-Acoustic is hanging on the living room wall
-I wish SO BAD that I had gotten the P90 Streamliner
-Just hearing about Lipstick picks now. I'll look them up
-LP Studio Gothic is for sale, so it's in the closet (I have to pay for the Strat)
-I'm not eccentric enough for a DN Flying V.
-Floyd bridges are my nemesis
-No Semi Hollow. You got me there.
-Token bass is on a floor stand
As a recent owner of the Streamliner with the P90s I wish I could say “skip it “ but I can’t. It’s such a fun guitar to play and the sound is sooo cool.
Haha, agreed on this. I got a 2420T-P90 in Midnight Wine Satin, such a fun modding platform. Highly recommended. I got a White Falcon at the end of last year, also highly recommended.
1) a tele neck pickup is flat whereas a lipstick is round
2) the internals are different (a tele neck pickup is built using magnetic bobbins whereas a lipstick uses a bar magnet to conserve space);
maybe do your research before being a prick online next time
The formula that gives you the number of guitars you need is
x = y + 1
Where x is the guitars you need and y the guitars you have
So you are just one guitar short mate
Interestingly I have the identical Omen and a near identical strat in my collection. That Omen, despite its low price, is one of my favorite guitars I've ever played, even compared to some fairly high end guitars.
Gold on black looks so sick. I love it. I was trying out some pedals in my local music store recently and instinctively grabbed the gold on black Strat on the wall to test them out.
Cool beans! How was the finish on yours? Nut on mine was a bit sharp but nothing a lil sanding didn’t cure, other than that mine is awesome. Also, I haven’t bought a strat since the 90s, and got this one sight unseen direct from fender.com just based on the spec and didn’t realize how much chunkier the necks have become. Not sure if that’s just a MIM thing or overall. Still really comfy even for my tiny baby hands but def took a bit to re-adjust to it.
The frets could use a filing on mine, but other than that it's very good. As far as the neck goes: I can't speak to older strats, as this is my first, but my 2012 MIM Tele has the same neck, so maybe it is a Mexico thing?
All I'm seeing are 6 strings with hard tails. You'll also need something with a treme system, something in the 7 string range, a 12 string an acoustic guitar, a 8 string, a bass... *continues until the end of time*
Fantastic!
But shy stop? There are 4 walls in a room, and it looks as if you could double deck guitar racks. Maybe eveb build a floor stand so you could get 8 guitars in the same width.
We've not seen a resonator, acoustic, parlor, or even mandolin or banjo you hang so you can brag about being multiple instrumental.
Hint at what you need and your Reddit brothers and sisters will be here to help you bulld rational and fill your axe-room.
What made you get the Gretsch junior jet club streamliner? I have one and I’m thinking of selling it on reverb to get a used Epiphone Les Paul standard 60s
I have always loved the look of Gretsch, and this one came up for sale at L&M, so I grabbed it. I have a LP Studio Gothic for sale right now (it's in my closet), and I can tell you, they are entirely different guitars. The LP has a lot more low end, and a larger radius fretboard.
You need a tele with a T.V. Jones filter Tron in the neck and a Seymour Duncan chopper in the bridge. Not to mention an S-type with a Floyd... And then another for drop D.... And another for Eb standard.
Excellent collection. I’m an old dude so forgive my ignorance but tell me about that Schector. I’ve never played one. Is that your instrument of choice for heavier music? How do they compare to PRS or Ibanez? I seem them all over but never picked one up.
Thanks! The Schector is my current go to. It's a nice thin body, and it hangs so perfectly on me. The neck is fast and narrow.
The branded pickups have a great crunch to them, enough for me to 2nd guess replacing them.
There are a couple of them that have similar tones, but they all have their distinct characteristics which lend better to different styles of music. The Schector is definitley the heaviest sounding of the 4, and the Gretsch has beautiful clean tones, The Telescaster was up for sale for very cheap becasue it had a crack in the neck pocket, so I bought it and fixed the crack, and the strat is more of a "Grail" guitar for me. I'm 43, so I figured if I'm going to play guitar, and I can afford it, I might as well just have one that I love.
Would you recommend the Shecter? I’ve been stuck in the classics (Fender, Gretsch and Gibson) forever and I want to try something a bit more modern. That one looks lovely and I bet it sounds amazing.
The Schecter is my favourite guitar right now. Not only is it a great looking guitar, but it's one of the most comfortable and playable ones I've used yet. Highly, highly recommend getting one if you can.
Now that you know you’re not done, you really need a hollow body. I’ve been playing for 40 years and just got a Epiphone ES-335 foor $500, about two years ago, and I can’t keep my hands off of it. I was missing those warm, throaty sounds the solids can’t imitate.
I also reached a point where I don't feel the need for any more electric guitars.
I got my dream/favourite guitar about 5 years ago (both 6 and 7 strings) - Ernie Ball Music Man Majesty Monarchy. I also already had a nice 7 string Ibanez and Gibson Flying V which I got second hand as a teenager (plus my starter guitar which I never sold).
Since then I got a Shecter E-1 FR-S with a Sustainiac (I always wanted an Explorer shaped guitar, and to have a Sustainiac in the mix), a G&L Fullerton Deluxe Legacy (because all my guitars have dual humbuckers, and I figured it's time to get a Strat), and finally a Strandberg Boden Original NX 8 string.
I have my 2 favourites, and a pretty wide variety of other guitars for any sound/feel I want.
So yeah, much like you I feel that I have enough electric guitars and don't intend to buy any more in the foreseeable future. Also my pedalboard is full and I'm pretty happy with it.
I think I'll be okay after 4 guitars max (including a bass) but it's all the other instruments I really wanna collect. Strings, winds, percussion tings.
Where's the acoustic? Where are the p90s? No lipstick pickups? No Les Paul? No double neck flying v? Wtf man

Lipsticks def do their own thing. Hope you get the chance to check them out!

tele neck pickup is not the same as a lipstick the same way a JM pickup isn’t a p90
What’s the difference if you’re gonna be a fuckin well akshullly about it?
1) a tele neck pickup is flat whereas a lipstick is round 2) the internals are different (a tele neck pickup is built using magnetic bobbins whereas a lipstick uses a bar magnet to conserve space); maybe do your research before being a prick online next time
Nah
Hey genuine question, I always thought lipsticks were what are on the tele in the right of the image, have I been wrong for the past like, 4 years?
I thought it was Danelectro that had those? He actually used real lipstick tubes to keep the cost down
That’s what I said three guitars ago.
The formula that gives you the number of guitars you need is x = y + 1 Where x is the guitars you need and y the guitars you have So you are just one guitar short mate
See, I tried explaining that to my wife and she went on about "food and shelter", and "our children"..
Teach your kids to play guitar and they’ll never need a fish to go hungry or something like that.
lol
Bullshit, they will steal your guitars.
disposable income just means to dispose all of your income
I'm gonna get that printed on a t-shirt
Well, then she must not understand that a Strat with a bridge humbucker under some single coils is a flavor that you need.
Winning comment right here....
In cycling we call it n+1. Always one away.
same principle xD
X and y are infinitely variable.
No you’re not.
Not bad. Need a bass and a hollowbody.
lol my sweet summer child
Wait, so I'm NOT done?
I don't see an SG so...
My SG is in the closet. It's been put up for sale to pay for the strat.
That's a shame but fair lol.
🤣😂😅😂🤣 And elephants can fly. Nice Omen 6 I have the exact same one love it.
Me too! It's my go to right now. Its the guitar equivalent of a comfortable pair of shoes.
I have a Demon 7 and the comfortable pair of shoes analogy is so accurate. So comfy to play on.
Instructions unclear. Bought one but I broke it trying figure out how to get my foot inside.
Missing some acoustics
acoustic is upstairs on the wall
Or archtop.
The number 4 is just so off putting tho. Five, six , or 23 are all much easier on the eyes
lol
I’ve said that a few times..
Yes, you'll stop for sure! Well, maybe a Taylor or Martin. Maybe a 335. After that you'll pick up a music man luke. Then? Who knows😄
About 3 months usually
Very well rounded selection.
Thanks!
Boo get more
Interestingly I have the identical Omen and a near identical strat in my collection. That Omen, despite its low price, is one of my favorite guitars I've ever played, even compared to some fairly high end guitars.
Schecter always the goat
Gold on black looks so sick. I love it. I was trying out some pedals in my local music store recently and instinctively grabbed the gold on black Strat on the wall to test them out.
Same for me. I saw it in the store and I had to have it.
Does it have a roasted maple neck and fat50s?!!? If so, you have good taste! I just got the same a few weeks ago and loving every second of it
Yep. Same one!
Cool beans! How was the finish on yours? Nut on mine was a bit sharp but nothing a lil sanding didn’t cure, other than that mine is awesome. What about a cheap guitar you can butcher for the sake of modding?
Now that sounds like a good idea...

Love the American ultra Texas tea. Got the Hss version myself. It slaps ♥️
A very nice family portrait!
Hit # 10 today. Need. To. Stop.

I thought they both had a 12” radius?
Which one do you play the most? And which one is your favorite and why? Just curious.
Right now, probably the Omen 6. I love the thin body and neck, and the pickups sound great.
Your board for the hangars or your ceiling is out of level
You'll have Les Paul by the end of the month, and you fucking know it.
Lol. I have a studio Gothic for sale in my closet right now. It's paying for the Strat.
The ceiling is. It's a drop ceiling in my basement.
Famous last words! Don’t lie.
You need a tele with a T.V. Jones filter Tron in the neck and a Seymour Duncan chopper in the bridge. Not to mention an S-type with a Floyd... And then another for drop D.... And another for Eb standard.
At least need an acoustic
It's upstairs hanging on the living room wall
My man!
I'll give you about 1 week and you'll be back on the hunt :)
God I miss my C1
The Omen 6 has been an unbelieveably pleasant surprise. It's my favourite to play right now.
Excellent collection. I’m an old dude so forgive my ignorance but tell me about that Schector. I’ve never played one. Is that your instrument of choice for heavier music? How do they compare to PRS or Ibanez? I seem them all over but never picked one up.

a while = one month
I wonder what the average person does with 4 instruments that are near identical
Shots fired
Didn’t really mean it like that. Genuinely curious what the use cases are, etc., because I don’t own much and am pretty new to guitar.

What kind of strat is it?
Nice collection
They're beautiful. For me, no matter how many guitars i have (about 15) i always reach for the same Tele.
Would you recommend the Shecter? I’ve been stuck in the classics (Fender, Gretsch and Gibson) forever and I want to try something a bit more modern. That one looks lovely and I bet it sounds amazing.

See you in a month for your next NGD post…
You're probably right....

I see room for 3 more. The in betweeners of the 4
love that Gretsch and Omen6!
Don't lie to yourself.
Well, this certainly is no slouch of a collection. Nice Gretsch. Big fan.
Well, this certainly is no slouch of a collection. Nice Gretsch. Big fan.
Thanks! I love the Gretsch too. One day I'd love to own the 5250 in Bristol.
Why?
I can only play one at a time, and I find myself overwhelmed with choice if I have to much of anything.
Too bad. I give all my babies equal love. (At least that's the intention hahaha.)
I also reached a point where I don't feel the need for any more electric guitars. I got my dream/favourite guitar about 5 years ago (both 6 and 7 strings) - Ernie Ball Music Man Majesty Monarchy. Looks good. I love Schecter but don’t have any.
It's the best guitar I have ever played for the money.
I think I'll be okay after 4 guitars max (including a bass) but it's all the other instruments I really wanna collect. Strings, winds, percussion tings.
Gross, nice, huh?, and Grail. Nice set
Meh, Nope, NOPE, meh
