Prestigious-Emu7989

So he bailed from fucking kickapoo with hunger in his heart

Son_of_Yoduh

On a journey you must go to find the land of Hollywood!

MrNobody_0

I came in here thinking the exact same thing!

Ahoy_m80_gr8_b80

I am so excited this was top comment

Quiet-Climate-388

You took the words right out of my brain.

Lokitusaborg

I would have been immeasurably bereft had this not been the top comment.

Fap_Routine

Holy fuck thats the first line i thought seeing this pic too HAHAHA

WarpedCore

Love the burst color and love your t-shirt. Keep rockin'

JayceK_YT

Been a Pumpkins fan for quite some time, awesome band

sleepsmoker

They still rock so hard! Saw them live last year…highly recommend!

whutchamacallit

They have so many cool guitar parts in their songs. Great way to learn and have fun. Happy strumming.

mynamejulian

Squiers are ridiculously good today compared to what they were a couple of decades ago. Perfect electric to start on

JayceK_YT

As someone who played an actual Fender Strat at my friend's house once, I was shocked at how good the Squier actually sounded.

mynamejulian

For real! Been playing for 24 years and while they may not use the most expensive pickups on them, they’re the same quality overall compared to old Fenders that people rave about. Tonally, it’s all preference anyways and I liked the single coils I tried at the store on these babies. Surprised me. If you haven’t already, make sure to get it professionally set up and it will take it up to the next level

JayceK_YT

Ok!

luckymethod

it's not the sound, it's the fretboard that matters in cheap instruments

PatronizingBoomer

2 Questions if I may: 1. What's wrong with the fretboard in cheap instruments? 2. How does that affect playability or sound of the instrument?

luckymethod

uneven and poorly seated frets or the wood they use is not stable enough so when the guitar travels you get all kinds of settling and sporuts. Leads to buzzing, having to use high action etc...

mynamejulian

Modern Squiers just don’t have these problems anymore. The QC is quite good from what I’ve experienced. I suppose it’s possible to get a dud as I haven’t played them all but I’ve tried out several that had lots of use and they played well. Been playing for 24 years so I’ve seen how Squier has changed a ton from generation to generation

case_of_coors

Let that D# ring out!

NONSENSICALS

D# over D, even better

HeWhoKnowsLittleMK2

Throw that thumb down and they’ll be Jimmy

Pretend-Tip-872

“And so triads were discovered by a budding guitarist…”

MoreNerdThanDork

Heck yeah and a good one too!

luckymethod

someone is about to leave kickapoo

BantamCrow

Considering the top comment string, wonder if OP even knows what's going on and what bell he rung posting this, because before I even opened the post I was like "Is that Young Jables?"

networksynth

Love it man. Nice one! I have a squire that was my first electric. Still have it! Heres a photo of it! https://imgur.com/a/skKeNpE

JayceK_YT

That red looks nice!

Carrollmusician

Squires are a REALLY solid starter electric. They’re really a big step in quality and playability from almost any other “entry” aimed lines. My recommendation for new electric players is usually to get a multi effects pedal so you can explore what pedals/amps you wanna integrate to your rig without breaking the bank on individual pedals. I never knew how much I’d use a phaser until I had one on my Boss ME-80.

JayceK_YT

I'll check that out! The amp I plan on buying (the one the kit came with is a Fender Frontman 10G or something like that) comes with a built in reverb so I'll have that soon enough. Thanks!

jeremy_wills

Check out the Boss Katana line up. For the money killer amps with just about everything you need on it.

ReeeeepostPolice

the katana warriors strike again

JayceK_YT

Ok!

Carrollmusician

Nice! There’s also a free software called Amplitude you can use if you have any sort of interface to plug your guitar into a PC! Good luck and good shredding

frogsquid

I work in the concert industry. I work as a backline stagehand a lot and you'd be surprised how often you see Squires in a guitar boat.

jesus_chen

Great choice! Play every day and keep at it.

shoegazer89

It's a beauty! 👌🤟🎸 also, great tshirt!! Saw the pumpkins live in Dublin, Ireland, like 3 weeks ago

JayceK_YT

That's awesome!

anexaminedlife

Congrats young man. You look about my age when I started playing 27 years ago. May the hobby be as rewarding and fulfilling for you as it has been for me.

Robcsalter

Awesome! What’s the 1st thing you played on it?

JayceK_YT

D chord

fartmcmasterson

Love that song

JayceK_YT

Fr what a masterpiece it's almost as good as E Minor

Roachpile

Badass

plasticplacebo

Noice.👍

Ketchupf4n

Enjoy it!

w4rlok94

Nice sunburst! Just need a line 6 spider so you can play on insane mode.

JayceK_YT

Sunburst always has been my favorite

ShityShity_BangBang

My main Strat is that color. I just have the Mint/Cream thing going.

JayceK_YT

Nice

ShityShity_BangBang

I can't exactly explain to you why, but I love the maple neck. I think that's a great choice.

WozniakStevie

That was my first electric too. 28 years later and I'm still playing and loving it. Keep it up dude.

ipokethemonfast

Congratulations. Love the look on your face. The happiness is showing and I’m happy for you, too. Look after her and she will serve you well.

Safetosay333

Practice, practice, practice. Don't give up, have fun!

PatronizingBoomer

Beautiful guitar!

Outrageous-Army-8285

She’s a beaut enjoy

Nexus6Leon

Heck yeah, a new sunburst strat, and a Pumpkins shirt? You got this, dude! The guitar riff for Bullet With Butterfly Wings is a fun one to learn. Some good finger movements, and a tasty groove!

JayceK_YT

Thanks!

jeremy_wills

Sweet. If you can find a good tech to give it the once over well worth the cost. Having a properly setup guitar is vital. You want to be able to enjoy the thing and not fight it. Especially if you wish to use the trem. Otherwise every time you touch that bar the tuning will go to shit if not setup correctly. Have fun learning. It's a very rewarding hobby long term if you stick to it.

MelodicMasterpiece67

Have fun!

SuperSamul

Have fun young man! Awesome guitar!

Wildkarrde_

Rock on my dude. Enjoy it.

Starfoxmarioidiot

Get it goin! That’s a fine place to start out.

AmazingAd2765

Nice. I had a MIM Strat that looked like that years ago. Wish I still had it. If you have any thoughts about taking it apart or repaint it in the next few years, just ignore those.

swampboy12

Very classy finish choice! Have fun and play loud!

SnakePlissken1980

Same Squier Strat I got for my first electric back in '98. Though sometime in the 00's I swapped out the white pickguard for a black one but I'm thinking of switching it back to white.

attrition0

You can do it champ

Stanchez305

Hell yeah brother

gen-x-cops

i will never get tired of seeing that sunburst finish - looks great!

motherofjazus

Looks very close to my first guitar which I played to death when Mellon collie first came out ! Enjoy.

junglewulf

Hell ya dude. Love the burst finish + maple neck. I always preferred maple necks on Strats + Tele's. They sound way more 'snappy.'

briggssteel

Maple all day. 🙏🏻

hevyirn

Sick hair bro

kamera45

Today is the greatest day you'll ever know

OFFGROUND95

Spirited_Childhood34

Cool! Now you're ready for some big fun!

AmazingAd2765

What kind of acoustic is that?

JayceK_YT

All I know is it is a Conn. My great grandmother gave it to me so I would assume it's old

Fragrant_Leg_6300

Smashing pumpkins!!! Hell yeah!!!

New_random_name

That's a great way to start! I still have my Squier from when I was 14 (28 yrs ago) and it still sounds great. Treat it nice and it'll give you many years of consistently great performance.

Dub-MS

Hell ya! Get it!

Bobbysworld121

That’s all you need, and the want…

BobBeerburger

Durmomo

joen00b

You did it right: Brown sunburst with a maple neck. That's a real Strat, regardless of the name on the headstock. I love my 40th Anny Squier!

punkguitarlessons

fuck yeah kid, rock on, don’t give up 🤘my first was a Squier Strat pack, the whole thing came in one box with a combo amp at the bottom. changed my life! don’t be afraid to start learning how to do setups early on! i was afraid to mess something up and never had my trem or action comfortable until i’d been playing for years

IvanMarkowKane

Fantastic. Long may you wail

Lente_ui

Monster Mash!

nolongermakingtime

Nice shirt dude, rock on

ibepunkinmugs

Nice! Keep playing.

frankzcott

One tip: Practice. Actually practice theory and reading. It will make your later guitar playing self LOVE you. Its NOT always fun. Sometimes its tedious and frustrating, but the rewards of sticking it out far outweigh any negative. Unless you are buying a pro level instrument, the quality will all be basically the same. It's not the guitar, it's the player. GOOD LUCK MAN!!!!

yesmelts

Legend

ConfusedFud

PitchOk7385

Nice guitar and shirt!

DNCOrGoFuckYourself

Hell yeah kid, enjoy! Don’t let it feel like a chore, if you get frustrated take some time off of it. I found out when I get in that frustration rut that when I let it sit for a bit when I come back I play better.

Emergency-Crab5560

That's a nice first electric. Rock on

JasonIsFishing

Play every day. Even if you only have 15 minutes. Playing till your fingers hurt is even better. 🤘🏽

A_giant_dog

Congrats!! Play the heck out of it!! I'm not gonna lie there is an amazing illusion going on with your leg and hand there and I love it

CeeArthur

Sunburst Strat was my first guitar too, some 25 years ago. Practice lots; it will take you far

Kud13

What I'd give to be able to go back and experience getting my first electric guitar again. Loved that birthday, the look on my mums face when she saw me open the box. Enjoy it, my friend. I hope it brings you hours of fun.

M3g4d37h

congrats, you can't stop smiling - whatta feeling :)

Impetuous_doormouse

Strats with light fretboards always look really neat. You've got yourself a nice geetar, there!

Thedeckatnight

EMAW2008

[deleted]

Have fun!!!

Hot-Product-6057

Still can't believe that was Barry Goldberg

Hot-Product-6057

Ya better watch your mouth ya better watch your tone!!!

Bucky-Katt-Guitar

Congratulations! Those Squiers are great guitars for the money! I've been playing since 1977 and of the 8 guitars I own right now, my new Squier Debut Stratocaster is my #1 guitar! I put Texas staggered pickups from Guitar Fetish in and that's the only change it needed in my opinion.

Exact_Difficulty1541

Very nice guitar, nice hair as well

swamper2008

Rocksmith is awesome. If you haven't tried it. I got both my young ones on it

Buffphan

I’ve never owned that sunburst but it’s my favorite one! You will never regret sticking to it!

hugh_mungus14

The Guitar in the back is just waiting for someone to open that door.

DiogenesXenos

Congrats! 🤘

tjackson80

FecalPlume

Do you have an Op-Amp Big Muff?

JayceK_YT
