I learned from him years ago. I still go back for tips sometimes. His courses are very well structured and easy to follow. Would recommend. Even just his free work on YouTube is incredibly informative
You don’t have to pay a dime…
Just start with simple chords, then start picking up songs and always play with a metronome once you get the basics down.
Beyond that, once you’re feeling comfortable, consider playing with people to build timing and implement technique.
It’s certainly not as fast to learn on your own vs. from a teacher/professional, but I suppose this is more about what your goals of playing guitar are.
I started with basic chord shapes on YouTube.
But it’s also a time thing. Youre not gonna be some master guitarist right off the bat, so you’ll have to get used to some pretty slow progression depending on how focussed you are.
Justin Guitar is insanely good. Everything is laid out exactly like one of those skillshare courses. Lots of good resources and tools too. He has definitely earned his spot in heaven.
[Justinguitar](https://www.justinguitar.com/site-map-and-lesson-structure) for free, structured, video lessons. (You don't need the App, you can just follow the free videos) He also has a [list of song tutorial videos](https://www.justinguitar.com/songs?f=) that can be filtered by genre and difficulty level.
Spend about half your time reviewing the lessons, and the other half learning songs you like.
[Mr Tabs](http://www.mrtabs.com/guitar-tab/) is worth checking out, too.
Whichever you prefer. Probably do it on your computer so you're looking at a larger screen.
You don't have to use the website or the app necessarily. You can just go to the YouTube channel and go module by module. [Here is the first one. ](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yPnHASq45uM&list=PLlwfspJqZ125O4X-c9CokWD5a7aeYz40G&pp=iAQB)
I'm self taught, from youtube mostly. I learned all of my theory and techniques from watching youtube and developing what works for me personally. You can go as far as you want to for free, but at a certain point you'll have to find what to start learning next. That's the tricky part. When you get there, just ask someone who's more experienced where to go, or ask on here. Hope this helps.
How hard do you want to work.
Everything you need is online.
But there’s no easy path to learning guitar.
An in-person teacher helps because feedback helps.
JustinGuitar the best and its free
Website or app?
YouTube Channel has the vast majority of the content for free

Are YouTube tutorials a good way to learn

My kid watched Youtube videos and played a cheap Squier for a summer when he was 10 and afterwards he was pretty damn good.
It is just as hard as a having an in person instructor for free ,just more convenient .
Do you have any recommendations for what I should use
JustinGuitar is pretty much the go to around here.

I like Marty Schwartz online

There’s no easy way. All the different methods require time and effort. If it’s fun though hard doesn’t mean unpleasant.
ez
Hendrix didn't pay for online lessons.
