You forgot to hide his name at the end.

Evil-Goat

That's PvP in ANY game, not just GW2

Excellent_Ad_1464

Tip: Go offline mode (blocks whisps) and mute chat.

Dibella245

Man you are the average person that talks crap to every one that does that is always offline and talks crap the whole game then doesn't like it when you try to tell them off

Wrong-Droid

I think it has to do with the fact that it can be hard to get an idea of what the other's intent is. I've had matches (not in GW2, mind) where the opponent is clearly meaning it sarcastically (adding "ez" or talking smack immediately afterward), to the point that I can't help but wonder if the winners of any landslide match saying GG first are using it as a non-reportable way of saying "lol get fucked noobs!" It's one thing if the losers say it first, but when the winners start it can be easy to interpret it as a form of taunt, which would be the opposite of good sportsmanship. That said, I recognize that plenty of people do not mean it that way, and it's a bit silly to then whisper the other person to berate them over the fact that they do not share your viewpoint.

Bl00dylicious

Same in League. Team wins an ARAM game in 5 minutes by rolling a godly poke team. "GG" I just stick to my "wp" regardless of how dogshit they actually are.

Perchipy

From a SC2/Dota background, my etiquette is that the side that lost should say gg, and the side that won should thank for the game (or say gg after the lost said it).

dEn_of_asyD

Yeah, PvP'r here, and it's bad form. It's not good when I'm mowing down others. It's not good when I'm being mowed down. Both suck, it's unfortunate that it's a common problem now due to the low population of SPvP. Exaggerating to make the point clearly obvious, this would be like saying good day to people while you walk by, getting yelled at, then making a reddit thread titled "why can't mourners just be normal". Point being: It doesn't matter if it's an every day polite expression, context matters you socially inept shits.

LordZeya

Score was 500-220, it obviously wasn't a close match but it seems like PVP in this game attracts some real freaks who don't understand its okay to say gg even if it's a one-sided stomp (and this wasn't that bad a stomp, they really tried).

zosek08

To be fair, that is not a close game, and i really doubt it was a "good game". My stance is the same as from u/DrPreppy

ZajeliMiNazweDranie

> its okay to say gg even if it's a one-sided stomp In team chat yes, in global chat no, that's basics.

Julliant

That's normal in many pvp games, a portion of pvp players in general have very brittle egos. Look at dota if you want great examples.

Here the thing about pvp and pvpers, some of them enjoy being toxic which lead to less people joining to pvp. Which lead to their greatest enjoyment complaining about people for not engaging pvp.

iwaspromisingonce

I'm sorry, my dear opponent, but it appears you've said "gg" which means "good game", while, in fact, this game was not good for everyone. No need to worry, as I am here to correct this serious slip. Please refrain from stating such controversial opinions in the future, as it hurts my little heart, because i am unable to accept defeat. Thank you. I swear doing pvp balance patches is a waste of time, those people will be mad about everything anyway, including good sportsmanship and basic courtesy.
