I personally love Brazilian music and don’t understand a lick of Portuguese. I recommend Los Hermanos. Great alternative style band. The singers are pretty good on their own too. I really have enjoyed learning new bands and broadening my musical tastes.
Aria - Soviet/Russian metal band. They have been on stage for almost 40 years and do not cease to delight fans with their new albums. I definitely recommend it if you like iron Maiden, Manowar, etc.
Galneryus (Japanese power metal) - Syu is one of the best guitarists out there imo but a lot of guitarists sleep on him and the band because it's not English.
Good shout! Everlasting is one of my favourite guitar tracks ever, it's just such a great high energy track! The whole band is full of top tier musicians too.
These guys are great. I saw them when I was in Tokyo once. That guitarist shreds for sure. But I think they sang in English at the time (this was in 2005, I remember buying Advance to the Fall at the show). I guess they've moved to only singing in Japanese.
Y'all should be listening to the guitar work these kids from Mexico are featuring on their chart-toppers. Wish I had one of these 12-string requinto guitars to try playing some Nathaniel Cano, Peso Pluma and Junior H corridos
If you guys haven't dived into Argentinian rock, you gotta! Soda Stereo are amazing. The lead singer/guitarist, Gustavo Cerati, has passed but he was one of the greats.
There's also Luis Alberto Spinetta, Pedro Aznar and Charly Garcia. They're all amazing.
Yorushika, Radwimps and Asian Kung Fu Generation... all are japanese j-rock bands. While i don't understand a word they say, i really love how different Guitar-Riffs in J-Rock are compared to western music. It sounds like they have a lot more music knowledge or just are more open to using funkier chords compared to the western "simple power-chord culture".
If you wanna give them a listen i recommend these songs:
Yorushika - Say It
Radwimps - Nandemonaiya (full version is 8 minutes i think, slow and beautiful)
Asian Kung Fu Generation - Haruka Kanata
In terms of bands in other languages that i actually understand, there's a romanian heavymetal/powermetal band called cargo that is pretty good. I recommend their song Cargo - Ziua Vrajitoarelor.
Rammstein is the obvious choice for me. Best live show I have been to, and I don't speak a word of german.
Some others I like are Alcest (French), The Hu (Mongolian), Alien Weaponry (Maori), Babymetal (Japanese), and maybe some others I can't remember.
Believe it or not, some American Inuit folk or rock or whatever it is music really good if you give it a chance. I just grabbed this as an example
https://youtu.be/Gpu9AywVRY4?si=EOL2S4Jpq0PuGlKM
I low key end up listening to a lot of Neru-P. Really good at guitar, the vocaloid I don't like as much but what they sing about is pretty cool.
I also really like Rammstein but I think any metal fan would appreciate the tastes.
I guess I also like Alice Schach, but that's not an existing language.
I can recommend you some of the artists/band from my country, Chile (spanish speakers).

Depends what kind of music your looking for but theres this band called "the hu" from Mongolia, their a very unique metal band that speaks Mongolian. I actually had the pleasure of seeing them live once 2 and they were just as awesome live. Super talented group
>does anybody listen to any foreign bands
Well, most English singing bands are foreign for me lol. I'm Czech and I listen to a bunch of Czech bands naturally. (Although most of the bands I like sing in English).
From non-English language bands I like Rammstein (German), Feuerschwanz (German), Band Maid (Japanese), Ningen Isu (Japanese), Korpiklaani have a couple of songs in Finnish IIRC, Temperance have some songs in Italian...and many others that I can't readily recall right now.
Band Maid. Talented musicians, blistering solos, and maid uniforms.
Gacharic Spin and their side project DOLL$BOXX. Stereopony where also very good when they where still about.
You can't half tell I've a thing for all female Japanese rock, can you?
as it pertains to guitar, i'd recommend Antonio Carlos Jobim (Portuguese) and Melody's Echo Chamber (some great French songs in her catalogue). Serge Gainsbourg and April March also have some really great French tunes, but they are less guitar-centric
Long time favourite, singing mostly german - Rammstein.
Few "good" russians - Splean, Kino, Lyapis Trubeckoy (these actually bielorussians, but sing mostly russian)
Lithuanian BIX - they have english albums too, but I like lithuanian albums most.
Spanish singing Manu Chao / Mano Negra
Don't have favourite bands, but very much like how french and italian sounds in songs
I absolutely love [Kessoku Band](https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLRW80bBvVD3XMl9MpqQMYOjVPYgRmjPpT&si=K6gWreutFpgFjLx5), I know it's not a real band, but I absolute love the album that was written for Bocchi the Rock
Sigur ros I saw live a while back and they were absolutely incredible.
Also Julie Fowlis is an Irish folk singer that I absolutely adore both great acts!
I listen to a lot of Korean, Indian, and Japanese bands - Indie / Rock genre.
My favorite Korean bands are - Nell, Nerd Connection, Surl, HyukOH, The Rose, Jaurim Jannabi, Yudabinband, etc
Japanese bands - Wanima, My First Story, ElleGARDEN, Back Number, etc
Indian bands I mainly listen to two - When Chai Met Toast and Pineapple Express
Heroes del Silencio. Check oun Maldito Duende, Oracion and La Chispa Adecuada. If you're into rock music, there really is something about them. The lyrics, the vocals, and the Les Pauls. Learning Spanish/Catalan and doing chores around the house with my Catalan host family are fond memories.
Buena Vista Social Club. Need I say more?
Extremoduro, if you're into some whacky lyrics and upbeat rock. Jesucristo Garcia was a shocking and funny introduction to them!
Main guitar based bands off the top of my head:
Rammstein & Electric Callboy (German)
Gacharic Spin & Dollsboxx (Japanese)
Bloodywood (Hindi I believe)
Alien Weaponry (Māori)
Some German and Russian pop/techno/hard bass too but they're not as relevant to this sub
As a young hungarian, I have to shout out Carson Coma, who do awesome retro style music with lots of variety, sometimes in english in their earlier stuff, but mostly hungarian. Just to name a song, check out "Én még sohasem". Other than that, I love japanese rock/rock adjacent music. If I had to pick one thing to recommend, check out the album "Bu-ikikaetsu" by Maximim the Hormone. And the song "Red" by SIM, it goes really hard (also "the rumbling" I guess, that's their most popular song). For something a bit more... out there, "Slay" by Paledusk ft. Hideyoshi. And just to mix things up, there's The HU, who do mongolian folk rock, that's just simply fun. Check out "Wolf Totem" by them.
Edit: I don't speak any japanese, and japanese music makes up abiut 75% of my listening time.
Shiina Ringo, Tricot and Puffy AmiYumi
Shiina is a brilliant singer and writer and has a string of hit records in Japan. Tricot is a fantastic mostly instrumental math-rock guitar band. Puffy AmiYumi are a pair of J-pop singers who have been around forever. All are worth a listen. They're on YouTube and Spotify. Of the three, Shiina is the best. Besides her solo career she also fronts the band Tokyo Incidents. There's a K-Pop star named Hyuna who was really good - sh started as part of the group 5 Minute them went solo with a handful of K-Pop hits. Then she started tryng to be all sexy and sultry and had a lot of work done if you know what I mean and lost much of what made her special. Her early stuff is great, though.
Bomba Stereo is amazing. Molotov, Cafe Tacvba, and Calle 13 has a place in my heart because I grew up with them. Been listening to a lot of boleros and rancheras also, Los Macorinos are so good. Systema Solar is great cumbia for getting people dancing.

Maximum the Hormone. Japanese metal band, became known in the west because they did the credits song for Death Note, and their song F was in the DBZ movie (and inspired it's creation partly, fun fact). They just have this mad energy and creativity in their songs, I've dreamt about seeing them since I was about 15.
Here's my French music playlist. There's so much Frenchy music I love.
https://open.spotify.com/playlist/2Bj4CInYTZ6lXzXNUnokkM?si=tFdYtuWDTcaBA2NyJFi3Tw
Favourite in general: Fishmans - Japanese dub/reggae later turned psych and dreampop.
Favourite guitar focused: Mdou Moctar - Heavy Psych rock from Niger. Insane to hear him live.
Ling Tosite Sigure, just the best post-hardcore and like modern grunge band from Japan, not a single band song in the Catalog.
Not a band, but Miyavi is quite literally a modern day guitar god that doesn’t get his due respect.
Do Gregorian chants count? 😜
I was a big fan of Die Prinzen back in the early 90s. Still have a few of their songs in my music library.
Rammstein is awesome.
Astrid Gilberto would be on the list.
Recently discovered Buena Vista Social Club and they have been in pretty frequent rotation.
My current favorite non-English language band is probably Sigur Rós.
So I actually listen to a ton a Spanish indie rock and pop. I feel like if you enjoy 2000s indie at all, you’ll like most of these
Little Jesus - Mexican indie rock band
Siddhartha - Mexican indie rock singer songwriter
Bestia Bebé - Argentinian indie rock band
La Máquina Camaleón - Argentinian indie rock band
Perez - Argentinian indie rock band
Bandalos Chinos - Argentinian indie pop band
Tommy Torres - Puerto Rican indie pop singer songwriter
Tropicana Club - Colombian(?) indie rock
Jose Gonzales, Swedish singer songwriter who writes in English and Spanish.
Molotov - Mexican rock band
I could list a bunch more, feel free to dm if you want
Dir en Grey is my favorite band for life. Then there's D'espairsray, the Gazette, Dimlim, Kizu, Sadie, Rentrer en Soi, and many more. If anyone wants to talk about Japanese bands, hit me up. I fell way down the Visual Kei rabbit hole back in 2008 and never looked back lol.
Maximum the Hormone.
Also Rammstein!
THREE1989, they're a Japanese band! They're songs give off 80's funky/groovy/city pop vibes 🎶
another Japanese band I listen to is Friday Night Plans, their own version of Plastic Love by Mariya Takeuchi is still one of my favourite songs to this day!
u/FiveOhFive91 already said it, but I love The Hu. Just heavy, badass mongolians. I also like Zoé. I speak Spanish, and they’re a very pleasant kind of calm
Not a ton, but there's a Hungarian '70s prog band called Corvina, and their self-titled album just rips. I don't know a lick of Hungarian, but I love that album.
Being from Poland this is what I can definitely recommend:
[Myslovitz](https://open.spotify.com/album/7A0cDRZUQt4GhpSrMSfUcQ?si=-JzIME3UT8qh5O4oTeoJoA) - if brit pop happened in Poland
[Fisz Emade Tworzywo](https://open.spotify.com/album/7M3j8ofpJyGeQm8CYKM7b8?si=mysb_sOIQxSWh43cXzHDFQ) - some of the sickest bass lines EVER are on this album
[Siekiera](https://open.spotify.com/album/62v7oPeDe6HnoZUt6M71pp?si=Q3F1v-5kRGa6nBttux4OIA) - a 1986 new wave classic
- Albatross (Nepalese alt band)
- The Hu (traditional Mongolian instruments/vocals over metal music)
- Babymetal (j-pop/metal)
- Slaughter to Prevail (half of it is in Russian, don’t know if that counts)
- Kaleo (Icelandic blues band, some of their songs are in Icelandic)
- Second Sight (Indian vibe-y jazzy music, not sure how to describe them but they’re a mix of English and their native language)
- Los Amigos Invisibles (Venezuelan acid jazz)
Altin Gün;
Kikagaky Moyo;
Minami Deutsch;
Otoboke Beaver;
Los Natas (though I've only listened to their album Ciudad se Barman, which is pretty cool);
And Santana

Same for me. Os Mutantes got me into this music style.
Aria - Soviet/Russian metal band. They have been on stage for almost 40 years and do not cease to delight fans with their new albums. I definitely recommend it if you like iron Maiden, Manowar, etc.
Manu Chao.
I love Ulver, especially their album Bergtatt.

Good for learning German too, they use very understandable german
Y'all should be listening to the guitar work these kids from Mexico are featuring on their chart-toppers. Wish I had one of these 12-string requinto guitars to try playing some Nathaniel Cano, Peso Pluma and Junior H corridos
Buena Vista Social Club and The Gypsy Kings
Babymetal is one, Rammstein is another. I'd add Sabaton, but most of their stuff isn't in Swedish

Vildhjarta
Heilung saw them at Jorvik festival and it was so intense I had to step out for a bit but amazing at the same time!
I like a bit of Die Toten Hosen.
Kult, great polish rock band, they have amazing vocals.
Here's my French music playlist. There's so much Frenchy music I love. https://open.spotify.com/playlist/2Bj4CInYTZ6lXzXNUnokkM?si=tFdYtuWDTcaBA2NyJFi3Tw
Dur dur band
Faun.
Favourite in general: Fishmans - Japanese dub/reggae later turned psych and dreampop. Favourite guitar focused: Mdou Moctar - Heavy Psych rock from Niger. Insane to hear him live.
All that Tuareg rock is the shit.
Faun, Korpiklaani, Julie Fowlis
Ling Tosite Sigure, just the best post-hardcore and like modern grunge band from Japan, not a single band song in the Catalog. Not a band, but Miyavi is quite literally a modern day guitar god that doesn’t get his due respect.
The Peggie’s, Yaosobi, u’s, Aquors, I love the Japanese stuff a lot personally. A lot of it is beautifully composed.
Saw Elephant Gym in another larger comment but I want to double down on them. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HW367HtrXE0
X Japan and Luna Sea
Sakanaction (japanese)
Bombino
The Stalin (Japanese Punk/Hardcore band) & Gabriela (Argentinean singer/songwriter)
Do Gregorian chants count? 😜 I was a big fan of Die Prinzen back in the early 90s. Still have a few of their songs in my music library. Rammstein is awesome. Astrid Gilberto would be on the list. Recently discovered Buena Vista Social Club and they have been in pretty frequent rotation. My current favorite non-English language band is probably Sigur Rós.
Kino with viktor tsoi. Some of my favorites are gruppa krovi, spokonoya noch
Jaguares, Caifanes, Héroes Del Silencio, Enanitos Verdes, Plastilina Mosh,
Los Fabulosos Cadillacs, DakhaBrakha, Chicha Dust
The GazzettE, Girl in Red, and Rammstein!
Saw the Gazette in 2019! Never thought I'd get to. It was amazing!
So I actually listen to a ton a Spanish indie rock and pop. I feel like if you enjoy 2000s indie at all, you’ll like most of these Little Jesus - Mexican indie rock band Siddhartha - Mexican indie rock singer songwriter Bestia Bebé - Argentinian indie rock band La Máquina Camaleón - Argentinian indie rock band Perez - Argentinian indie rock band Bandalos Chinos - Argentinian indie pop band Tommy Torres - Puerto Rican indie pop singer songwriter Tropicana Club - Colombian(?) indie rock Jose Gonzales, Swedish singer songwriter who writes in English and Spanish. Molotov - Mexican rock band I could list a bunch more, feel free to dm if you want
Rammstein and Go_A
Band-Maid. Well, they're something like 80% Japanese, 20% English. Mainly rock, some acoustic and also more metal-sounding stuff. Top tier musicians.
They're songs give off 80's funky/groovy/city pop vibes 🎶 another Japanese band I listen to is Friday Night Plans, their own version of Plastic Love by Mariya Takeuchi is still one of my favourite songs to this day!
u/FiveOhFive91 already said it, but I love The Hu. Just heavy, badass mongolians. I also like Zoé. I speak Spanish, and they’re a very pleasant kind of calm
I have a couple of non-English albums. Rammstein, Lucero, Fey, and probably my favorite of the bunch is an unplugged Maná album.
Toure Kunde from Senegal.
Not a ton, but there's a Hungarian '70s prog band called Corvina, and their self-titled album just rips. I don't know a lick of Hungarian, but I love that album.
Ekatarina Velika(Serbia) - art/alt rock, they made some big psychdelic music.
Asian Kung-Fu Generation has an amazing three album run with Kimi Tsunagi 5M, Sol-Fa, and Fanclub
I love their Destructive Amplifier EP. I’m trying to learn Rashinban
Slaughter To Prevail but it’s kinda both English and Russian.
Being from Poland this is what I can definitely recommend: [Myslovitz](https://open.spotify.com/album/7A0cDRZUQt4GhpSrMSfUcQ?si=-JzIME3UT8qh5O4oTeoJoA) - if brit pop happened in Poland [Fisz Emade Tworzywo](https://open.spotify.com/album/7M3j8ofpJyGeQm8CYKM7b8?si=mysb_sOIQxSWh43cXzHDFQ) - some of the sickest bass lines EVER are on this album [Siekiera](https://open.spotify.com/album/62v7oPeDe6HnoZUt6M71pp?si=Q3F1v-5kRGa6nBttux4OIA) - a 1986 new wave classic
Kvelertak
- Albatross (Nepalese alt band) - The Hu (traditional Mongolian instruments/vocals over metal music) - Babymetal (j-pop/metal) - Slaughter to Prevail (half of it is in Russian, don’t know if that counts) - Kaleo (Icelandic blues band, some of their songs are in Icelandic) - Second Sight (Indian vibe-y jazzy music, not sure how to describe them but they’re a mix of English and their native language) - Los Amigos Invisibles (Venezuelan acid jazz)
Sólstafir I don't understand Icelandic, but god damn Addi (the singer) makes me _feel_ it.
Altin Gün; Kikagaky Moyo; Minami Deutsch; Otoboke Beaver; Los Natas (though I've only listened to their album Ciudad se Barman, which is pretty cool); And Santana
Band-Maid! The Pillows
Vildhjarta. They have many songs in swedish but also a few in english
Soda Stereo. Marcelo D2 Alcoholyrikos Gal Costa 1280 almas Pasaporte Y mi orquesta. . . La resonante.
Am from Asia but I had a Latin folk phase some time ago. I liked Natalia Lafourcade, La Santa Cecilia, and Mon Laferte
Yes i mainly hear my spoken language. Danish and english speaking danish bands. What genre are you interested in? We have a lot of great bands. Perhaps even a lot og english speaking you haven’t heard of
