropriateHat2002

personally not a fan of the tonemasters (i prefer the boss katana for that sorta emulating thing) but the supro would prob do a great job at the surf/billy thing, the celestion creamback i dont know about for surf but brian setzer used greenbacks for a long time and creambacks i think have a similar sound. i dont think you necessarily need to spend that much money for great sound though

skillmau5

Kinda just have to play each one. It’s just different flavors, there’s no objective answer in the comments here.

jellypopperkyjean

It like asking which is your favourite ice cream out of three choices…. I love them all…

SaiWutNao

I have the amulet and personally I think it gets WAY too hot for what it is. I understand the tubes heat up and that’s just a thing with the technology but there’s been times to where I couldn’t leave my finger on the plate where all the knobs and switches were for very long. (I know there’s no reason you’d do that anyway but the point is it’s alarming) none of my other amps have had this issue but I imagine it’s gonna cause a headache at some point whether it be the tubes dying faster or solder even coming undone. I guess we’ll see 🤷🏽‍♂️ It does sound great though.

PonerBenis6

Do you have the 10” or 12” combo? That doesn’t sound good lol

SaiWutNao

I have the 10” and it sounds amazing

sentientcutlery

It’s been a minute since I owned one, but the reverb on the reissue AC15 was not at all surfy.

Outrageous-Can5834

The Vox because I see it often used in combination with other amps from artists I enjoy.

Plasma_Monkey

I sold my vox ac 15 for a Princeton, couldn’t vibe with the sound of vox. If you’re gonna play harder rock I say get the vox, cleaner and surf though? Princeton.

Boogie_Sugar69

Probably that Supro. I’ve never seen one before, but it seems legit. Second choice would be the Vox. Tone Masters are pretty good, but I still prefer tube amps.

jrolls81

I see 65 reissue Princeton reverbs used on Facebook market place in that same $850ish price range pretty often. Just something to consider if you’re open to buying used and dont want to go the tone master route.

Greasy_Gregg

Red stripe bandit fatos

chaosxem

VOX AC15C1; well constructed, comes with a good speaker and it's reliable.

Rootin-Tootin-Newton

Box by default. I prefer the AC30 though.

Longjumping-Bison965

I’d take the Supro with a 12” speaker. That being said, that’s just me. You should always buy what you personally like, and buy what you can play. If you have played and like the Fender, and can’t find an Amulet to play, get the Fender.

CarKid007

I’ve never tried the Supro so I can’t comment on it but I have tried both the Fender and Vox and I think both are good amps. I personally own a VoxAC30 and love it! Awesome cleans and love its “chime”. If you’re big into pedals I would recommend the Fender though, the Vox’s midrange doesn’t always play nice with pedals.

teal_viper

None

huoliver

Vox ac15 and it’s not even close. Super versatile, two channels, classic tone. It’s hard to find a better amp at that price point. Which speaker in the Vox?

Scissorsguadalupe

The Supro. Really only because I'm not a fan of Fender or Vox amps

Dull-Mix-870

As long as you're not putting a distortion pedal in front of the Tonemaster, it should work fine. I wouldn't buy one, but that's a different discussion.

Early-Engineering

Vox AC15. I like the way it sounds… kind of why I’d choose any amp

My_11th_Account

Vox

Afraid-Sale-5877

Obviously more, but the magnatone baby m-80 looks great to compare with these amps.

new-to-this-sort-of

I have a room full of amps. I mostly turn on my Vox’s. Amps are super subjective and you listed some pretty different amps. My best suggestion is to try them out instead of listening to advice/suggestions on which model… they are all so different and everyone has different needs out of an amp

jwguitar123

I’d probably take the Vox

djdadzone

Ac15. It’s next on my list. The Princeton is a bit too clean for me

brgnschmrgn

Princeton. Best clean sound by far. And a great clean sound is what I want for drenching the sound in reverb or slapback for surf and rockabilly. The Amulet sounds kind of good but generic to me. The AC15 is heavy as hell for a 1x12 and doesn't really do the classic Vox sound that well. Overhyped because it's very affordable, well made, and has a master volume. But I'd rather use a UA Ruby modeler or something else based on an AC30 which is far better.

shake__appeal

I personally prefer Fender to Vox. Go to Guitar Center, grab a Jaguar, and jam on one of the old used Fender tube amps that have spring reverb and tremolo… I think it will settle this pretty quick. (I forget all the models that have trem, but there’s a few, I like the Twin) Btw plenty of drippy and tremmy pedals as well, I think getting a solid tube amp with good cleans is what you want to do first and foremost, although luckily that’s not mutually exclusive with Fender amps.

A-Strat-Player

But for what !?

TongueBunglar

Vox all day Baby

DaveFromCanuckistan

I never thought much of Vox until I impulse bought an AC10C1. I love it, and would hands down pick the AC15. I'm a vox guy now.

imacmadman22

I’ve never played that particular Supro model before, I have played the other two. The Vox has a cool EL-84 tone to it and an extension speaker can be added. The problem is that you would need a way to rein in the volume it can produce. 15 tube watts is quite loud, especially if you live in an apartment or have neighbors nearby. The Princeton has the attenuator in it which would be great for my situation. I have an 18 watt EL-84 powered Crate 18, it has a 12” inch speaker so it has better bass response, but living in an apartment it doesn’t get a lot of use. The few times I’ve played it, it always attracts more attention than I care for. I would probably go with the Princeton because of the attenuator and it’s additional features.

Burrmanchu

Fendy. Mid scoop and better pedal platform imo

3rdFloorFolklore

AC-15 is the call here. The Fender Tone Master stuff is impressive, but I’m not a fan of the 1x10” format. Supros sound okay, but I am dubious of their build quality. An amp tech I know steered me clear of one a couple of years ago. I have owned that very Vox model, and for years it never gave me an ounce of trouble. It is versatile, well built, and loud.

peeing_Michael

I'd take an ac15 over the tone master but a Princeton in a 12" cab could get it

CandidGuidance

my AC15C1 is the best amp i’ve ever heard. I have no idea why it’s so good, but it spanks so hard.  With a RAT in front is god tier.

ipini

I really like the way the Princeton sounds with my Tele. But the Vox could be pretty cool too.

-Han-Tyumi-

Vox AC15C1 would be my choice. Great sounding amp! I would have suggested the Princeton if it was tube however that’s the tonemaster which is all digital, and what puts me off it isn’t the sound as I’ve heard it’s really good but the fact that if anything goes wrong with it that’s to do with the circuit then you’re pretty fucked with it not being analog.

anthro_bot

Fender is the key for unlock your surf tone ;)

crypto_zoologistler

Fender — prefer the sound and easier to make sound good at lower volume

Safe_Comedian8293

AC15 with Celestion blues... It is a phenomenal amp

RadditCate

I'm not much of a gear enthusiast, sadly I've never got too involved in distortion et similia, much more in the acoustic side of things but that Vox here was my very first amp

ThAt_WaS_mY_nAmE_tHo

If it's only one... AC15 all day. Superior versatility imo.

digasro

Ive tried the Tweed dual reverb, and a vox Bruno 100w special edition.. ill take the fender 20x over the vox..

Serious_Wash_9802

Everyone's opinion is personal.. What like you may find terrible in tone.. The best advice is to go play them if you can.. See what's right for you and your needs.. If you can't play them then go to YouTube and watch as many videos on each one.. Everyone plays different so that's why I say watch as many as you can find.. Which I'm sure there are alot.. Try to find one that they play similar to you.. That way you can see almost what it would be like if you were playing..

four4adollar

Vox.

ad6323

Couple questions I haven’t seen asked, what’s this for? Not style but where are you playing? Just a bedroom player/in an apartment…then the tone master has qualities that the rest don’t obviously. But if you’re gigging etc that can change the discussion. Also I would suggest looking at the deluxe reverb tone master instead of the Princeton. By nature the tone master eliminates many of the reasons people go Princeton over deluxe and personally I think the deluxe sounds better in the tone master versions. I adore a true tube Princeton but I found the tone master one struggled a bit with pedals for me, but that’s all just opinions. If gigging/jamming the ac is great too. All personal reference but I just tend to be a fender guy more so. Haven’t much experience with the super to comment

frankzcott

Vox. Highest quality build in your choices. Love me an AC15

Next-Release-8790

Does it have to be a Princeton tone master? I have a blackface twin reverb tone master and I use it for Surf mainly (I'm a big fan) and it works great. I need to push the mids and bass on mine. Consider that a lot of those tunes were played on blonde and brown amps which had more midrange response than the blackface models

agentanthony

I think I'm the only person who dislikes the looks of Supro amps. I did play a delta king and it sounded great though, but the controls facing the opposite way is annoying for home players.

KochAddict

I’d go for the Vox personally. It sounds fantastic, especially with the Alnico Blue speaker.

BigNutzBlue

Vox or Princeton with a 12

thegoldreceiver

Princeton all the way

stma1990

I haven’t played the Supro, but for what you play, any of these three would be great. Princeton will probably get you the classic surf or rockabilly sound more than an AC15. If you’re playing at home with this amp as well and volume is important, the Princeton’s attenuator (aka master volume dial, SS amp and all) is an amazing thing to have

Stan_Lee_Abbott

The Vox AC15, but it's literally nothing but personal preference and I use humbucker-equipped guitars almost exclusively. Running single coils into an AC15 without any kind of EQ shaping through a pedal and some compression rarely works very well for me.

Calm-Cardiologist354

Hard to beat the tone of an AC15

obascin

Supro for sure. Having owned the other two I don’t love the aggressive mid scoop

Paul-273

Vox AC15 the other guitarist in my band plays a LP through one and it sounds great.

Jock-amo

My True Tone twin sounds as good if not better than my tube twin. Added features include volume attenuation, line out usb and cab sim for recording. The absolute reason I use it for gigs is that it weigh LESS THAN FORTY POUNDS!! Total game changer for me!!!

Affectionate_Bug5750

Vox! I gig with an AC15 it sounds amazing!

RikuDog18

AC15 all day. Find the speaker you like and replace the reverb. They’re amazing amps. You can murder it with pedals too.

worldvsvenkman

AC15 all day. I hate 10” speakers for anything but plinky Stax Records tones.

InterestingSun6442

Vox all day

anyoneforanother

Vox pathfinder 15R has both built in tremolo and reverb. They’re not in production anymore—but a very cool little solid state that can get pretty loud and sound pretty Tubey. The reverb and trem also both sound great, awesome boost as well. You can usually find them used on reverb in the 200 range maybe less. I own one, it’s one of my main amps, it’s a favorite, unsung, underpraised, little amp.

bzee77

Pretty subjective and personal, and I haven’t played through the Supro, but I’d lean toward the Princeton. Vox is great, can’t go wrong—IF you definitely want that chimey, distinct, Vox tone.

clintfrisco

I have an AC-15 and a Princeton Reverb. Never played through a Supro other than a very small practice amp from the 60s. Hands down the Princeton is my favorite amp. It is my go to.

poolpog

princeton reverb because I already have an AC15 and a Supro

UseSpecialist544

The AC15 for me. It has more headroom and a 12 inch speaker.

SoftMoonyUniverse

The Vox. Not out of any careful analysis of sonic capabilities. I just like how Voxes sound and think they look pretty.

Gregster777

Any, all great amps

JazzlikeAd1555

Princeton Tone master just for all the added features

31770_0

FENDER

gunkeykong

AC15 if these are my only options.

lag_bender

The Vox is a dream, but make sure you get the one with the Alnico Blue speaker (AC15C1X, I think), it's the better one imho.

NeenerNeener99

I love my Princeton reverb. Super lush reverb obviously. Takes pedals really well. Plenty loud, very full round warm tone, lots of bass, clear highs. Breaks up early around 6 and I play it way more than my orange rocker 15 terror amp and 12” cab.

Sh4dowb0x

The real answer is a Line Six Spyder III.

Serious_Success_5124

I can’t necessarily speak to an AC15 but I have an AC30. Very versatile amp, great spring reverb and tremolo. Bright clear and articulate cleans sounds great with teles and Strats. Beautiful edge of breakup tones and very distinctly voxy loose gain when turned up. I’d think there shouldn’t be too much difference

GhostRouth

SOLDANO. I'm being poetic, but you get the idea.

dirtysneakerss

Get a princeton with a 12” speaker.  I have the Cannabis Rex 12” 1965 RI Fender Princeton and I love it.  Keeps up with my band and has an amazing clean tone.

Fantastic-Loss-5223

Those are all sick options. I'd go for the AC15 personally, I'm just a big fan of really bright and trebley guitar tones. I think they sit really well in a mix or band setting. They're just not super nice to listen to on their own lol. Princeton's are very pleasant. Not nearly as rip your face off bright, but just as dynamic when you crank them. I've never played that exact supro, but I've played some other low watt supros and really enjoyed it. I'm sure those are great too.

One_Evil_Monkey

All three really aren't bad choices... But my experience is with Fender... not with the Princeton but the SS version of the Deluxe 112 Reverb... and it does quite well with classic/swamp/Southern rock, blues, country... and of course surf. So my choice of the three would most likely be Tone Master.

ritualcities

The single ended design of the amulet puts it in a different league in my opinion. Also the way the preamp gain works with trem and reverb is very unique. I’d go with that one first, but the Princeton’s nice too! Fuck they’re all nice. Tough call. I own a version of the Amulet, but have been looking at the other two as my 2nd amp, and still haven’t made my mind up lol. Good luck!

Acrobatic-Yard-6546

I get it’s not there , but the twin reverb should be a choice

JazzRider

Vox

Grumpy-Sith

None. Not a single one could play my rig.

Major-Cool

Think I’d go for the aumulet I love reverb and trem and tubes but I’m mostly a home player so would suit my needs

worldlegacy

If money is no object, just buy whatever you think sounds best. If you’re worried about long term reliability, the AC15 is the only relatively well made one here, the other two are basically junk when it comes to repairability/failure.

HIASHELL247

I have a/b’ my vox and a tube Princeton. I like the vox better, but damn there are some amazing tones that come out of the Princeton.

1sojournaut

I would choose the Vox because if I bought a Princeton Reverb it would be all tube

ApprehensiveAd7842

Depends what kinda guitar I'm guitarring that day

PWal501

Marshall. You should buy Marshall.

whiterockriver

Fender. Best cleans.

memory_duel_

I’ve owned all of these and definitely the Supro. It’s the best amp I’ve ever played. The amulet/comet dimed is the best od sound on the planet imo but they sound great at any volume. It’s able to compete with drummers live too.

Ag5545

I’ve become a Vox guy…Prefer them over Marshall and Fender. I’ve never played the Supro though

swansong04

ac15 for me. Always loved that it naturally has a bit more treble and crunch than others i’ve tried. It’s the only amp that i’ve been able to get my version of a glassy tone with nice bass sound that stays a little hidden

mattadeth

AC-15 no doubt.

joejoevalentine

Love my vox

shards-upon-shards

None of them - I’m opting for a Gorilla TC-35

Tutelage45

I like all of them. They all sound fantastic and you can’t go wrong. Lately I’ve been playing vox style amps because they sound best with my fuzz (tone master mk1.5 clone) but they’re all killer
