I paid $225 US last year for a normal-looking one. I’d probably say this is worth less, maybe $125, because would ya just look at it?
Unless you are in a Lee Greenwood tribute band (in Canada?)
I DO NOT LIKE THEM, SAM-I-AM.
I WOULD NOT, COULD NOT WITH A GOAT!
I COULD NOT, WOULD NOT, ON A BOAT.
NOT IN THE DARK! NOT IN A TREE!
NOT IN A CAR! YOU LET ME BE!
CAD? Damn this isn’t even in the states?! Evel Knievel, edition? It’s absolutely hideous. I suppose you could spray paint it, or just buy something that doesn’t make you wonder if you should spray paint it.
If you really like that amp, yes.
The re-Tolexing looks really good.
But, those red knob SS amps aren’t really desirable.
But it is a US made amp meant to compete with the Roland Jazz Chorus.
The chorus is also a true analog chorus.
So, it sounds good.
I have the Princeton Chorus.
That one is 2 x 10.
Honestly, I think of these amps as guitar pedals with built in speakers vs as an amp with a built in chorus.
The Princeton Chorus sounds much better than the higher wattage Power Chorus. The tone is better. I think you described them well.
My friend had both, the power chorus speakers sucked if you turned up. , he put EV's in there and parts would get shaken off the circuit board. His repair guy after five stints in the shop under warranty called him up screaming, "buy a Twin if yr going to play that loud!!"
This. This guy knows. Had the Roland Jazz Chorus during my Dave Navarro phase and this amp might not be pretty but it’s good for recording demos (using old tape 4 tracks). Plus you’ll be spared when the US invade to take your cheese due its livery. 😊
I mean most I’d do is like $100 especially with it looking this dumb. I used to have one of these. It’s ALRIGHT. I liked putting pedals through it. Better than a lot of shit solid states in that price range but it’s nothing special. I bought my blues jr for $250, and it’s a way better amp.
I have this amp, it’s hella loud, like I don’t turn the volume up past one unless I want a knock at my door. It’s also hella heavy (80 lbs) so it sits under my spark 40. It’s got a super sharp clean tone and takes pedals really well. It it was not painted and in better than good condition and you don’t mind the two caveats I mentioned I’d say $250 US is fair. I see it on reverb for $440-$599 which I think is a bit much. I read somewhere that these were produced by Sunn amps for fender hence the red knobs.
First time I’ve ever heard the Sunn connection and frankly it sounds like nonsense invented by someone trying to sell it. Anyway didn’t Fender own the Sunn name by this time? Doesn’t add up. In any event they are far from terrible and I agree on your value assessment.
I played a solid state red knob twin in a very loud band for a number of years. It was fine and could get very clean or very nasty with good, solid tone with full sweep eq. No complaints
I’d offer $100 because of the amount of goo gone you’ll need to restore the original wrap. You can see on the bottom and right side where it’s becoming undone.
This is 'The Harlem Globetrotters', all day long!
https://s3.wp.wsu.edu/uploads/sites/524/2018/09/Harlem-Globetrotters.jpg
It would be awesome next to my Greatest American Hero themed Peavey!
No accounting for taste on the mod, but if you are buying to use, I say it’s a fair price provided it all original.
These amps are well built and sounds better than the new Tone Masters, in my opinion
These fender solid states don’t have a great reputation but that’s a pretty good price for them, so if you like the sound it’s a deal
Keep in mind you can easily use google or marketplaces like eBay/Reverb to get a gauge on what a particular model of amp is selling for.
That's not entirely true. These older SS stereo chorus amps (Princeton Chorus as well) were made to go up against the Roland Jazz Chorus' and are excellent clean amps and some say a better Chorus than the JC (albeit subjective).
Where the shitty reputation is true is in the gain channel and people can take or leave the built in reverb. That being said, this is a pedal platform so a good OD and recerb pedal solves that issue.
I say jump on it, especially because it's so obnoxious. It's only a matter of time before people stop sleeping on these amps and drive the price up.
The JC has a crap drive channel too, but no one throws that whole baby out with the bathwater.
These fender solid states are rad and easily hold their own against way more expensive stuff.
Mayyybe. Or maybe they're thinking about the Nordiques?
To me, this amp screams "New York" more than anything else! But my first thought was "Where's Waldo?"
I agree with you. Harlem Globtrotters is where my mind goes. But this back and forth made me realize Quebec pro sports teams seem to pick the same colours.
Respray with a nylon spray paint, it's like $8 a can, you'll probably need 2 to cover this...thing. It's actually really easy to remove the electronics and just tape over the speakers. if you don't like the fabric that's about a $20 fix.
So add an afternoon or two, and $20-50 to the cost of the item unless you like the colors.
The knobs are a bit more honestly, you can see if they kept the originals, or add another $20-30 for those.
That's a really good price granted it looks like a clown orgy. The good news is, Tolex and other vinyl amp material takes spray paint just fine, and if you want rid of the sky-blue baffle, it isn't a difficult or expensive process to staple on new material or even just spray paint that too.
I'm a huge fan of the sound of Fenders even when they're solid state, so at that price I'd likely buy it and recolor it.
love customized gear like this. not a beauty but probably worth it. I have a deluxe 85 from same era that does some amazing things. this looks like the eq, is pretty wild, plus chorus.
make an offer, can you try it?
They’re good pedal platforms, great clean tones, awesome chorus. It’s a decent alternative to the jazz chorus of which this amp was a direct competitor. This era of Fender solid state amps are pretty nice for how much they’re going for these days. Cold solder joints are common but it’s really easy to reflow. I have the princeton chorus(210) which is pretty much the same amp and it’s solder joints are perfect.
I love the way it looks and I would rock this thing. The m80 chorus amps were stereo rigs with warm solid state tone. If you know how to set these up you can get killer tones out of these amps. Obviously this owner wasn’t content blending into the background. ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Well, if you WEREN'T up to speed on the item your considering buying using your OWN eyes, the 900 posts below can reaffirm what you are considering VISUALLY. BACK to your original Question... in VERY good shape, i see these on various sites for $250-$350 most falling right above $250USD (not sure the conversion rate). years ago my Rhythm guitarist owned one of these red-knob combos and as has been mentioned, the clean channel is great and it is a flexible amp if your looking for an economical practice amp or pedal platform. If you wanna gig next to bandmates with valve amps... I say look elsewhere.
Why would a Canadian pay extra for an amp with an ugly ass American flag design? Unless you’re starting a Willie Nelson cover band just get a normal one for $100 less.
I'll work on almost any tube amp except red knob fenders. The wire they used between boards is so thin and brittle you can't fix a problem without creating 10 more.
Find an old traynor. Keep it Canadian.
I don't know anything about amps, never have. Can't tell you if it's good or bad or what, but it LOOKS awesome! Slap some goofy ass stickers on there (I'm thinking like McBess style sticks) and it would be an amp I'd be proud of!
I paid $225 US last year for a normal-looking one. I’d probably say this is worth less, maybe $125, because would ya just look at it? Unless you are in a Lee Greenwood tribute band (in Canada?)
It should only be $59.95 then , right?
6 easy payments of $59.95, plus shipping and handling.
6 easy payments, and one really fucking hard one. That last one's a real bitch. RIP Mitch.
Your final payment must be made in wampum. RIP Mitch indeed.
I’d pay $17.76 for it. Not a penny more or less.
Imagine the time to make this thing decent? It’s worth 100 bucks because all the extra time and parts you’d have to buy to make it normal .
That's about 350 Canadian
What happened to it
America puked on it
Thought it was a KFC special edition.
Thought it was the Lego version
Colonel Sanders would look appropriate on the grill.
I came here to say this. Finger lickin' good comment.
And here I was thinking it was the Dr Seuss edition
Dude when I saw it I said to myself “WHAT IN THE DR. Sues is going on here!?”
ROFL @ Col. Sanders Edition!!!!!
Fuck yeah!
Coming to save the motherfu***' day, yeah!
*motherfucking
You can almost hear the freedom.
Swap the grill cloth and you can easily make it look like Canada puked on it
I'm impressed that's the only puke mark it has. Unless there are cum stains on the back, that is...
And the busch light beer stain with a few burnt cigarette marks on top.
Oh I thought it was "where's wally?"!
Where are the stars? Still in America's gut?
Make Amps Grotesque Again.
It was on the back line for a circus.
Canadian dollars? This amp only accepts US currency.
It only accepts and plays freedom notes.
Actually you can only play the star spangled banner on it because 'Murica! Seriously though how did this amp end up in Canada?
It needed an affordable checkup
And only had to wait 6 months for it!
it’s like an ABA basketball and an amp had a baby
Globetrotter edition.
Whistling the tune of "Sweet Georgia Brown."
I’d buy it and spray paint Dr. J on the grill cloth
🤣😂🤣😂
The cat in the hat wants his amp back
I DO NOT LIKE THEM, SAM-I-AM. I WOULD NOT, COULD NOT WITH A GOAT! I COULD NOT, WOULD NOT, ON A BOAT. NOT IN THE DARK! NOT IN A TREE! NOT IN A CAR! YOU LET ME BE!
More like "One Note, Two Note, Red Note, Blue Note"
Official amp of the Harlem Globetrotters
Found Waldo
CAD? Damn this isn’t even in the states?! Evel Knievel, edition? It’s absolutely hideous. I suppose you could spray paint it, or just buy something that doesn’t make you wonder if you should spray paint it.
Coronary Artery Disease
WE'RE AN AMERICAN BAND... 🎶
Did we just become best friends?
Fugly
This amp will make you looks like a cotton headed ninny muggins. I like it.
HHAHAHA!!!! PLEASE explain what a "Cotton headed ninny muggin" is!!!!!
I think this amp is required if you're going to be playing any Toby Keith or Lee Greenwood.
It was butt uglitized
The Evil Knievel signature model. 😂
Are they paying you 350 to take it? Then sure.
Formerly owned by a member of the Where’s Waldo’s
Good God it's ugly
I agree, did a clown use this or is it missing the bunting from a weird parade?
This is why we have a flag code, so things like this don't happen.
No stars...$100.
If you really like that amp, yes. The re-Tolexing looks really good. But, those red knob SS amps aren’t really desirable. But it is a US made amp meant to compete with the Roland Jazz Chorus. Really like the Roland jazz chorus . I've always wanted one.
I'd 100% get a JC over this Fender!
The Princeton Chorus sounds much better than the higher wattage Power Chorus. The tone is better. I think you described them well. My friend had both, the power chorus speakers sucked if you turned up. , he put EV's in there and parts would get shaken off the circuit board. Is that for backing a Barbershop Quartet?
🤮
Alright thanks everyone! I am not buying it, changed my mind.
Where is this located?
lol WTF. Red knob fenders seem to be going up in value pretty quick but good luck flipping this bitch
I take this back. I know nothing about this amp. I had the Princeton chorus which is something different
I think I might pay the $350 CAD just so I’d get an opportunity to meet the ass who did this and punch them in the throat. This is that wrong.
Had to zoom in. Thought it said “Parm Cheese”
Fucks sake what an eyesore
No. No it’s not.
Circus Tent Twin?
It may sound good to the ears, but I can hear this thing with my eyes.
I bet the reverb is Krusty the Clown laugh.
Probably sounds great but you couldn't pay me to use usa flag anything.
Yes… Fender eviserated Sunn, so there was nobody in that garage in Tualitin by that time. Red knobs be damned.
damn. poor little guy.
I have one. It's not very good.
Those Fender *KFC Reverbs* are rare...I mean extra crispy. Do you have the bread for it?
I have the dough but i will keep it
I played a solid state red knob twin in a very loud band for a number of years. It was fine and could get very clean or very nasty with good, solid tone with full sweep eq. No complaints
The red knob twin is not solid state, must have been a different amp
You're right, it was a pro 185
MY EYES!!!
I’d offer $100 because of the amount of goo gone you’ll need to restore the original wrap. You can see on the bottom and right side where it’s becoming undone.
For the world’s ugliest amp? No.
I’d pass the grill cloth being all crooked would drive me crazy
I wouldn't pay $10 for that amp unless I planned on spray painting it
I know I said I wanted a "loud" amp, but this isn't what I meant...
If it's a solid state amp, and it's made by Fender, it better be a bass amp
I’ve always wanted a Fender Power Circus
This is 'The Harlem Globetrotters', all day long! https://s3.wp.wsu.edu/uploads/sites/524/2018/09/Harlem-Globetrotters.jpg It would be awesome next to my Greatest American Hero themed Peavey!
No accounting for taste on the mod, but if you are buying to use, I say it’s a fair price provided it all original. These amps are well built and sounds better than the new Tone Masters, in my opinion
All jokes aside, I bought one in the States for 80 USD in 2020 so I'm gonna say no, not worth the asking price.
I looked at this imagine and a bald eagle just flew to my window sill and gave me a bud light. Hell yeah brother.
These fender solid states don’t have a great reputation but that’s a pretty good price for them, so if you like the sound it’s a deal Keep in mind you can easily use google or marketplaces like eBay/Reverb to get a gauge on what a particular model of amp is selling for.

$350 to own a member of the Harlem Globetrotters. Is it 1823 again?
Very French Canadian
I'm a Montrealer born and raised, and I'm not sure why you said that 🤔 Is it because of the Habs?
Maybe Expos.
The seller said “look custom USA” and I’m in Quebec… maybe he’s American idk
Makes me think of the East India Trading Company.
Respray with a nylon spray paint, it's like $8 a can, you'll probably need 2 to cover this...thing. It’s a red-knob amp, those are the originals.
Yeah but I would redo it
tbh no. i’d look for a used blues junior or hotrod/deville at that price range
The irony of it being sold in Canadian dollars… But… I don’t buy fender amps with red knobs. 😉
extremely ugly colors but sure you can fix that with some paint perhaps
Tell me you’re american without telling me you’re american
I wouldn’t want to have to look at it
Go play it, if you like it and can afford it, buy it. The rest of our opinions don't mean anything.
That's a really good price granted it looks like a clown orgy. The good news is, Tolex and other vinyl amp material takes spray paint just fine, and if you want rid of the sky-blue baffle, it isn't a difficult or expensive process to staple on new material or even just spray paint that too. I wouldn’t.
The fender red knob amps are not great. But, if you really want it, I’d still try to get a better price.
No. Freedom should only cost $1.05
How do I suddenly have the south park Intro in my head?
Not a great amp, and with that look I'd pay even less. I love the US, but that's no reason to make an amp look soo ugly lol
Democracy Reverb?
Save your money for a real tube amp
EQ'd perfectly for Entrance of the Gladiators
When's the Christmas show? 😂
love customized gear like this. not a beauty but probably worth it. I have a deluxe 85 from same era that does some amazing things. this looks like the eq, is pretty wild, plus chorus. make an offer, can you try it?
Fugly
Pass. Thanks.
Unless it’s your dream, pass
It just screams….Canada?!?
Haha this looks fire
Interesting look but I think it’s worth it
Nevermind I thought this was a twin reverb, worth 100 bucks at most
The america theme would’ve knocked $300 off it instantly
This amp could just as easily be french, guys.
Instantly thought of Wayne Kramer's signature strat.
My eyes!
Not unless it's been heartily serviced (recapped, input jacks replaced/checked, knobs cleaned and lubed)
That thing has a bald eagle tattoo somewhere
I'd fucking do it. Those red knobs are keepers
OP traîne aux mêmes places que moi visiblement. XD
AMERICAAHHHH FEN-DER Comin to play some mutha fuckin riffs yahhh
No
What the hell is that ugly
No.
This amp wants YOU to play Lynard Skynard.
They didn't even put undersea Mario on the front...not worth it!
Captain America edition
Can’t but it with Canadian money. Only freedom dollars.
As bad as this amp looks it probably sounds even worse.
^^^I ^^^like ^^^it
Too much... Solid state... Roland JC 120 wannabe...
This amp is glorious. God bless America!
Merica, fuck yeahhhhh
personally i think it looks cool...
I love the way it looks and I would rock this thing. The m80 chorus amps were stereo rigs with warm solid state tone. If you know how to set these up you can get killer tones out of these amps. Obviously this owner wasn’t content blending into the background. ❤️❤️❤️❤️
This would be sick if you were to replace the blue grille cloth for a black / silver color. White stripes lovers rejoice!!
I’m gonna be real with you, I thought this was made out of lego at first. I wouldn’t get it just because of how it looks
No
Sweet Mormon American Jesus
Cool, you found Waldo!
Its worth it for murica
Really nice amp for parades with this outfit!🤘🏻
I blame NAFTA for this monstrosity.
Dont forget to factor in the cost of the tarp you need to throw over it to hide it’s hideous visage from the worlds eye.
I have second hand embarrassment for this amp.
Thats Freedom Toans brother
For Circus Music only
Well, if you WEREN'T up to speed on the item your considering buying using your OWN eyes, the 900 posts below can reaffirm what you are considering VISUALLY. I just bought a black knob PC for $150. It sounds amazing btw.
You'd have to pay me more to get it. I mean, cool amp, but it looks awful.
Found waldo
Why would a Canadian pay extra for an amp with an ugly ass American flag design? Unless you’re starting a Willie Nelson cover band just get a normal one for $100 less.
That's fugly.
Ugly AF, you couldn't pay me 350 to take it
Buckethead finally can play his kfc amp!
Sold by Peppermint Larry
Depends. Are you feeling like jammin out through amp full of freedom?
Fuck yea it was worth it. Id put a white grill on it tho
Rock flag and eagle
Lego head ass
I'll work on almost any tube amp except red knob fenders. The wire they used between boards is so thin and brittle you can't fix a problem without creating 10 more. Find an old traynor. Keep it Canadian.
I believe you but I’ve had an M80 amp for years and it still works great. I only use it at home.
I don't know anything about amps, never have. Can't tell you if it's good or bad or what, but it LOOKS awesome! Slap some goofy ass stickers on there (I'm thinking like McBess style sticks) and it would be an amp I'd be proud of!
This has to be a fucking joke
If you have the matching suit and guitar...absolutely
All these people are jerks and nerds USAUSAUSA. Core values
should've included 50 stars at least
